My family has done around 20 or 30 escape rooms over the past 8 or 10 years, two of which were at this location. We just did their Great Outdoors room a couple of weeks ago, and what can I say? It was top notch and a lot of fun. Many of the escape rooms we've done at other places just make you solve a dozen puzzles that are all similar. Solve a numeric code. Solve another numeric code. Boring. But, this place's escape rooms have a much wider variety of types of puzzles to solve, and it's much more fun than just solving one number code after another. You have to figure out how to open one room, which leads to another room, which leads to another room, each room with different types of puzzles to solve. We still needed a few clues here and there, but, overall, the puzzles were tough, but not unsolvable. I don't want to give away too many details that would ruin the puzzles for readers. I'll just say that the rooms are quite clever, and full of nice surprises. We are in this town only about once a year, but, you can bet that we'll be back again next year. This bunch of escape rooms at this location is superior to the ones we tried at a different place up the road from a different organization. We loved the Great Outdoors room here. Dywane was helpful and friendly. Lots of surprises and exciting features. We had a group of 8 people, age 10-70, and we were all interested and engaged. I would definitely recommend! And you get a little prize at the end if you break out. read more

I do not like puzzles, so I was out voted on this as an activity. I must say the three teenagers that I was with and my husband all raved about this activity and gave it five stars. I was sort of meh. What we liked is that they had rated all of their escape rooms by how difficult they are to solve. In retrospect, I probably would've been happier in a medium difficulty vs the "very difficult" one we chose. I would guess this is almost impossible to solve, although they listed the solving rate at 15%. Our guide was very personable, showed us where the bathrooms were, guided us to our room, disappeared when instructed. There was a little camera and TV monitor where we can wave our hands at him and tell him we want a clue. My son told me I asked for too many clues but I got so frustrated! It was really kind of cool how involved everything was. All the red herrings, all the ways you have to think your way out of things, all the secret doors, secret rooms. But again, in the final room, I don't see how people could've lined up the things perfectly in order to solve the mystery. So basically, the president died and the world blew up. This tucked away location is a fantastic find! My first escape room experience was great! Our team of 3 conquered "The Butcher" Room with almost 18 minutes left! This is a must see/do. Game master Kay gave excellent clues. We used 3 of 4 clues allowed. Kay is bae So we went back and escaped the Crazy Cat Lady room, with 6 minutes & 35 seconds left. Jordan gave us fantastic clues! Our group did the outdoors room together and then split up and did the butcher and the Oval Office. All three were absolutely amazing! Best escape rooms we have ever done. My family and I love escape rooms and therefore, very selective when we search for an escape room to explore. My husband read Elusive's reviews (great reviews) and we decided to give it a try. First room we bought tickets for was "Serial Killer - The Butcher".... what an experience!!! In fact, this was one of our favorite escape rooms. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned the next day to attempt "Olympus Under Siege". Both escape rooms didn't disappoint!! The owner and his wife did a fantastic job with the rooms! This is my second visit to Elusive and I brought newcomers this time! My four closest girl friends and I had SUCH a fun experience with the Potions themed room. Our Game Master Scott was top notch, and adapted the clues and his commentary to our sense of humor really well. We laughed like crazy! My wife decided she wanted to try something different with the kids for fun being it's been way to cold to go outside and play. She surprised us all with a fun trip to the Wisconsin Dells to the famous "Elusive Escape Rooms" right in the middle of town. My wife called and spoke to a very nice gentleman named Bill to inquire about all the details we needed to know prior. As a family we had never experienced an escape room before. This is were the real fun began. We had to reserve a time slot... We picked a themed mission from several different choices this company offers. We picked one that was to our experience level and theme we thought the kids would love. We paid over the phone and away we went. We showed up right on time and was giving a brief description of what to expect from Bill (the owner) when we entered the room excited and nervous. I spoke with Bill for a few moments and he was very nice, informative, and great with the kids. He explained that he is a local area farmer and his family created this business to help keep his struggling farm afloat during these unique years! I thought to myself what a hard working family and much deserving of our business. So I hope this review I post brings you in more business in the future. Anyways we were told that we had 1 hour to complete our mission. Our goal was to conjour up a potion spell to awaken our Professor in the Enchanted Potion Room. In we went and the fun began..... We had no clue what to do when we first entered but slowly started to figure things out. One clue leads to another kind of a thing. If you are stuck or get into any trouble you can ask for help at any given time. You area watched and listened to the entire time for your help and safety. There is a TV monitor that gives you clues only if you ask for them. You only get so many though and then you are on your own. We choose to let our 7 year old do most of the thinking and the work to figure things out. There was some tough clues, puzzles to be mastered, riddles to be solved, secret code combinations to solve, keys to be found and so much more. We (the adults) needed some help along the way, but as a family of 4 we had an absolute blast trying our best to solve everything. We were able to make it out of the room with a whopping 37 seconds to spare. How about that for a families 1st time. VICTORY! We all agreed that we would come back to this location and try another challenge. The prices we felt we really fair, the rooms were set up super cool, it was very clean inside and most of all the people who were working the business were very friendly and helpful. Customer service experience was 5 star alone. Looking for something new and different to try with your family in the Dells. This place can accomadate just that! Depending on your experience level and size of group there is a perfect challenging activity awaiting for any age group to do together. Especially perfect for the colder months when you can't be outdoors. Perfect team building exercise for companies and their employees. Good Luck you will need it! read more

We pulled into this place and there was a little trail of oil that followed our car into its parking space. ?! We walk in to take shelter and the gentleman at the front desk immediately asks if he can do anything to help. He walks outside to help- no questions asked. Weird start to a story right? Just want to emphasize the great lengths the staff here went to in order to ensure we had a great time with no worries. We left our keys with him while we did the room and by the time we got out, everything was lined up to be resolved. Yes, I'm serious. The owner even drove to Walmart to get more oil. Meanwhile, in the room, we had such an awesome time. I can't comment much because I don't want to give anything away- but it proved to be a great time. WE GOT OUT! With only 47 seconds left!!! 5 stars and then 5 more for the hospitality of the owner and staff. read more

We chose to come here for an escape room toward the end of the night on the last night of our stay in the Dells. It was our first escape room experience so we weren't sure what to expect. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by very friendly staff. They answered all of our questions and gave us an excellent idea of what to expect from an escape room without giving anything away. They had a variety of escape room themes to choose from as well as a variety of difficulty levels. Once we picked our room, we were paired with a guide who did an excellent job preparing us for our escape room and was there to support us if we got stuck along the way. The room itself was kept in excellent condition and very well done. We had so much fun working our way through the puzzles in the room and we felt like it was a great value for the price. When we come back to the Dells, we will definitely be coming back here. read more

Derek was our game master. He was a lot of fun! We did the butcher and he made it seem like you were actually captured and the butcher was getting close to coming back. I've done about 6 escape rooms in the past year or two and this was by far my favorite escape room.- I'd love to explain why but it's hard without giving away spoilers. This was our first time trying this...Clint was super in coaching us through the process. We didn't know to make a reservation - highly recommend making reservations! Since we didn't have a reservation they had space for our family in the Spy Room. It was challenging but we did pretty well! We had so much fun...our 8 year old granddaughter can't wait to go back. This is an activity that is enjoyable for all ages (5 and up). Everyone at Elusive Escape rooms was very helpful. They even have lockers for storing your personal items while you are "escaping" You can't see the Elusive Escape Room from the street...its along the side of a strip mall. Lackluster experience. Standoffish staff, cheap and poorly constructed rooms. Tried the Potion Room which was poorly lit with basic Masterlocks and combination locks. Minimal tech, tons of red herrings to waste your time with, and mediocre engagement by the game master who was slow to respond and provided poor clues. Love. Love. Love it! I've wanted to do an escape room for several years, so when I saw reviews for this one while on vacay I decided to take my kids (8 and 6), mom, sister, and niece (12). We did the "Potions" room which is perfect for Harry Potter fans. We ALMOST finished, but still had a blast. The kids didn't stop talking about it, so we went back 2 days later to do "The Great Outdoors" room which was also super fun. This was my first experience with an escape room. Our guide Alex was great--he seemed to really enjoy his job and was helpful throughout the session. We would definitely go back to try another room. What a fun adventure with great, attentive staff. The room we attended, Crazy Cat Lady, was adventurous and challenging but definitely doable. Our game master, Nick, was encouraging and thorough in his explanation of the game and details of it. The great thing about this escape room is that you don't have to join in with random groups of people. If you want to choose a smaller room with just your group, that's an option. I've got nothing but high praise for Aaron and the crew at Elusive Escape Rooms in Wisconsin Dells. We were originally going to try the escape room at our resort since it was on property, but after reading the reviews on yelp as well as finding a groupon, we decided on Elusive Escape Rooms instead. I called about a week ahead to book our room for 6-Agent 33. We went in early October which is off-season so if you are going in the Summer you might want to call sooner. Aaron couldn't have been nicer on the phone. I was a bit concerned since 4 of our party were first timers and the room is a 9/10 difficulty, but he encouraged me to book the Agent 33 room since 2 of us are seasoned escape room players. We arrived about 10 minutes early, signed our releases, and were immediately briefed and then taken into our room. We were given 60 minutes to escape, and sadly we did not make it out in time, even with hints. It was a tough room, and it was nice of the game master to explain to us what we missed. With 10 more minutes I think we could have made it. We had so much fun that we came back the next day, this time only 3 of us, and we decided to try out one of their newest rooms-"Crazy Cat Lady". This one was a bit easier and we made it out with 15 or so minutes to spare. I'm not going to say much more about it as to not spoil the fun for others, but both of the rooms were exquisitely themed. While Agent 33 was more challenging and more of what I've come to expect from an escape room theme, I think the "Crazy Cat Lady" was much more fun since it was different. It had me giggling quite a few times, since I'm sure we all know someone who is a cat lady. The puzzles in that room were also different and innovative as opposed to what I've seen before and I really enjoyed them all. The staff was also ridiculously friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them before and after the games. We typically only go up to the Dells once a year and I can't wait to see what they've got in store for us next time! read more

I really wanted to try an escape room with a big group of friends. My intuition was to search for the best possible combination of price, quality, distance, and service. I narrowed down my search to four escape rooms. (1) KL Escapes was too far from Dells, (2) Escape in Time couldn't accommodate a party of 13-14 and was expensive, and (3) the Escape Chambers was $25 per person after 8 people. All of these locations had groupon deals but Elusive had the best groupon deal and could accommodate a party of 14 in the Double Agent 33 room. (KL Escapes had a similar deal but they were too 1.5 hours away from Dells) Elusive is located directly across Noah's Ark. It's hard to see from the main street but you have to turn in to a plaza next to Pizza Pub. Once we got in, we were greeted by three workers at the desk and Aaron (owner). They all had great customer service. We were scheduled for 7:30 but we came in at 7:33. We signed the waiver forms right away and after five minutes of talking to Aaron and mingling among friends, we got started. There was a brief story that was told to us about the room and what our mission was and we were on our way to the Double Agent Room. Then, we were shown another video with rules, safety, what not to touch etc. We were given 60 minutes with 5 clues. We barely made it out of the room (less than a minute left) and when we got out, all the workers behind the desk were cheering with us which I loved. They really made it a fun atmosphere for us. Afterwards they took a picture of us with all of our phones and had funny signs we could hold. Speaking of the room itself, I thought it was very challenging and well designed and ALL of us had to contribute otherwise it's not possible to get out. We were able to solve it, but going through the facebook page, a lot of people failed the mission. I loved my experience and I'm kinda bummed it was their only big room. I hope the rooms they are working on for the future can accommodate big parties because I'd love to return. I would most def return if I had a group of 8 or less to try one of their other rooms. My advise to you is to reserve your spots in advance especially on weekends. Use the restroom beforehand because you will be in there for 60 minutes. Don't be late like us. And don't speak of the room immediately outside the building because it can spoil it for others. While leaving we were told by our daughter in law who waited in the lobby during our hour game. How the employees were bashing my family and saying how disgusting we were. With two days of being in the dells me and my girlfriend did 5 rooms yes 5 rooms 2 rooms back to back one day and 3 rooms back to back the second. The first day are game master was Morgan she was awesome the way she introduced the rooms to the way she would help. The best rooms are definitely the butcher and Olympus although Olympus is very hard still one of the best. The potion room and crazy cat lady are high up on my list too. My least favorite room we did was the agent 33 just wasn't my style of room let's just say its hard and has confusing puzzles for a person who doesn't do escape rooms much. But I can't stress enough how much Morgan changed the experience and made the games so much better. This is a dells must if your looking for something to do. read more
