I recently moved to NJ from CT. and it was time to find a new barber. I looked up some barber shops and came across Empire State Barbershop. I went in and met Brian, and let me tell you right off the bat, he was an amazing person, and barber. I am really pleased with the haircut I received. I am actually very happy I think I just found my new barber. One thing that really had me was the fact that after the hair cut he gave me an edge up with wet foam, which my previous barber never did, and that was one thing that sold me. Over all, I would high recommend Empire State Barbershop, they have fair prices, and a well experienced, and nice staff! read more

Since I moved back to the area from Kentucky, I've been searching for an old school barber shop that has reasonable prices and does hot towel shaves. Brian and Ennio are true artists, taking time and doing it right. They still use hot lather to trim around your neck and ears, apply witch hazel after and dust with powder. I couldn't resist getting a hot towel straight razor shave. I returned from vacation and hadn't shaved for over a week. Great job, no nicks and cool towel afterward. $15 Haircut, $15 shave. Wondering if they'll allow me to bring in some bourbon to sip while I get my haircut. That would be the icing on the cake. read more

I've been going to Empire for some time now and must say that both Brian and Ennio are great! From getting a good haircut to the friendly service, all in all, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great haircut and friendly atmosphere. This is a nice, clean establishment. He has a check in system that lets you go in and join a waiting list and it will text you 15-20 minutes before you're up so you don't have to wait. Great haircuts, great guy. I just moved to area and was happy to find a great barber on the first try. read more
