Thank you, Yelp app and fellow Yelpers for directing me to this little tapas restaurant on…read moreEversholt Street. It's a little unassuming family run restaurant but with serious intent from the kitchen. I was offered a table in the main dining room or the garden when I walked in - as we are in the middle of 'Wimbledon week showers', I chose to dine indoors. The menu was written in impressively authentic sounding terms but closer inspection revealed some fusion going on - lemongrass, tumeric and enoki mushrooms being amongst the ingredients on show. I'm up for a bit of fusion as long as it doesn't end in con-fusion! Having confirmed that I was hungry, the helpful waiter suggested getting 3 dishes. I couldn't help myself and went for the fusion sounding dishes. Panceta con cidra was pork belly, rolled and marinated with garlic, black pepper and dill, braised in Asturian cider. I zoom in pork belly whenever I see it and this version has been slowly cooked to melting tenderness with the dill coming through strongly - it didn't need the wedge of lemon which came with it and I enjoyed it as it arrived. Pollo a la plancha del Parador were a pair of chicken thighs marinated in lemon grass, turmeric, garlic & coriander and cooked on the plancha (grill). I prefer dark meat as it remains moist and the oriental kick wasn't too overwhelming. When the waiter said the Higadillos Salteados (chicken livers with Iberico Jamon, enoki mushrooms, shallots, black pepper and butter) would be served pink inside, I smiled - nice to see a restaurant willing to serve food as it should be cooked and not pander to squeamish guests. These were a delight and to get some Iberico ham from acorn-fed pigs was a bonus. This is tapas of the highest order, given a little twist. A little Yelp gem which deserves its high star rating.

El Parador specialises in scallops, Halibut, and crab... although they were many others still left to be tried. The interior Decor, to me seemed rather french with little white table clothes and a smart yet gentle ambience. The wine list was impressive to say the least, with over 30 bottles of wine, in the price range of £13-30, with over 15 available by glass. The lunchtime menu has a special offer of 3 tapas for the price of two.

Couldn't find Davy's but noticed Zone One and went in. It was mid week after work and the first impression was a quiet place, quite nicely furbished and well furnished. There was a standard list of wines, went for a bottle of the simplest sauvignon blanc and wasn't disappointed, also it seemed to me to be very reasonably priced in relation to some of the surrounding pubs and restaurants. Ordered at the bar and the bottle was brought to the table with an ice bucket. I give it 4 rather than 5 because was not there long enough to fully check it out and also, despite asking and being told to sit anywhere, the person who served us did later on come back and apologise that we had managed to select an area that was booked. They helped us move our drinks and nibbles to another set of seats of our choice so all was fine. Found the place to be welcoming with just the right ambiance to sit and have a quiet chat over a few glasses of wine. Would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to relax after a long day but doesn't quite want the hustle and bustle of a pub.

It's a quaint little Italian spot in the heart of London and it's a wonderful place to spend, especially at night. We ordered the Spaghetti alla Carbonara, the Strozzapreti Boscaiola, and a Bellini and Mimosa to go with our dinner. The food took just a little while to get here but I was sure that it was because they were taking their care with every dish the chefs made. I was right. The pasta was fresh, the sauce and the ingredients tasted very simple and hearty. It all tasted like my hypothetical imaginary nonna made it. The drinks were very good too and complimented the food nicely. Our waiter was absolutely the nicest guy ever. He was very attentive and made sure that we were happy with everything. In my head, I was going to tip him well, and then when we got the check, there was no option to tip. God save the UK. America could learn a thing or two about what it means to not make life all about work. That's beside the point. If you're in London, visit Bon Gusto. We got the meatballs arancini balls on pea pesto, papardelle with wild mushrooms, rigatoni with basil pesto burrata and pistachios, and potted tiramisu. The standouts were the aracini, burrata, and tiramisu, but everything was quite good. The arancini were good for what they were but helped a lot by the being paired with pea pesto. I now wish arancini was plated on top of a counter-balancing sauce or food more often. The burrata was just fantastic and combining with pistachios and basil pesto brought the whole dish together in a way that really pushed things beyond the norm. The tiramisu came in a pot with a mint leaf sticking out the top. As with the other standouts, the tiramisu itself was good, but the whole presentation just really nailed things. The mint leaf went beyond decorative to actually boosting the whole dish. They also had a solid wine list and were willing to let us re-cork and take the rest of the bottle back to the hotel.

Made advanced reservations at the Shoreditch location online and were seated immediately. Started off with a couple of their martinis. They were a little on the small side but only cost £8, so can't really complain. The pappardelle with beef ragu (£15) had nice thick, supple noodles, lightly coated in the sauce. The tagliarini with Dorset crab, chili & lemon (£16.50) was similarly restrained, light on the crab, with a lemony undertone. I had seen complaints about serving sizes, but found both to be decently portioned. We finished with their tiramisu (£7), which is heavier on the mascarpone cream, with just a touch of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, making it a very light dish. Unfortunately, we did not make it in time for the £2 Negronis from Mon-Fri 5pm-6:30pm. If you're deciding between going to the original location in Borough Market or Shoreditch, I recommend Shoreditch. You can make advance reservations (as opposed to Borough Market's daily reservations requiring you to either scan their QR code on site or download their app, with reservations opening at 11 am every day). Plus, the Shoreditch restaurant is much larger and the tables aren't crammed together. Will definitely be back on my next trip to London!
