My abs and obliques right now hurt when I bend over, in a good way though, you know "hurt so good"... yeah, in that way. Ryan was our trainer last night and he did an excellent job of keeping the energy up and the motivation going. He really made me feel like I did have 20 more seconds in me, I could really make it through! He did fail to mention though that you might feel like you can't take a deep breath in for the next day and a half, but don't worry, that's just weakness leaving the body. I love that the workouts are just 45 minutes and you really get a full body exercise that i have no doubt you will see results with. The gym itself is a great, open, clean space with different equipment options that indicates the variety of workouts you may experience in your time here. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if your looking to get a great workout where you will see real results and feel like a community while you're at it!

The trainers were awesome and super motivating, I really enjoyed when Ryan would say motivating things throughout the workout "be comfortable being uncomfortable" was something I really listened to! It was about 45 min-1 hour and we did what was called Tabatta and worked our core, we were moving the entire time! We split into smaller groups to transition through different stations / used different equipment - we did 30 seconds of an exercise, and then 10 minutes holding a position, which was hard but I liked the variety of things that we did. The music I listened to was great, and the atmosphere was very high energy! Also, I really like the before and after pictures on the wall of people doing these classes/program that have lost weight - it's super motivating! By the way - On Saturdays they do a class (free I believe?) and they also have a 14 day trial that you can do if you're unsure about joining!

We warmed up on the treadmills and then since there were 6 of us, Megan set up six stations/exercise for 1 minute of work and we did this two times. Then, she set up a second round. We finished with ab work. During this time, there was only one other trainer working with one person and they finished before we were done. It was a fast and fun workout that wasn't boring. My fear with boot camps is it is a way for trainers to be lazy and just throw out some dumb bells and jump rope and say have at it for X minutes. If I wanted to do that, I'd go to my garage with a workout I found on Pinterest. This workout used sandbags, plyo boxes, medicine balls, resistance bands, TRX, bosu and the usual jump ropes, dumb bells and mat floor work. If you're looking for a place north of 275 for small group personal training-type workouts, check out this place.

Megan works with my schedule and is flexible with her schedule as well. She learned what my goals are and tailors workouts to meet them even in bootcamp and semi-private settings. She is very personable and easy going to get along with. Even when I complain! As a single mother I have my 9 year old daughter with me almost every workout and Megan has even entertained my her and has sparked such an interest in her to get fit and grow strong! Megan has helped me transform my body into something I love! I'm leaner and stronger and I surprise myself every session with how much better I'm getting due to her guidance and expertise. Needless to say, if you're looking for a personal trainer or gym, or you are on the fence, definitely check her out at Custom Physiques. Plus the gym is private and never overcrowded. It has been one of the best investments I've ever made!

You can either do personal training sessions or classes. This is not a gym where you go workout by yourself when you want. I went to a circuit class that lasted 60 minutes including stretching at the beginning and the end. The first half is 8 stages of exercises focused on weight training. You do each exercise and then repeat the round for a total of three times. Each stage is 40 seconds on, 20 seconds rest. With a break after each round. The next half is very similar but with cardio, 20 seconds on 10 seconds rest. Man could I feel the burn at the end! After the class was over, Josh our instructor (who I also found out is the owner), stayed to take his time and answer so many questions for us and show us some extra tips. He went the extra mile and took his own time at no cost to us to help out and make sure we had a good experience. This is definitely a place to go if you're looking for results. These people will help get you there. Your first class is free, and they even have a great introductory rate for your first 3 personal training classes! (I'll be signing up for those)!

I was scared the first time, as I did not want to be drilled like in a real Bootcamp. You will be challenged but not humiliated in front of others. And yes, Trisha also provides you with nutritional guidance which I appreciate. Would recommend this to anyone :) ~~~~~ Update: 6 months later, I am still in love!!! Although I consider myself to be in relatively good shape, my muscles were very sore the day after my first workout, which tells me that the 45 minutes were well spent! The instructor is very helpful, and is quick to correct my form when I am not doing something correctly. Unfortunately this is not true of all boot camps, as a more expensive boot camp I did recently never corrected my form in the month I was there (and I know I couldn't have been doing everything right!). I like that they also give you a comprehensive nutrition plan, and many helpful suggestions, recognizing that diet is important if you truly want a healthy body. This is a great place for the novice or the experienced!

If you like to get outside or just want a change of pace from indoor or home gyms, ELMNTL Fitness is the place to go. The workouts are total body and always different. Price is reasonable + given the great workouts + instruction, totally worth every penny. Least Favorite: Inclement weather can be tougher to work out in. Bonus Mention: It's dog friendly! :) Adorable pups are allowed to join in. If you're looking for a seriously challenging workout and would love to get fit while surrounded by trees, grass, fresh air and the gorgeous outdoors (sometimes a river view!), you've found it! Not only do you get a great workout, you get to meet a group of welcoming, encouraging folks and get personal one-on-one help from an experienced, knowledgeable instructor. Prior to ELMNTL Fitness, I was someone who kept to herself as far as workouts. At the gym, I kept to myself and usually only hit up treadmill machines. I'd go for solo runs or home workouts. I didn't know much about how different workouts affected and helped different muscle groups. I avoided people and didn't challenge myself to try new moves. Since ELMNTL Fitness, I've discovered so much - about outdoor workouts, about different workouts and how they affect my body, about how a friendly, welcoming group of folks can add to my workout experience, my body and my strengths + weaknesses. My husband convinced me to go to an ELMNTL session in winter of 2012. How he got me to get up for a 5:30 a.m. session in the cold I don't know, but I attended the first workout and was nervous as could be. I knew I was in a group of people who attended regularly and was incredibly self-conscious - of my body, my fitness level, and being judged for all of the above. Kevin, the instructor, welcomed me (as did his adorable dog Mason) and was very friendly! I attended my first session and was floored about how kind everyone was - even though many of them are in peak physical condition, they all cheered me on even though I know they could do far better than me. No judgement, no criticism - just acceptance and encouragement. I have to admit - first workout was brutal, but it was an all-over body pain that, while uncomfortable, made me feel great in what I'd done and that my entire body was getting worked out! My usual go-to was running, and you don't feel the great full body exhaustion you get after an ELMNTL workout. I've been attending fairly regularly since then, and while there is usually a mix of regular attendees and new folks, everyone is so welcoming and supportive! We all encourage each other no matter where we're at physically. The workouts themselves are always changing, which I love. I'm easily bored with workouts and usually once boredom sets in, I quit. I need variety as it keeps my interest and Kevin is always changing it up! Sometimes the workouts are cardio-intensive, sometimes a mix of cardio + strength, and one thing I love about ELMNTL is that Kevin will literally demo + explain each move to let us know what we're working out and how to correctly work out. He also keeps an eye out for bad form - while he's not over my shoulder the entire workout, he is definitely looking out for each person and helps correct my form to prevent injury. I'm very thankful for that as correct form has always been a struggle for me (especially when I worked out by myself at home). The workouts are fantastic and change to accommodate each season. They're challenging and Kevin works to tailor each session with custom workouts to challenge each person and the group. I've noticed serious improvement in my body and also in my physical capabilities since attending - definitely built some muscle and can do many more pushups and walking planks than when I first started! And for a dog owner like me, it's great to have an opportunity to bring my pup out with me! He loves it just as much and gets a chance to run around with me. Thanks to Kevin for being so dog-friendly! Besides the great improvement in my health, body and fitness level, I've also had such an increase in my confidence level. I never believed I could do what I've found I can with ELMNTL workouts - from monkey bar swings to rope climbs to hill sprints, I have such a feeling of accomplishment after every workout, even if I'm not the best at them. I have a newfound confidence and appreciation for myself for both my physical strength and capability as well as my mental attitude - I find I'm more excited and ready for challenges and feel a belief and faith in myself I did not have before.
