I called to make my month long reservation and no one mentioned no credit or debit cards. The was a broken water line when I arrived. The owner parked me and I do really appreciate that he helped me park and get level. He was off to fix the water line and I was off to pick up rental car so my check-in didn't get taken care of that day. The following business day, I returned from my overnight client and was sleeping when they called me to come to the office. I finished my nap and the owner was at my door to acting like I was avoiding him. I told them when I made my reservation and him when I arrived that I was on contract and work overnight. I went to the office and was informed that they needed a paper check or cash. Who uses paper checks anymore let alone who accepts them?? Since I am consistently traveling, I don't carry cash either. I told them that I would need to call my bank and had a check issued through BillPay. I forwarded the email from my bank that check would be coming. I was again woken up the next day because even though we discussed me forwarding this email, they didn't check their email and wanted confirmation of payment. I had made a reservation for a month and have never moved sooner but I found another campground with an opening and moved there after a week. Too much hassle! If you don't accept standard payment, don't be mad when people don't have another way to pay you ready to go.

We prefer the river sites personally for the views & fishing. The campground owners are fantastic people who've become friends. They live on site and take great pride in the property. The property is always impeccable. They are always working. Such a gorgeous place!! The pond is in the center of the property - yes you can fish (catch & release). Areas setup with hammocks, corn hole, seating, etc. The new playground has been a big hit! Oh, and there's also a dog park area. The bathhouses are super clean and have air conditioning. The laundry room is brand new with great units and also A/C. They incorporated additional activities this year over at the pavilion which our family has loved! Bingo, tie-dye t-shirts, food trucks, live music, and more! Our grandson loves to join us. Lots of kids and a great area for them to all play. Tubing the river is always a fun treat! You can bring your own tubes or rent from the campground. The camp store has expanded and features a great mix of items - t-shirts, hats, hoodies, koozies, and more. As well as local jams, rubs, and other treats. They're in the process of building a new office/camp store so we're excited to see this complete. We have a 40' fifth wheel. No problems every getting in. They accommodate all size rigs. All sites have a concrete pad, fire pit and very nice large picnic table. Sites are spacious and do not feel cramped like we've experienced at other campgrounds. Wi-Fi is generally pretty good. We've been able to work remote on some of our trips. We even had phone service our last trip (AT&T)! Lots to do in the area! Hiking, Linville Winery (yum!), Linville Caverns, Grandfather Mtn and so many other great places. The office staff can certainly provide plenty of recommendations, too. There are 2 grocery stores in town about 15min away. There's also a local dollar store about 5min away. We cannot say enough good things about MRFC. We've met some great campers there who we now call friends. We truly love this place and already have bookings for next year!

The staff is just like a helicopter parent, and they are extreme rule followers to a fault. Definitely the preferred experience is "Hey you've stayed here before, your site number is X, have a good day!!" But instead it's about a 20 minute check in every time and they really go through all of the rules every time. It's just a long and annoying process when you already know the ropes. It feels similar to a conversation with a police officer too, in the sense that you feel like they are looking for evidence to build some kind of case on you with everything you verbalize. There are two people on golf carts that pretty constantly patrol and drive past your site slowly inspecting your stuff. I very much feel like I'm in a fish bowl every time I stay here. It is not very private haha. But it does have a dump station, water fill up, power to charge my batteries, showers, and laundry. Everything necessary for a van life refresh day before heading off grid again. It's just very annoying that it comes at the cost of feeling like I'm on an overnight elementary school trip with chaperones dictating my every move.

Pros - Laundry room is very clean and well kept. Both bathhouses have been upgraded and have great water pressure in the showers. Lots of lighting and a long mirror across an entire wall made getting ready in the morning very easy. They have a pool and a putt putt course. Publix grocery store is right there, super convenient for grocery shopping or anything you may have forgotten. Staff is very friendly. Amazon locker at the gas station or having packages delivered to the campground office were great options. We enjoyed specials at the food truck that is in the outdoor seating part of the bar. In the growing season, it's also possible to purchase a box of veggies from the food truck owner if you ask. Cons - spots are small. Even in long term, spots are small and your neighbor's RV behind may literally be a foot or two from the back of your RV. There are not a lot of trees or green space on spots. There's a small dog park, and a little green space alongside the entrance road, but that's it. They say they do not take one night reservations, but there always seemed to be a handful of campers that only stayed one night. Campers coming in late, leaving early, and it's close to a pretty busy road - pretty noisy. We heard from others that monthly is not a thing, but we were able to rent a monthly spot. It may depend on who you talk to in the office when you call. We had to take our bird feeder down, because there is a pretty serious squirrel issue and they chew through wires.

So, don't bother ordering anything unless you can pickup at a nearby locker. My packages got accepted by mistake, and I got scolded when picking them up. This is crazy! One day a distraught camper with tears running down her face approached me while I was outside my rig. Turns out her dog died and she needed help moving the body. Maintenance told her they couldn't help because of THE RULES. I, of course, helped her move the body to her car. Inhumane...

Beautiful lake, nice boat ramp and a small beach area. Bath houses are old need to be upgraded but had good hot water. Most of the camping sites are permanent sites. Only ten sites that rent. Any site you that you may rent are all great. Graveled full hook ups and picnic table. A nice tree at every site so you do have some shade. Not far to bathhouses. Will be going back there for a weekend.
