The program was founded in 2011 by Aura Lynn who went to prison and had a change of heart. She became committed to helping women get out of the revolving door of incarceration in Seminole County. This ministry provides a holistic approach by helping women to get jobs, job training, and education. They also offer bridge housing and a food pantry. It was a pleasure to visit this large and inviting thrift store during a recent visit to Sanford. They had a selection of furniture, household goods, clothes, accessories, jewelry, shoes, small appliances, and children's toys and clothes. There is a boutique section and they also sell discounted items from the Publix bakery. In a backroom they have a treasure trove of items for one dollar. I had so much fun exploring this store and peeking around corners and opening cabinets to discover even more items. Different weekly sales are on the board out front. This is such a wonderful cause to support. If I lived locally this thrift store would be on my weekly rotation.

I actually found a beautiful button-up collard shirt in like-new condition for $7. Nancy purchased two like-new tops for about $3 each, not bad. If you are into vintage and artsy tops for ladies, they had a whole slew of them, like someone dropped of a big box. I see vintage stores selling tops like these for ridiculous money but everything vintage like this seems to be back in style now. Nancy had some of these vintage tops back in the 80's, the Hot Pink, Red, and Purple 'Blairs' were all the rage and were all part of her wardrobe, heck she might even still have a few. All-in-all, it was a good stop and I'm glad we were able to find something to take home on the cheap!

But I did find a nice jacket here for $8. They do not have a dressing room here so I would not buy pants or a dress here. After COVID they took away all the dressing rooms which I wish they would bring back. There was only one person working but he was friendly and helpful. This Goodwill is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking.

I pulled up out front and walked inside and was greeted almost immediately. I explained to the woman what I had And she had me pull around to the side of the building to make the donation. Everything went very smoothly and I was very happy with the experience. While I was inside the store I did see that they had a lot of merchandise for sale with some of it being brand new while other was clearly used. I didn't really have time to look around much, but I could definitely see check in this place out to see what they had available in the future.

Also, I think there was another store in the area previously where some of the photos might have been taken, but perhaps this is the newer store? Anywho, this was a store, I think ... however, it doesn't look like some of the photos in the initial reviews. From some of the photos, the place looks larger and more organized. This place was small and had a bunch of things but not things that I could use. I'm not knocking it by any means! This place helps out many people who are in need of basics. I was just on a hunt for possible flooring and doors. (I had heard from friends that they found windows, doors and flooring left over from new builds. I just don't think they are at this location.) They do have doors, but as it was just me shopping, it was hard to mull through them in the warehouse as they were stacked and my back is roughed up from a wreck I was in a year ago. It was also pretty dark in that area and the floor was plywood and I just wanted to be careful where I was walking. They do have furniture, etc., and again, if you are in need, this place can help you out. This location was one of my go-to stops while building my home and trying to decorate it, inexpensively. Being in the Fruit Cove area, it sometimes has some amazing treasures to be found! One can recognize the effort to keep items organized in each 'room' of the store. Some of the rooms change with the seasons, but also with the amount of merchandise on hand for the purpose of said room ( office, electronics, home decor, kitchen, etc.) This particular location seems to have more home care/decor items/electronics than it does clothing items. I have two serious complaints about this particular location. I'm not sure what can be done about their drop off location behind the store. There is ALWAYS a sign stating that the drop off is closed, yet it has piles of items that have been dropped off and not attended to! There is nearly ALWAYS a stack of well-worn furniture that was unacceptable to sell that is awaiting pick up by sanitation services. And the second is that in the NUMEROUS years I've been visiting this location ... their restroom has NEVER been open to the public. I would think this is some sort of code violation, but I don't know for sure. However, it does make for a problem when one brings a child into the store or needs facilities quickly, themselves.
