I inquired about early lease termination for this reason and of course got the corporate jargon answer. So let's get into the details of what it means to live at Twin Lakes. The bad: In our particular unit there is a often times the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from our bathroom. It is probably coming from the vents. There will be young adults smoking marijuana by the lake which you must walk through on dog walks and to get to your car. While they say that this is disallowed they will simply say that can't control smoking outside even though in the same breath they claim that they will charge for such problems. It is an old building and mice have made its home here as well. I have had one in my apartment, sent pictures to the office of them in the lobby and there are carcasses of dead mice by the door. During peak times it is impossible to shower as hot water runs out quick, and a more annoying issue is the water pressure. There is a 50/50 chance that the water will come out of the spout after you come home from work to make dinner or take a shower. Elevators have regular issues, I have been stuck on multiple occasions and often times they are out of service. The doors sometimes do not open so you have to manually do it. Laundry machines are $2.25 per wash and $2.25 per dry. You will spend very quickly $200 per month just on these fees. You must add extra time to the dryer for an additional $.75 as the regular time mode will leave your clothes wet still. You will often times be charged and the machine will not take so you must pay again. Sometimes one load of laundry will cost you $8.00. Over the years the fire alarms of gone off quite frequently, night/day winter/summer doesn't matter. To me this wasn't a big deal but if you have a baby as I shared, this is not only unpleasant but a danger to developing kids. You will be told to sign up for some package locker and pay some $80/year but no delivery courier puts it there. Instead they are left on the floor in the lobby. The good : The location and the maintenance staff. They do what they can with what they have. If you are a single person and don't intend to spend much time at home then this place may work for you, however if you consider the price it is certainly worth going anywhere else

There are loud residents as well as smokers. Packages are not secured in Luxer System, so a lot is stolen. Many times things don't make it into the actual area in the building. They are left in the foyer. Parking can be an issue on weekends. If the prime parking passes are available, pay the extra to insure your space. There are problems with ants, mice, etcetera. They are increasing rent, and I noticed many moved out this spring/summer due to this reason. Residents talked. Be sure to shop around the area before signing a lease. There are other options which are newer or better renovated. They did not send reasons as to why I didn't receive a full deposit. I had fixed nail holes, cleaned decently, and to be honest, it was left better than what I walked in to in 2022. The ladies in the office are amazing as is the maintenance crew. The storage space and remodeled kitchen made them unit extremely desirable which we would have stayed in the complex if we did not have another little one on the way. The new addition of the package kiosk is nice for those who leave work after the office is closed. Lived there for a year, but the cost of a two bed, two bath was steep. When moving out, my roommate was considering moving to a 1 bed,1 bath and rent was so high, it was only $200 off from what we paid for the 2 bed, 2 bath. I get rent goes up every year but... If you can afford to live here, it is very nice. But for what I paid, I would expect 1. warm water in my kitchen sink: it took more than 10 min to go from freezing to luke warm 2. have better water pressure: good luck washing your dishes by hand if you choose. 3. have my maintenance requests taken seriously: I complained about shower water pressure and heating time multiple times, and it wasn't until about 2 months left in my lease until it was ACTUALLY fixed. The bathroom sinks and kitchen sinks still took forever, as previously stated. Was always blamed on being an "end unit" 4. You would think maintenance would check the heating units every winter, as it wasn't til we had fishy smells for a week that maintenance said "some part in the unit dries up and causes the smell, it happens every year" well ok.... why don't you check it every winter before it happens? 5. fitness equipment: the treadmills are an injury waiting to happen with sticky conveyer belts and Swiss balls that look like they haven't been replaced since the apartments were built. The cable column is new and very nice. 6. Appliances: the refrigerator hands down sucks. Could never open it all the way because it was placed right by the wall. Can't adjust shelves reasonably. Freezes food a lot. 7. Heating and Air conditioning: one room will be really hot, one will be really cold, one will be fine. You will have to decide who suffers. 8. Parking: people park like a-holes, if you have remotely a new car- only park as far close to the curb in an end spot or rent an expensive garage. 9. You hear a lot. I could hear dresser drawers close in the unit above. Every morning. At 6:45 am. 10. Residents with dogs don't pick up after their pets outside in the grass area. Have stepped in poop multiple times. I rated the place high because I did like my apartment. The list is just suggestions to make living in the apartments and cost worth it or for potential renters to address. I'm sure not everyone experienced these things, but it's a warning that it MIGHT be an issue.
