Phil has worked at my house twice in Santa Cruz. First time changed out 3 ceiling lights to LED. He showed up on-time, worked very neatly and cleaned area afterwards, and was very nice and pleasant. Phil returned a second time to change out a bathroom faucet and showerhead. Again, on-time, neat and tidy work area and cleaned up afterwards. Both times, Phil did some very quick fixes. For example, my outdoor gate was wonky and he tightened the screws. I had no idea it could be fixed so quickly. I highly recommend Phil. :) read more

Phil does beautiful work, is pleasant to talk to, also very reliable, & charges the going rate. He came to clean my gutters before Christmas, after working another job in the morning and before driving all the way from Santa Cruz to Mexico after he finished my job. He climbed up on top of one of the two flat roofs I have over bay windows in two rooms with 17 foot high ceilings, found that the roofs were deeply covered in leaves, blew them clean as well as the gutters, and then blew some leaves and cobwebs off my front porch on his way down. He recently competed a random list of home repairs, including adjusting a screen door, a closet door, bathroom drawers, fixing a garage door light sensor, and installing a new toilet. He arrived right on time both for our "preview" meeting and on the day he did the work. His work was meticulous, and there was virtually no trace that he had been there when he was finished, since he did such a great cleanup job! He is also just a really nice guy. I set up an appointment with Phil to install some light fixtures several days in advance. After clearing my calendar for an entire day, Phil never showed up. I called him repeatedly that day and days after and he never returned my call. Don't waste your time with Emory's Handyman Service. He seems reliable but he definittely is not. read more

I highly recommend Phil. He did a slew of jobs last week for me including tub caulking (tub looks brand new) and tricky french door knob repair. He even saw a broken chair and took the initiative to repair it. Great attitude, hard working, doesn't take short cuts on labor-intensive jobs. read more

We had Phil referred to us by a friend quite a few years back. He has done so much work on our house, from putting up shelves and racks to fixing leaks to doing a partial kitchen remodel (which included him building a cabinet to match what we already had). He also built an outdoor wheelchair ramp and made it weatherproof. (He's done lots of other things too, but I can't remember it all.) We have been nothing short of uber-pleased with the work.
