I had my initial appointment for a head spa treatment and consultation. When I arrived, I was informed that the consultation portion would need to be rescheduled because the specialist was sick. While I completely understand that illness happens, I believe I should have been notified before arriving for my appointment. Rather than complain, I simply rescheduled the consultation. I went through with my appointment, the session itself was okay, I have curly hair, and after the session, my hair was left extremely tangled. Additionally, my hair was not put into a bun or braid as described in the service. Given the premium price of these services, I expected to leave feeling at least somewhat comfortable and presentable afterward. I was not. 10 minutes before my rescheduled consultation I received a call to reschedule again. While I understand that unexpected situations arise, canceling only ten minutes beforehand is not professional. I was driving in from SA which is not close and this was the second cancellation. I was very frustrated. The receptionist stated someone would follow up with me by the end of the day which was Monday or the following morning, but no one did. I eventually had to call back myself on Friday. At that time, I was told that the co-owner would contact me. Laura Kirby then emailed me on Sunday asking for a convenient time to speak, which I provided. However, I never received a call, and if one was made, no voicemail was left. I was really excited for my appointment but this situation has made me feel overlooked and unimportant as a customer. I chose this business because of its specialized services in hair loss, but the repeated cancellations, lack of communication, and failure to follow through have left me feeling that my time and concerns were not valued. read more

First, the folks at Elysian Head Spa are so kind! Really lovely and welcoming environment. I got the 45-minute "Alchemist" focused on the scalp. It was super cool to see the before and after with their hi-def camera. The treatment really cleaned my scalp, which felt great! I was unfortunately a little disappointed by the back/bottom of my scalp at the end of the treatment -- my hair was greasy and oily in that area even when it dried (which doesn't happen when I shampoo/condition/properly rinse my own hair). I think that area just wasn't properly rinsed, since the hair on the top of my scalp was clean and soft when dried. I bought a few products from the Oway line they carry (shampoo, conditioner, and "dry drops"). However, they also suggested the density/fortifying spray, and I was told "if you use this product, your hair will grow," which felt a little misleading -- hair growth is complicated, so it felt like a big claim. Overall, it was a nice experience, but a little expensive for what it was. Highly recommend if you want to treat yourself! read more

Rachel was wonderful! The entire experience from the entry way/ welcome space to the individual treatment rooms to the skills of the practitioner were incredible. I loved the weighted blanket time during my treatment. It allowed me to melt into the chair and forget about all my troubles. Also, I appreciated the before and after close up's of my scalp as well as the personalized product recommendations to use at home. I've only had one other head spa experience before and this Elysian experience felt different. Marina talked me through their process, took before and after pictures, and it felt like she took her time to really provide a nourishing experience. The other head spa I went to felt like there was a checklist for the technician to get through whereas it felt like Marina was intentional, meticulous, and giving my scalp time and care. I appreciate her offering a heads up how a particular treatment mask might feel so that I knew it was supposed to be tingly. It felt like Marina really cared about the process and experience. I have visited Elysian Head Spa twice, and I'll definitely be returning! My first visit was for the Bespoke scalp treatment. If you're unsure which choice is right for you, then the expert staff will let you know. At the beginning of your appointment, the treatment specialist (mine was Marina) uses a camera to take a close-up photo of your scalp to see exactly what will work best for your individual needs. Then you settle in under a blanket and an eye mask and wait for the experience to start. (I would recommend the weighted blanket - Elysian offers blanket choices!) The treatment itself was exactly what you want - relaxing, soothing, indulgent, and luxurious! The products have an aromatic, botanical smell, and they feel incredible as your treatment specialist massages them on your scalp. Seriously, you'll love the cooling, tingling feeling. And the hot-water waterfall over your head at the conclusion of the treatment was glorious. Once the treatment has finished, you'll get another scalp photo taken, and you actually can see how much cleaner, smoother, and more polished everything looks! You also get the additional treat of hot tea and a chocolate during the post-treatment consultation. My second visit to Elysian was for the Folix laser treatment. The laser helps with hair thinning and hair loss. (As I've gotten older, I noticed some thinning at my temples.) This treatment also starts with a consultation (mine was with Katie) and a good look at your scalp. Once your goals are established, the laser treatment begins. I was afraid it would be uncomfortable, but it was virtually pain free - and super quick and easy. I haven't noticed any changes yet, but Katie recommended four treatments for maximum results. I've already booked my next Folix session. And, of course, this visit concludes hot tea and chocolate. Elysian Head Spa should be on your list of must-do self care if you're in Austin! If you're in town for a vacation, then definitely treat yourself. If you're lucky enough to live here, then you'll want to become a regular. read more
