Let me begin by saying that I have not physically been to this dental office. I am in the Army and receive my dental care on the installation. With that being said, I would still give 100 stars to this office if YELP would allow it. My review is based on my dealings with one of the dentists at this office- Dr. Bennett. Dr. Bennett is an extremely talented professional. When I think of someone who practices any sort of medicine, it is with the hope that they are doing so with a deep passion for helping people. He does this and more. He is incredibly personable and I feel very comfortable discussing any issues I have with him. Any time I have a question, he makes himself available to answer it. He is attentive, caring, and goes out of his way to ensure that I get the answer I NEED and not the answer I want. There have been multiple instances where I have had a dental question, and he has taken his time (uncompensated) to give me his professional opinion and recommendation so that I can decide how to move forward with my own treatment. If I was ever given the option, I would use this office- hands down. Anyone that receives care from him is incredibly lucky because he will ensure you are taken care of in the manner that is most appropriate for your condition. Thanks for all that you do! read more

I met with a dentist at the Lombard office on 3/18/26 for a evaluation for a broken denture. The dentist told me I would receive a call with a price estimate.....I'm still waiting for the call as today 04/04/26 but I did receive a bill for the incomplete evaluation consultation. I would highly recommend staying far away from Grove Dental. read more

Very frustrating trying to schedule with them, for peds appts anyway. They may say they are accepting new patients but scheduling is 5+ months out, so its not practically helpful for new patients wanting appts soon. Have been on two calls, both over 15 minutes, and no appts to show for it. One appt I had for one kid, they inadvertently cancelled while I was on the phone with them and it was subsequently lost to someone else in the split second. Just so frustrating. We'll try somewhere else instead. read more

Screwed me and my daughter out of our appointment times on three occasions with no communication setting back our healthcare by months. Also, they butchered my mouth when I had an implant come loose, they told me that all they needed to do was tighten the screw, they ended up breaking my implant, then charged me for a new one, then during that procedure they took lasered away my gum line, leaving a hole in the front of my mouth, then they tried charging me an additional 3 grand for a gum graft until I threatened litigation. This is a place of nightmares! read more

Gave me an "estimate" without saying it was an estimate, claiming that my x rays would be "a little over $10" , later a $109 bill comes in the mail and they refuse to admit fault. finding a new dentist. can't believe that they would lose a customer of 22 years over $100. i will never be going back. read more

We had never been to Grove Dental Associates before today, and just got back from seeing Dr. Patel for an emergency dental situation. They were the third dentist I called and squeezed us in - taking us literally 20 minutes after I called them. I couldn't be more appreciative! Last night my son was playing and fell face first. At first I only saw and addressed his split lip. Once I got us cleaned up (oh, the blood!), I settled him down and put him to bed. It was only this morning that I noticed that he had chipped the same tooth he chipped 4 months ago. It looked sharp and jagged. I called two other dentists (including mine), but no one is open due to the holidays coming up! Grove Dental Associates WERE, took my call, and got us in ASAP to be seen. Dr. Patel was so kind, personable, and patient. She explained what she needed to do to examine him, including x-rays to see if there was a tooth fragment inside my son's lip. Since I'm pregnant, she opted to hold him for x-rays. My son (16.5 months old) will gladly go to strangers, but is obviously scared/upset/in pain. He's also very strong. Unfortunately he moved too much and they couldn't get clear x-rays, so we had to move to restraining him with a papoose board. Cue the momma tears!! The staff that assisted Dr. Patel were equally kind and sympathetic towards both my son and myself (even handing me tissues). They got the x-rays, which did reveal a tooth fragment in my son's lip. Dr. Patel attempted to remove it. Unfortunately it's not clear if she got it due to his swollen lip. Now we have to watch it. She told me what to look for regarding behavior/possible infection, and we have a follow-up in about a month. Dr. Patel gave me her contact information, including email, in case I needed to ask questions over the holiday. THAT was so appreciated, too! An emergency dental visit was NOT on our radar, obviously. I'm so thankful that Grove Dental Associates was there for us for our emergency situation! Not only from a medical perspective, but it helped my own well-being (having been horribly upset that this happened a second time and panicked about what to do/who could see my son)! And, unfortunately, my son isn't insured until January 1st, but the cost was reasonable. read more

Love the dentists and hygienists but the financial people are terrible. They charge annual deductibles multiple times (won't let you out without paying it) and sit on your money even after insurance says you don't owe anything. read more

Update: Still think the dental care was really good. However, my bill estimate was really far off and it was expensive. They worked to accommodate me some - which I appreciate. However, I warn that if you have traditional (non-PPO) insurance, I would really encourage you to contact your insurance company on your own to be sure what's covered and expect to have "balance billing" on the full amount above whatever your insurance company thinks the fees should be. Dr. Bennet is the absolute best! When I switched insurance policies, I needed to find a new dentist, and after growing up my whole life with the same one, I was honestly surprised to find a new one that is even BETTER!! Dr. Bennet is as excellent a conversationalist as he is a dentist, and he really goes the extra mile to meet the needs of his patients. I needed some orthodontic work done, and it turns out he could help with that too, which is extremely convenient. I also appreciate the extent he goes to to ensure I have all the information I need to take great preventative care of my teeth while also being very mindful with coding everything properly for insurance, which I deeply appreciate. Their $99 cleaning, exam and x-rays offer is a bait and switch scam. They rescheduled the appointment 3 times. The last time asking me to come in at 4pm. At 3pm the day of I received a text reminder for a 5pm appointment. The office closes at 6. X-rays and an exam procedure seemed normal but then I was told I needed a deep cleaning which could not be done that day because it was so late. The deep cleaning was of course more expensive, and the front desk told me the offer was only for new customers so even a regular cleaning would not be covered on a second visit. When I pointed out that I did not receive all the services as advertised in the $99 package the front desk told me services rendered today would be $153 because I received special x-rays and exam. I asked for a price schedule of services. They said they had none. They told me that they could give me a 20% discount on the next filling. Which means their prices are inflated by 20% so they could always give a discount. I left the office having paid $99 for only 2 or 3 services promised, an estimate for over $3K in future work and supposedly owing another 54 dollars they said they would try to get their supervisor to wave. I have no idea as to the quality of their dental skills, but their business practices are deceitful. I did not check the Yelp reviews before I went. Others reported similar experiences and advised finding a more ethical dental group. I wish I had. read more

I recently switched to Grove Dental in Lombard and saw Dr. Michael Bennett. I was really happy that I did! First of all, I love the hours of this practice- it made it very convenient for me and they always got me in when I needed (which was quite frequent for a while because I've been breaking crowns due to stress), even on a Saturday. I was really impressed with everyone I met here- they have a large staff and everyone was pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable. I had some nice conversations with Kayla especially. I also appreciated how they handled the financial aspects and explained insurance and also how they handled payments. Dr. Michael Bennett is an excellent dentist. He really knows what he is doing and clearly cares about getting things right. He is very thorough and what I appreciated the most is how well he explained things and how he educated me on my teeth/mouth/dental issues. I felt like I finally understood what was going on and that is very helpful and a relief. I got a kick out of Dr. Bennett's quirkiness, though. He told me A LOT more than I've ever been told about my mouth and my bite and I wonder if other dentists felt the same way yet didn't say anything out of politeness or something. I'm glad to know what my issues are but some of the phrases are sticking with me like "you have an extremely small and difficult mouth to work in" and "I can't get over how much saliva you produce" and "you have a very bizarre bite". Again, helpful information to know but a little strange to hear. My recent cleaning was more painful than I had hoped and the hygienist commented, "Wow, you really don't like getting your teeth cleaned, do you?" No, not really. ??? Another thing is that I never felt shamed by anyone who worked on my teeth, which I have felt with other dentists/assistants/hygienists in the past- I think that is another positive here (and I was here probably 5 or 6 times in the past couple of months so there was plenty of opportunity). We are going to be moving out of state and I'm disappointed because I feel comfortable in this office (as comfortable as I probably will ever be in a dentist's office) and with the people at Grove Dental. Grove Dental Lombard is by far the best practice. Dr. Hollis, and her assistants are truly the sweetest group of ladies you will ever meet. I enjoyed my time speaking to Christine about raising our children and all the crazy stuff a parent goes through to make their kids smile. She is retiring in April and she will truly be missed! Thank you for your kindness and laughs we shared together! All of Dr. Hollis assistants walk you through your plan of treatment in a way you can understand. The quality of their equipment is unlike any other. I had a permanent retainer put in when my braces were removed when I was 16 years old. I am 26 now and i have NEVER had any issues with it or has it EVER moved or been close to even falling off. They take tremendous care and time with each visit. The effort, patience, and professionalism is what truly makes the Lombard office stand out from any other Grove Dental location. read more

I first went to Grove Dental (Lombard) when I needed my wisdom teeth removed probably seven years ago. Having taken the x-rays and looked at my previous dental records it was obvious this was not going to be a simple procedure. Grove dental took the time to review everything with me, went through my insurance and before anything was done, I knew what my out of pocket was going to be. Since then I have been going regularly. I will admit that I neglected my dental care for a number of years, but working with the best hygienist (Megan) and one of the true gentlemen who work in the dental practice (Dr. Frenzel) I have come a long way in getting back on track. Everyone at the Lombard location is just so nice, it really puts you at ease. Prior to my first visit, I can tell you that I was actually shaking in the chair. From the point that you arrive to the time that Dede sends you on your way (say hi to Dede, she's awesome), you feel cared for. I have had fillings, root canals, dental surgery and each and every time, I had the option to sit down and review how much and how long each event would be. Grove work with your insurance and try to lay out as many options as they can. This level of professionalism is very much appreciated and why I keep going back. Megan always has suggestions for how I can step it up and listening to her has made a difference. I actually look forward to my visits and that is purely based on the level of trust I have with Grove Dental. read more

This is the place for those with dental phobia, like me. I was immediately put at ease by the front desk associate who was calming and welcoming. The wait time was short considering they squeezed me in for an emergency visit. I was immediately tended to by the dental assistant who was very accommodating to my fears. She ensured I was comfortable and explained what she was going to do before I see the dentist. Immediately after x-rays were taken, Dr. Hollis came in and explained the situation. Dr. Hollis is a true professional and passionate about her work, which is evident when speaking with her. She takes the time to listen to all your concerns, answers all questions in a way you can understand, continuously asks if you're doing ok while work is being done and will immediately stop if you're not... even her voice is soothing. Bottom line, each staff member abides by a higher than average level of service and it shows. read more

I would give negative starts if I could. I am being billed for services that were not provided to me. My appointment is being cancelled constantly with no explanation why, but the bill is being send with threats to send to collection agency. Again, I can pay my portion of the bill, but provide the service first. I already reported this issue to Better Business Bureau. Also, this dentist charged my insurance more money than originally agreed on. I guess when someone has good insurance they take the opportunity to overcharge for their advantage. read more

Wow I don't even know where to begin. In 2009 I was briefly dating a hygienist from this office who convinced me to give them a try. I had been going to a small family dentist for years prior to this experience. Anyway, I knew I had a cavity and that it might be a root canal. So I scheduled an appointment and went in. At the appointment the staff doctor performing exam and eventually the procedure, informed me that the tooth directly adjacent to the tooth undergoing the root canal also had a cavity and it would be advantageous to get them both done at the same time. I informed her that due to Grove's costing structure it would put me over my insurance limit by $900. She insisted that she would adjust the bill because I was dating a staff member; however I received nothing in writing, all verbal. In hindsight, this was my first mistake. After some deliberation I agreed to and completed the procedure. However as you can guess I was billed at the original costing structure, which put me $900 over the insurance limit. My then hygienist girlfriend asked me to drop it because it was her job, and she didn't want problems. So I begrudging started making payments, I was in school at the time and funds were tight. During this time I obviously returned to my family dentist. Fast forward a year, the hygienist and me break up and I decide to blow off the remainder of the disputed bill. At this point I should have contested in writing. Live and learn, but this was a huge misstep on my part. In the end, Grove Dental sued me in small claims court over a disputed $600. Due to lack of evidence on my part, I settled out of court by paying the disputed amount. Ironically enough the Sheriff that served me my court papers said that he sees more Grove Dental suits than any other in the area. Welcome to America, where "health care providers" change prices and sue clients......and then they wonder why no one trusts the 'System". Patient BEWARE!!!!! Dr. Bennett and Sandra make a great team. They are not only very knowledgeable but very personable as well. Dr. Bennett does a great job of educating me on preventive care and dental health. When I cracked a tooth, he fit me in the middle of a busy day & he never made me feel rushed. He knew I was upset about the situation & was very compassionate. He couldn't save the tooth but he did make me a beautiful implant. He did a crown for another tooth which I have been very happy with. He also made me a mouth guard to protect my teeth from my night time grinding & it fits great. Sandra is a wonderful hygienist & I couldn't be happier. I really like Grove Dental! After the experience that I had at my last dentist where he asked me to take my blouse off, this place is a breath of fresh air! They're professional and up front about charges, which is also a switch from my previous hack... I like that Grove gives you an instant discount if you pay your portion of the bill at the same visit! Last time, I saved $58! Marybeth has called me a couple of times to see how I was doing and to help schedule my next step in my dental plan. Very helpful!!! Just had a root canal... Dentist never introduced himself to me (which is kind of a pet-peeve with me) and was not the least bit warm or friendly... kinda the opposite extreme from my previous flirtatious dentist. I'm finally leaving a review on this Jekyll and Hyde, sheep in wolves clothing pediatric dentist office and unfortunately I can't give it any less than a one. We stopped going here a few years ago. Everything started out fine and we got a great impression of this place; Very friendly Dr., clean office, friendly assistance etc. We had gone there for a while and every six months it seemed that all of my children had multiple cavities every single time. We took their word for it did pulpotomies, silver caps put on, everything that they told us they needed to have done. It wasn't until they told me that my not quite four-year-old needed to have extensive work done and that they wanted to put him under. That was a red flag for me and I decided to get a second opinion which I did. That new dentist said I am not seeing all of this work that needs to be done, I see one little cavity and one that maybe we'll just watch. and guess what we didn't go back and have all of that work done, we did not have him put under for obvious reasons and his teeth are perfect now. I was really angry with this place and because I was looking into legal action I chose not to send any payments for any remaining balance that we had. They must be hurting for money because of all of this and decided to garnish my husband's wages to get the thousand dollars. Yes that was done through their lawyer. We are completely free and clear of these people now but I will warn you we are not the only ones having this experience you will see many many many people all over the place that go here that have the same experience with their children having multiple cavities then going somewhere else and finding out they don't have any. Run away! do not go here! they are horrible! read more

My family and I have gone to this office for years, had our braces done here, I had no choice but to switch after my sister's wisdom tooth surgery was botched. The surgeon only was able to get one out, and she had to go to the emergency room to take the additional ones out IN ANOTHER STATE WHERE SHE LIVES and goes to school, it was really difficult for her. She has a small dent in her face now that she is really self conscious of. We are suing the surgeon who does not work there anymore, and the office receptionist said "I'm not surprised that your kids do not want to come back" to my mother... WOW that says a lot! She still goes there for teeth cleanings but my sister and I are terrified to go back there. They also charge way too much now. Grove, you were excellent about 5 years ago but I'm moving over to Tyron Hill DDS. PLEASE SCREEN YOUR DOCTORS! read more

I am someone who hates the dentist and typically goes several years in between appointments. But I've been much mess reluctant since going to Grove. Dr. Bennett is great. My first appointment I was nervous but he carefully explained everything that would happen. He was very conscientious of my nerves giving me breaks when I was feeling overwhelmed and asking how I was doing and making sure I wasn't in pain. I continued to see Dr. Bennett since my first experience was so positive. I saw him twice when each of my front teeth were chipped. He was able reconstruct my front teeth probably making them better looking then they were before (and they were pretty good front teeth to begin with). Most importantly, my front teeth matched each other and I was able to get an appointment quickly. I also saw Dr. Bennett to fill some cavities and he was thorough and caring. He was aware of my prior anxiety about dental work and made sure I was comfortable. I have had no issues with my fillings. Everyone at Grove is super nice, thorough, and willing to help. I had an awesome experience with Grove Dental. It stated with the front desk. The receptionist was Jeanine and she was very nice and friendly. ALWAY a plus! My hygienist was Michelle. She was so incredibly helpful and very friendly as well! She answered all questions and was very thorough. She had a lot of great suggestions and was very respectful. I felt right at home here and was incredibly comfortable. I even scheduled my 6 month appointment...I NEVER do that. I'm flakey lol but the experience I had was such a pleasure I was excited to go back! Deedee helped me checkout and was so funny and again, super friendly!! A true dentist practice with 24-7 call is invaluable. I have been with Grove Dental (Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Lombard) for 40 years. I specifically chose Grove Dental practices throughout all my moves in the western suburbs b/c they could accommodate emergencies. In my teens, I had *that* bloody emergency with knocked out front teeth. Decades later, I brought in my 3y/o son who knocked his front teeth "out" (actually knocked back into his maxilla). I am so very pleased with: Dr. Hollis (General) - Super nice, warm, perfectionist (a great thing for a good smile), trustworthy, goes above & beyond all the time. Dr. Patel (Pediatrics) - Super nice, trustworthy, my kids are in good hands Dr. Allen (Orthodontics) - Super nice (it's a theme), trustworthy, and other dentists see him! Dr. Sackheim (Periodontics) - Super nice, trustworthy, goes above and beyond to make the right decision (showed my case to international experts!) Dr. Bennett (General) - Super nice, trustworthy, squeezed me in for urgent procedure even though he was overbooked!!! I am not a dentist, but I see complications from horrendous cavities, injuries, etc all the time. Find someone you trust and go with their expertise. We have been with Grove Dental Associates for our family dentistry for over thirty years. We have always been very pleased with the quality of the dental work, and the professional level of the staff who work there. All the staff members are all very personable as well - they are very customer service oriented. Recently my wife, Catherine, had to have emergency repairs on two molars. Grove was able to fit her in to repair the teeth within a couple of days on each occasion. Dr. Bennett did the work, along with Sandy, the dental assistant, and we really appreciated their flexibility, as well as the skilled work that was performed. Many people on their staff have been there for many years, so, to me, that is a positive indication of the type of working environment that exists there for the staff as well. read more

BEWARE. This place doesn't even deserve one star. They over drug kids with nitrous and place them in shackles. Went there for a year and my kids had to have so many dental procures. Left and they haven't had a cavity in 2 years. Had to have a Grove Dental cavity redone - and my champ did it without being pinned to the chair or breathing in nitrous. Dr. Menka and her team have been working with my special needs son, for years. They have performed surgeries, as well as helped ease him into the chair for cleanings, which isn't always easy! CONSISTENTLY good service...first had the father, now the son for my dentist. But they have GREAT hygienists--especially Susan--who do an outstanding job on cleanings. I LOVE Grove Dental in Lombard! I used to hate going to the dentist, even just to have my teeth cleaned. I was always experiencing pain and anxiety to the point my last dentist wanted to give me nitrous oxide every time I came in. Enter Dr. Frenzel and Hygienist Susan...I've had my teeth cleaned, a root canal and a crown and absolutely NO anxiety or pain! And no nitrous oxide either!! They very much care about your comfort and keeping you pain free. The entire staff is super friendly from Dr. Frenzel and Susan to the insurance girl and the front desk people...All great. You will always know your estimated portion of any procedure beforehand and they have always worked with us to ensure we are paying the least amount possible out of pocket. This has been my and my husbands experience with Grove Dental in Lombard and with Dr. Frenzel and Hygienist Susan. Love them!! read more
