    Salt hake salad
    Hannah M.

Absolutely worth a visit. The lunch menu (3 courses for £22) is a steal for the quality. Wine menu has a lot of bizarrely cheap options for an upscale wine bar. I got a £5 glass of vinho verde and loved it. The set lunch menu changes every day so it's always a little bit of a gamble. I ended up with one that I liked quite a bit. First course was a salt hake salad, which I thought was lovely even though I would say the greens were a bit overdressed. Second course was a hanger steak with beets and horseradish. Absolutely zero complaints on this dish. Steak was cooked to perfection and the horseradish on the side was the perfect complement. Third course was a lemon and almond cake with yoghurt sorbet. Sorbet could have been a bit creamier but the cake was to die for. Portions were perfect. Service was a tad slow. I sat with an empty wine glass for most of my second course. However, service was very nice and pleasant without being pretentious. The vibe on the inside was much more rustic than I was expecting in the most charming way possible. It didn't have the hyper modernism of most NY wine bars. It felt more like a very upscale pub than a cold, sterile wine bar. All in all, added to my very slim "revisit worthy" list.

I made the mistake of having some food in the early evening before meeting a friend here for wine and additional snacking - because I ended up being too full to try as many of the plates as I would've. The wine list was diverse and fun, and for food we got the burrata and pumpkin, and the crispy pigs head gribiche. The latter was juicy and so full of umami and flavor, and it was a great pairing to a couple of the reds I got. I hope to try more items in a future visit.

My husband and i are in London for a few days with our wine-connoisseur friends. We thankfully made reservations a few weeks in advance. Guests at our hotel were jealous because they couldn't get in! We planned on having a few appetizers before dinner, but we filled up on appetizers and decided to share 2 entrees between the 4 of us! Everything was outstanding! We started with 1 order of the bread and butter and ended up ordering a second one. We ordered the Coppa Estiva (finely sliced meat similar to prosciutto, but better!), burrata (amazing cheese) , a cheese plate, and grilled asparagus. We also ordered Roast Cornish Hake with brown shrimp and capers, and Gnocchi with St George's goat cheese. Outstanding service, food, and wines!! We were sorry we didn't have room for dessert!

One of the best restaurants I have been to in London! Food was delicious, the ambient is nice, and staff is very polite, welcoming and accommodative. As a started I had a daily special on the blackboard which was rabbit offal on toasted bread and it was really good. As a main I stuck with rabbit and I had a roast rabbit loin with coco de Paimpol and Fennel. Everything was very good quality, well cooked and a big portion for a fair price. Definitely recommended. I will also check out their other spot in Soho sooner or later.

This place definitely deserves the recognition it has as a Michelin recommended restaurant. Service was great and the food and wine selection is amazing. We ordered the baked cod as our main dish and the fish would melt in your mouth. All the other dishes were fantastic as well. The variety and ever changing menu will welcome you with a pleasant surprise every time.

Excellent wine lovers bar. You can really be a wino here and the waiters are happy to talk wine with you. The guys who opened this place also started a wine magazine which has "disrupted" the industry. We don't really really know wine but enjoyed looking at all the old and expensive bottles they had. There's something for everyone at every price point. Some cheap, some really really not cheap. We ordered the Chateau Pegasus, naoussa : Macedonia Greece 1999. 75ml. And the Pontet canet, "les hauts de pontet", Pauillac: Bordeaux France 1986. 75ml. The chateau Pegasus was SO cool. We're really into crafts beers, especially funky Belgian beers and this wine reminded me of Chimay washed cheese! It had a funky, earthy, mushroom smell with some fruity undertones. Relatively tannic. Very interesting for me. I don't think most people would like it. The pontet canet was very light and easy to drink. We enjoyed it & found it very balanced Dessert wines: Marco de bartoli, marsala superiore oro 'vigna la miccia' ; sicily NV Toro albala, Don PX Reserva especial ; Jerez Spain 1963 Chateau d'yquem 1987 The Chateau D'Yquem was awesome! So much honey and light fruit flavor. I thought of apples, pears, orange blossom honey. The Marco de bartoli was incredibly long lasting and intense. Strongly reminded us of honeyed chestnuts! Thick and heavy and long lasting. The toro albala was very intense too. Very sweet, thick, and long lasting again. It's strong too. It reminded us of banana, coca-cola, molasses, eucalyptus. All interesting drinks in beautiful thin stemmed glassware in a wonderful intimate environment hosted by nice wino waiters.

A must-stop in London for creative, delicious food and an extensive well-curated wine list. Excellent service with educated staff.

Place was packed out on a Thursday night 7:30pm; decided to just have the meal outside at 7C.... hey I didn't have to wait, why not?! ... olives were huge and had a bit of a spicy kick to it... oysters are just oysters... but the grill Santa Lucian Octopus, Chorizo & Aioli @£16 was not cheap, but damn... crispy on the outside and soft and tender inside, made me wonder how they make this!! Absolutely loved it but definitely not cheap given the portion size. The wine ... I asked for something full bodied and was recommended to Mas Gabriel; Languedoc 2010 & Mad Cutlelou,, Languedoc. Both were excellent, definitely will look to buy a few bottles when I get back home Didn't give it a 5star simply coz it wasn't cheap but quality for the food and wine is definitely there.

This is the best wine bar in all of London, hands down. Why do I say that? Aside from the cozy setting -- complete with dim lighting, candles, and a fireplace -- and the very hospitable service, there is "The Board." What is "The Board" you ask? It's their constantly-changing wall menu of aged, high-end wines poured by the glass via a Coravin, a device that allows you to extract wine from a bottle without actually uncorking the bottle. On the evening were there, there was a number of amazing older wines on the board, including wines from Chave, Lynch-Bages, and Raveneau. After being offered a sample of Lynch-Bages Bordeaux from the 1990s, which was really lovely, I ended up choosing a glass of 2010 Raveneau Chablis Butteaux (£36). It was little funky but bright and complex. And to top it off, it was served in a Zalto stem, the best wine glass in the world. If you love fine wine, then this is a must-stop destination.

Noble Rot wine bar and restaurant in Bloomsbury offers a good choice of wines by the glass and staff are happy to help you select something that matches your food. I was very happy with their recommendations. Noble Rot is located in Bloomsbury on a quiet street. The place is a beautiful wine bar and restaurant with a simple, modern look. The walls are dark and prints of covers of the Noble Rot wine magazine add interesting, colourful accents. I also enjoyed the atmospheric lighting, especially in the back where the restaurant is. As you expect at a wine bar opened by the people behind a wine magazine, the staff are knowledgeable and give good wine recommendations. I started my dinner with a bread selection - sourdough, foccacia and sweet soda bread, if I remember correctly. To go with the bread, I ordered some Iberico Bellota - pretty tasty, high-quality ham. The foccacia and sourdough were a perfect match for the ham. When I asked for a white wine to have with this starter, my waiter - or waitress, I was served by various staff throughout the evening - recommended the San Lorenzo, Verdecchio dei Castelli a Jesì Classico "Le Oche" (2013) from the Marche region in Italy. To be honest, the strong flavour of the wine, perhaps a bit rough around the edges, would not have been my favourite choice without the food. But the combination worked very well for me. As main, I ordered a beautifully presented rabbit dish. At first I was a bit irritated and thought I probably forgot to order a side, but actually, there are no sides on the menu, or at least I did not find them. The rabbit was tasty and light with a tangy sauce. However, the puree it came with did not really add too much for me. I thought having no side is probably for the better, as it leaves more room for dessert! Again, the white wine recommendation of a E & E Vocoret Chablis "Le Bas de Chapelot" (2014) from Burgundy, France, was spot on. I greatly savoured the mineral notes and the flavour complemented the rabbit nicely. For dessert, I opted for the warm chocolate mousse, and to make the most of my visit, I had the English sparkling wine Hambledon "Classic Cuvee" (NV) from Hampshire with it. It was surprisingly and pleasantly sparkly, and came in a beautiful glass. The wine had a strong, distinct flavour. Dry, while also being somewhat fruity - an interesting and very delightful sparkling white. The dessert tasted great, but I did not really liked the presentation and also thought it was probably a bit too liquid and not airy enough for a mousse. Noble Rot is a beautiful wine bar and restaurant with a nice selection of food and great wines. Staff are very friendly and guide you through the wine list to help you find a glass or bottle that matches your food perfectly.

You can buy their magazine here too

Attention wine geeks and wine enthusiasts: stop right there. Look no further. I have found your place. Oh, and foodies they have you covered too. Creators of the very excellent wine magazine read, "Noble Rot', have pooled their extensive knowledge of booze together with ex-chefs from the Sportsman and St Johns to open this wine bar/restaurant. Add many familiar floor staff faces it's kind of a hospitality dream team. Speaking of dreams, this wine list here is exactly that. Dreamy. Old classics, new up and comers, deliberately oxidised well made whites, boundary pushing reds etc etc. All of this and more. They are all here. So many wine bars that have been popping up lately have a fairly 'natural' focus, but these guys have a broader outlook on their wine list and quite frankly it's a line up of well made, great wines. If you are on a budget you will be able to find something that won't hurt the wallet and their mark ups are pretty fair. The 'by the glass' wines will be constantly changing and I think the main wine list will be too. So no chance to get bored... The front part of the bar is a perfectly lit, cosy space with lots of seats. The walls are covered with excellent art from their magazine covers and other art pieces from the artist that assumably helps them with their mag. Charcuterie, cheese, big green sicilian olives etc on offer here to accompany the delicious wines. Out the back, they have their restaurant which serves small plates and a couple of bigger dishes. More excellent lighting and art. Don't skip the Slipsole. Don't skip the terrine. Definitely try anything that is roasted. Just try and eat everything. Best done with open minded food sharers but still a good place to go hans (solo) if you can't convince your mate to try all of the things. Also, the bread basket includes two pieces of the best focaccia you will ever try. Ever. They are planning a couple of decor up grades in the new year but I kind of love it now... See you at the bar!
