I had a wonderful experience just now with the entire crew. I called and asked for wait times, they told me 15-20mins. There was plenty of parking right out front. The front desk person had me fill out one double-sided form for personal details and medical history. I was sitting under the TV which was stating a movie which was distracting me from form filling so I asked if they could mute it for me and they did. I put my preferred name on the form and said "please call me Ocean". They took my copay, and by the time that was done a nurse called for Ocean and took me back and got my vitals. Dr Cunningham saw me and quickly identified the right treatment for me and sent it to the pharmacy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either emergency physicians medical center location, I've had great experiences at both of them. They're friendly, considerate, professional and I was seen in a very reasonable amount of time. read more

I have had several instances when I went to Emergency Physicians' Medical Center on Tower Road in Gainesville, FL. All have been excellent. Last night was just the latest, because my "loving" dog bit me on the lip as I was trying to take a something he should not have had away from him. No fault to the dog, I should have known he wouldn't be happy about it. Nevertheless, I went to Emergency Physicians Medical Center on Tower Road in Gainesville, where the staff treated me like I was the only person in the center needing treatment. I was charged a reasonable rate for the treatment, no matter what the procedures were going to be. I met Dr. Dan Dixon, who was the attending physician. He assessed the situation, and determined that I would need stitches to close the wound and have it heal properly. He and the staff worked with me for the best course of treatment, including the stitches, an antibiotic injection, and a subsequent office follow up visit for stitch removal. While this was a pretty mundane injury, I was still impressed with the attention and professionalism I received by Dr. Dixon and the staff. Keep up the good work. I will always recommend Emergency Physicians Medical Center for any immediate need injury. read more

These people are all idiots. The receptionist was not friendly AT ALL and cared more about making jokes and cussing with her coworker in the back then helping the customer. Highly unprofessional and not a good look from the start. The doctor is a complete moron, so I would highly recommend going literally anywhere else. A school nurse would be more helpful than anyone here. He didn't know the difference between a canker sore and cold sore, and told me they were "basically the same thing". No, one is viral and the other is not. Are you slow? They are not patient driven or educated at all, and are clearly only concerned with making money, not treating their patients. They had no concern with what I was saying and just wanted to rush me out, but they were just fine taking my payment. Did a rapid strep test which came back negative, and told me I have to pay to come back again in 5 days if I want them to run the culture test. What time of BS is that, I have never heard something so goofy. Every urgent care I have ever been to runs both THE SAME DAY. Boyfriend had a similar experience when getting served something he was highly allergic to and had a rash and throat swell. After explaining it 3 times, the doctor asked him "do what are you here for" and he lost it. If you are looking to waste your money and time, this is the place! read more

Dr. Draper is an excellent physician. She is experienced and compassionate. I highly recommend this center. Even if you have to wait, the quality of care is excellent. Other office on 39th is closed today (Sunday). Nothing on the message. Came to this office after being on hold for 15 minutes to find out how long the wait is. Finally gave up and came over. 15 minute drive, now 1 hour from home. The wait is an hour, so they said. Probably equates to 2 hours by the time I get out. Certainly can't leave my truck running for my dog in the parking lot for two hours. A little communication goes a long way. read more

My husband and I went to get his FAA exam. His appointment was scheduled two weeks ago and was for 11am. We arrived at 10:40, and went to sign in. The lady who works the front desk was extremely rude and not professional in the slightest. The first thing she said to us was that we would be waiting a few hours. My husband stated he had an appointment and she shrugged her shoulders at him and said the waiting room was full and we had to wait. We filled out our paperwork and paid for the exam. We waited until 11:40. During the hour we sat in the waiting room we witnessed her speaking the same way to other patients. She did not use eye contact, and she kept telling everyone 'it will be a couple hours' and shaking her head/shrugging her shoulders. She told another patient that if she didn't have the time to wait to make another appointment. Ultimately, we would've stayed and had the exam done if she had not had such a disgusting attitude. When I confronted her and asked to speak to management she again shrugged her shoulders and told me there was nobody in the building that I could speak with. This facility is extremely unprofessional and the people are very unpleasant. We will never return and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Dr. Janes is AMAZING! Highly recommend going here if you need a doctor! I suspected DVT in my arm, and he talked with me, inspected my arm, and personally did the ultrasound to check it right away. No waiting. No hassle. No having to drive somewhere to have the ultrasound done. He found a DVT, unfortunately, and got the prescription called in right away and let me know what to do until I go to my doctor for a follow-up when I get home. (We had evacuated to Gainesville because of a hurricane) The receptionist was sweet, the nurse Casey was kind and knowledgeable, and the doctor professional and great at his job. What more could you want? I'll tell you, a beautiful, great-smelling (no yucky antiseptic smell) office. And my room was equipped with a soft bed for me to lay down and wait on and a comfy couch for my family to be with me. Two words - go here! read more

I am not kidding when I say that you are better off going with webMD. I had a UTI and I went in telling them that I likely had a UTI. I got prescribed Amox-Clav. Why did I take it? I just trusted the doctor. When you check the pharmacist recommendations, it says that Amoxicillins have been deemed as less effective for UTI's. I took it (unknowingly of course) and I got a horrible case of EXPLOSIVE diarrhea, FEVER, and body aches. Little did I know I got a horrible case of C. Difficile :) I love when antibiotics destroy your gut! So I went back to this clinic and had Dr. Dickenson. The "enson" in his name should just be taken out, because when you look up the word "pompous" a picture of this man will definitely pop up. He belittled my symptoms and led me to believe that I didn't have C. Diff. He said my chances were less than 10%. He prescribed flagyl and ordered a stool sample. One week later, DING DING DING. Thank God I have a nurse auntie who KNEW I had this. She told me to tell him that I had C. Diff, otherwise he wouldn't even have suspected it. The pharmacist recommended vancomycin instead of the metronidazole he prescribed, but again, he refused. He said and I quote: "This is my practice and I do what I want. Don't like it? Too bad." Well, the pharmacist didn't even know what to say to me. I called telehealth and thank God that the doctor had common sense and changed my prescription. I'm happily on my vancomycin trying to recuperate from what they did to my body. The nurses, receptionist, and EMTs are very nice, but the doctors are the epitome of obsolete, outdated, and USELESS. Too bad zero is not an option. One of our family member went there two weeks ago and got a Covid19 positive test. They said sorry and sent her home as most Doctors do now. The follow up appointment was set and all our household waited for the next appointment to include a test to find out if we could start going back to work. We have tested 3 times during this past 10 days all Negative. Still not allowed to go back to work until she tests negative. The brilliant medical office told her that she needs another appointment for later to do the covid test. So explain it how is it even safe to have a possible Covid19 patient driving to your facility twice instead of once? And keeping the entire family locked for an extra unnecessary day? This gives credence to believes that our medical industry is a shame. read more

Who gets sick on Christmas Eve? I wasn't sick enough to be admitted so I was kind of stuck in between wanting to see a doctor and not wanting to get admitted to an ER. Then my wife found this place online that's literally 5 minutes from my home. And it's open on Christmas Eve! I walked in and I was already starting to feel better. No reservations were necessary and they were pretty quick in processing my papers. They took me to a nice room with a couch, a TV screen, and a comfortable bed for me to rest in. The doctor came in and I thought I was seeing Mr. Rogers in the flesh. Dr. Don Janes was awesome. He listened well, understood exactly what I needed, and gave me something that effectively eased my pain. I was out of there in two hours but most of my time I spent napping. Most people who go to the ER actually don't need to be admitted and get released after being treated. Some people shy away from urgent care centers because their services are limited, but EPMC offers a wide range of services including IV fluids, X-rays, ultrasounds, etc. Definitely my go-to emergency care spot in Gainesville. read more

When it comes to the facility, sure they have a nice facility that's a lot more comfortable than your ordinary doctor's office, but in my opinion, the performance of the nurses and doctors is much more important. That is why I cannot give this place a good review. First off, the nurse insulted me by automatically categorizing me as a hypochondriac due to my description of a past reaction to a medication. I hate doctor's offices that do this; I know they do; I shadowed several family doctors back when I was interested in attending medical school. This patient labeling happens a lot more than you might realize. He argued with me regarding my basal body temperature: mine runs low which is fairly common, so according to my temp at the office, I had fever, which I knew because I felt like I had fever, but he argued it was just normal. This likely affected my diagnosis of 'likely a virus' despite symptoms I will not describe here in case the reader is eating. My blood pressure was never measured either. I thought that was quite unusual. When the doctor actually came into the room, she made several mistakes. Complaining of sinus pain and postnasal drip apparently no longer requires any real examination. She looked in my ears, so I guess that makes that ok? But then she said that Allegra D doesn't have a generic form, so I guess I was hallucinating when I took the generic Allegra D about a year ago. Also, recent scientific literature indicated it is not safe to give Z packs to patients with a certain underlying medical condition. Well I have that condition and she prescribed a z pack even though I made the staff aware of this. This tells me the doctor is not keeping up with latest news in the field. Of course when I sit in on talks at the university for which docs get continuing education credit, I see the docs walk in at the end of the talk, sign the paper for attendance, and leave without hearing anything. I guess a nonchalant attitude towards continuing education is becoming common practice. I just hope and pray I don't have to go back to this place: I worry about the possibility of malpractice; but I will likely have to go back because it is the only walk in clinic or urgent care covered by my really expensive insurance. read more

My son came into the office and was overcharged to be seen. I spoke to Savannah who admitted to the error who gave me the email to Angie Wilkins. The response I received from Angie is unacceptable. My son was charged $394 to be seen for Pharyngitis. There is no way you can tell me that this is anywhere near the reasonable or customary amount that has been negotiated with United Healthcare. I know because I called United Healthcare. I called today to speak to Angie Wilkins and was told she does not have a phone and email is the only means of communication. Something is not above board with the facility and I plan to pass all of this information on. What legitimate company does not have a billing department that you can talk to on the phone. Taking advantage of the students at UF and the residents of Gainesville is unacceptable. I would recommend that anyone reading this find another facility in Gainesville to see. read more

I have been to Emergency Physicians on Tower Rd. several times. Dr. Janes is a wonderful caring doctor. Dr. Yucht is an outstanding administrator with superior credentials. This place is what has been missing in health care for a long time. I was treated for pneumonia twice at their facility. Did my breathing treatments in a private rm with a sofa and TV. The wait time is minimal. The staff is friendly and encouraging. When I need their care I walk in and wait my turn. Best place EVER. read more

I am so sad Dr. Janes left this practice. It's amazing how quickly it has gone downhill. I brought my niece there recently and not only did it take a really long time, but the doctor forgot to prescribe two of the scripts discussed and that she needed. My niece, who was really sick, is the one who caught it and had to go back inside to ask for them. Then, I sent my husband there yesterday, and four hours later with multiple phone calls back and forth between us and me and the front desk to get them the information they said we had to get them before he could be seen (mind you we have GREAT insurance and have been there for emergencies on multiple occasions), the doctor, the same one who saw my niece, told him to go to the ER without treating him. He had whiplash from a car accident the day before where he was hit from behind - not an ER visit! Besides, aren't they former ER doctors?! So very disappointed and will not recommend ANYONE go there, and I have probably recommended more than 50 people in the past few years. read more

Although I use UF Internal Medicine as my primary medical treatment, the staff and doctors at EPMC have been a huge help to me and my family over the years. They actually found and caught a major PE in my mother that saved her life several years ago! The doctors are great, especially my personal favorite, Dr. Janes and Dr. Yucht. Even if you're not feeling good about how your appointment (or walk in) went- they'll make sure to see you again ASAP to get to the bottom of the issue. You just need to communicate with the staff and remember they are an emergency medical care center not a primary care institution, so for a place that only takes walk ins and cannot control the number of patients seen at a time- the do a great job managing patient care and comfort. They're facilities do have great equipment for many emergencies but if you're in need of a trauma one center- go to the closest hospital ER. For issues that arise that are emergencies but not life-threatening and can't be seen by your primary physician immediately... come here! They'll make you feel better! read more

They stated I had a pre-existing condition at the age of 24 (straining your back lifting is not a pre-existing condition) and my insurance refused to pay for services rendered. I had to go to Emergency Physicians Medical Center (NW location) because my regular physician was out of the office for a week. I suffer from a rare and very painful condition. I do not expect all doctors to be knowledgeable about it, so I brought my medical records from Shands with me to the clinic. My records also include the medication I usually take to treat my symptoms. My hope was that this clinic would provide me with the medication I needed. The doctor was a smaller man with dark brown hair. I wish I remembered his name. After I showed him my symptoms, shared my medical records with him, and explained my diagnosis, he disappeared from the room for 15 minutes. I can only assume that he was Googling my condition, because when he returned he had a lot to say about it. I don't know what website he read, but everything he said--with a ridiculous amount of confidence--was false. For example, my condition is triggered by heat, and he recommended heat. He was incredibly condescending, speaking to me as though I knew nothing about the medical condition I have been dealing with for a year and a half, for which I have traveled to other states to see specialists. He suggested I take steroids, which he should know I can't tolerate due to another pre-existing condition. His arrogance and lack of expertise were appalling. He also refused to prescribe the medication that has been documented to help me, a particular pain medication. I needed only enough to carry me through to see someone at my regular doctor's office--a few days. He said that the state of Florida is cracking down on doctors who prescribe narcotic pain medication and that he would need a "good reason." If a syndrome that you can see and diagnose with the naked eye, which is known to be excruciating, and which has been diagnosed at Shands hospital and NYU's hospital does not warrant pain medication I don't know what does. He insisted that I "try" a non-narcotic pain medication I have already tried several times. I understand that there are lots of people out there scamming clinics to get opiate pain pills, but a doctor should be able to use discretion responsibly and relieve legitimate pain. I left the clinic in tears of pain and frustration. My husband went back in to speak to the receptionist, who had told him on the phone prior to the visit that they could prescribe me the pain medication I needed. He politely complained to her about the inconsistency between what she had said and the treatment I had received and she snapped at him. The best and brightest doctors do not work at walk-in clinics. Nobody goes to medical school hoping to work at one of these places. I didn't expect someone to cure my condition; I just needed a simple prescription. Instead, I was talked down to, given false information about my illness, and denied any real help. It was demoralizing. I recommend that if you have a medical problem you go to any lengths to see a real doctor and if it's a true emergency go to an ER. Unfortunately, it's worth the wait to see someone competent. read more

TL;DR Fantastic doctor, efficient staff, comfortable and clean facility, long wait time. This is a great alternative to the ER if you have an urgent issue, and a good option if you don't have a primary care physician. The doctor was competent and kind; he asked many questions and did not rush or disregard anything I said. I went here on one occasion for a sore throat, and on another for a severe bladder infection. This is a better option than the ER as you will not have to wait as long, but I will say the wait is generally pretty lengthy. I was taken into a private room almost immediately where there was a TV, magazines, and I was offered water or gatorade. However, once in the room I waited at least half an hour (if not more) on both occasions. I felt that my problems were adequately handled and solved. They also billed both my primary and secondary insurance correctly (Aetna and GEHA), which I have found many urgent care facilities don't. If you don't have good insurance, this is a pricey place to go. Otherwise, they were very good. Overall, the only complaint to be had is the wait time. The doctor, nurses and staff were lovely and the facility is clean and comfortable. read more

Giving them one star is too much. My daughter was seen today. I will never have her go back. The care she received was a joke. These people have no compassion and mocked her through out her appointment. The young lady who took her vital signs was rude. The doctor who saw her had seen her last year for the same thing but apparently did not look in his notes and see he was the one who diagnosed her last year. He couldn't take the time to think out of the box instead of being so prideful. They act like they don't even want to touch you. You have to ask for them to look at you. I am in the medical field and if I ever treated one of my patients like that I wouldn't have a job. If you aren't in it for the patients then find another occupation. Patients come there sick and in need of treatment. Not to be made fun of. I am beyond disappointed in this office and would never recommend it to anyone. read more
