The walking trails are well maintained and both bikers and walkers are friendly! This is an amazing park. With indoor tennis, indoor pool as well as outdoor tennis, and outdoor pool. A water recreation area. Soccer fields and baseball/softball diamonds as well as a huge picnic area. This part has something from everyone! It is also nearby to the local high school, so there's plenty of space for pregame activities. What really sets this park apart is the amount of shade received by the old growth trees. You can enjoy a summertime lunch in the shade without having to worry about the heat. It also has a close proximity to several other parks, making it a great waypoint for your bicycle or running trips, and also as a quick shortcut from the high school to the main neighborhoods. Stop on by and play around-this is a great local park.

There are a bunch of playground sets (although they're the lame plastic kind, not the old school burn-your-hands-and-bum-in-the-summer-heat metal kind), two tennis courts that are in pretty great shape, a basketball court and a big field for sports, walking the dog, whatever. The grass in some parts is a little dilapidated, but it's probably for the same reason the Mall has dying grass; little kids running around on it all day will cause a lot of wear and tear. There's also a parking lot which is convenient, but it gets packed during "peak hours" (around noon and when schools get out it seems). No sketchy characters to be found at any hour!

It was pretty quiet (just nannies and a few kids) until the private schools let out and kids in Gucci shoes followed by moms in neon colored Chanel boots showed up and it became quite crowded. We left not too long after this because a few of these unruly children who were not being watched by their moms repeatedly tried to bully my 2 year old out of the sand area. Before these children arrived, we had a great time with the various slides and toys left behind in the sand. There's lots of open space, tennis courts, and a separate section for older kids. Parking is on the street and highly coveted. I noticed many cars circling on our way out. It looks like there's a splash pad here as well. I might take my son back here but would definitely choose to come earlier than later.

The renovated park still has ponds, playgrounds, a basketball court. a walking "loop", and some relaxation areas. The play area is divided into a 2-5 year old area and a 5-12 year old area. There is a loop around the pond for walking; jogging; and little ones bike riding. It's a lovely addition to the Kemp Mill neighborhood, but please, if you use the park, also use the trash cans. Really, we have a lovely park and people still throw their stuff on the ground?!
