It is also nearby to the local high school, so there's plenty of space for pregame activities and summer fun in the sun. What really sets this park apart is the amount of shade received by the old growth trees. You can enjoy a summertime lunch in the shade without having to worry about the heat. It also has a close proximity to several other parks, making it a great waypoint for your bicycle or running trips, and also as a quick shortcut from the high school to the main neighborhoods. Stop on by and play around-this is a great local park. I especially love the historic nature and history of this park; this was the location of one of the first farms (or one of the oldest farms) that still relatable to Rockville today. You can read all about the Dawson family and their farm at some of the historic Education signs you'll find detailing the history around the park. So if you've got some time to kill and just want to relax, or if you want to learn a little bit about the history of the Rockville area, come on over to Dawson Farm Park and you'll get plenty of both.

Located in the Fallsgrove area, the community center is both convenient to my office and a very affordable gym option. The facilities (all brand new) include a big basketball court, a ping-pong room, a fitness room with weight and cardio machines, a playground outside for the kiddies, a community garden that's starting to grow, and a few rooms for classes/events. And, the building was built with many sustainable features (i.e. geothermal heating, locally sourced materials, efficient water faucets) I've been a fitness member for a while which means I can access the fitness room whenever the center is open. On top of that I take a weekly kickboxing class that is a lot of fun (but also kicks my butt.) I really like that I can take as many or as few classes as I want and just pay for what I actually use through the Parks & Rec department. At typical membership gyms, you pay an inflated fee to pay for all these classes you don't even go to and all the personal trainers to annoy you to take a training session and all the sales people to haggle with you over an extra $5 off the 'joining fee'. Here you can pay a flat rate and get access for a month, 3 months, 6 months, or a year. And there is a discount if you're a resident of Rockville. The community center also has community events like basketball tournaments, festivals for kids, teen movie nights, and other family oriented things that are a nice addition to the area. I haven't tried these out as I don't play basketball, am not a kid nor am I a teen but they look like fun family functions. Overall I highly recommend TFCC and am very satisfied, especially since I don't have to commit to a membership gym!

It was pretty quiet (just nannies and a few kids) until the private schools let out and kids in Gucci shoes followed by moms in neon colored Chanel boots showed up and it became quite crowded. We left not too long after this because a few of these unruly children who were not being watched by their moms repeatedly tried to bully my 2 year old out of the sand area. Before these children arrived, we had a great time with the various slides and toys left behind in the sand. There's lots of open space, tennis courts, and a separate section for older kids. Parking is on the street and highly coveted. I noticed many cars circling on our way out. It looks like there's a splash pad here as well. I might take my son back here but would definitely choose to come earlier than later.

Here's my honest review after returning home to California. We traveled back to the DMV to…read morecelebrate my daughter's birthday with our friends and family. We originally booked for 25 kids but ended up reducing it to 20. Unfortunately, the party room felt very small for a space advertised to accommodate 25 children and up to 40 adults. It was hot and stuffy, and the two fans provided really didn't make much of a difference. There also wasn't enough seating for the adults, which was especially disappointing and honestly embarrassing when we had older family members attending who needed somewhere to sit. Upon arrival, my dad, who was bringing in our decorations, was stopped and wasn't allowed inside just to drop off an item that was too heavy for my mom and me to carry. We completely understand having rules in place, but I do feel there could have been some flexibility for the birthday family. Even allowing him five minutes to help us get the heavier decorations into the room and then completing whatever paperwork was needed afterward would have made a huge difference. I do want to give a special thank you to Forest and another staff member who noticed that I was getting frustrated and stepped in to help. Forest, in particular, was amazing and actually helped us decorate and get everything together. If you're planning a party here, I would definitely recommend asking for her! The younger kids had an absolute blast, and the older kids made the best of the situation, even though the main ball pit for their age group was closed. Unfortunately, we were not notified ahead of time that it would be unavailable, so that was pretty disappointing, especially considering we were planning the party around the activities available. The bubble party was actually one of my daughter's favorite parts! However, it was frustrating to see children wearing yellow wristbands, while our party had pink wristbands, joining our bubble party. The dance floor was already pretty small for our group, so having additional children come in made it even more crowded. I feel like it should be the responsibility of the party hosts/attendants to monitor the wristbands and make sure each party's designated activities remain private. That's part of what we're paying for. There was also a woman I wasn't familiar with who seemed to come out of nowhere and repeatedly addressed some of our older children/spectators. She was wearing an orange shirt with a gray sweater. Her approach came across as very loud and rude, and I was confused about why she was involved with our party when we already had Forest assisting us. I believe the staff noticed that I was uncomfortable with the situation because shortly afterward, she was at the front desk. Overall, there were definitely some cons, but there were also plenty of pros. The kids had fun, and there were staff members who genuinely went above and beyond to help us. I would still recommend this place to others, but there are several things I believe need to be addressed before we would consider paying to host another party here. With better temperature control, more seating, clearer communication about closed attractions, and stronger enforcement of private party areas, I think the experience could be significantly better.
