This was my first and last experience with this hospital's Emergency Department. I arrived around 8:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening, and the ER was not particularly crowded. During the initial triage, the nurse practitioner, Deveane Atkinson, made what I felt were dismissive and judgmental comments about my daughter's condition, including saying, "Job security." That immediately set an unprofessional tone. Two hours later, my daughter was still in severe pain and had only received about half a bag of IV fluids, despite presenting with dehydration and persistent vomiting. She was then given oral medication, which she immediately vomited back up. I informed the nurse that she was unable to keep the medication down. Approximately 45 minutes later, the nurse practitioner returned and told us that my daughter's lab results were normal and that there was nothing more they could do. At that point, my daughter was still writhing in pain, actively vomiting, her IV fluids were barely infusing, and the oral medication had been ineffective because she couldn't keep it down. We had already been in the ER for nearly four hours with no meaningful improvement. I informed the nurse practitioner that a different medication had successfully treated these symptoms during a previous episode. I was simply told, "No, she's not getting that." When I expressed concern that discharging her in this condition would likely result in us returning to the emergency room because the issue had not been resolved, the response I received was, "That's fine." The nurse later returned with discharge paperwork, administered two medications through the IV, and discharged my daughter while she was still in significant pain and actively vomiting. This is not the level of care, compassion, or professionalism I expect from an emergency department. Unfortunately, my concerns proved to be valid. As I predicted, we returned to the emergency room the following day--this time at the main Piedmont Atlanta facility. There, my daughter received compassionate, appropriate treatment and is finally on the road to recovery. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Piedmont Rockdale's Emergency Department. I sincerely hope this review leads to improvements in both patient care and communication so that other families do not have a similar experience. read more

We came here the other morning to take my bf who was not feeling well we arrived around 6am . It was two staff members at the front desk and one person sitting in the lobby waiting to be seen . They seem to be pretty slow for no one to actually be there like that but we still continued to wait . My bf was finally seen and now the process started to move a tad bit faster . We went into a side room and saw the dr pretty fast the nurse that was helping was very sweet and nice . We were finally in and out . They provided discharge papers and prescriptions and we were on are way . The room was pretty small and not really clean to be exact , plus the stuff is not locked away in the room i find that kinda dangerous. read more

My husband required immediate medical attention due to severely elevated blood pressure that persisted despite administering two doses of high blood pressure medication. On March 10, we arrived at the hospital at approximately 4 PM. My husband informed the front desk staff that he was experiencing chest pains and high blood pressure, and they instructed us to take a seat. A few minutes later, we were summoned to the front desk, where he sat in a chair, and they checked his blood pressure, noting its extreme elevation. We were then directed to sit down again, and his name was called once more. They performed an EKG and chest X-ray, after which we sat down again. Following a few hours, we were called to the desk to recheck his blood pressure, which remained high. He complained of a headache and dizziness, yet we were instructed to continue waiting. At 8 PM, we were escorted to a room in the ER, where his blood pressure reading was 224/126 and remained unstable for four hours. At 11:30 PM, a doctor entered the room and eventually admitted him. I inquired about the four-hour delay in his examination, and he explained that he had other patients to attend to. I fail to comprehend why a patient presenting with chest pains and severely elevated blood pressure was not accorded more prompt attention. I went to the out patient lab yesterday for bloodwork. I got myself registered and went into the out patient lab. The lady behind the desk was on the phone. She saw me come in, I 'now this because we made eye contact. I didn't approach the desk because she was on the phone. There was another lady in the waiting area with an infant. I sat down in a seat and waited. Now this lady behind the desk ended the phone and made another. She was making personal phone calls while people waited in the waiting area. She never called to the back to let anyone know we were waiting. 20 minutes later, she ended the phone tell ing the other party she had an interview for a managers position. During the phone call she was talking about her lunch and Uber Eats. She ended the call and walked to the back. Never saying no anything. By this time, the lady with the child got up and walked out. Ow, another lady walks in. I walk around asking if there was anyone working and could someone draw my blood labs. The same lady that was sitting behind the desk talking on the phone, she walked out front nd asked if anyone was there for labs. I responded yes. Now, this is where it gets interesting. I made my option heard about her making personal phone calls while people wait for someone in the labs. She got mad because she got called out. I finally went to a room and another lady ran my labs. While I was in there, the Piedmont Security came into the room I was in. That lady had called security on me all because she got called out and didn't like it. Here we go, This one is a hit or miss review. So my daughter used to work at this hospital so of course she knew people here. However the hospital was very clean. Have to give a huge shot out to the following nurses on Labor and delivery. Melissa, Morgan, and there were 2 other nurses . I totally forgot there name, sorry. They were all amazing with helping deliver my grand daughter. It was an amazing experience to see my grand daughter born. The care and attention that was giving was amazing. Employees were very helpful and friendly. Hospital is in a good location not to far from the expressway I20 and near variety of stores. It's a bit confusing with the different entrances as to where to go however eventually you will find your way around. Food service was good . The food was a rating of 6. It can improve a bit. I was discriminated against as a white person. I wasn't treated as kindly by the other nurses cause I was white. They even roughed me up a couple of times I had to report it & call the police once. After a few horrible days stay, I was pushed into unnecessary test I didn't want, belittled, undermined, talked to like a child, had my wishes ignored, made to be felt completely ignorant, and left in pain for 10-plus hours twice, and then my 3 day stay was over and I was sent home. And do you want to know the crystal-clear, scientifically rigorous diagnosis I received? SEPSIS, from some mystery infection they can't find. It's the medical equivalent of shrugging and saying, "Dunno, probably a virus or something." Truly, the cutting edge of modern medicine. I'm just thrilled I got to pay thousands of dollars for this high-level guesswork. And let me tell you, if you enjoy guessing which body part the nurses are about to poke next, then Piedmont Rockdale is the place for you! They used me as a human pin cushion while playing a game of roulette over "Which color tube should we use next?" I was stuck more then 15 times, had to have 3 Ivs because they continued to run the fluids to fast after being told not to because my veins are sensitive to it, and they gave me blood thinners after being told twice not to because I have a bleeding issue. I get migraines from contrast but had to do the CT scan 3 times and was promised a migraine cocktail that I never got, i laid in pain for more then 10 hours twice waiting on something for my head and was offered Tylenol, ferocet, and Norco which did nothing for the pain and they knew that from the first 2 times. I also am prescribed pain medication daily from my doctor to which I only recieved twice in the time I was there and I wasnt recieving any other pain medication other then from the CT scan. I honestly think their hiring process involves a blindfolded dart toss at a roster of people who failed remedial first aid, and the room was a broom closet for the charge nurses ride with a kids' size toilet! There was cut straws, needles and blood left behind from the pervious patient that my daughter had to put on gloves and clean up. I 've complained about this facility before, but in a moment of crisis, you always hold out hope that maybe, just maybe, they hired one person who understands human anatomy, and that just isn't the case. My med student daughter knew more than they did. Honestly I have more faith in a confused toddler to correctly identify my butt from my elbow than I do in the staff of that entire building. Next time I feel the need for a hospital, I'm risking a high-speed car chase just to get to a hospital where the doctors have at least heard of an internal organ. read more

This review involves the restrooms in Building B of Piedmont Rockdale Outpatient Surgical Hospital in Conyers, Georgia. We have visited this facility for surgical procedures four times. Each time, when we used the hospital restroom in the hallway near the front entrance of Building B, there was both liquid and solid human waste material on the toilet, walls, floor and sink. This is a significant public health issue because of the potential infection of any person using the bathroom in this area. Staff, blood borne infections and infection of any cuts or bruises would be possible due to the amount of waste material involved. This was brought to the attention of two hospital employees. My dad visited me from Florida and he was rushed to the hospital for is heart. The second day he was there, he wanted breakfast and the nurse said no you can't eat breakfast, and then he asked for lunch. The nurse said that he couldn't eat lunch either. Potential patients, BEWARE! Totally ignoring their hippocratic oath, the doctors at this hospital recently set an extremely ill 68 year old man out on the sidewalk, where passers by found him unresponsive. He still had medical tubes coming out of his body! The hospital's excuse for this was that his medicare days had run out and "they wanted him gone" So much for compassionate care, it's all about the dollar here. He was found to have signs of sepsis, a UTI, and irregular heartbeat. Please take your business elsewhere, especially if you have elderly family members. this is the worst hospital ever. i had 0 privacy, 4 hour wait, staff asked me to spell uvula for her, it was dirty,and quite rude. I visited the imaging dept for testing several days ago and, again, today. After speaking with a hospital liaison following the first visit, it was agreed that the study needed to be re-administered. Today, I arrived at the proper time mid morning, visited Registration (was seen in an expected amount of time based on how many people were waiting), and then I went to check in in the imaging dept. The waiting room was nearly full (sure to be a "Monday" for the employees), but people were being called back at regular intervals. Once I had seen everyone there before me and several after me get called for their test, I verified that I wasn't overlooked. Shortly thereafter, an RT(?) collected me for the test I had fasted for yesterday. Total time spent on a busy, Monday, morning? 3h 14m. This hospital emergency room is so slow it's ridiculous. There is no reason that I come in for cheat pains at 3:30 pm and I am still waiting in the lobby to be seen 5 hours later. This is Ludacris and they need to do better. I am from New Jersey and I can say our top hospitals would never. The way to fix the solution is to split the patients according to level of emergency. If u create a fast track department for low level emergency that doesn't technically require a room visit it saves bed space. Then u have the rooms for severely urgent patients. Also, there should be a separate section all together for pediatric emergency. Maybe yall should take Note from Saint Barnabas where they maintain organization and pleasant environment. I had a miscarriage April 12 and when the emt got me to the hospital they told the staff I was bleeding way to much I waited in the hall where the emt entry is for 30-45 just for them to roll me up the hall and try to sit me in the waiting room for a 9 hour wait while I was soaking the emt bed A dr that I don't remember came to try to put me in a wheel chair only to stand me up and more blood pooled at my feet she takes me to triage give me morphine and sit me in another hallway in a recliner with my dude 1 and half passes by I'm still bleeding profusely I'm scream and cramping my dude looks between my legs and see our baby and part of my placenta He runs to get someone just for them to put me in a exam room for another 2 hrs while I'm screaming and everybody can hear They finally come take me into a share room saying I'm going to have to deliver but instead of me pushing dr Craig sticks her whole hand in my vagina and breaks my water and pulls my son out and proceeds to put him in a jar Never sent me for a ultrasound to make sure all of the baby and material was out A week later i was still in pain still bleeding and found out by my obgyn tissue was still there I had to get surgery to get the rest out They are rude and disrespectful I don't recommend anyone go to this hospital They don't care about you read more

This hospital needs more professional staff. They need to hire actual nurses and assistants with training. The ER is so filthy. Its no social distancing. They leave patients in the waiting room for 6 hours or more with no explanation. If you question it, the staff treats you rude and have attitudes. I literally spent 98% of my time in the waiting room area and was treated in a triage room. This is obsurd! Please hire more staff to help people be seen faster. The experience with Rockdale Medical Center was one of the worst I have encountered. Nurses and staff were beyond rude - more concerned about beating protocol times than patient care. A PA got in my face when questioning about medical treatment. The original course of treatment given was incorrect / ineffective which warranted a second trip to the ER in the same day. The second time we visited we were forced to wait over 4 hours for an issue we had previously already been in the emergency room for 8 hours with. No preference was given about waits, no one on staff cared that a mistake was made. Ended up the second time having to the leave for a better facility because the condition deteriorated quickly, staff members in triage refused to come reevaluate. A patient in a shared room passed away while we were waiting for treatment - prior to his death nurses made comments such as "have you ever done a catheter on a male? Well, it's a lot easier than a female, theres only one hole you can go into." The hospital is quick to make patients aware the contract their staff out (doctors, and other specialists), and when complaints are lodged hospital administrators are quick to point fingers that they have no control over the staff that you'll have to call such and such number. read more

AVOID! STAY AWAY! Absolutely ridiculous wait time! Arrived at 12:30am with chest pain and pain my left arm. Was seen right away by the triage nurse, ekg done promptly. Dr. came in looking as if he either just woke up or had been up for two days! I honestly believe that he had been up for two days straight! I told him he looked drowsy and needed to go home. Well, after blood drawn and an X-ray 8 hours later my blood pressure was still ridiculously high 165/79! (Normal bp for me is 116/70) I should mention it was 211/94 when I arrived, so I assume they considered it an improvement 3 aspirins and 8 hrs later. By the way, the Dr. didn't actually arrive to see patients till 7:30am. And here we are 12hrs later, headache, arm pain and bp still on the rise! Unbelievable! Rude security guard came around to tell us it's a smoke free campus but we were all standing around the ash tray they provided. When we asked him about it he said that was for if u were smoking when u got out of ur car u could put the butt somewhere. Very misleading and security guy was rude as heck, I guess I would be too if I wasn't even qualified to be a real cop and had to be a "rent a cop" for a underperforming hospital. Guard told us to put out our cigarettes before he came back or he would have to "escalate it". Very threatening. I've been to this hospital three times during the pandemic. Two were ER experiences and one was a surgery center experience. Of the three I've gone and including the several times before the pandemic, the staff is always respectable, caring and always efficient. The rooms are always clean and I always noticed a custodian around throughout the day. Nurses are so kind and always offer water and give great advice. Normally I like Rockdale Hospital as my last child was born there, and it was a pleasant experience, I also brought him in a month ago with pink eye and we were in and out. Not today!!! I arrived in the ER at 10: AM, bloodwork was drawn at 11: AM, I asked how long before I received my results, I was told 35 minutes. How about 10 hrs later I am still not seen, yes I said that right, 10 hrs, in the waiting room I did not see any victims of stab wounds, gunshots, mauled by a mountain lion, ran over by a police cruiser, burn victim who set self on fire. The usual run of the mill folks seeking help. One doctor on staff, to be fair the staff was very hard working, professional and tried to do their best. Just who is really running Rockdale? One would think to merge with Piedmont it would be a tightly run ship. I want to know who's cousin Bob got the hookup right out of high school to run upper corporate, in putting together a functioning ER, seriously who is the Edward Sizzorhand responsible for this slash and burn running of the ER. Just disgraceful!!!! tomorrow I will have to go into an urgent care and hope to black baby Heru, Rockdale has it's act together enough to fax over my bloodwork. tl;dr If you feel as though you are getting unnecessary diagnostic tests, please refuse them and state that you would like to be seen by an MD before getting any tests done. While you may have to wait a bit longer, you won't have unnecessary testing/billing done. Also, speak up! This is regarding the ER. I was incredibly disappointed with the care received. My little sister fainted while in the shower during her period. She had a small gash on her head-- because it was on her face we wanted to make sure there was no scarring and thus took her to the ER. When we got there, they checked us in... and called us to the back for an EKG and blood work (excessive, yes, but it is the ER). They took us back to the front, and called us back again for a chest x-ray. The NP was walking by so we inquired as to why a chest x-ray was needed for someone who fainted (with known cause) after an EKG was already done. The NP proceeded to tell us that football players have fainted and died (completely irrelevant). I asked her if the EKG was normal, and her response was that there was syncope and we needed to find the cause of the syncope. Then she asked my 18 yr old sister if she felt a vagal response. I looked up what syncope was on my phone- "fainting"? Why is a medical professional using these terms when talking to patients? Terrible bedside manner. My sister had to ask what she meant, and she still was unable to explain properly. I asked if my sister needed all these tests as she has been acting completely normal- she just has a cut on her forehead and I wasn't sure if it'd scar. NP asked when the fall occured and I told her it was 10 am (this was about 11 hours later), and she responded she didn't realize. I asked if they would give my sister treatment without all these diagnostics tests and the NP said that they would not! We felt stuck at that point, because the stitches needed to be done within a certain time frame. AFTER all of this, we to the front and get called back again-they decided to finally take vitals/check the blood pressure of the girl who fainted! They also said they needed to take do a CAT scan of her head! At this point, we refused treatment to the tech and said we needed to see an MD/physician. The CT tech said okay and said we could go back out front. Over an hour later, we were called back so more blood could be drawn; I asked if there was something wrong with the first draw, and was told no- they simply have to draw blood for the particular test over a period of six hours. We inquired as to why this was necessary and where the doctor was and why this was all needed for some stitches! The NP came and said she was waiting on the CAT scan results before she did stitches. We asked her who was ordering all these tests, and we absolutely refuse to have a CAT scan. She said the doctor ordered them and we'd have to sign a waiver saying we decline treatment. We said we would like to see the doctor who is ordering these tests, because why is he/she doing so without even seeing the patient. She said she was ordering on behalf of the doctor. We proceeded to sternly say we need to see a doctor, and her response was, "Well I see patients all the time by myself." We replied that was fine but we need to see a doctor. In the meantime, she went back to her office and we heard her talking to the doctor on speakerphone who said that we did NOT need to sign anything, but simply make sure it was noted in the chart. After some time we were put in a room, and then waited for the doctor. The poor doctor came in a while later and was very sweet. I was ready to just have my sister receive treatment and leave, but my mother said it was important to tell/ask about what happened because other patients need protection to. I then went into detail of everything happened, and said I felt the chest x-ray was completely unnecessary, I was appalled that the blood pressure of a patient who came in because she fainted was taken AFTER having a chest x ray, and the bedside manner and advanced terminology of the NP (Kim Tarver) was unacceptable. Very surprisingly, the doctor agreed. She professionally stated she agreed that the chest xray was unnecessary and my sister did not need a CAT scan. She said the blood pressure thing was an outlier, but still needed to be noted...and she stated the terminology used was a personnel issue. After all this, she used liquid stitches (liquid skin) on my sister. She's good to go now, but it was an incredibly painful, unnecessary process. read more

I would give the hospital a zero. From my experience the er was decent, I didn't wait long but it was not clean at all. My problems alway being when I get admitted to this hospital. The staff here are rude and have a cocky nasty above everyone else attitudes. Most of the techs, nurses, doctors have not been trained in the healthcare field very well. The have a lot of student nurses posing a long term nurses. The nurse practitioners named Andrea rose is the nastiest of them all. The head doctor Heiner to is racist and has no compassion for her patients. She throws around the fact that she is head doctor around but she looks like she needs to be a patient herself. The phlebotomist here can't not draw blood. The doctors google your symptoms which I can do that myself or they will blame it on a preexisting condition because they don't know what's wrong. The change the hospital policy everyday to suit their needs. The doctors run test you shouldn't have to take. I had them tell me I've been sick to long and the insurance won't pay them. They are money hungry and don't care about the patients. read more

I've been here since 9am! It is now 2:52 pm. Everything is out of order here. People are fussing because of the long wait times. I still haven't seen registration yet. I'm beyond irritated. Then I had to provide another urine sample because they didn't label it. If not needed please go to another place or do urgent care if you can because this is for the birds.
