DO NOT GO TO EMORY HILLANDALE FOR MEDICAL HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! We arrived at the ER at 3:45 pm 1/2/2026 and it is now 8:30 am 1/3/2026 and we still have not gotten the MRI they ordered at 5:30 pm 1/2/2026. It's been 15 hours since they have ordered the MRI and we still don't have a time or even a plan as to when, where or what we will be doing. This is absolutely ridiculous for a hospital such as Emory. We will never step foot inside this hospital again!!!! So we have now been here 20 hours and no food offered what so ever. There should be a law against people being treated like this at a place that is suppose to be making you well. I tried going out to find some food but all that is in the cafeteria is chips and drinks. And trying to come back to my husband's room was almost impossible. I had to go all the way outside to come back in. This has to be the most ridiculous and frustrating hospital and experience we have EVER come across. I've reviewed this hospital before but today solidifies it.... If we are ever together and I need to go to the emergency room...NEVER and I do mean NEVER take me ghetto ass Hillandale off Panola. I'd rather just die. Rude and lazy medical assistant staff...short staff nurses and doctors so very long waiting periods. I suggest anyone to stay away. The staff is friendly that I came across. They were very busy so it will be slow. 8 sat in the waiting room for over 2 hours before getting a room. The PA, was in the room speaking to me and asked great questions. The quality of care is normal, nothing above and beyond. I had migraines so that's what I came for, it was serious and they had me take a CAT SCAN quickly. I thought it would have been an MRI but it was just a CAT SCAN. I appreciate that you see results quickly through a text and shows you the progress of your test results and the wait time for the waiting area. read more

My mom had SOB and they did not take her health into consideration instead after waiting FOREVER we finally make it to the back and the nurses are huddled up gossiping about dating married men and chilling with legs crossed and on the phone THE ENTIRE TIME!! Future reference if they worked together to get the patients out I'm sure the night would have been much better the Lobby was so FULL one lady stated that she had been waiting from 6pm - 12am now you know that doesn't make since at all. If I could give zero stars I would. I brought my son to the ER due to a dislocated shoulder he received during his wrestling tournament. At first The service in the beginning was quick. We arrived at 9:55pm on 1/29/25, my son was called into triage to get his vitals checked around 10:20. Then proceeded to get his X-ray around 10:30. After the X-rays, The X-ray Technician told us to go sit back in the waiting room and some one will be right with us. This was around 11ish.. here's the reason I give 0 stars. 3 hours later we're still waiting.. so I went to the front desk to ask what is taking so long because my son is hurting because he hasn't received any pain meds or seen a physician yet. I asked the front desk how much longer. The receptionist looks in the system and proceeded to tell me that my son was discharged at 10:30! Like what!!!. I asked How was he discharged at 10:30 if we're still sitting here?? My son never got the care he needed. They said he would have to be re-registered in order to receive any pain meds or see a physician but didn't know when he would be able to see the physician because there was an emergency. Like hello!! We're all having an emergency that's why we're in the ER! I was pretty much left with no choice but to just take my son home with out receiving care after being there for 6 hours. . It was already about 3 am 1/30/25. We never got discharge papers and no one reviewed his X-ray or examined his shoulder. I was livid and still is. I am an Emory employee and even I refuse to bring my family back here. The next day , actually 9am the same day I took my son to Piedmont urgent care and he received what he needed. They recommended that he see an orthopedic due to the bulge in his shoulder. I took him today 1/31/25 and found out that my son has an AC joint separation. All of this should have been determined with proper treatment but Emory Hillandale made my child go without treatment and you all should be ashamed. read more

By far, the worst hospital experience of my life. A family member who is elderly, diabetic, and uses a cane to walk was having problems with high blood pressure and dizziness. To be cautious, we went to the closest ER. It was just before 3 PM on a relatively calm Sunday when we got there. There were around 6 nurses or medical professionals checking people in, 2 security guards, and about 20 people in the waiting area. Within the first 2 hours, she was able to get bloodwork and urine tests done, but then radio silence. The app that tracks when a doctor will see you said she'd be seen no later than 6:35 PM (Over 3 hours after we got there). Again, still, no huge crowds or long lines to explain the delay. I went to the check-in desk to get an update and was told "The app is never accurate. We don't know how long it's gonna be". Then why even have an app? What exactly is the purpose? It was around 5 PM when I noticed the FIRST woman with an open wound come into the ER. She obviously had a broken nose and was covered and dry and wet blood. I saw her get checked in at the desk, given a wristband, and then instructed to sit with the rest of the group in the lobby to wait for who knows how long to be seen. She was given a few pieces of gauze and had to go back to the bathroom several times to get clean napkins on her own. After I asked for an update around 7, I saw yet another woman with an open head would come into the ER. She had a deep gash on her left eyebrow at least 1/2inch long. Again, she also had blood on her clothes and was only given a few pieces of gauze and told to sit in the lobby. She sat directly across from me without anyone checking if she had a concussion, or lost too much blood. She kept dozing off before she had to play videos loudly on her phone to keep her awake. At around 9 PM (6 hours after we got there) a guy in a wheelchair was wheeled toward the check-in desk where he vomited on the floor twice. Instead of immediately cleaning and disinfecting the area, the staff threw a towel on the vomit and moved him closer to the area where people charge their phones. The vomit was on the floor for at least 20 minutes before someone cleaned it. Finally, just before 10 PM, my relative was called to the triage area to be seen. She approached the area while walking on her cane and was told to "wait a few minutes". While standing there on her cane, the "medical professionals" went back to the office area to laugh and talk, ignoring her completely. After over 7 hours of waiting with no communication, she was again made to wait while being incredibly uncomfortable for them to just joke and laugh. I approached the desk to say that this elderly woman has been without food, medication, or any kind of medical attention for several hours. I guess it took me pressing the issue multiple times for them to take her health seriously. She was taken to an exam room at 10 PM. After the screening by the nurse, she still wasn't seen by the doctor for another hour and a half. Although she was satisfied with what he told her, it took 8.5 hours to be seen. I understand that healthcare professionals generally are understaffed and overworked, but this was not the case. We got to the emergency room before 3 PM, saw 2 people actively bleeding that weren't seen or screened properly, had to wait over 8 hours, were ignored by staff, and were made to wait in unhealthy conditions, given her medical history and mobility. Emergency room patients shouldn't have to wait hours to be seen with no communication. Everyone in the front office failed the patients and families there and should not be in the medical field since treating us so callously was so easy for them all. read more

This hospital does not deserve not 1 star. On Thursday February 18, 2021 I went to the emergency room at Emory Hillandale with severe chest and arm pains. When I got inside the security guard on duty took my temperature and asked me routined questions. As I'm holding my chest in pain, he asked me if I'm having chest pains. I said yes, I'm having a heart attack and he says okay and tells me where to go to get checked in. They person that was to check me in did not even acknowledge me, so I stood on a line by myself for 5 mins. The triage nurse actually came out and told me to go talk to the person at the check in desk. She asked my information then had me wait so I can get triaged. My medical wristband says 7:44pm Complaining over and over that I'm in pain no one seemed to care. They front desk lady kept trying to ask me questions but I was barely able to talk without losing my breathe. She seen that but was not very empathetic about it. I threw up several times while in the waiting room. I let them know and also asked too many times "when am I going to see a doctor?!". The French woman who is now at the check in desk comes over to me to ask more questions I asked her when will I see a doctor. He said it's all in the order of who arrived first. I asked her can she tell me how many people are in front of me and she said she can't tell me but will ask the nurse. She literally walked away from me and did not ask the triage nurse nothing at all. After some time she came back over to finish asking me questions. I asked her did she ask the nurse and her response was no. So I then got up and walked back over to triage and told them, I have to see someone now, I'm having a heart attack. While sitting in triage again she calls someone and they told her my Troponin levels were very abnormal. The triage nurse says "your blood levels came back abnormal, so there really is something wrong with your heart, but go back in the waiting room someone will call you shortly". I went and sat back in the waiting room trying to remain calm. I patiently waited and someone finally came to get me and said Told me there was finally a room available for me at 11:30pm. When I got to the back the techs were really mean and didn't want to deal with me at all. They avoided speaking to me by closing the curtain and avoiding my room. A nurse finally comes in while I'm having cold sweats. I was BURNING up, it felt so abnormal. She told me my EKG came back abnormal so she wanted me to get another one done. With the 2nd EKG it still came back abnormal so she finally told me there was nothing they can do At Hillandale and I needed to go to the main campus which I later found out was Emory Decatur. At that time the staff started treating me a little nicer now that they have confirmed I was not exaggerating and was really having a heart attack. The ambulance came at 12:25am on now February 19, 2021 to transfer me over to the new hospital. The staff at Emory Hillandale needs to be addressed. Nobody should ever be treated the way I was treat especially when it comes to life threatening situations. I never want anyone to ever go through what I went through because the outcome may not be the same. The staff should be penalized because most of the staff clearly do not care about human life. After being released from the hospital on Sunday February 21, 2021 I went back to Emory Hillandale. The Security guard on duty asked can he help me, I said "Yes, may I please speak to the patient advocate?" He didn't understand me and asked me why I needed an advocate because "advocates are for people with mental health issues" as he claimed. With him telling me that I immediately knew he DID NOT know what an advocate was. He kept talking then also said there is no patient advocate. I told him that's no problem can I speak to a manager. He started making calls, smirking and talking down on me, like I didn't have a legit reason to be there. I wanted to speak to someone else but 3 security guards and two other female employees started ganging up on me. Due to my condition I did not want to have my heart beating frantically ESPECIALLY since I was at an emergency room that wouldn't be able to help me in the event of a medical emergency. I politely asked someone else who can I file a complaint with and she gave me a sheet of paper that had the Patient Advocates phone number and I left the hospital. I am truly disgusted with every single staff that I interacted with at Emory Hillandale. This hospital needs more compassionate and empathetic employees. I will NEVER go or recommend anyone to go to this emergency room unless they only got a paper cut. read more

Trash. Trash. Trash. Only 1 or 2 ppl that i encountered during my visit had any type of customer service skills. Everyone had an attitude. No one wanted to be there at their job. The physician saw me when I first came in for an injury and I never saw him again. They were discharging me before anyone even discussed x-ray results with me. The nurse asked the doctor twice to come and talk to me prior to being discharged. I heard him tell her "ok" but he never did. No clue how long to keep the soft cast on or how to care for my injury at home. I had to ASK for crutches as the nurse was about to wheel me out the front door. I didn't even get an ER Report. Emory bought out Dekalb Medical and did nothing more than put cheap lipstick on a pig. I will never return. read more

Had an appointment for mammogram at 2pm. I arrived at 130pm. Noticed they were called patients back that checked in after me but waited patiently. It's 315pm and still I hasn't been seen. I dress and asked for a a manager no one on duty. The attendant stated she could see me after two other patients. There were several employees standing around talking and not being concerned about the long wait time. I left and will not be rescheduling. This is completely horrible, the phlebotomist just took her back to retrieve blood 5hrs later oh and let's not forget I had to remind the nurse to give my daughter a specimen cup to collect her urine. STAY AWAY . I went here August 28th for a regular testing and check up. The wait time was over 2 hrs, the nurses did not care or even stick around long enough for you to talk to them, gave them a urine sample that they insured i would get results back in a day from but instead i ended up having to call 5 days later to find out somehow my urine sample was never received . They lost it . Idk how . Even when they act like they are listening they are very dismissive and could honestly care less. They worry more about discharging you rather than you reason for the visit. This was the worst experience ever. This hospital doesn't even deserved 1 star. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE. Everyone was rude, from the receptionist on the first floor, to the nurse at the desk on the 4th floor, the nurse who was on shift and the terrible doctor. My 82 year mother was in that hospital. She was mistreated and I told them I wanted her release. I was out of town and had to rush back in town because she was in the hospital. When I walked in the room, a disrespectful nurse, I think her name was Zakisha was in the room and told me my mother wouldn't get Home services because I wanted her release from this hospital because I did not like the service she was receiving. When I walked in, my mother was shivering and shaking, looked liked she had a stroke and that was not how I left her. When I questioned them about what was going on. The nurse was rude. The doctor (Dr. Anna Sikod) kept trying to give my mother a procedure that she didn't need. And told me she had a UTI then walked out of the room and came back and said she didn't have one. Don't ever go to Hillandale. The care is worst than substandard. The nicest person was the radiology tech and the nurse who helped with the wheel chair. DON'T GO!!!!!!!! read more

I was rushed to Hillandale Emory hospital via ambulance due to having major Covid-19 complications. From the moment I arrived the staff was very attentive and kept me well informed every step of the way throughout my 2 day hospital stay. I was there through multiple staff shift changes yet they all provided impeccable care. Dr Vu's medical attention thoroughly diagnosed and addressed my medical issues and restored me back to health before releasing me to continue my recovery at home. I want to thank nurses Betty, Mariam, Erica, Jody, etc., you gave great care. Good customer care is hard to come by these days but I found it at Hillandale Emory Hospital. read more

This facility has the worst customer service, ever! I came here last week on a late night with shortness of breath and a racing heart. Upon entering I wasn't greeted by the receptionist, they simply looked at me as if I was dumb. They finally got me in after asking for oxygen 3 times and more than 10 minutes later. No one ever took my insurance card, only my ID. I ended up being there for more than 5 hours. The Dr. did all of the right things to fix my condition, but when I tell you it was almost like he had to send out a search party to find his staff...it was ridiculous! No one ever checked my throat, eyes, ears or lymph nodes, which is usually standard. They forgot to get a urine sample and only remembered after unhooking all of the machines from my body and I was already on the toilet. They barely remembered to draw blood. And still, no one ever took my insurance card! When I was finally discharged I stopped at the front desk and asked if they needed my insurance card. There were two people sitting there, one of whom was a nurse who worked on me during my stay. The other person proceeded to say: "are you talking to me????" I was shocked, but told her I was talking to who ever could help me. Then she said: " well, what did you say?" And then I asked did she need my insurance card. She claimed they didn't, so I left...I can't wait to see what this bill is going to look like. I usually pay an ER co-pay, but I paid nothing that night. I'm sure I'm going to have to jump through hoops to get it over to my insurance. Please get a new staff of competent and somewhat friendly people. My Doctor there was decent, but it is sad to say, the only person who was pleasant and professional happened to be the only white nurse that I saw. We have to do better black people! Smh I was referred by the Dr. to a cardiologist there, but due to the service I received at the ER, I decided to book my appointment at Emory! read more

Flu is here so when my grandson called me and said he had severe sore throat and a awful cough with a lot of mucous, I went to the CVS &Kroger and picked him up sore throat medicine and cough medicine. He took all meds and Vit C for 3/4 days with not getting any better so i decided to go E.R. We were in E.R. for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours without getting a diagnosis when he came out he said the doctor said i could have the Flu, or could be Covid or maybe just a cold The doctor told him to get Rx filled, get a Covid test, take medicine as prescribed and stay off work until 12/09/21 I feel like we didn't get the treatment we went for [1] throat swab [2] Covid test [3] Rx called to Walmart The doctor told my grandson they didn.t have Covid test there in E.R. which is crazy and why no throat swab I fill like we were cheated I give the E.R. # 2 stars read more

Worst experience ever. Only person who had sense was the Ultrasound Tech. Everyone else was giving very much unprofessional and don't care about the well-being of patients. When I walked in a member of the registration team was dancing implying that she was doing something she saw on Tiktok. I went In for shortness of breath and blurred vision which is a side effect of my Covid-19 diagnosis, I wasn't aware of that as being a side effect until I googled. These unprofessionals allowed me to sit there for 4 1/2. I went in a 2am left at 6am and had not been seen byno other medical professionals besides the Ultrasound tech. This is now Emory Hillandale and I must say our stay here has been very pleasant indeed. My mom was admitted to through the ER and the people in the ER were very attentive. My mom has dementia and arrived via ambulance from her personal care home alone. The ER nurse Eden took really great care of her before and after I arrived. She was admitted to the 4th floor for about 4 days. The hospital staff was great. The rooms were clean and well appointed. They took great care of my mom. read more

This hospital's rehab department leaves alot to be desired. They are so unprofessional compared to other hospital rehabs I have been to. The receptionist let me sit out front for 50 minutes, then couldn't find the therapist, and told me I would need to reschedule. I am pissed because not only do I need to begin treatment for my ROM but they are located 30 minutes away from my house. What a total waste of my time, gas, and energy. The receptionist couldn't say anything but im sorry ..... my response was I agree you are sorry. She gives me another appt time for a week later, then doesnt know the correct date, so she had to reschedule yet again. It took her 20 minutes to get my appointment rescheduled. She needs to find a new position, this isn't for her. read more

I took my boyfriend in for some shortness and I dropped him off at 5:04 pm he wasn't able to be seen until 4 am this morning .. knowing that he had shortness of breath they didn't even offer him a wheel chair they made him walk to everywhere he had to go, finally at 5 am the put him in a room do all these rest just to realize he is fine , they do a breathing treatment and leave him there atleast 45 minutes nobody even came to check on him he had to ring the bell just to get some help .I love all thing Emory but if I ever have an emergency I will never come back here ever !!!!!! read more

If you walk into ER like most you may have to wait a while to be seen, depending on your condition. By ambulance of course you are seen right away. Overall, I think the hospital has improved under Emory and the nursing staff on ICU are great! The regular floor and ER a little less but sometimes you have to request what you need or ask questions regarding your care or your family member care. Make sure you understand what is going on. Need a better security process in order to go up on the floors. I understand having security but it's needs a better way. read more

I've been here like 4 times before and only one of those times I was waiting for someone else so I'm not new to this place. I usually go to the ER when I find something wrong with me but my general doctor's office is on the other side of the building. I just prefer walk-ins versus scheduling appointments most of the time. The service is good... not above and beyond great customer service but not bad either. The place is pretty clean. In never been insulated nor humiliated as much as coming here. Went In with a work injury came out with a misdiagnosis and extreme pain and anguish. Not only do I have to deal with Worker's Comp. I have to deal with discriminatory actions by physicians when all they should be there to do is help! And make people feel warm and happier. The nurses are pretty nice the physicians I just don't understand how u can treat someone so rude. read more
