As of the actual building Rooms are nice, far larger than what I was expecting (from a city that packs students in tight) if anything has an issue they will fix it quickly (only if you email them not if you fill out the form online). Make sure to take pictures and document things the main guy at the front desk is amazingly friendly and always says hello, quick to solve problems. I will say the RAs are rather standoffish but honestly, it's a studio apartment so doesn't really make sense that they'd be as involved like in the US Freshman dorms. My sink leaked when I moved in they got my move in date mixed up and didn't have my linens ready, all was promptly sorted within a few hours. the room had not been thoroughly cleaned (when I had to move the fridge there was so much grossness) the shower is kind of small and the shower curtain doesn't do shit (hence the drain in the floor of the bathroom). The sheets you can buy through the university housing are cheap and the quality reflects that rather itchy had to use fabric softener (which I have never used before in my life) the desks are really long plenty of room heater works great and if you gave some boxes storage works perfectly. The carpet had not been steamed cleaned before I moved in and the windows could really use a washing. All that said I WOULD HAVE given this still a 4.5 out of 5, way better than anything I've had in the US way cheaper than the housing options comparable at my university. Beds are wider but beware KING SINGLE meaning not many places have this sheet size not at the warehouse either. The gym is mediocre, nice to have a trash shoot and the hallways really should be cleaned more often, still, I've loved living here until this larger issue occurred see below. It is super close to town and has several minimarts within a five min walk as well as a liquor store/bottle shop. Only a ten minute walk to the general library (at least for me some say 15). But then I had a bad experience with one of the employees, one of my friends came to pick me up from my residence and pulled into the car park (there were 4 spaces open) I got in and we were chatting before we would leave. The guy came up very aggressively told us to leave and quite frankly seemed to have been much harsher to my friend because he was black. I was astonished and so ashamed because the employee also happened to be of my nationality. My friend was very politely explained that we would be leaving soon and apologised, he continued sternly to tell us to leave and threatened to call the tow truck... we had a not even a FIVE MINUTE conversation catching up. We were doing nothing wrong minding our own business no alcohol no smoking just chatting in one of four other open spaces in the evening. I have seen Ubers wait there for longer. So disappointed in the blatant form of prejudice and racism, regardless if those were the rules that we can't park it was causing no harm and he should have been far more polite. He loomed over us until we were completely out of the parking lot! I cannot speak from experience if this is a safe place to live if you are not white but I would definitely ask around to make sure it is a safe supportive space before you chose to live someplace in general

True to its name it was the former main railway station of New Zealand before services were moved to the Britomart station. The inside lower floor is just as visually stunning as the outside, with mural like floors and grand staircases. However all this just belies the sham it houses now. It is now used as housing for Auckland University students and shoddy housing it is too. Tiny kitchenettes that lead off to even tinier bedrooms, the most basic bathrooms ever, and a communal cooking and eating area. It's not even that well priced, it should be at clearance level rent. Honestly I feel sorry for anyone who has to live here voluntarily, but the apartment market in Auckland is so tight at the moment it really is needs must. It's such a shame that such a wonderful, historic building is really going to waste.

I first went to Auckland University where I was failing. So I went to AUT where I got all A's for my generic first year classes. This is not because the lecturers were better or anything, but because the work was easier. So yes AUT has a great reputation for being the EASIER university. 2 stars because I did have fun and made friends and all that BS. I also graduated and made good money. But overall the quality of lecturers we got were bad. I remember all my professors at Auckland Uni all being Doctors. We had professors that had diplomas or just bachelors. Shouldn't they all have at least a masters or something to teach us?

Although the room 834 provided only a partial harbor view, we preferred this side over the harbor view to avoid facing the cruise ship directly. The check-in process was smooth and efficient. We arrived before 3 pm and the front desk staff kindly accommodated our request for an early check-in. Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable, though slightly compact. A friend traveling with us got #830, which was marginally larger than ours. It's interesting as I'm a Hilton gold member while my friend isn't but ended up getting a complimentary upgrade. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom featuring both a rainfall shower and a spacious bathtub. We had breakfast at FISH restaurant on Level 1. The dining area offered beautiful harbor views, and the buffet selection was impressive especially fresh fruit (including golden kiwis), smoked salmon, pastrami, and an excellent variety of bread and pastries. Overall, our stay was relaxing and enjoyable, aside from some rooftop noise around 5 am on the first night. When we reserved the room, the Hilton website said the pool would be closed for maintenance until 31 Oct. However it was still closed when we arrived first week of Nov. The pool almost like an infinity one, is one of the reasons I chose this hotel. It's unfortunate that we didn't get to enjoy it.

After reviewing the map of the Auckland central business district (CBD) and where the Sky Tower was, I knew I wanted to stay by the harbor, with a view and reasonably priced. That's when I came across M Social Viaduct Harbor. From Google Maps and looking at YouTube videos, the hotel was in the midst of it all. My first encounter with them was a few weeks earlier when I learned that M Socials last check-in time was midnight. Unfortunately, because my flight was schedule to land at 9:45 pm, having to get through customs and waiting for Uber, we'd be cutting it close. So I emailed M Social and they assured me that we could check-in after midnight, no rush since they knew how long customs could take. What a relief. When we got there, a little after 11 pm, I was told our room was upgraded to the 12th floor which is the highest floor. I was told "The harbor view is great up there." And it is!!! All the rooms face the harbor and all rooms have a view!!! The higher you are the better the view. And when we got to our room, we had a signed card from the employees along with Easter candy because I didn't realize it was Easter weekend when I booked our flights. The room was clean with modern and youthful aesthetic. And the price? I can't believe it is one of the least expensive hotels along the harbor. It was between $129 - $189/night. Of course, Weekends are higher price. And, laundry is free. We just had to pay for laundry detergent. No dryer sheets in Auckland, though. People in NZ said I had an American accent. But they're the ones with accents... lol. Auckland is also a melting pot. The front staff were mainly Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese. So they had their native accent along with the English accent. But everyone was so kind to us. And they have a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night socializing. Although we only had apps and drinks, the food was really good and non-alcoholic drinks were refreshing. As much as I want to gatekeep M Social, I also want to praise the staff members and hope everyone can enjoy your time staying at this wonderful establishment.
