This is the new building located in front of Grady Memorial Hospital on 80 Gilmer Street. As soon as you walk in go through the metal detector. Thank you for ensuring some safety measures. The front desk had maybe 3 receptionist. They were pleasant and asked if I needed help. They directed me to the elevators around the corner to the left. Before you reach the elevators, there is comfortable seating to rest or wait located in the lobby. I have to stress that there is seating everywhere in this facility. The lobby is huge with high ceilings. Lots of decor from the ceiling as well. After resting I took the elevators to the 6th floor. Signs direct you where to go for the particular clinical specialty you are attending. I rememeber seeing Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastrointestinal Care, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, General Surgery Center. The Eye Center was at the very end of a long corridor. Each specialty has its own front desk receptionist, seating and restroom. The receptionist asked if I was ok because I was out of breath. She checked me in and advised me transport could take me downstairs instead of walking that long distance. I appreciated the suggestion. I was called to the back and had several tests administered by two technicians, one being Makenzie. She was very gentle and answered my questions to the vest of her ability. She ignored our emails for days at a time, pushed for phone calls but would only offer weekend availability even after we repeatedly said we were only available on weekdays, and then justified it by saying weekends were the only time she could talk because she has kids. At one point, after a full week of no response, she replied to our availability with a single word: "Ok." That alone tells you everything you need to know about how seriously she takes her customers. Long story short I have been having random fainting spells. I'm very winded just doing the simplest things like going up a flight of stairs, extreme fatigue, and just not feeling like my normal self. The last straw was an evening out with my sister and me having a random fainting spell while dining at a restaurant. She had never seen this happen to me and it was very scary and eye-opening which led to Dr. Rangarajan at Piedmont Heart Institute Brookhaven Cardiology. I must say my visit was very enlightening, very resourceful. Dr. Rangarajan was very thorough showed compassion and demonstrated stellar bedside manners! Even his physician assistant was top-notch. I left feeling educated of the necessary steps, he's taking to ensure we get to the bottom of why I'm having the fainting episodes and find a resolution which brings me sense of relief. Just a note to everyone please take care of your health, especially your heart and vascular health. It has no age limit. My significant other had an unexpected heart attack January 2025 at 43 years young. I'm so thankful he's still here with us! However, it doesn't always turn out this way as six months later we lost two friends and a family member to massive heart attacks all well in their early to late 40s. I'm grateful to have found a specialist who cares about my well-being and is taking his time to ensure all the necessary screenings/ test are scheduled. Do not wait for an ache or pain to get checked. Please take the time to go get your screenings. Make your heart health your priority!
