I paid the $100 deposit (confirmed it would go toward the total) and later sent the remaining $400. * January 31 - Original appointment canceled due to illness. We were understanding. * February 2 - Rescheduled for Saturday the 14th at 9:00am. We confirmed immediately. * February 14 at 9:00am - My daughter arrived early. The shop was closed. No message. No call. We didn't hear anything for two hours. After already rescheduling once, this was incredibly disappointing. When she was finally seen later that day, there was sudden confusion about size and placement -- despite the design already being quoted at $500. Comments were made that $500 would not cover a half sleeve. Bringing up price uncertainty the day of the appointment, after full payment, is unacceptable. When I called to address it, the response was defensive rather than accountable. We were told to "leave whatever review you want." My daughter received a refund, but it was handled in a way that felt dismissive and unprofessional. He emphasized his 35 years in business, yet also stated it's nearly impossible to keep up with who paid what or maintain scheduling because he communicates across multiple platforms. That contradiction speaks for itself. Illness happens. Mistakes happen. But confirmed appointments, clear communication, and standing by quoted pricing are basic professional standards -- especially for something permanent. This experience lacked reliability, communication, and respect. I would not recommend. Claiming "I lost my mind on the phone" is ridiculous for the treatment I received being a FULLY paid customer. If you want to risk reschedules and poor communication go ahead and deal with him. Waste of time and aura. 1star because you need it to post the review. I am someone who has to put my headphones and watch TV to help keep my mind off the pain and not move so much. Joe respects my coping measures and checks in with me occasionally to ensure I am doing ok. The other artists in the shop are friendly when a walk in client arrives. I had an idea for a tattoo that represents my mom and decided that I should try her out, tell her my ideas, and see if I could book a future appointment. I went on Wednesday and asked for Nichole. It was her day off so I talked to the other artist (and I believe shop owner) Nelson. We talked about my idea for the tattoo, and how I was still thinking about placement. I have over 50 hours of work that's covered easily by clothes. I was thinking about placing it in a place that would be hard to cover and he said that he didn't think that was a good idea. We talked about placement ideas in regards to my other tattoos, and my ideas for future work in general. After talking to him for about 30 minutes and looking over his work I was completely sold. This guy is as legit as they come! He had an appointment available later in the day, and I was open so we decided there was no time like the present for a new piece of artwork. When I arrived at 3pm everything was set up and ready to go. 70s rock was playing (of course) and before starting he made it a point to go through each piece of equipment to show his sanitation standards. He is one of the cleanest artists I've ever been to. We went straight to work after that. He outlined with a 5 needle. The smallest needle I've ever had used on me. I'm not an outline girl so it was unpleasant, but it made beautiful, sharp, fine lines. He made me feel 1000% comfortable the whole time. The whole thing took 40-45 minutes. One of my fastest and most detail oriented tattoos! Nelson really makes you feel like he cares about you and his work the whole time! I'm very very happy with my experience there and will ABSOLUTELY go to Nelson again!

This is not my first tattoo, but it is my first tattoo here in Reno. The relationship and trust you build in an artist is a tricky one. You entrust them with something important, precious, to you. I have had the rest of my work done by one artist but that artist is now in New York. As I can't run off to NY every time my heart tugs me to a tattoo, I wanted to develop trust in someone locally. Nes came quite highly recommended from a coworker who has black and grey tattoos also. I am not a person who seeks a colorful tattoo. I want clean lines and black and grey. This tattoo was important as it is a memorial piece. I sought Nes out and dropped by the shop on a random saturday afternoon. He and I spoke briefly, I explained my idea and he agreed. I booked an appt for a little over 1 month later. A few days previous to the appointment I dropped the bow tie off (the real one) that the tattoo would be based on. The day I arrived I was quite anxious. The emotional weight of the tattoo and the concern over the trust in an artist I haven't used before both raging inside me. Nes immediately set me at ease. He smiled. Welcomed me over to his section. Asked me a few questions and then set to work sketching it out. He laid the stencil and I was overjoyed. He asked me the story behind the tattoo and I explained as I fought back the tears. He set the needle to my skin and we both never looked back. He worked meticulously for 2 hours on a piece that is about 5/6" x 3". His touch is light handed and made the tattoo experience easy. The pain was quite minimal and the conversation excellent. At the end I stood up, took a look in the mirror and cried. I glanced back to see tears streaming from my wives face as well. The lines are clean and perfect. The shading is gorgeous. Overall, thanks go to Nes for his impeccable talent and care. He knew what this meant to me and he made every detail perfect. I will return to Nes and I will trust him with the things that matter most to me.

I was back to work with Jason Dugan to finally finish up my back piece, and once again, he managed to completely exceed my expectations. I went in with one idea of how the tattoo was going to come out, but after giving Jason some general guidelines, he expanded on the concept to make it even better than I could have hoped for. ​The final result is truly breathtaking, and looking at the finished photos, the level of imagery and color depth is just astounding. The entire piece flows seamlessly, anchored in the center by that incredible Tree of Life design where the spine itself transforms into the trunk. The vertebral segments are defined perfectly, emerging from fiery, saturated red roots and branching out into that massive, vibrant green canopy spreading across my shoulders. On the left side, the female Harlequin face is hyper-detailed, her mask and complex neck ruff filled with deep, rich violets and crimsons that absolutely pop. The smaller, mischievous puppet she is holding balances perfectly with the figure on the right: the skeleton knight in full blue plate armor. Jason expertly detailed the armored suit, making the steel-blue plating and the bold red cross on the chest plate look distinct, balancing the 'carnival' vibe on one side with the 'martial/undead' vibe on the other. Every element is distinct, yet integrated perfectly. ​Jason took technical elements into practice that I never even considered, such as which specific colors would hold best with my skin tone and how the shading needed to be executed so the entire piece flowed seamlessly with my other tattoos. Despite the difficulty and complexity of the work, Jason was incredibly fast. When he gets in the zone, it is truly best to just let him "cook" without distractions because the results are phenomenal. ​What really impressed me was how much of this was done freehand. There wasn't a clear map on my back, yet Jason knew exactly where he was going. Because of that skill, he was able to contour the tattoo to move naturally with the muscles in my back, adding a whole other dimension to the art. Beyond the talent, Jason is a total professional. It never felt like he was trying to sell me on something or get more money out of me; he genuinely cared about the piece and wanted to make sure I loved it. That kind of authenticity is rare and shows he's not just trying to get paid and get you out the door. ​The shop environment made the long hours much easier to handle. Artists Delaney, Austin, and Nik were also in that day, and when the pain was becoming difficult to ignore, they were all there to help with distractions and great conversation between working with their own clients. Pro tip: don't even try to test Austin on his Magic: The Gathering knowledge--that man seriously knows his shit and it made for some great shop talk. ​As always, the shop was very clean and well-maintained. If I had any critique at all, it's just that the space feels a little small. It has a very cozy feel to it, but I could see the artists wanting a bit more personal space to work in--though that might just be my observation. Overall, I am beyond happy with the finished piece and the experience. If you want an artist who actually gives a shit about the work, this is the place to go.
