Family fun day at the fair. Lots of rides and if you come early, there's like no crowd. The line rides all require tickets, we got a four pack of the unlimited for the kids, regardless you still need to pay general admission of ten dollars. Staff is nice, friendly and courteous. Overall a good time but I'm upset about not finding the turkey legs. They even had pictures of the turkey legs on the site, really a bummer. Funneled cakes were good though. Food is expensive, games all cost separate amounts. Overall you have to spend roughly $250 per family of 5, that doesn't include games, it doesn't seem too different or bigger than the dreamland fair, just more expensive. Thank goodness it's cloudy today, we would have died in the sun.

Took our kids here during their opening weekend and arrived right when they opened @ noon. I took advantage of the online special that they had, it was the Family 4-Pack for $140, which includes 4 unlimited ride wristbands and 4 admission. Parking is free. The best advice is to come when they just open to avoid long lines and extreme heat. There is a large selection of carnival rides, which cater more so to older kids in the above 8 years old/ 48" or taller category. The super cyclone coaster (48"), delusion (54") and dreamcatcher (56") were my favorites. However, there are also smaller kid activities, which include a small animal petting zoo and pony/ camel rides. Like all carnivals, there is the traditional carnival food consisting of turkey legs ($20), candy apples, cotton candy, funnel cakes, shish kebabs, etc. as well as carnival games at an additional cost ($5-$10 per game). They also had stands selling trinkets, bags, sunglasses and one drawing caricature for $25 per person. This is by far the largest and most diverse carnival we have been to, all the workers were friendly & nice. We would definitely return again next year.

Empire State fair at Nassau Coliseum 6/30-7/16/2023. There are 4 dates for firework: 7/2, 7/4, 7/8 and 7/15 at 9:30 pm. We went on 7/8 Saturday 4 pm. Free and easy parking. A friend came at 7 pm stated the parking lot was fun by then and took them 15 min to find parking. We bought unlimited ride bracelet online for $25 before 6/30/23. After that is $35 and $40 on the site. Each rides requires multiple tickets, for example: 3 tickets for Easy kiddie ride or 6 tickets for Ferris wheel. You can buy each ticket for $1.50 or other ticket packages. Admission for anyone over 36 inches height is $10 cash at the door. I'm impressed at every rides was opened and maintained well. All lights work. Sufficient staffing. Free shows included in admission. We watched the World of Wonders show and the circus. World of wonder was a standing show under a small tent. No air conditioning and it was hot and humid. Tricks like sword swallowing, needles swallowing, 'decapitaton' and others performed. Don't expect much. Entertained enough for the young ones. On the other hand, the circus was a much bigger show under a big tent. Only seated audience allowed. No standing allowed. Go early since they allow free admission 15 min before the show. They roped it off when it's full inside. The circus was ok. No air conditioning and it's hot and humid also. Acts include clown, motorcycle, Mexican roping on a horse, doggie tricks, trampoline etc. it's ok. My kids find it boring they said. Popcorn inside $10 and icee $5. Each show lasts about 30-40 min. Petting zoo: free to go in. They sell food range from $3-6. Or 2 large cups for $10. Animals were hungry and willing to eat. Parakeet feeding $3 : you get a feeding stick and feed them in an enclosed cage. Camel and pony ride etc. I think it's $10 Mechanical bull riding Caricatures drawing. Firework was ok. We were busy with rides and didn't pay much attention. Food is expensive as expected. Of cos there will be overpricing booth games. We got a stuff animal from a crane machine after putting in $10. The night ended at 11 pm when it closed. There was still a lot of people there, especially at the food line. I'm glad we got there at 4 pm for rides and shows and avoided long lines at that time. Lines were long for rides as it gets later into the night. Overall we had tons of fun. If your child is under 48 inches height, most likely you have to go on a few rides with the child. Then buy an unlimited rides bracelet for yourself. Buy early like me and save. Glad the weather worked out for firework. I heard one of the previous firework show was cancelled due to rain. Lastly, bring tons of cash. Food booths took credit too but charges more. Game booths of course cash only.
