Very disappointed with our experience today at Elmhurst Dentistry For Kids after being patients for 6+ years. We have always loved the dentists and Maritza, but today my family was publicly embarrassed over an account balance in front of other patients and staff. I explained we were waiting on insurance because a similar situation happened before and we later received a refund check from the office. Instead of handling it privately, a staff member loudly demanded payment multiple times in the waiting area. My son has special needs and already struggles with dental visits and sensory regulation. This situation caused him to become overwhelmed and overstimulated. For an office that serves children, especially special needs children, I expected more compassion, professionalism, and respect for patient privacy. Today's experience unfortunately showed us that money seemed more important than treating families with understanding, dignity, and compassion. Be careful if you owe any small or large amount. Or if its been owed from a day ago or a week. You may end up being publicly humiliated in their open waiting area instead of being treated with dignity and privacy. I used to recommend this place to other families, but after today's experience, I no longer will. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. The male dentist Jerry was rude wanted me out of the patients room talked to me in a harsh tone. Mind you the patient is 5 years old , during procedure he kept yelling and moving the patient aggressively, at one point a crown didn't fit so when he yanked it out it flew across the room. He spoke in a tone that was unacceptable, would look into other dentist in the area if you can. read more

Super friendly and helpful staff! This was my son's first dental experience and I couldn't recommend this place enough.

This office has a policy with kids 5 and under not being seen after 2:00. I asked why they had this policy and they stated that they follow pediatric dentist association recommendations. That kids tended to be crankier and have a tough time later in the day. I work full time, and cannot bring my kids in so early. I switched to a dentist that can accommodate working parents and children who are in school during the day. I should note there were several later appointments available, but they refused them for my kids. After some back and forth they said "they will allow a one time exception for just this time." They were fine with my kids. They are young (4, 6), so its not too tricky yet. They just did a standard cleaning, praised them for staying in the chair. There is a TV and a prize. read more

Both of my kids go here and they love it... no more bribery to get them to go lol please tell me what 4 yr old and 9yr old can say they genuinely like going to the dentist lol my point exactly we love this place and definitely would recommend! read more

This place is a total sham. Our 7 year old was referred here to get cavities filled. We made an appointment expecting the work would be done similar to when our first born had a similar amount of cavities. Instead, they charged us for a consultation that we didn't need because we already had one with our primary dentist, they charged us for X-rays that we didn't need because we just had them taken the week before, and then they handed us a care plan for three additional visits costing over $1800 after insurance to fill the cavities. Keep in mind the price for a similar amount of work with our first daughter was closer to $150 after insurance and they did it all in one visit, not four! This place charged us that just for the unnecessary consultation and X-rays. The only good thing I can say is that everyone there was very nice while they were screwing us over. Horrible communication and horrible prices. This is the very kind of place that reinforces the stereotypes of dentists taking advantage of people, and worse they are using treatment for kids to get people to look past the exorbitant costs and downright shady practices. read more

Elmhurst dentistry for kids is only concerned with billing the maximum amount possible per patient. The quality of care is okay but noting special. However their billing dept after the face is miserable to work with. Do not recommend. read more

I will never return to this place. My daughter needed 4 crowns since we started going there. 2 crowns in the last 2 months. I took her for a checkup in January. X-rays we're done. Suddenly, she needs 2 crowns. I was told that several kids have several crowns. I was also told that these big cavities can just appear out of nowhere. Even though we take her regularly and she has X-rays done, these big cavities can just appear. We brush and floss DAILY. I took my son for a complimentary checkup. He's 1. His teeth are coming in crooked and one felt cracked so I made an appointment for a free consult. The man in charge wanted to do an X-ray for $55. Free consult suddenly turns into $55. Hmmm. The girl at the front even gave me a heads up about a potential X-ray before we got into the room. I asked the man when his teeth should fully come in and he couldn't even give me a timeframe. Instead, he said the X-ray will TELL ALL. He even said my son's potential hidden tooth injury could result in an infection and hospitalization. You read that right. Fear-mongering seems to be their expertise, not providing a timeframe about when a tooth will fully come in so I could watch it. I learned that their care for patients is completely disingenuous. And yes sir, I'm smart enough to write big words, so no need to use your analogy about items hiding in your pocket and needing an X-ray to see what's in it, on me. Timing is not of the essence there. I waited about 25 minutes for the man to appear, and he whistled his way into the room nonchalant and unapologetic. My son was hungry - it was 12:45 and his appt was at noon. His other associate who worked on my daughter's tooth numbed her and returned about 15-20 minutes afterwards to work on crown. My daughter whimpered through the drilling, likely because the numbing wasn't enough or it wore off due to the long gap of time waiting. Unacceptable. I trusted these people and thank the Lord I woke the heck up by these past two experiences. read more

We were told my older son had one cavity and my younger son had 3. I took the younger one in to have his fillings done and it was an awful experience. My son has always loved the dentist but we left without allowing any work to be done bc we were so uncomfortable. We switched to a different practice and new X-rays show no cavities at all. Not sure how we went from 4 cavities to 0... Find a different dentist! read more

My kids are super happy here and so am I! They are great practitioners with great chair side manner and great service. Appointments are available at good times for working parents and their dental care is outstanding! I hated going to the dentist as a kid. I'm so glad mine don't feel that way thanks to these folks! read more

This is an awful dental practice in every way. First of all, they lied to me about being in network with Cigna Dental - They are not! They also told me they called my insurance and everything is fine- my insurance told me they never called. And they charged me $400 for a routine exam for a healthy kid. Insurance told me this practice charges ridiculous prices and I should file a complaint. Don't go here!!! read more

Took our 3-year old here for his first dental checkup. The staff was wonderful and so good with him. He is a pretty energetic kid and remained in the seat and listened to the dental tech and dentist the entire time. Great experience for him and us! I deducted one star because he didn't actually get into the dentist chair until more than 30 min after his original appointment time, which can be troublesome for taking off work or scheduling your day. What a great experience! We set up an appointment because my 2.5 yr old daughter was told she had two cavities (by another dentist) and needed to see a specialist. I called the office and they worked with my insurance so I knew how much out of pocket I'd have to pay even before our appointment (which was pretty much nothing!). They were so great with my daughter and Dr. Jerry was able to complete a thorough examination without tears and found no cavities. We will now be seeing them on a regular basis! The visit went fine. However they failed to mention that they were out of network for my insurance. O set up the appointment a month prior to the visit. Checked to see if they have all my insurance information and if everything was good before the visit. Then I received a bill for $400. Never once did they mention they were out of network until after bill. They had ample time to check insurance and advise me accordingly. My fault for not specifically asking them, thought that's what I was doing by giving my insurance information a month in advance. Please be aware!!! read more

Dr. Wendy and the rest of the gals here are great! I personally hate going to the dentist so picking one for our four year old was very stressful. We went here under the recommendation of a close friend. Our first appointment went smooth, they really know how to treat kids so they are not intimidated. Each procedure was explained to us in detail before they performed them. My son sat through the initial cleaning and exam, and even was excited at the end when they offered him a "prize" to pick out. We had to return the next day to get a cap in a molar that had a cavity. Again, I was impressed how well they treated my son to this fairly complex procedure. We have a couple more follow ups the next few weeks to take care of some smaller cavities and I have no doubt my son won't have any fears about going back. read more

The assistant told me and my 2 year old son she was going to brush his teeth with the toothpaste again, but instead applied fluoride. I told her I did not want fluoride treatments for my kids and I really wished she had said truthfully what she was doing. I mentioned my concern to dr. Ewers and his reply was it was standard treatment and they have 30 years experience. When I said I was not comfortable with lying about what was happening and not being giving a chance to decline the treatment, dr. Ewers said it sounded like we would be happier at another practice. read more

To start off, Dr. Mike retired and this business ended up in the hands of Dr. Udelson. Dr. Mike was fun and you could tell he cared for you the second you walked in that door, BUT Dr. Udelson doesn't seem to care about his patients. Talk about trying to make a buck off your child. As a parent Dr. Udelson forces your child into taking X-rays which my kids have never enjoyed. They don't make them fun and you can hear other children screaming at moments. I have heard from other unpleased parents that Dr. Udelson drops long time patients of Dr. Mikes and refused to see them when they are no longer little (or should I say, able to be forced into unnecessary treatment). I don't understand how the business of dentistry could change so much between one owner to the next. Dr. Mike was a loving and caring person and this man just wants to make money off of you. I don't know why it was sold to this man but holy cow was that a horrible decision! I will never bring my child back here! especially for any type of filings or dental work in general. He is an untrustworthy guy and I can NOT believe people like him can even work with children... But I guess it makes complete sense because he can do whatever he pleases for the money! Take my word! This man is not worth it. Find another pediatric dentist who cares for the kids that come through there door. Gosh! Dr. Mike if you can read this, MANY kids miss you! Thank you for not making their dental experience a nightmare like this new man! read more
