I have been doing pilates with Nicole for almost 4 years now! Nicole is an incredible and knowledgeable instructor, as are all the other instructors at the studio. I have pretty severe scoliosis which results in a lot of uneven muscles and misalignment. She has helped me so much in creating balance and strengthening my core, which has been key to maintaining my mobility and strength. She really understands how the body works and pushes you the right amount to get a great workout. The studio is bright, clean, and friendly! I wanted to like this boutique studio but I am quite disappointed in the quality of the instructors here. It feels like they are just trying to have as many instructors or "instructors in training" as they can so that they can attract more customers. I have been coming for a few weeks, It's not an ideal place for beginners who really want to learn about/ start Pilates in the right way. Also it's disturbing when some of the instructors are louder than others, it is a shared space and I would prefer to be able to focus on my 1:1 session in a relatively quiet studio. read more

Since I've moved back to the Bay Area - and gotten hooked on Pilates while living in LA - I have noticed a few classical Pilates spots like these have opened up in the Los Altos area. I like taking these type of classes to balance out my body between more intense workout classes to make sure I'm strengthening the smaller and usually neglected muscles and even on both sides of my body. This place peeked my interest when I saw the new client specials for a mat class, 2 equipment classes, and a private instruction class for a great price! Nicole is very welcoming to have you in the studio, but also the right amount of tough to make sure you're doing the moves correctly. The classes are maxed at 4 people per class so you can get all the attention and correction you need while in a group workout. I just wish there was more class times, but it's a small space that is better fit for all the private instruction that they focus on. read more

I'm just finished my first private session with Grecia. She was GREAT! Her cues were so helpful, her pacing was perfect, and her encouragement felt sincere. I'm out of shape and have little Pilates experience. The studio is well designed, clean, and spacious. I could tell the teaching team enjoy working with and learning from each other because they were supportive of clients and one another. That makes for a welcoming atmosphere. Usually I am not gonna leave a bad review, however, the policy of this Pilate studio is ridiculous. I tried the 3 sessions that charged 333. I sent out the e-mail 1 night before my session on Saturday because I was not feeling too well, then next day I received the e-mail saying it's against their rule and policy so I couldn't reschedule my session and lost 111. The lady Julia who sent me the e-mail is also pushy and impolite, which makes me not comfortable to come to this studio. I am pretty sure she won't pay me back of the rest 2 sessions. And BTW the policy is that you must finish these sessions within 21 days read more

I am from out of the area and visit Empowered Body Pilates when I am visiting. The owner Nicole Grand is awesome. She knows Classical Pilates and teaches with enthusiasm and humor. She is a master at guiding your body to do what you think it can't do. Her associates are equally as skilled and with her guidance really bring it to each client. Wonderful, patient, firm, helping me with form/building muscle and bone strength. at 65 I have never done anything like studio or classical pilates; always been an outdoor hiker, bike rider, so I need clear, concise instruction and practice. The layout and décor of the studio has been carefully crafted to provide a welcoming, yet calm environment. The equipment is new and well maintained. Everything is located in the ideal location within the space. There is plenty of lighting and plants grace the high shelf near the ceiling. The restroom is oversized: with a bench, wall hooks and plenty of room for changing clothes. The equipment includes reformers, a Cadillac, barrels, spine correctors and boxes. Everything that one would expect to find in a well-equipped pilates studio. Scheduling classes is accomplished with ease via the MindBody Application. If there is an issue or problem with MindBody, Nicole, the owner, is gracious about helping clients sort out the class time. Nicole Grand is the owner of Empowered Body. I have been working with Nicole for the last four years. Her thorough knowledge of Classical Pilates, and Power Pilates serves her clients well. Her internships in physical therapy and knowledge of kinesiology, ensure that her clients perform exercises CORRECTLY, and are modified for the current state of their body. When I found Nicole, I was recovering from a severely irritated disc in my cervical spine. I was looking for a way to strengthen my core and my spine, as I never wanted to experience that kind of pain again. Nicole began teaching me the basics of pilates, and modified exercises to fit my strength and current body pain level. After just a few months under her tutelage, I did not need to see my chiropractor as often. My pain level decreased and my body strength increased. I've been going to Empowered Body Pilates for several months and love it. I started doing classical pilates about 10 years ago, and have trained with a number of instructors in NY and SF. Nicole's classes are amazing for any level, and group classes are small enough to provide attention to each student. Nicole's training in ballet is such a unique plus and really adds to her skill set as an instructor. I've taken several classes with Beverly, and she's the perfect compliment to Nicole. The classes provide technical training in pilates for all levels, and also a great workout and stretch. By accident, I found Empowered Body Pilates to start me on a Pilates journey about a year ago. It's a petite, hidden gem of a studio, off Main Street in downtown Los Altos. I've taken mostly small group sessions and after each class I always leave the studio a little taller, core aware, more physically balanced, and mentally uplifted than when I first walked through the door. Nicole's deep knowledge of the Pilates methodology, exercises and equipment, and ability to modify each class based on immediate needs is inspiring. Nicole is also incredibly patient with newbies and explains the movements and proper technique with aplomb. She has an amazing eye for detail, so don't expect to get away with shortcuts! I think Pilates can offer something for everyone - from all levels of fitness, coordination, shapes and weights - from mat, tower to reformer exercises.
