This review is strictly for the whole family leave process pertaining to the SDI office on suite 600. Our govt is so broken. I applied for paid family leave and was approved but never received the payments since August. Their phone number is always at max no matter what time of day you call M-F and always hangs up on you. No way to contact anyone online. I finally had to come into the office to try to get this resolved and was told to leave my name and number on the sign up sheet and someone will call me back and that most of everything is handled over the phone. SMH On a positive note: there's a parking garage with ample amount of parking and the security guard was incredibly helpful. Update: I received a phone call within a couple of hours and then was transferred to a different department and received that call the following day and then within a couple of days got my payment. Overall: 1 star for the broken time wasting system and 5 stars for all the people that assisted = 3 stars I'd recommend coming into the office ASAP to avoid more time wasted instead of trying to get someone on the phone through the phone number provided. This system is the worst. Been calling for months and unable to get through to SDI. I decided to get up at 5am to go stand in line, only to be given a clipboard to put my name on it. I have to give them credit because someone did call me back within the hour (much better than my last visit of having to wait in the parking lot for 5 hours). During the call, I was asked to bring a copy of a document to window 1. I went back to EDD Long Beach and went upstairs, where the guard let me in. When it was my turn, I went up to the window. Problem is, it had two signs, so I wasn't sure and asked the worker at the window. I've never met someone in his position so rude and dismissive. He acted like I was there to rob him. You would think that a person with a disability in a job like this would have compassion for others. Customer service gets a zero. read more

If I can give a zero I would. Services are not professional or efficient. I arrived at 11:30am. on 3/5/3026 and entered the line. Expected wait time was 3 hours, it ended up being more than 5 hours. The security guard working was an African American Female, she was not helpful and had her AirPods in while being on her personal phone making calls. I had to do her job and explain to customers who came in how to sign into the line. Once I finally got helped by an attendant at the counter it was 4:32 p.m. I was assisted by a Hispanic older female In her late 40's in the ADA cubicle. She had long black hair and she was fair skin, but she spoke Spanish. I patiently explained my frustration and what my reason for the visit was. The worker searched my file in under a minute and told me I was missing documents from my doctor. I understood and told her they had already sent them. She then told me to wait in the lobby since I was taking too long at her counter and claimed she needed to attend other customers. She stated she would complete an advanced search after she helped other members. This made me feel unimportant and as if I wasn't worth her time. She told me to wait outside and then come back for the advanced search. I waited about 10 to 15 minutes while she attended other members. Once she was done attending others, she walked to the back of the office. I was still waiting for her. It seemed like she didn't want to help me and just wanted to clock out for the day. I then asked another representative at the counter if they could ask the first attendant if she was still going to help me and complete the advanced search. She calls over the lady that helped me initially. When I asked her about the advanced search, she started to speak to me in Spanish. I never spoke Spanish in front of her but I look Mexican. She explained to me that she couldn't find anything in the system even though she hadn't done the advanced search. I told her I speak English, I had a whole conversation with her prior in English. I felt very discriminated, being a darker Latina living in Southern California, I have never had an encounter like this. I'm appalled and dissatisfied at the customer service that was provided. There was no sympathy or empathy given at that office. Most of the workers there seem to be there to just collect a pay check and don't want to go above and beyond to help anyone out. I waited over 5 hours to only be serviced for less than a minute. Please do better, and provide compassion to customers. This experience was horrible. I felt like I was in hell. Calling the number for EDD assistance is no help either. I try to speak to a representative and get told my the automated system that there are already too many people in line or the call just cuts. There needs to be improvement in This system. I can't believe this is where some of our tax dollars go to. Very dissatisfied and offended by this encounter. read more

I really don't know what the purpose of this office. All they do is take your number and say that someone will call you back. They sometimes do but either they call you while driving away or in the elevator or not at all. My claim had been in limbo for 8 months when there multiple times. Fast forward to now went to Santa Ana office which really out of the way but no line and in and out in 30 minutes and it's was resolved that day. I have come to this office three times now and every time I am helped in particular by the Security personnel Jonathan and Lauren. They are extremely knowledgeable and professional I was able to complete my paperwork thanks to their guidance. Had they not helped I would have gone many more weeks without completing my claim and I would have waisted time seeking help. If they are trained that's very helpful for the public, if they are self trained and have made it a point to educate themselves to help they deserve praise and a raise truly. I have NEVER written a review before because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt however, I had an absolute terrible experience. I spoke with two different workers at the EDD office and both were extremely rude, unhelpful, and completely dismissive. From the moment the conversation started, they acted like I was an inconvenience to them giving me attitude, cutting me off, and showing zero interest in actually helping me. I was asking reasonable questions and trying to get clarity on my situation , and instead I was met with rude and unhelpful responses. If your job is to assist people, maybe try doing it without making them feel like a burden. Completely unprofessional and honestly unacceptable. Do better. read more

I didn't end up needing the in-office assistance from this office. This is meant as a PSA for folks having a hard time getting a hold of folks at EDD. If you have the money to spare you should 100% use the dialing service ClaimYR. It cost me $25 but they connected me with an EDD claims representative on the same day. You basically provide your phone number, pay the $25 and have them start the auto-dial service for whatever state service you need (mine was SDI). I started the service at 9AM (literally just tapping a button) and got the call at 2PM. Best of all, I didn't have to waste my time calling in!! They send you a text letting you know you're next so you make sure your ringers on, then they'll call you and automatically connect you to the EDD rep. Totally worth it in my opinion! read more

I want to post a review so you know exactly how it will go. Once arriving to the office, there will be a line. You must put down your name and the reason for your visit. They will call you, instead of going to a window and getting service. The girl called me a few hours after and did a follow up call the next day because she didn't have time to follow up the previous day. Please beware, that when they call you, it's from a Private "no caller ID" number. Make sure to answer the call because it is them. Where to start..... its very strange how hard it is to collect money from disability and navigate thru there website. When the pandemic hit it was relatively easy to start a claim for workmans comp or unemployment. Now its really hard. I think they make it hard so people give up and they dont haveto pay them. They also used to use Bof A as their bank and give you a debit card. Now they give you a money network card that charges you a dollar every time you use the atm also my bank charges $3.50 to deposit said money into my account. Its total bs. Hope you never have to use edd cuz it sucks. read more

Came to the office and wrote my number never received a call. i'm returning two weeks later. Did not receive a call. I explained to the ladies at the front desk what was going on and they told me I had to write my number and they will call me. I explained to her that I have went through this procedure before and asked to speak to a supervisor and they told me I couldn't speak to a supervisor. I explained to them that no one has called me. No one has left messages State and that they are, the unemployment office and still I was not able to see a supervisor. It's a difference in being disrespectful and disregarded when it's the citizens they keep them employed. While they were in there, taking care of someone at the desk without a problem, you cannot discriminate because of race or who favored towards. read more

I went in because I've been waiting over 2 months without SDI income and unable (like everyone else) to get a hold of a live person via phone. Process is efficient. Either fill out a form and wait outside (could be a 2 hour wait) or leave your number so you can leave and wait for a live person to call. I received a call about 7 hours later and got my case in motion again...I have hope that the issue will get resolved. Staff was very friendly and kind and even making jokes. Came here yesterday morning (8am sharp) for something simple as a password reset; which I'm glad I did. It required tech support which I couldn't get a hold of on the phone via provided number X 1 week. It turned out when speaking to the young lady in LB EDD, noted a different email account was linked into my vital information. Glad I took the time to marinate for a few hours of my day to take care of this matter. My total time from arriving to leaving took 2 hrs @8am. 4 STARS; the system or process is unimaginable & broken. The office here needs more staff & space. They are working OVER CUSTOMER VOLUME. The ladies here are KIND. Tips: -Arrive early, 7:30-8am. A line is already formed outside the building almost a mini wrap around the building, depending on volume/day. Plus, doors don't open til 8am. -@8 a staff member with a clip board is there to gather your name & phone number. She gives a ticket number (don't lose it). I was #26. She gives you an estimated time for the wait. You can wait in your, outside, do errands. - they call you when it's your turn. Allow to give yourself 15-20 mins to drive back. - go to 6th floor. They have 1 elevator working out of 3 elevators. You will be greeted by a security person on the 6th floor. She's strict, funny & kind. - take a seat. They have a electronic number displaced on the wall & they will ding your number when it's your turn like the meat market or beatlejuice movie. - There are 3 windows only! VERY LOW STAFF FOR HIGH VOLUME. Window 1. Checking more people in to speak to EDD staff member. Windows 2 & 3 are helping us get the information we need. NOTES: The ladies that work there are very KIND, PROFESSIONAL, & PATIENT. Please treat them kindly. They are WORKING HARD to do as much as they can to obtained the help you need. - if u get there anytime after 11a-12p. GOOD LUCK! Estimated time for anytime after 9am would be 2-3 hrs. -REMEMBER! Each person is tailored to a different TIME alloted customer service. Mine took 30 mins to get things cleared up, plus the computer FROZE. Some other ppl took shorter or longer. read more

I came because like everyone who tries to call you can't even get through to talk to someone. I would recommend going in person to an office. This office is located in the tall building right next to Trader Joe's on the sixth floor. You sign in leaving your phone number, you're given a number and they call you when you're like three numbers away. It took 3 hours so keep that in mind. Go have breakfast/lunch, go to the gym like I did, or go shopping. Overall they were helpful just be ready to wait. Much better to wait three hours and get seen than be calling for days and not getting an answer. read more

I filed online and then two weeks later went to the office on July 18, 2023 to confirm if my claim was received because their phone system had no claim on file. It took 3 hours to be seen, and they couldn't locate my claim in the system, I presented the clerk with my print out from home with my Claim ID and then they were able to locate my claim. This system of the state needs to be improved, including the phone service that's like hitting the lottery. read more

The address on yelp took me to the wrong place. Yelp listed the address as: 4811 Airport Plaza Dr Ste 120 Long Beach, CA 90815 The correct address is 4300 Long Beach Blvd Long Beach CA 90807 I went to the 6th floor, took a number, waited for my number to be called, and walked up to the next open window when it was my turn. I asked the guy at the window to please review my dad's EDD disability application form because I didn't want to mail it, and wait a while for it to be rejected for something small I could have filled out before submitting. The guy at the window was nice about it. He reviewed my form, told me to check a box I left blank and to sign a line I left blank. Then he took my form and said he would submit it for me. That was it. Overall I had a good experience. The wait time wasn't too bad either. There were a lot of people but everyone had a fairly short meet time. read more

Incompetence - Synonymous with this EDD office. Look it up in the dictionary and there is a picture of the Long Beach EDD office. EDD is one of the most inefficient, disorganized, poorly run and as previously stated, incompetent government agencies I've ever encountered. Want to get in touch with them via telephone? Go ahead and try... C'mon, I dare you!!! They will run you through 15 minutes bi-lingual jibberish, prompts and numerical entry, only to hang up on your disgruntled a$$ with an oh so pleasant "we're sorry, the maximum number of callers has been reached, please try again later" message. Total BS... I know. I tried. About 10 times a day, all times of the day, every day of the week. Same 'ol message, same 'ol result. (My bad... Enter definition of insanity here ___ ). After an infinitesimal number of attempts to contact them via telephone, one finally succumbs and heads in to the offices to actually speak with someone. Long Beach office is located on the sixth floor of the LB Blvd building. Simple enough, right? WRONG!!! Head on up there to be greeted by an 8-1/2 x 11" printed piece of paper, taped to the reception window telling you to "please pick a ticket number", you know, kind of like the deli counters offer. So, from whence are these priceless little gems distributed, I ask? Get to that in a sec... After waiting in what seems to be a stationary line on the sixth floor for 15 minutes, I finally get to the counter to ask "where do you get a ticket?". Oh, the lady at the counter says... You have to go down to the 5th floor to get one. Really? Are you FUC'n kidding me? "Why does it not say that in the first floor lobby or even here in the 6th floor office", I ask. "It does" she says, "right there on the sign". I respond, you mean this sign", pointing to a sign that faces her, visible only to anyone who is standing right at the reception window, (her side of course), or sports neck muscles akin to Linda Blair in "The Exorcist". I don't have x-ray vision, my head doesn't spin on a pedestal, nor do I have eyes on the back of my head... Well, at least that beeyatch had a good view of it. Fast forward to my downward excursion to the 5th floor "waiting area" so I can get my golden ticket. This place looks like a FUC'n depression era soup kitchen, packed to the hilt and then some, no seating available whatsoever, with peeps laid out in the hallway outside. Folks like me, just trying to get paid, justifiably or not. I ask and they tell me the wait will be "about an hour". Warped sense of time them peeps. 2-1/2 hours later I was finally seen, only to be told, "we're working on it, we are understaffed". UNDERSTAFFED... The new synonym for incompetence. Thanks Gov. Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown. Your reality is my, (and I suppose hundreds of thousands of others), nightmare... P.S. When I finally did make it back up to the sixth floor, the sign asking people to go to the fifth floor mysteriously relocated itself outside the sixth floor elevator doors... For all to see!!! I filled for unemployment on 10/23/2022 and it was approved. I have been waiting for my 1st check for 4 weeks. Have called 20+ times and unable to reach anyone. I someone hit the right button and was able to receive a call back. The women who called me back listen to my concern and then while I was talking put me on hold. Not sure if I should keep waiting, BUT THIS IS RIDICULIOUS! Talk about poor customer service! Just because someone is unemployed doesn't mean they do not deserve to have respect and courtesy! EED is a really fucked up program. First of all, it is virtually impossible to speak to a employee. You go on ask EDD and they limit what you can ask. I paid the doctors office $30 to fill out the Physician document and mailed it with extreme care, double stamps, took pictures of what I sent, to have proof and a have a smooth transaction, and what do you know........they mailed me back a week later that my Doctors document was missing. They do this shit on purpose, they hold back, they keep you from the same money you give to them every paycheck, and when it's time to collect they act like a fucked up friend that wont pay you back. I went to this office for clarification on my SDI and PFL benefits since I was on maternity leave from work. I arrived 15 mins after they had opened and there was no line. {side note- there is no signage on the outside of the building but the office is on the 6th floor in the big brown building}. I took the most recent paperwork I'd received from EDD that I had a question about and they were able to verify my return to work date and what I needed to fill out on the form and send in to the EDD office. The staff was very helpful and I was in and out of the office in 15 minutes. read more

My daughter is going through some medical issues so she had to stop working and apply for disability insurance. After getting her doctor to complete the 2501 form I advised her to take it straight to this office so that it did not get lost in the mail. My daughter shows up, hands the clerk her completed paperwork, he has her fill out one small portion and say she's good to go. Two weeks later my daughter gets a notice in the mail stating that they DID NOT receive the doctors summary and that it needs to be completed and submitted.....WTF?! We try to get a hold of the office, any office..............HA! Joke was on us. We head over to the office(not to far from our house) and get seen almost immediately, the gentleman that was assisting us basically said, 'You're S.O.L' in the nicest way possible. Now my daughter has to go back to her doctor, pay an additional $20 to get her form filled out and and re-submit it. There was no explanation, no 'Let me see what I can do', no 'Let me make a call'......nothing. read more
