I first encountered Joe at the Mercy Healthplex in Anderson Township, where he was that facility's top trainer as measured by client revenue. After working with him for a few months, I realized why he was in such demand. Joe evaluates a client's stated objectives and the client's attitude and appetite for training, then provides an effective approach that doesn't overwhelm the client's ability to perform. In my case I asked Joe to keep it fresh, providing a variety of exercises to keep our sessions interesting. With his depth of knowledge, providing variety was easy for him. I never knew you could work so hard without actually touching a piece of iron. He introduced me to bands, balls and moves that relied solely on the weight of my own body, mixing these in with more traditional exercises using all of the equipment available at the Healthplex. Joe eventually opened his own practice, working out of a large, bright suite in an office building in the Cherry Grove area. I was skeptical, doubting that working with such a reduced array of equipment would be as enjoyable or effective. One session relieved me of those concerns. My workouts leave me both exhausted and energized, and I feel no lack of equipment or variety. I bring my ipod, which docks in Joe's sound system, so I work out to my own music. The smaller, quieter space actually allows for more communication and less distraction. Finally, I would point out that, as an older client (over 60), my body is more prone to injury. Joe's work with me has never produced an injury, but he has often had to work around injuries (usually inflamed tendons and ligaments) and help in facilitating their repair. That kind of skill is invaluable to me at my age. In summary, anybody with a certificate can load a barbell and play drill instructor. The true professional produces consistent results while sustaining the client's commitment to a program. Based on my experience, Joe Moses is best in class.

You can either do personal training sessions or classes. This is not a gym where you go workout by yourself when you want. I went to a circuit class that lasted 60 minutes including stretching at the beginning and the end. The first half is 8 stages of exercises focused on weight training. You do each exercise and then repeat the round for a total of three times. Each stage is 40 seconds on, 20 seconds rest. With a break after each round. The next half is very similar but with cardio, 20 seconds on 10 seconds rest. Man could I feel the burn at the end! After the class was over, Josh our instructor (who I also found out is the owner), stayed to take his time and answer so many questions for us and show us some extra tips. He went the extra mile and took his own time at no cost to us to help out and make sure we had a good experience. This is definitely a place to go if you're looking for results. These people will help get you there. Your first class is free, and they even have a great introductory rate for your first 3 personal training classes! (I'll be signing up for those)!

I love this place! After a while, trying new gyms felt like going on a bunch of bad dates: they…read moredidn't have the equipment I was looking for, the gym was too cramped, etcetera. Crunch Fitness has great staff, everything you could want equipment wise, and is spread out so you have space to do your workout. Service: Crunch Fitness on Beechmont has great service! Any time I've had an issue, they're prompt at addressing it. From the trainers to the front desk employees, everyone is friendly and helpful. Equipment: This location is the best gym in the area. They have plenty of cardio machines, weight machines, sleighs, a tire to flip, squat racks, plenty of free weights...really whatever you're looking for. Classes: They offer a wide array of classes. The general classes that come free with the membership are great for basics/beginners. If you're looking for more of a challenge, try the small group classes. They will give you a great workout and the trainers watch you for form and will help you. It gives you more of that one-on-one attention without paying for a personal trainer. I loved it! Make sure to check the class schedule and that the times work for you before signing up. Classes are early in the morning or right after work. Hours: 24/7!!!!! They have special holiday hours, but I love how flexible the hours are. I can come whenever I want and get my workout in. If I ever find myself back in Cincinnati, I will be joining this gym again. I still pop by whenever I'm in town. Thanks for the great workouts! :)

I had heard really good things about Crunch, so I was excited to join. Unfortunately, once I…read moreactually started going, I was pretty disappointed. The exercise room is much smaller than I expected, especially considering how busy the gym gets. There also isn't nearly as much equipment as I would have hoped for, and I find many of the machines overly complicated and difficult to figure out. The hours also aren't the best, with the gym closing at 9pm on weekends. On top of that, the membership is fairly expensive, especially if you plan on adding the classes. Overall, I just don't feel like it's worth the cost or hype, and I won't be doing my typical workouts here. A big reason for my low rating is the experience I had at the front desk. When I came in for the first time after signing up, I asked how to sign in and was completely ignored. The employees turned their backs to me and acted like I was stupid for not knowing what to do. One of them eventually took my phone and signed me in himself without explaining anything or showing me how to do it. After that, I was left to wander around the gym on my own without even a simple hello or acknowledgment. For a first-time member, I expected at least some basic customer service and an introduction to the facility. Instead, I immediately felt unwelcome. Combined with the other issues I mentioned about the equipment and membership cost, it really contributed to my overall disappointment with Crunch.
