Emma's slaps. Make sure you get their pepper sauce. My only complaint is that the rice to protein ratio is really off. So, get a side of something like the greens or cassava leaves in addition to the plate. Everything is seasoned so well!

Forget about the decor. There is none. This is no frills African eating. The restaurant is set up for takeout or dining in with about six tables. Most of the people that come here get takeout and that in itself can be frustrating. I made the mistake of coming around lunchtime and it can get real hectic. Don't expect to be waited on. You will have to go to the window or catch the staff when they walk by. That being said I come here all the time. The food portions are huge as with most Liberian restaurants. Don't expect to finish it...to go box. I usually get the fried fish and rice or the cassava leaf. Both dishes are excellent although they sometimes cook some of their dishes with vegetable oil even though they are traditionally cooked with palm oil. You have to ask when you order. If you are squeamish you can order the fish without the head cuz Americans seem to freakout about eating fried fish with the head still on it. Also they usually ask you if you want your food spicy but Liberian food is usually cooked spicy so it might still be too spicy for some. You get a lot of food for about $10 so you get your money's worth. Also the address is actually on 72nd st but the owners own the adjacent store. Pros Food tastes good Large portions Cheap Cons Not organized Decor Customer service Parking

I love this place and come here often! The food is amazing. Although there are lots of good African restaurants in this area this one stands out because of the exceptional food. Everything is delicious. My favorites are the togboghee and the fufu & pepper soup. I love that they really make the food spicy. The owner is such a nice lady also. The decor is nothing special but it's cozy & you can bring your own wine. Definitely check it out if you love African food.

If you love traditional Liberian hot pepper sauce one taste and you will know this is the real deal!

This was my final visit to Eatwell African Restaurant. I placed a pickup order and arrived early. I…read morewas told to wait until the scheduled pickup time. That would have been acceptable, except when I returned at the exact time given, I was told to wait an additional five minutes. What is the purpose of scheduling a pickup time if the order is not ready at that time? Customers' time should be respected. This is not an isolated incident. I consistently experience this issue with the same server. The attitude is dismissive and unprofessional. It often feels as though I am inconveniencing her by simply picking up food I have already paid for. The treatment toward women in particular is noticeably unpleasant and uncomfortable. If you arrive with a partner, the energy shifts in a way that feels intentional and inappropriate. Customer service is a choice. The repeated lack of professionalism, courtesy, and respect is unacceptable. Even when the food is decent, the experience overshadows it completely. I did not enjoy my meal because of how I was treated. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. Respecting customers' time and providing basic courtesy should not be optional.

The service was good and we appreciated that they had a hand washing station available on the main floor for use. For our appetizers we ordered puff puff which was my personal favorite. It was warm and delicious. We also ordered a scot egg, meat pie and veggie spring rolls which were also good. For our entrees, I went with goat, jollof rice and plantains and both of my friends got fish. One got the red snapper and the other got a white fish which they enjoyed. As far a my meal it was decent but the goat and jollof were more tomato based than I expected. Good flavor but definitely not the best I've had. I also would've liked if the plantains were sweeter. The only issue was that the prices on the menu did not match the prices on our check. They were higher on our check, which can be frustrating if you're expecting to spend a certain amount.

Let me start by saying this, do not expect high levels of customer service. When I arrived, they were having some issues with POS system. I waited several mins prior to someone speaking to me and asking to take my order. Nonetheless, the gentleman here was t super talkative but was nice. Okay onto the food. If there one thing to take away from this review: BE CAREFUL WITH THE HIGH SAUCE. This not American high sauce, this shit is no joke. Try a dab before you sprinkle it onto your food or it could potentially ruin your meal. Jallof Rice - I thought it would have been a little bit more flavorful but it was tasty Red Snapper - BOMB! Cooked to perfection I would 100% order again Plantains (not show ) - also delicious. I'd definitely Rec commend and I look forward to going back and trying some other authentic African dishes.

The Cassava leaf soup that I purchased had one piece of hard chicken for the entire small container, too much Palm oil and the spices were overwhelming to make up for being taken advantage of via lack of. I'm pissed, disappointed and I will make it known that the food now sucks, they will nickel and dime you for things that was at one time included like beef, goat meat etc.

I love that they have options to add chicken and shrimp in your food. A lot of places haven't done it that way so I was happy. I ordered cassava leaf with shrimp and rice on the side for someone and it was 8.9/10 the flavor was good had a great kick to it and it was my first time trying potato greens and I was happy with it actually I'd always ordered Egusi soup but I wanted to try something different this time and I paid $10 for fufu enough for two people or more. The portions are fantastic I actually can't wait to eat the rest later. It was 10/10. The best fufu I've ever had. I'm a texture person and I'm part Korean and black so I didn't grow up eating African food so I could never eat fufu much I end up wasting it but here was totally different it was PERFECT I know I'll keep coming back to try their food! The pricing wasn't bad but it also can get costly. I paid $4 for a Minute Maid drink so total I ended up spending about $50 for two people and one drink.

He mentioned something that my food came with sauces and confirmed that they would but when the food came out, he declined he ever said that. I ordered the pepper soup and it was outright nasty. The meat was extremely tough and chewy, they didn't give it ample time to cook. I love me some African food but feel that because my girlfriend and I aren't African, we were treated differently. We could actually hear the microwave while they microwaved our food. Very disappointing experience, I wanted to see what everyone was raving about but this is just sad. At the end of the day we were charged for three meals though we ordered two. He did the math on his phone, no cash register and kept telling me that everything I ordered had an up charge.
