Very kid friendly very imaginative we were able to go to the von Courtland Manor and enjoy a cocktail with our VIP access... we loved hearing a little bit about the history of the manner This is a nonprofit event . Came here on a weekday night. This place is a must go if you've ever wanna walk through a glowing galaxy made out of pumpkins. The Pumpkin Blaze is magical and spooky. Each pumpkin display features hand carved designs that turn the night into art. Large crowds are present, but the experience is worth it. The night views of the pumpkins' displays are amazing, full of Fall magic. Pro tip: Go on weekdays to avoid long lines as it's less crowded. I recommend you to bring a jacket since it can get chilly at night. read more

I've been wanting to come to The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze for years, and as I finally got the opportunity to see it, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Getting there by car was not straight-forward, as the address indicated on the tickets got us to the exit, and there were no signs indicating where the entrance is. Luckily there was a police car there and the officer was able to put us in the right direction, as the main entrance is actually a couple of miles away. The whole show is very well done, and the path follows a certain narrative with frequent nods to local things such as celebrities, haunted houses, cursed families, etc... All the carvings are made by hand, and there are more than 7,000 hand-carved jack o'lanterns. The main issue for me is that most of them are not actually real pumpkins; they are made of plastic. If you read in the FAQs section on their webpage, it says "Many are real and some are Funkin "art pumpkins." But every single jack o'lantern is individually hand-carved on site by our team." Maybe I was a bit naïve in expecting that the pumpkins would be real ones, but let's face it: "Hand-carved on plastic" just doesn't sound the same as "hand-carved on real pumpkins". Mostly a fun activity if you live in the area, but if you have to travel, I am not sure it is worth the time and $54 per ticket. For us it was one-and-done. read more

Great time at the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze in Long Island in October 2024. We arrived shortly before our 6pm ticketed time. There were lots of staff directing people where to park which was very convenient. After parking we entered the main area where they sold a few lit wands and staves for about $12 if desired. Tickets were scanned there and we proceeded to the main attraction entrance. We were given the option to wait a bit before starting our walkthrough as it wasn't as dark yet (6:05pm). There is a small food vendor there selling some snacks as well as beer. As you make your way through the attraction, there were lots of interesting and creative exhibits, all tied to Long Island's history. I appreciate that they took the time to make that connection as opposed to simply making random exhibits for display. Not only did we get to see some amazing designs...but learned a few facts along the way. There were some smaller exhibits but also some larger ones like the spider-web and pumpkin tunnel, both great for photos. Halfway through the walk, there was a shop which some souvenirs...typical things you'd expect from a souvenir shop. Overall the walkthrough was bigger than I expected. we really enjoyed it...though not sure if we'd return, as they would likely re-use the same exhibits every year. (Apologies if I am wrong) This would be good to look into before returning in the following years. All staff, from the parking directors, to shop vendors and others scattered around the walkthrough, were extremely nice and helpful. Big kudos to them! I highly recommend this attraction, especially if you haven't gone before. There are a few discounted nights ... be sure to check their website. Traveled from the Bronx to get here to enjoy some fall/halloween fun. It was a group of 6 of us and we had a great time walking through and seeing all the displays. There's plenty of parking and there's a small shop there. Very family friendly. It is a lot of walking but it's beautiful in this area I have 2 cons for this location. First, it's not easy to locate on the gps we went to the wrong entrance and had to ask friends to send us their location bc the same thing happened to them and they had to ask around about how to get there. There needs to be more signs. Secondly, there were so many porter potties and it was so dark you can see inside them to use the restroom. I had to use the flashlight from my cell phone. We went tonight-lucky enough to buy tickets last minute. I was nervous about buying tickets to far in advance as every weekend has rained lately. So when I saw todays weather-I bought the tickets. We went to 6:30 entry and it was great! Not crazy busy and we could walk at our own pace and se everything. When I have gone in the past, I feel rushed and with the crowds it was hard to see everything, but we didnt experience that tonight at all. The displays were all amazing and such a great variety!! You really have to take your time to look because there are so many hidden gems through each display. I couldnt pick a favorite because they were all beautiful and fun and creative to look at. The amount of work that goes into this-is astounding!! We spent over an hour walking around...I had to tell my husband to slow down!! Lol The only reason I didnt give 5 stars-is the cost. For three adults and two kids-it was over $170...that is pricey!! But I am learning to accept the fact nothing is ever getting cheaper-only more expensive. And this was a fun experience to have with my kids and mother who flew in from out of town for a visit. read more

Gorgeous. I recommend 9pm it's a smaller crowd. Clean and well organized there's also staff in every installation to ensure client safety and pumpkins are not touched. Don't come hungry maybe get a hot chocolate. Not a lot of walking but come comfortable (jacket, sweater, boots) its chilly at this time slot but the best viewing. I will come back. read more

Great for photos. An enjoyable experience despite the rain. There was someone who stood at the front entrance and scanned everyone's tickets from inside of the car. Parking was not impossible. I went with a few friends, but for the 6 of us to go was nearly $300. It was nice, but the price was pretty steep. It was drizzling when we went (this is a rain or shine event) The whole walk took about 45 minutes because there were groups in front and right behind us. There was also a lot of event staff trying to keep everyone socially distant. There were two people standing by the one section with lots of pumpkins. I particularly enjoyed the light house display and the one with the starry sky. It makes a great phone background. If prices are more fair next year, we will be back! read more

Hopefully my review isn't too belated for my fellow Yelpers, but I gotta get those good Halloween feels out there while there's still a wee bit of time left in this spooky season. What am I blabbering on about? BLAZE! No, not the Blaze located up in the Hudson Valley by the Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown area, but a Blaze found in Old Bethpage Village. This year, perhaps due to travel issues and quarantining and all that "fun" stuff, Blaze brought its spectacular show down to this lengthy island. About a week and a half ago, myself, my girlfriend, and our families joined forces to experience the incredibleness that is Blaze. Now at this point if you're like "what in blazes is Blaze?", well it's very similar to Rise of the Jack O' Lanterns that has been located (though not this year) at Old Westbury Gardens. You see, it's all about the pumpkins, and both events do that wonderfully, but Blaze is at another level of lantern loveliness. The combinations and variations of pumpkins that are put together to create different items and sculptures are incredible. Yeah, some of the pumpkins are "funkins", but you still gotta respect a giant lighthouse made out of this stuff. Plus, there are regular carved pumpkins all over the place (literally, they're in the trees!). It's a sight to see for sure... Perhaps, this is a sight to see for only this year. With Rise not taking place, Long Island Blaze might be a one and done experience. I hope not because the local feel incorporated into some of the carvings (there was a Jaws poster made of pumpkins!) was amazingly cool. It was also nice to see some relatively consistent attempts to keep groups distanced. Masks had to be worn at all times and employees were spaced throughout the Blaze trail. Nothing is airtight when it comes to constantly staying six feet apart, but organizationally I'll give Blaze an "A-" for effort. Overall, Blaze is a sight that must be seen and experienced. It's worth the price (despite some other review on here) and hey, there's not a ton of other things to safely do right now during this fall season (or what's left of it), so if you can still score some tickets, go Blaze out at Old Bethpage Village and enjoy something before it disappears! Also my apologies if this review reaches you without a chance to buy tickets in time. Keep those fingers crossed it comes back from the dead next year (har har). read more

Displays are very nice and the Knick knacks and food stands are all affordable! We got cute light up pumpkin necklaces and hot cider while we walked and enjoyed the scenery. I guess that makes up for the expensive admission. The designs of the pumpkins are cool, but at the same time, a lot of it looked like plastic. And nothing was very interactive. If you're not stopping and taking pictures or really appreciating each structure for more than a few minutes, you get to the end pretty quickly. A good fall activity but definitely a one time thing for me. read more

What an awesome adventure for kids of all ages! Well thought out pathways with hundreds or thousands of carved pumpkins lit up from inside. You must buy your tickets in advance ($40 for big kids, $35 for little kids) so make sure you do that before showing up. Parking is a snap and there is a throng of people working to make sure you get to the easiest and perfect spot. Tickets are also sold by entrance times to allow for a better flow of people through the exhibit. There are flashing and strobing lights with music and sound effects throughout to fill your senses. Expect to spend about 45 minutes getting through with toddlers. Money well spent and and future planning for next year already! read more

This place, quite simply, ruined our Halloween. The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze is neither great, nor has actual jack o'lanterns. You heard right. I paid $96 to spend more time waiting in the PARKING LOT than walking through this actual "exhibit" filled with PLASTIC pumpkins. Of which, 90% were just regular old jack o'lanterns lit up with LEDs! Even the gift shop was just a single dinky stand with half the items sold out (they blamed it on a missed shipment). I can't a recall a time in recent memory in which I've felt so ripped off. Wait for Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns to come back. This side show deserves absolutely zero of your time or money. read more

Such a cool experience! I've gone the past 4 years and I always really enjoy it. I've gone with family, friends, and for date night.. it's definitely a fun time for any occasion! This year they changed some things up and I loved the improvements! There were some different themes and designs, as well as a truck where you can get snacks, drinks, and even hot apple cider in the beginning of the trail. It was so nice to sip on cider on a chilly night while walking through. I'm always so impressed by the creativity and the talent that goes into this event. Highly recommend for all! read more

A super cute place to go with your family, friends, or even a date night! You do walk through dirt so I wouldn't recommend wearing fancy shoes when going there! Everyone there is super friendly, if you arrive late to your time slot it's okay because they aren't keeping track since there's still a line when arriving. You can see how talented the people are by looking at the mini exhibitions of different categories of carved pumpkins as you walk around! BRING CASH! You have to purchase tickets online for the experience, but it is absolutely worth it! There are over 7,000 carved pumpkins throughout the land on which this takes place! I wish I could give more stars! It was absolutely amazing!! The employees were so nice and accommodating especially when it comes to people with handicap passes, walkers and service dogs. My mother was nervous but the employees helped whenever they could to make sure she didn't get hurt and have a great time! The employees were also very respectful of my sister's service dog. The pumpkin designs were out of this world and I love how they incorporated the houses and barns on the display. Absolutely beautiful! It's definitely worth the money! One tip!! So glad my family and I were able to do some outside fall activity at the Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze, at Old Bethpage Village Restoration in Old Bethpage. These are the same folks as the Blaze up in the Hudson Valley - not the same operation as the Rise of the Jack O' Lanterns at Old Westbury Gardens. Considering that the Long Island Fair didn't happen this year, and the Rise was cancelled, I feel like Blaze at OBVR might be a one-off. I don't know that they'd be able to pull it off so soon after the LI Fair (if the fair wasn't cancelled), and I don't know that they'd want to compete with the Rise so close by (if the Rise wasn't cancelled). My point? If I were you, I'd go *this year* to check it out, I'd be surprised if it happened again net year (God willing we're not still in this COVID mess in October 2021!) Who knows, if the Blaze does really well, maybe we'll have two pumpkin shows to choose from next year? Anyway, there's plenty of parking, and organization is tight. Lots of staffing, and sanitizer. Reminders to socially distance, which happened, maybe half the time. To be fair, lots of family groups, who obvi didn't need to distance from each other. Masks on everyone. But if you're not wearing a mask with people close by, GTFO. I was glad to see that masks were not a problem, everyone was on board. Paths were wide, and staff reminded people to stand aside if taking photos, so traffic would flow. Pumpkins looked cool as ever. More live pumpkins than I remember, with real candles. Some paths were lit with real candles in lanterns, that was pretty. LED lighting made all the colors pop more than I remember - the historic barns and houses looked awesome. The whole show was well designed, with good effects and sound. Small details were not missed. Really, a sharp show, I can usually find a bone to pick and I found none. I especially liked the contextual signage, talking about local LI history. The role of OBVR was not forgotten - it was not just a venue to do a thing, education and information played a major role. As a teacher and a parent, I noticed and appreciated the effort. I also learned something - around roughly the Nassau-Suffolk county line, imperial control split - west was Dutch, east was English. TIL! I don't know if there were any concessions, I didn't see any. May be COVID related. We also don't need people selling crappy toys. Mediocre food, well ... maybe lol. But I didn't see any. I did see porta-potties, they had a bunch, near the entrance. The whole thing sounds perfect, why four stars? Good grief it was not cheap. But you know, I'm finding that no events like these are. It's COVID times, there are few opportunities to make (and spend!) money. I only hope that the County and/or OBVR got a good cut. Blaze can make money of course, that's what businesses do, but windfalls will have to wait. Anyway, I'd say this event was worth the money to see at least once. You should, too! read more

What a disappointment! All of the large displays are FAKE pumpkins! The real jack o lantern carvings are on the ground and mostly simple. So many fake pumpkins!! The show in Westbury- which they didn't have this year because of Covid- was amazing! It had beautiful displays of amazing carved REAL pumpkins. It was OK. I've travelled just a bit further to Jersey last year for HauntOWeen and that was much better. This was about 35 minutes (if you walk really slowly) of just lit up pumpkins. Very interesting ones and beautiful ones, but not worth $39 per person in my opinion. My group paid about $160 and were left disappointed. Food and drinks were donuts, popcorn, hot chocolate or beer. Not very selective. While the artwork was beautiful, they could include more interaction. HauntOWeen in Jersey for example, also had hundreds and thousands of cool display pumpkins. However they also included trick or treating at different "themed doors" during the walk. They included fun games to win extra candy and even carnival games and bouncy houses. Food had many options such as American fare funnel cakes and hot dogs and Halloween themed eats as well as Mexican food and drinks. They let you pick a pumpkin to go home with too. I suggest Blaze to incorporate some of that next year. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! These people are just out for the money and they are heartless. They do not care about your children or anyone getting value or enjoyment for their money. They don't care about disappointing you or your children. My wife, AUTISTIC son and I had tickets for Oct 1st but unfortunately we all got covid , I went to the hospital . we are all fine now. We called the number to explain our situation and get a new date and the women on the phone was simply heartless. She said we cannot recover the money from your lost time slot. I told her we were flexible to fit in whenever they we not full but she wouldn't here of it. She said I should have called her earlier when we first got covid. Really? "Honey,I got Covid" "Oh call the pumpkin co right away" Ridiculous !! She then said she couldn't talk to me she had to talk to my autistic son. I put him on the line reluctantly and the heartless women coldly told him the same thing. How can an event so oriented to having fun and bringing joy to its visitors deny my autistic son and take our 100 dollars for nothing! I suggest you go to Westbury Gardens instead and leave these people to their own selfish ways. I do not do reviews normally and it took me 10 minutes to figure how to sign on to this one but I am so angry how they handled this and how they made my son feel. Shame on you Blaze! I love pumpkins. I love Halloween. However, I thought that this was a ripoff. We spent $48.00 each to walk through a display that took about 25 minutes to walk through. Not going back to see the same fake pumpkins assembled again next year. read more
