Waited with a gash in my eye with barely anyone in here. Was seated for over a hour and a half with no one taking me back.

The staff keeps this place functioning as good as any high traffic place you will go in Atlanta. Parking is easy and so is navigating the building. I have done countless visits to this hospital and always feel confident that the patients are being treated with the best practices, in fact I recommend it as the top place for medical procedures. The Marcus cardiac center is impressive. It is Located right off Peachtree Rd in Buckhead with spacious rooms and welcome / waiting area. Hospitals can be a depressing and intimidating experience, but every part of Piedmont Hospital is uplifting and relaxing. From the surgery center, to Emergency Room, to the general hospital this is the best there is.

Don't go to this ER. The hospital, clinics, surgery, who knows, might be great. Don't go to this…read moreER. Don't. Firstly, the very first thing a patient sees after walking through the ER doors and passing security is the registry desk. At the registry desk is a little silver sign. It reads "We Regret That We Cannot Validate Parking." I do not believe that they regret this for one moment. The parking is very very far away from the emergency room door, so if you have the temerity to drive yourself or get a private citizen to drive you to the emergency room, you may well need a gurney by the time you get there. Valet parking at the emergency room is twelve dollars. Secondly, the registry desk does not actually register you. I gave the folks at the desk my cards and whatnot, and they typed some things and then gave me a piece of paper with a phone number on it, for me to complete my own registration via telephone. I say this with sarcasm: Because someone who has lost a shitton of blood is absolutely the best person to put on the telephone to confirm delicate details, and airing such delicate details in a crowded waiting room where people are crying must be simple and safe for such a person. Of course. They won't even keep hold of the stupid little barcode stickers that they use for procedures with your name on them. You have to hold onto your sheet of stickers and not bleed on it or lose it or drop it. When I was there, the two public-facing hand sanitizer dispensers in the waiting room were empty. The only hand sanitizer dispensers that were not empty are the ones outside the triage rooms. The Piedmont Emergency Services department's triage folks have no manual blood pressure cuffs and no time to get one, so if someone cannot use an automatic, all they will do is write down that you refused the reading. This seems counterproductive for triage. I was able to see the phlebotomists after 2-3 hours. They were champions, for what it's worth, but they were not there for medical advice. After three and a half hours, I was bored, in pain, and hungry and thirsty, because food and drink are not allowed in the ER waiting room. After 6 and a half hours, my friend went to the phlebotomists to get my IV device removed so we could leave. We gave up because I had eaten one small slim-jim since 4pm and it was 2am. I'd become more and more light-headed due to low blood sugar. I'm diabetic. I was stumbling when I walked. The people I saw neglected while I was there put me in a PTSD episode for weeks. Their system of paperwork required me to sign an AMA, which I had to refuse to sign as I had received no medical advice whatsoever.

5 stars for the hospital and staff…read more 1 star for the ER I changed my loved ones insurance to have Emory. It's a higher standard of care and I like teaching hospitals even if 5 scribes and students always accompany the doctor. HOSPITAL/CLINIC Self-parking and valet is a headache and expensive unless you're admitted for three weeks or longer, then you can buy an in and out pass. No parking validation for emergencies. Although the ER and hospital rooms have WiFi, common areas and clinic lobbies lack cell service. Uber drivers can't find you because there are several hospital entrances. Allow plenty of time if you have more than one appointment in different areas (A, B, C). Eye doctors are on three different floors which is confusing. Emory is huge so take advantage of wheelchairs if needed. Some doctors don't read the chart so be prepared to repeat yourself and take notes. Nurses are caring and hard working and the ICU is excellent. There are filtered water fountains & a cafe that's always open for delicious hot meals or snacks although the prices recently increased. Take a pic of the patient menu and call their order in. Clean and comfy rooms have couches, cable, storage and a couch/recliner for guests, some even have views. I love 'My Chart' where records, appointments, prescriptions and communication with your provider is just a few phone clicks away. The ER is another story entirely. EMERGENCY ROOM First visit was for a serious emergency which required surgery. The stay was extended several days for an MRI. We were told even patients arriving in ambulances were lined up stretcher to stretcher to wait for an MRI. Second trip after an accident involved a reasonable wait time and thorough care. But the third visit was the last. We waited in a freezing lobby crammed with sick people for 15 hours before seeing a doctor. We were given a wait time via app which extended until updates stopped completely. I've never heard such bloodcurdling screams, one patient in back sounded like he was being tortured. From 4pm to 6am there were NO DOCTORS. A young man was was crying out in agony after losing his mom. Sadly, people were taking their frustration out on the front desk person due to a lack of security. One guard ran out from the back after being stabbed in the hand by a patient. I had to go for a walk to calm down while my loved one froze, waited and starved. No-one informed us of a cafeteria. Thin blankets were handed out and patients were told no meds without first seeing a physician. We didn't see one until the morning shift arrived. The nurse admitted someone died due to lack of staff and she was going to quit. Thank God my loved ones injury was not life-threatening. I filled out a survey and never heard from Emory. As frightening as this ER experience was, I'd still choose this campus over Emory Decatur where previously, a serious omission was made during surgery and the room wasn't clean. Grady isn't even in the running. But since we're privileged enough to have a car, we'll drive the extra 15 minutes to St. Joseph's for future ER visits. SUM Emory University Hospital (Clifton) has room for improvement, especially regarding ER and parking. But cleanliness, care, comfortable rooms, My Chart, meals and staff are recommended.

All the nurses that were assigned to me were so sweet and supportive i could tell they love what they do. They took care of my baby during postpartum and made sure that we were okay. Staff was friendly at the check in counter, and I did not have to wait too long to get signed in. I had already spent 50 minutes on the phone for the preoperative interview. The preparation for my surgery didn't take too long either. The nursing staff was very friendly and professional. The Anestesia Doctor did his job, but he was not extremely personable. To him, I was just a number. However, my Doctor Karen Buhariwalla was amazing. She explained what would happen in the upcoming procedure, and made small talk to make me feel confident, and relaxed. After the surgery the dismissal process was easy. Noone wants to have anything to do with a hospital, but if I ever have to, I would chose this one.
