I inquired about early lease termination for this reason and of course got the corporate jargon answer. So let's get into the details of what it means to live at Twin Lakes. The bad: In our particular unit there is a often times the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from our bathroom. It is probably coming from the vents. There will be young adults smoking marijuana by the lake which you must walk through on dog walks and to get to your car. While they say that this is disallowed they will simply say that can't control smoking outside even though in the same breath they claim that they will charge for such problems. It is an old building and mice have made its home here as well. I have had one in my apartment, sent pictures to the office of them in the lobby and there are carcasses of dead mice by the door. During peak times it is impossible to shower as hot water runs out quick, and a more annoying issue is the water pressure. There is a 50/50 chance that the water will come out of the spout after you come home from work to make dinner or take a shower. Elevators have regular issues, I have been stuck on multiple occasions and often times they are out of service. The doors sometimes do not open so you have to manually do it. Laundry machines are $2.25 per wash and $2.25 per dry. You will spend very quickly $200 per month just on these fees. You must add extra time to the dryer for an additional $.75 as the regular time mode will leave your clothes wet still. You will often times be charged and the machine will not take so you must pay again. Sometimes one load of laundry will cost you $8.00. Over the years the fire alarms of gone off quite frequently, night/day winter/summer doesn't matter. To me this wasn't a big deal but if you have a baby as I shared, this is not only unpleasant but a danger to developing kids. You will be told to sign up for some package locker and pay some $80/year but no delivery courier puts it there. Instead they are left on the floor in the lobby. The good : The location and the maintenance staff. They do what they can with what they have. If you are a single person and don't intend to spend much time at home then this place may work for you, however if you consider the price it is certainly worth going anywhere else

There are loud residents as well as smokers. Packages are not secured in Luxer System, so a lot is stolen. Many times things don't make it into the actual area in the building. They are left in the foyer. Parking can be an issue on weekends. If the prime parking passes are available, pay the extra to insure your space. There are problems with ants, mice, etcetera. They are increasing rent, and I noticed many moved out this spring/summer due to this reason. Residents talked. Be sure to shop around the area before signing a lease. There are other options which are newer or better renovated. They did not send reasons as to why I didn't receive a full deposit. I had fixed nail holes, cleaned decently, and to be honest, it was left better than what I walked in to in 2022. The ladies in the office are amazing as is the maintenance crew. The apartments are decently sized with storage. It is located in a good area.

This is a very diverse community. There is a wide range of diversity from age group to ethnicity. Thanks to this ---hole we had to drive all the way to S&S Towing in Melrose Park (a place critically panned by Yelp users) which didn't even have a record on file of our vehicle. Do not condone what this scumbag did to the both of us for the sake of you not having your apartment complex being given a bad name. I will not recommend you to anybody looking for an apartment.

You're looking at about 2,000 for a one bedroom one bath with W/D (around 800sqft) and about 2,700…read morefor a 2 bedroom 2 bath with W/D (abt 1,100 sqft). The high prices are because of the area and supposed amenities. For the location near grocery stores, the hwy, and the train on top of the amenities it makes sense, but to be honest it not worth it for the money anymore. Amenities are not maintained well and/or have very restrictive hours. The apartments are not well insulated so your utilities are typically really high no matter the season. The increasing amount of prohibited items on patios is getting out of hand. No rugs (even outdoor ones I guess), lights, bikes, storage items, drapes, or grills are allowed on your patio. You are however allowed to grill if you are 100ft away from the building. For 2,700 a month the inability to decorate your patio or store your bike out there(because the storage included with most patios is no where near big enough) is very disappointing. They put in communal grills to make up for the change of no longer allowing grills on patios, but theyre only close to the leasing office, so you'll have to walk a ways to get to one. They try to offset many downsides with outdoor movies and free donut day every once in a while. In regards to amenities: Gym is 24/7 and equipment is fine, but I really don't thinking its cleaned very well. Every time I go there is hair and dust all over the floor, which is disgusting because they have an area with yoga mats where you are very close to the ground doing your work out. The bathroom in the gym is connected to the pool and its not well maintained either, everything in there is falling apart. Pool next to the gym should be heated when weather drops below a certain temp, however it's not. The main pool was "down for maintenance" the first day it was advertised to be open for the season. They gave no notice other than a small sign taped on the gate. It was down for a while, which is interesting since they had plenty of time prior to it opening for the season for things to get fixed, as the weather had been good for a bit over a month. Sand volleyball area is not maintained at all. There is always goose poop, garbage, or other stuff in there that makes it unusable. There is a dog park that is again not maintained. There are tons patches where there is no grass just dirt, so when its slightly damp out your dog will be a muddy mess. There is supposed to be two tennis courts but one is always locked. Feels like the movie theater is just for show. You really can only use it on the weekends because it's only open during business hours and trying to get a hold of people in the leasing office to make an appointment is next to impossible, I suppose if you email them or go in person you might have better luck.

The complex has a mix of families and roommates as well as ages and races which makes the environment welcoming. The condo space itself is well cared for and extremely spacious. Living in them 2bd 2ba unit was great for our family of 2 adults and 2 children and cat. The storage space and remodeled kitchen made them unit extremely desirable which we would have stayed in the complex if we did not have another little one on the way. If you are looking for a centrally located, well cared for and inviting place to live I would highly recommend Winston Oaks.

Well here is May, and they came to fix the door and did not even order the new door. Guess what they told my husband the reason is for it not locking. Pretty much they said the door for the BATHROOM shouldn't lock because people have been getting locked in and out. Like uhhh what? I'm sorry but a bathroom is a private place. I enjoy to lock my doors when I'm in there. If you are not able to order the new door or not able to fix it because it is out of what you are capable of I would much rather you tell me the truth and flat out say " sorry, but there is nothing I can do to fix it, it's broken" but no, making an excuse is much better. Besides this issue I love the place and everyone is so nice. But to me a bathroom is a private place, I like to be alone and not have my dog push the door open and just welcome herself in, or be walked in on accidentally by my family when they come over. The new addition of the package kiosk is nice for those who leave work after the office is closed. Lived there for a year, but the cost of a two bed, two bath was steep. When moving out, my roommate was considering moving to a 1 bed,1 bath and rent was so high, it was only $200 off from what we paid for the 2 bed, 2 bath. I get rent goes up every year but... If you can afford to live here, it is very nice. But for what I paid, I would expect 1. warm water in my kitchen sink: it took more than 10 min to go from freezing to luke warm 2. have better water pressure: good luck washing your dishes by hand if you choose. 3. have my maintenance requests taken seriously: I complained about shower water pressure and heating time multiple times, and it wasn't until about 2 months left in my lease until it was ACTUALLY fixed. The bathroom sinks and kitchen sinks still took forever, as previously stated. Was always blamed on being an "end unit" 4. You would think maintenance would check the heating units every winter, as it wasn't til we had fishy smells for a week that maintenance said "some part in the unit dries up and causes the smell, it happens every year" well ok.... why don't you check it every winter before it happens? 5. fitness equipment: the treadmills are an injury waiting to happen with sticky conveyer belts and Swiss balls that look like they haven't been replaced since the apartments were built. The cable column is new and very nice. 6. Appliances: the refrigerator hands down sucks. Could never open it all the way because it was placed right by the wall. Can't adjust shelves reasonably. Freezes food a lot. 7. Heating and Air conditioning: one room will be really hot, one will be really cold, one will be fine. You will have to decide who suffers. 8. Parking: people park like a-holes, if you have remotely a new car- only park as far close to the curb in an end spot or rent an expensive garage. 9. You hear a lot. I could hear dresser drawers close in the unit above. Every morning. At 6:45 am. 10. Residents with dogs don't pick up after their pets outside in the grass area. Have stepped in poop multiple times. I rated the place high because I did like my apartment. The list is just suggestions to make living in the apartments and cost worth it or for potential renters to address. I'm sure not everyone experienced these things, but it's a warning that it MIGHT be an issue.
