Emily's provided the desserts at our daughter's wedding. They were nothing short of amazing. We ordered an 8" wedding cake and 450 mini desserts. They recommend 3 - 5 per guest. We purchased around 4 and watched nervously as they flew off our dessert table. We had just a few left over. Each individual dessert was delicious and carefully decorated. Emily's Catering was key to the success of my husband's Celebration of Life at the Miners Foundry. A couple of months before the event she met me at the Foundry and listened thoughtfully as I described my vision for the celebration, then offered great advice as to how to arrange seats, the stage, food and beverages, the memory table, floral arrangements, etc. On the day of the service her staff quietly and efficiently set up the stations for cold drinks, appetizers, savory treats and superb desserts. The number of guests kept increasing a few weeks before the gathering, and we eventually ended up with more than 250 attendees, considerably more than anticipated. Emily was experienced with just this kind of uncertainty in the number of attendees and she and her staff managed to supply food and drink for this large crowd without any fuss. I could focus on my guests, and her staff never needed to ask me a single question - it was all handled beautifully. Clean up and packaging of the few remaining leftovers was similarly managed. These are the tastiest cupcakes I have EVER had. Every cupcake flavor was unique and each was masterfully decorated. Each one had a delicious surprise filling too!! We were blessed to have booked Emily's with only a couple months notice for my Son's wedding in late August. The whole process was remarkably smooth, Brandon was so helpful with any questions we had via email or phone. With both parties being extremely organized we didn't have to spend a ton of time with the overall wedding planning on catering details. The food tasting was a memorable experience for the couple. They were treated so special and they were blown away by the food. They decided to have Emily do their cake and went back for a tasting, with the same great experience. We can't thank Emily's enough for the final result. Since we did the planning ourselves at an outdoor ceremony (private home) with a ceremony reception flip we were really nervous about logistics. We did the flip and they did their prepping and guided us when needed. I can't believe how well it came together with timing thanks to their experience and professionalism. Our 84 guests and the happy couple raved about the food and the cake (and we had plenty of both). We had a couple chefs and many foodies in the crowd surprised thinking it was going to taste like "wedding food". I definitely recommend that you have Emily's staff the wedding. I'm glad we didn't try to take that on, it gave us time to enjoy the day. Lastly, the cake was gorgeous and delicious. The bride was very happy. I had them cater our wedding. Food was okay, we had options of chicken beef and veggie. Chicken was clearly left in warmer too long, and short ribs was a pot roast. Sides were okay. Salad was good. Our cake was not what we were expecting,, heavy frosting and not enough filling,, but that was our fault because we sampled a deconstructed version and mix'd and matched, so our expectations were off. The staff did a great job on room flip and clean up. But they did take numerous drinks that were paid for, so that was a bummer, guest had to reorder drinks multiple times and that only hurt our bar tab. I didn't care for the charges that were not in the original quote. So our final bill ended up being more than expected. All 2 weeks before our wedding. I recommend doing your own rentals and not using their account. You will be charged the same exact amount for the rentals from the rental company, but you will have to pay an extra 15% to Emily's because of an admin fee. Which i understand... but I would of liked to been informed at the time of decision. Emily literally said "you can do it or i can" perfect time to let us know there would be a service charge for managing the account. But instead we had to pay hundreds of dollars for her to update an invoice. Which is as easy as updating an Amazon shopping cart. We still had a great wedding and our guest had an awesome time, but the only thing I heard from them, after,, was the food wasn't good. read more

My wife and I chose Emily to cater our 150-person wedding in Nevada City. She and her team were incredible. She was patient with us when we changed our menu a month or so before the wedding, and was flexible in accommodating our various requests, like a last-minute request to do cheese and fruit platters for our welcome drinks for 50 people or so at Golden Era Lounge. I called Emily's having heard wonderful things and boy was I not disappointed. First of all let me start off by saying yes she is a horrible communicator. Sent emails over and over and and calls with voicemail and nothing. She acted like it was no big deal at all that she can't communicate never apologized for taking too long to get back to you or anything. I am so glad we did not use her for our wedding or we would have had a crappy one. We used her for our rehearsal dinner and only because our wedding cater Antonio who is AMAZING had a big wedding that night. Not only is she a horrible communicator but the night we showed for our rehearsal dinner she had seating set up for 18 guests and we had around 24 which we communicated to her MANY times. There was also no ice, or bins to ice down our beers and white wine which she said they would have so we had to run to the store last minute and get ice. Which means we had no cold white wine or beers, awesome! Maybe you could actually let us know to bring ice hours ahead of time or actually set the seating for our entire wedding party which we paid for and planned for in advance. Better yet she was nowhere to be found that night leaving just one server who was running around busting her ass for us having to set more tables and chairs up since they weren't prepared and didn't even have enough table cloths for the tables either! Honestly all around we were extremely disappointed. I have worked in the service industry for over 10 years and this lady operates like she has no service experience at all. Customer service is pretty damn important which includes good communication skills. I know it's slim pickings up there in grass valley but believe me you're better off going with anyone else. WOW, if I could give 6 stars I would! I contacted Emily at the last minute for a wedding family dinner. Because of COVID they were limited on how they could serve. They offered an incredible taco bar and we had 20 people so they did individual portions for all of us and the food was fantastic!!! We have a couple of chefs in our family and they were blown away by the pork! The lime rice was yummy, the salad dressing and salsa were to die for and the tortillas were warm and authentic. Their response time was definitely on the slow side, but overall professional. I'm giving this a 4-star rating because they were almost 2 hours late in delivering the cake to my reception. The people that I told to meet up with them were extremely concerned that they weren't going to show up. We couldn't get anyone to answer our phone calls and they didn't attempt to contact us. Bring your pocket book and not your appetite! I did all the meat and hired Emily's for appetizers and sides for 195 people. 37 people got NONE of her sides. She ran out of food! Also at least 15 of the 195 were no shows. I had plenty of meat. Her portions are way too small. 4 asparagus per person and a 2x3 inch size scalloped potatoes. She also wanted 10 servers for 195 people. Way too many! I told her no way, cut that in half and it was fine. Save yourself embarrassment and hire someone else for your wedding!! read more

Luckily, we found Emily and from the food tasting to accommodating all of our friends/family's food allergies/diets, they were able to make it happen. All of our wedding guests really enjoyed the food. It has been several weeks and I'm still getting comments about it. I was told by guest that it was delicious, warm, flavorful, tender, and even people with a lot of food allergies could enjoy it. John (Emily's husband) was fantastic, so was their team. All of the food was prepared on time and there was plenty of food for all of the guests. Emily and John patiently helped me as I made the decisions for the menu. One thing that I really appreciated was how they did their pricing. They list each food item per guest, so I could mix and match food items which allowed our guests to try a variety of food at a price we could afford. For example: We had 200 guests. Emily's allowed me to order 115 chicken dishes and 115 beef dishes so that everyone could try both, instead of following the formula of other catering companies which said we must order 200 chicken dishes and 200 beef dishes when ordering food for a buffet. This style of pricing saved us money and it also allowed for our guests to try a variety of salads, entrees and sides. The side dishes were incredible. It was like eating a homemade meal only it fed 200. In addition, I've stopped by their shop for savory and sweet treats both before and after the wedding. They are always welcoming and kind.
