I came in yesterday, 5/3, for a badly needed haircut. I want you to know how impressed I was with Ivy and the teachers who she checked in with. I love my hair, Ivy. I been to many different hairstylists in major cities and this was one of my most positive visits. While there I saw customers being treated with respect no matter the situation. Lots of smiles and laughs both from the customer and the stylist. I went to dinner with several friends last night and received lots of compliments. I just went in for a touch-up of the top of my head and a toner and after 2.5 hours and having my color ruined! I went from the first photo to the next photo! I had a flight that afternoon but was assured I would be out in time! The instructor just said leave toner on until (and I quote) the student said "of s$&t"! Help! Why? Emily was my student. I had such good results with Page who had graduated. So disappointed that she could totally make it look awful. The first photo was exactly one week before! read more

Truly, just one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I have never been to Empire before this, but the person who generally does my nails has been busy recently and I needed to get them done, so I thought I'd give it a try. Bad mistake. I tried calling multiple times this morning to see if they had any availabilities for me to get a gel manicure today. The phone immediately went to voicemail every time I called, so I just showed up. when I showed up, they told me that they could take me as a walk-in and I showed the receptionist my nails asking if they'd be able to fill in my gel manicure. she said yes, but their service was down and they were cash only. I took out $40 in cash for a $15 service to provide a generous tip. I come back with the cash and the receptionist says that the person doing my nails will be with me in just a few short minutes. finally after waiting almost a half hour someone was able to take me. She had me pick out my color and I showed her my nails and I told her I wanted something similar to the color that I currently had on. She said nothing about there being an issue and had me pick a color. She takes me back to the seat, and finally a different woman comes back to help me. she asked me my name and then proceeds to tell me that they're not able to do my gel nails because they cannot take off the current polish I had on. I asked if that meant they couldn't do my nails at all today and she said yes, in not a very nice tone. Just shooed me out the door. No remorse. she didn't offer me any other service or any form of compensation, not even an apology. just "we cannot take off your nail polish and we cannot do your nails at all today" so I got up and left embarrassed and humiliated, tearing up as I walked out. Absolutely horrible. The female instructors are worse than high school students forming clicks with the popular girls and leaving the shy ones behind and not helping, them not building their confidence at all! They completely ruined my healthy hair this past Thursday I spent almost 6 hours in that place and the instructor they call Miss jelly absolutely didn't listen to a thing I said nor did she act like she actually cared and she left before the job was actually done and my hair was not fixed she left it for another instructor to take care of whom had already notified her he did not feel comfortable with corrective color. Had she listen to me in the beginning we would have been done several hours before but because she thought she knew better everything got messed up! I am beyond angry with this company I've never had good luck and I don't know why I was stupid enough to go in there thinking they might know something about color. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! Well maybe my worst enemy especially if it would make them go bald LOL. read more

Went in for a trim, left with hair all over my neck--itchy! They used a trimmer on my neck and it hurt more than usual, and when the cape and paper came off, I saw some blood. Went to pay and leave and one of the instructors was talking about how dumb a customer was as I was standing there (seconds after the customer had walked away). Then the same woman starting bad-mouthing a student. Very unprofessional. Computer system was down and the instructor ignored me when I tried to say that the card machine wasn't working. Overall, you get what you pay for. The lack of courtesy and professionalism was shocking. read more

I went in to try to get a haircut there was a bunch of girls just sitting in the salon seats that the customers would sit in. nobody was doing anything no one greeted me and they refused to cut my hair because I had my child with me. I think it's ridiculous she could've sat there on my phone and not been a problem to anybody. I just think they were lazy and didn't want to work. I think it's discrimination to refuse services because I had my child with me and not everybody can afford day care. Mind you she is 5 years old not a toddler that was going to run with scissors. read more

I had posted a 2 star review because a couple business practices seemed to be problematic here; that review remains below. I provisionally changed it to 3 stars in an update because they asked how to contact me, and that seemed to be a good first step. I decided to keep an eye on the location though, because the owner response seemed usable by employees as an excuse to continue business processes that were a step backward from their previous practice. It has been weeks since I replied to the responder with the best way to contact me, and so far I have not seen useful followup; they did send an alternative method, one that I do not use because of time interruptions etc, to contact them. Worse, a friend checked for me and it appears that the same business problems still remain following the business' response. Reducing the rating only one step back to 2 seems a little generous given the business' lack of following up on the contact info that I gave them. I will drop the rating only one star though on the chance that they could advance further by returning to their former level of service, or at least use the contact information that I provided them to contact me for details. read more

I got my hair highlighted here and I loved it! I had Emily as my stylist and she did an amazing job! It took a while, but that's to be expected with a full foil. She was extremely thorough and was not afraid to ask the instructor questions. I will definitely be returning when my highlights grow out! read more

TERRIBLE!!!! The lady there with short red hair walked up to me and told me I had to leave because my 7 week old that was sleeping in the car seat was a liability. So I had to leave... very rude and unprofessional and then looked at me like I wasn't even a person. Never going back and I would advise any mom to think hard before stepping foot in their. Children are liabilities to them and they told me also that they didn't want to be responsible to watch my child while I was getting my hair done. I DID NOT NOR WOULD I EVER ASK SOMEONE TO WATCH MY CHILD WHILE I GOT MY HAIR DONE. I scheduled it at the time I did because it was her nap time. read more
