It's very convenient to take in a movie at the Roosevelt Field mall at this AMC, but it is inconvenient if you are shopping. The theater is attached to the mall, but there is no inside entrance, so you'll have to go outside in the cold to reenter the lobby from the parking lot. There is plenty of parking, however. With 8 separate theaters, you're bound to find a movie genre you'll like from action/adventures to rom-coms. Being an AMC Stubs Rewards member has good benefits, though. You can buy your tickets on the app with processing fees waived and matinée tickets (usually before 2pm) are discounted 20%. Plus you get 5% rebate reward to use for future movies. You also get free popcorn refills and a free drink in your birthday month. The annual fee is $5, but I recoup that after seeing one movie. Yes, you are locked into one theater chain, but they are national and always showing big studio blockbuster movies, as well as some short run art house or anime movies. For a recent outing, we saw "Avatar: Fire & Ash" at the first morning showing at 9am. We split a large popcorn bucket and I got my large birthday soda. During the previews, I ran back out to refill the popcorn because it was going to be a long 3.25 hr movie. The soda may have been a mistake, as it was 3.25 hrs until the next rest room break. ::squirm:: Pro Tip: Before or after the movie, we usually like to go grab a bite at the mall food court or at one of the many restaurants on the mall perimeter or along Old Country Rd. read more

I came here for the first time to watch a movie because other movie theatres didn't have the best time fit for our schedule. I was told by others that they prefer a different one, although the popcorn here is delicious so I was curious to see why. The theatre looked modern and clean at first when we walked in, and guest services are on the left side of the entrance where you get your tickets scanned. Getting food was quick and easy at the concessions counter, and we were able to manually put how much butter we wanted and additional toppings like salt were also on the side. The soda machine selection was a big amount with caffeine-free, sugar free options as well, and there are some slushees to grab too. However, the inside of the theatre room surprised me as the room was flat and not set up stadium seating style. Our chairs were near the last row and my seat had many rips and tears on the texture of the arm rests. The quality of the recliners were old and also uncomfortable, which was another surprise. Since we were near the back row, we could hear the other movie nearby playing loudly while our movie had some quiet parts. The screen also wasn't filled in fully by the projector, so the movie seemed small the whole time. Definitely was not worth watching a movie at night here, especially with the expensive price of $22 a ticket for an adult!! read more

First time visit. Easy spacious parking. Next to the mall. Ticket staff was friendly. Concession staff so so. They didn't have the new Godzilla merchandise displayed. ( today is first day showing). We have to ask and stuff brought it from the back room. They were still displaying Kung fu panda merchandises which has been showing for 2 weeks already. Four Self serve Coca Cola touch screen soda machine. One wasn't working. One was calibrating. Out of the two working ones, one ran out of ice but you can get soda. The soda area was sticky and wasn't clean frequently. One of the 2 slush machines doesn't work. One of the 3 flavors of the working machine shows service light. So only 2 slush flavors to choose from: Coca Cola or cherry. Seats are comfortable. No complain. Inside the theater was little dated. Bathroom was clean. Everything works. Overall, experience was ok. It won't be my top choice but will go there if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

I went to see the Mean Girls movie today with my sister and goddaughter. The movie was definitely different from the original because there were a different variety of characters. Also it was a musical. I enjoyed the remake and the merchandise is pretty. We all wore pink to go see the movie. It was a good remake and it was nice to see some of the original actors/actresses from the first film. read more

I watched Thunderbolts yesterday and saw little mice running around row e. It was pretty spooky. It was the 7 P.M. show, and towards the end of the movie we noticed mice running across this row that we were sitting in. I promptly left the theater. This is not my first time noticing it either. I also saw Mice a few months ago the last time we watched a movie at this location. My husband told the staff about the mice there and since then we've seen mice again. I believe that this is not a stand alone issue. read more

This isn't my favorite nor closest movie theater but it's decent & convenient since it's right next to the mall and restaurants with plenty of parking. This AMC is actually smaller than the other ones I've been to. Last movie I saw here was Frozen 2. I always get my tickets in advance on Fandango and they have reserved seating. The reclining seats were the best part as well as the movie I was watching but unfortunately, their oven was broken today so I only had the choice of popcorn, hot dogs, curly fries or nachos with salsa. I really wanted pretzel bites with cheese :( I ended up getting a large bucket of popcorn and soda with unlimited refills. The theater wasn't the cleanest either, the slushie from the machine was watery, the dispensers were out of napkins and with a dozen ppl waiting in the concession line, there were only 1 person taking orders. On a Saturday past noon, I would expect more staff around. Hopefully it'll be a better experience the next time I return. read more

This was truly an appalling experience. We drove all the way to this theatre to see a 17+ movie, all of us were 17. However, we didn't bring our licenses and one of the employees, Larry, did not allow us in. We responded in a respectful manner, however we got screamed out for sitting as they told us to and of course when it is 7 degrees outside he threatened to kick us out. 17 year old girls in a dangerous area at night. The woman at the counter, however was lovely and tried to help us and the other group of girls having the same issues. When I had tried to speak to the other group of girls, he threatened to send us outside and then started laughing at us to the other male employee. When finally, we were able to get a guardian to watch the movie with us, we went to get food to be prepared for when they would come, and we got screamed at again. Even going to the restroom was an issue with this man. We finally got in and enjoyed our movie, but I will never forget the disgusting behavior of Larry towards teenage girls. read more

This place has rats! I was watching the Mission Impossible movie and saw one run past my feet. Disgusting. The managers are rude and racist. I saw one of the managers kick out a family after they had a verbal altercation with another guest. Previously I saw this guest hit the man from that family and yell at him. When the guy confronted him, he went and got the manager and the manager kicked them out without hearing them out. My husband and I and few other guests tried to tell him that the other guest started it but he didn't listen and he kicked them out. The family was black and the guest was white. He even called the cops on them. I don't think I will be going back there again, I don't want to be on the recieving end of that kind of treatment one day. read more

The staff here has always been great. I usually go on movie discount tuesdays. Before covid it was so busy but now it's quiet and spaced out and more pleasant. The theaters are super clean, even before covid, but especially now. The movie availability right now starts later on most days besides tuesdays. But if you go before 4pm daily there's usually a 20%-30% discount. If you use the app, which i highly suggest, it makes everything super hassle free for both yourself and the limited staff. I always use the app so i walk right in, scan my code in the front, grab my preordered movie snacks and head straight to my seat. read more

This theater is a zoo and needs to be revamped. The counter is understaffed and the check in desk just doesn't care. They make mistakes move theaters oversell seats and don't inform the customers. The counter is dirty and the staff needs more help. I don't recommend this theater and don't see myself returning anytime soon. read more

I purchased tickets, with assigned seats, in November for the Color Purple to be seen on Christmas Day, 12 pm show. Upon our arrival to sit at our selected seats, there were other people sitting there. Upon checking their ticket stubs, their stubs had our assigned seats on it. We went to guest services and was told all though I purchased my tickets in advance (November), all they could do is offer ME a refund. The folks who purchased their tickets on the day of the show were able to stay!?!?!?! This was totally unacceptable, not to mention there were at least 10 other people with the same issue. I demanded a refund for the food purchased, in addition to the movie tickets purchased. They additionally gave me four passes, big deal. We wanted to see the movie. I'll pass on AMC at Roosevelt Field. I'll stick with Rockville Center! read more

My buddies would tell you Roosevelt Field is not the place to see movies. And you know what? Back in the day I would agree, 100%. You see, Roosevelt Field 8 used to be a real (how do I put this lightly) hell hole. The theaters, the seats, the concessions. It was like having a lead role in a horror film (which was kind of a 4-D experience if you were actually seeing a scary movie there). Nowadays, it's the complete opposite...sort of. I'll say without a shadow of a doubt the place has greatly improved aesthetically. Things resemble cleanliness and contemporary style. Compare it to what it was (and what the Raceway is now) and you're talking about a true turnaround in cinema experiences at the mall. I can even add a few positive new features like the row of Coca-Cola Freestyle machines and the reserved/reclining seats. I do like the ones at Roosevelt Field as you can get two seats next to each other, lift the middle cup holder divider, and snuggle up with...well hopefully you know the person (for me it's gonna be my lady, of course). The screen size and audio are also respectable and rounds out a pleasant time at the movies. Despite this, there are a few issues that still float around about the place. Entering, there's really not much room to stand if you happen to be buying tickets. The bathrooms continue with that room problemo by being pretty small for a movie theater (pro tip: go upstairs and you'll find a bigger and less-used one than the b-room in the lobby). And within most theaters, the setup is totally fine, but on my last visit, I sat in an upper section of seats that, when reclining, the lower portion of the screen was blocked. What's up with that? Those factors aside, Roosevelt Field works for me. Overall, I'll give Roosevelt Field 8 it's dues and round a 3.5 feeling to 4. There's plenty to like about the place even if it's not the best theater around (it definitely ain't the worst). Truly, if you ever came here as a kid you'll shed a tear of joy to see the place and how it looks today. Now if only I could make that happen with my chums so we could have more movie time options... read more

I am constant movie goer of Roosevelt field theaters for 4 years now. But today I saw racism at its finest, my family i were calmly watching the mission impossible movie when my phone vibrated, I was expecting a very important notification, I discretely pull out my phone to look at it and put it right back in my pocket. When I felt two hard tap at my back and a white guest yells at me "put your fucking phone away". I was confused at, who he was talking to because I only looked at it briefly and put it back in my pocket. I told him "who are you talking to i just looked at phone briefly and put in my pocket". After our back and fought, he stood up as if he wanted to fight me but instead he went to a manager and complained that I was threatening him even though he started the whole conflict. I quietly sat back down and continued to watch the movie. Then after 5 minutes, the manager Sam Rappold came into the theater and told me that I would have to leave without here me out about the situation and threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. I was very angry that he didn't even ask me what happened or even ask to speak with me outside about the situation. When the manager was asked what the guest said he just said the guest felt threatened by me a black male but I'm not surprised. The other supervisor Aladen gulmohamd was told about the situation and decided to do nothing as well. So for those who go there if your black just know that management is very racist and will not hear your concerns so beware. read more

Big theater space for major motion pictures. Bigger crowd, larger population. The space is clean, the recliners are cozy. I always dose off while in those chairs. They are so very comfortable. No broken recliners, as far as I know. The bathrooms are decent. The food is salty processed food as usual. I don't eat there. read more

The overall facilities were fine but the sound on Dumb Money was pretty bad, had a hard time hearing the film. This was the case at another AMC when seeing Spider-man across the spider verse. Not sure if it's something affecting the movie or a theater sound issue, but it sucked. read more

My second time coming to AMC Roosevelt Field 8 and I must say I like the renovations that they did! It went from having no recliners to black with red stitch reclining chairs. My lovely partner in crime and I came here for a early showing so it wasn't so busy in there. I like the way they set it up, only down fall I can say about this place is once people decline there is no walking space to walk through. Also if you do come during the day in the afternoon it can be very crowded but that goes without saying since this movie is in a popular area. read more

I've visited this theatre on quite a few occasions. With the exception of Bayside Bayview AMC, I don't like the AMC theaters in Queens. All new releases are showing at Roosevelt Field and this location is a easy 20 minute ride from Queens. This is a newly renovated theatre with reclining seats and that's the major selling point. This theater is small in comparison to Levittown. If you arrive late, you will have a hard time finding your seat because the aisles don't light up and they don't have the lettered carpet like Levittown. If you wear glasses, you can forget it. You might as well wait until the screen brightens up to find your seat. The concession stand is always jam packed and there are not enough food service workers to serve the high volume of customers. The parking lot is shared with the patrons from the neighboring restaurants and mall goers. This is annoying. On a holiday or Weekend, I would advise you park in the mall parking garage. In April I visited while on a date to see "Us"and my date's seat was broken. We were able to move to another seat luckily with less people in the theatre but the arms did not flip up. Highly uncomfortable. Today I'm here for a matinee and my daughter's chair is broken this time ! The remote on the recline is not functional! I had to give my daughter my seat. This is a joke now and I'm not coming back. They should be able to test their chairs to make sure customers are getting what they paid for. Being uncomfortable for over an hour is not worth the money. I might as well watch a bootleg at home ! read more

I tried a new theater w/ my son and it was ok. I honestly feel it's a good adult date night theater. There isn't any games for kids. Expensive fancy concession stand. Flat bread pizza and gourmet popcorn? I love the movie going experience but at what point is it to much. Maybe this theater is upscale?. The seating is typical modern day reclining recliners. 5 star without a doubt. The upgrades done to this location are fantastic! We came last week for the 1st time since they've added the new recliner chairs and branded decor and it looks great! We ended up booking/watching 3 movies in one day silence they all aligned in start time. The lines moved a little slow but there were lots of people on a Saturday afternoon. It really didnt matter simply because the staff was super friendly and the concessions were fresh and tasty. Everything was great, we enjoyed ourselves and it was well worth the drive out to the Island. We will be back! read more

AMC Roosevelt Field 8 has recently reopened and it is born again hard! The mechanized recliners, a wall of Coke-a-nators (They call them "freestyle", I like to name them after the Terminator) machines and everything shiny new makes this the standard in movie going. Upon arrival the ticket counter has self service machines to pay for tickets, or to pick up a Fandango order with an employee there to help move things along. Although I didn't get any snacks or drinks because I went to such an early weekday show (10am Wednesday) it was nice to see a full line of drink refill machines and other reviews stated they have a good snack selection. The quality of the movie theater (where you see the movie) is what really floats my boat. Seeing a show in theater 1 (Star Wars in 3D) and having full on recliners that move positions electronically at a touch of button is just the tops! No people pressing against you sharing an armrest, no one kicking your chair from behind, no trouble seeing pass the people in front because everyone will be reclined, but ready for take off! I swear there is some serious acoustic alchemy going on here because during the previews you could hear a bunch of kids talking when there was no sound at all, but once any audio was playing you could not hear a peep. Even when it was quiet you can tell something was muffling the sound. The audio quality was top notch and I swear these are rumble seats because I was feeling those explosions and crashes throughout my body. A couple of caveats - the bathrooms here are small! I could almost hear someone at the renovation meeting stating "why do we need a lot of stalls in the bathroom - we will just drive shoppers into the mall where there are plenty". Although the theater is shiny and new, the workers are the same, indifferent teenagers that can't be bothered to pass you the water bottle you just ordered, stock the bathroom with soap and paper towels, etc.. AMC have set a new standard in movie going where I will not go to another theater without all the amenities this one offers - and why should I when it is close to my house and ticket prices are comparable to most other theaters. I know I stated in a prior review for another theater that I only go to movies once a year, on black friday, but AMC may have just changed the game on me! Netflix and chill.. so 2015! read more

GET THE AMC STUBS REWARD CARD! I can't stress this enough, when you spend $100 bucks, they'll credit back your AMC card with cash to use for a ticket or at the concession stand. Man, I love rewards money. Not like golden calf worship money but saving money with coupons and rewards. Using the AMC Stubs card, you can get tickets online without paying a fee. There ya go boyee! I walk into Roosevelt Field 8 and I'm faced with a bunch of self service machines. I'm here to see Captain America. In 3D baby! I want the full experience, 3D with reclining leather seats and eating popcorn. Walking up to the counterperson, I tell him 3D me please. He then turns the monitor and says pick a seat. There are stickers all over the monitor in bold letters, THIS IS NOT A TOUCHSCREEN. Guess what I did? Haha! Hey, I'm half way to 90! I walk to the counter. Lots of choices but I know what I want, hot movie popcorn. I give them my AMC stubs card. If I want a medium, I pay for a small and they upgrade you for free. Its a great benefit getting the larger bag but the small popcorn bag cost almost $8 bucks?! I walk by a wall of soda machines, It's the new fancy machines where they offer 20 different flavors of coke, etc. I don't drink soda but if you do, you'll be in soda heaven. Once inside, its a movie goers dream. Large leather seating with plenty of room to curl up in watch a great movie. If I had a blanket, I'd take off my pants along with my movie popcorn for the full home theatre experience. I'm not into going to jail so I keep my pants on. The movie starts, is there audio sounds coming thru the head rests?? Now that is something Captain America would be proud of. Amazing! The Cinema at AMC Roosevelt Field 8 has been reopened, they spent a lot of money and it was well worth it. This theater needed such an overhaul, and it finally got one it deserved. The basic layout is fairly similar, at least in the lobby and the theaters on the right, the left side has been opened up more. The first movie I saw in this was Star Wars n 3D, and what a great experience when your legs are kicked up on a recliners and you don't feel squished. Plus, if someone is taller then you (like everyone else is to me) they won't block your view. The bathroom in the lobby was quite small, with I think 3 or 4 stalls, but the faucets were so cool and I could probably just be in there playing with the faucets for five minutes. The hand dryers are attached to the faucet.You don't need to walk with hands dripping and wait for a hand dryer or towel, it's right there where you just washed your hands. Ah, technology! This was also my first time seeing a movie in a reclining seat. I must have looked like an idiot leaning back several times to try and get it to recline, then realizing there is a button on the side. The theater is reminiscent of theaters in the city, where they are built up. The picture quality was gorgeous on the screen and the sound didn't get too pitchy or get static when the music or sound effects flared. I will definitely be going here more. I can't wait to next play with the fun soda machines. read more

So they renovated this theatre a few years ago to bring it up to par alongside the other renovated AMC theatres in the area. The outside has looked fantastic since the work completed so we decided since we were shopping anyway let's go in and catch a movie since we usually use the AMC in Levittown. The inside. Every machine where you can buy tickets on your own was out of order. They had one person working at the register which resulted in a long time to buy tickets. We had already bought our tix so no worries there. We went to walk in to grab a soda before the movie but notice nobody was scanning tickets. So we slowly proceeded into the theatre before the one person at the register asked for tickets. She proceeded to sigh heavily like us actually pre-purchasing tickets and her having to scan my phone was such a travesty. Regardless, she scanned them and we went on our way. Concessions was fine. Overpriced like any other theatre but fine. Coca-Cola machines, plenty to choose from, the only tops for cups were the ones made for the Icee machine. Our theatre was smaller than what it looked like when we selected tickets online but it got the job done. Audio and visual were fine. Only annoyance was the same three kids kept running back and forth up and down the aisles the entire length of the film. Layout of this entire place is odd. Two theatres by themselves on a sub-level while the other theatres are accessible by two different directions from the main floor. One bathroom (or at least that's all we saw). No bar like AMC Levittown (unless we just didn't notice it). Still a long line to buy tickets when we were leaving since I guess nobody else showed up to work...On a Saturday afternoon, mind you. This place got a facelift but nothing to go along with it. Keeping my review at three stars since the movies themselves are fine. They just need more staff and to make more sense of the layout. read more

The recliner seating is just top notch compared to other location's of AMC. Unlike the ones where you're reclined at a weird angle that folds your body, this one you can almost lay flat very comfortably. The seating is also stacked in a way that gives you a lot of privacy from the row above you. The angle to see the big screen was great. We didn't order popcorns or drinks so can't comment on that but the sound system can definitely be improved. read more
