If you want a free marathon with your flight, DEN delivers. On the bright side, thank goodness I arrived and departed through Concourse A. Being able to use the pedestrian footbridge meant I could completely bypass the overwhelming lower-level transit train and its massive crowds. Four stars for the stealth workout and the train-skipping escape route!

That said, leave extra time to get to connecting flights or just get to your terminal! Denver's two big hang-ups are 1) it's so damn big, and 2) it's 30 minutes from downtown. Oh, and I had the worst burger of my life at the Smashburger location here. But that's another story and not the airport's fault. Perhaps the best feature here that most travelers will use is the RTD train that leaves from the main terminal and ends up at the very pleasant Union Station in downtown Denver. Look for the signs to the train or ask at any information desk, they'll point you in the right direction. As of 2026 it was still only $10 one way. After you arrive at Union station it's a breeze to pick up an Uber to get the rest of the way to your destination.

Everything was on time and the first flight crew was great. The next flight out, the crew was equally great, the boarding process was fast, and the flight arrived early. Hard to beat that. They also were offering a $1500 travel credit if someone gave up their seat, but on the heels on a fun but mildly exhausting trip, I couldn't rally for it. Just wasn't in the cards this time but I appreciate them not crapping out a low ball offer like I've seen from Southwest where they roll a few points onto your account. $1500 is a real, "we mean business" kind of offer which is a good sign. In an era of consolidated airlines and travel delays, this was a welcome breath of fresh air. I probably need more info to really gauge it, but glad to try them out recently.

I flew one of their small CRJ jets. And while I'm diehard Delta, United's CRJs are a million times nicer and more updated than Deltas. No janky seats that are broken and leaning backward even when not reclined. Nice, new upholstery. Very clean. And a better designed flight attendant galley. They even have an open and free snack shop in first class, with cookies, candy, etc. I didn't check a bag because it was only a 30 hour trip and I packed a backpack. Another nice thing is that unlike Delta's/West Jet's CRJs, you can actually fit your personal item under the seat. Flight attendants were kind and helpful. Pilots kept us informed.

Sadly this location came up first on the list but in fact, I believe I was at East. I will try to relocate the review when I have access to a computer after this trip. When you know you need help getting through TSA with special accommodations, set it up in advance with TSA Cares. Because I was carrying through medications that cannot be X-Rayed, an agent was assigned to us in advance to walk us through. He met us as we arrived at the airport and was exceptional at getting us to the prearranged wheelchair pickup at United. He handled our ID scans and explained everything as we went through. He walked my medical pack through and returned it to me after we cleared. I can't thank John enough for all the help. When I have the opportunity, I will fill out the follow up from TSA. Yes, the airport was crowded this morning and they had asked us to come almost an hour earlier than normal as there are so many travelers like me, needing help to access an important trip. Thanks to John, I am sitting at the gate with comfortable seating and time to even write this review while my husband is out looking for his coffee. This new part of the A Gates concourse is amazingly still spotless. But that's for my airport review!

After passing through the full-body scanner and cleared, a young woman (mid-twenties?) comes up to me after I had retrieved my carry-on from the belt. Accompanied by a female TSA officer who looked younger than she was, she asked me if I would record her pat down. I said sure (I was in no rush). The young woman is clearly nervous, but the officer didn't help by telling her rudely to set her bag on the table. After pulling on a pair of gloves, she asks if she (the young woman) has ever been patted down before. No, it's her first time. Of course, the officer has to say (rudely), "Well, this one's going to be pretty through. I'm going to have to pat down your whole body with my hands, including sensitive areas." She then proceeded to quickly run through the procedures and told the woman to turn around, spread her legs, and put her arms out, palms up. What followed, I could only describe as a groping. The woman was wearing an oversized tee and black Lululemon leggings. The officer, from the back, said she was going to lift her shirt up to the top of the waistband. Fine. Then she said she was going to "use her fingers and pinch around the waistband to search you." It was not a pinch. The officer used her fingers to GRAB the leggings and pull them away from the body, more like. After finishing that, she proceeded to run her full hand across the INSIDE of the waistband! And boy, she put her hands pretty far up the "upper thigh". Both the back and front waistband and thigh checks were equally invasive. And her hand that was up in the thigh stayed up there when she searched...actually, I think it did. She put her hand so high up I couldn't even see the blue of her gloves. And mind you, the poor young woman is wearing skin-tight black leggings. I understand they need to check, but sheesh! But the chest pat down was the worst. Can't believe it actually happened like this. Officer first placed her left hand on the woman's shoulder, then her other hand straight up and down between the breasts, and proceeds to go up and down multiple times before sweeping below the bra line (for both sides). She then hesitated before moving on and used THE FRONT OF HER HAND to feel below the bra. She tells the woman "I need to check this area thoroughly, I think I feel something. Do you have anything concealed underneath your bra?" WHAT????!!! She then uses her hands with "significant pressure to ensure detection", as she put it, under the bra for a good five minutes, before finally clearing the area and moving on to finish the pat down. She also told the woman rudely not to wear leggings as they are "so tight and we officers have to make sure you're not hiding anything underneath, and we gotta check." TERRIBLE! Do bad I can't see the officer's badge, but she looked college-aged with her blond hair in a bun and was wearing the long-sleeved uniform shirt and blue gloves, obviously.
