My name is Raymond Jr. I want to share the positive experience I have had attending Remarck Sport Tae Kwon Do/Dynamis Academy. About 12 years ago, when I was 4 1/2 years old, my parents were looking for an afterschool program that I could attend which was structured and offered a strict discipline component. From the beginning it was a very positive experience attending RST. Due to me having ADHD I needed a program that would let me be able to burn off extra energy in a positive way. Master Patrice and Master Danielle Remarck, took me under their wing and trained me. Due to my father being in the military and both of my parents being from Michigan it was nice to have Remarck Sport as a place to go to which was like a family community. In school, I have always been a varsity athlete, and in gifted and talented academic and honor roll classes. It was awesome that RST offered tutoring and homework assistant. Ms. Danielle always took the extra time to help me with my math homework. This year I am a senior in high school and will be heading off to college. I am presently in Trigonometry and I know the extra help and tutoring I received from Ms. Danielle when I was younger is why I still continue getting mostly A's in my math and Physics classes this school year. Throughout my school career, I have always been on the A/B honor roll each year which is a blessing. Did I mention, I received my black belt while under Master Patrice and Master Danielle's leadership? I still come back to the center now called Dynamis Academy and visit because I feel like this dojang will always be part of my extended family . As for my black belt, which I am extremely proud of, it was a tremendous amount of hard work and took hours of Tae Kwon Do training and discipline under RST staff. When I was ready to test for my black belt, due to a difficult time in my life because my parents were getting divorced, I started having some challenges and was not doing all that I should do. So my mother and Master Danielle talked and decided I had to change some of my ways before I could test for my black belt. As a result, I ended up having to wait an additional 2 years before testing. Looking back on the situation, what I appreciate more now is that my mother and Master Danielle cared about me as an overall person and I wasn't a bad child but they wanted me to have my whole life on a better track before testing for my black belt. At first I was mad but I understand that being a black belt means being a good leader and I appreciate that they made me wait and get things together and I have to say I truly appreciate and have such pride when I look at my black belt now. Finally, I love how when I go back Remarck Sport/Dynamis Academy to visit I still feel like part of the family and I know I am always welcome to come back and train when I am ready because the doors will always be open to me. I thank Master Patrice, Master Danielle, my Mom, my dad, and grandparents the most for helping to mold me into the man I am destined to become by making me earn things 100% all these years. I am forever grateful that they never gave up on me and they provided the tools for me to be a better person which has been invaluable for achievement in academics and sports over the years. Okay so I`m a little bias because this is my team, but think about it this way: you get an insiders perspective! =) Taekwondo is a hit or miss sport. You can either walk into a school called "Hissing Snake Karate Do-Jang" and learn how to do the "Triple Spinning Tornado Kick of Immense Pain" (hehe) or you can walk into a real, legit school and learn real Olympic style Taekwondo. 2nd Option sound a little better...? Yea, I thought so. Master Patrice Remack is a legend on his own. He`s a 6th Degree Black Belt, an Olympian, and a World Champion. & not only that, HE`S A FREAKIN GENIUS! He studied Physics at Howard University in DC and still plays around with scientific and mathematical theory for fun. (errr?) Sound a little scary? Don`t be put off, Master P is hilarious. He has the most adorable french accent and develops a father-like bond with everyone of his athletes and genuinely cares about their wellbeing. As for the school itself, they offer everything you could be looking for: Teen and Adult Classes Lil Dragon Classes for younger children Summer Camps Private Lessons Olympic Team and MORE! Their competitive team includes an Olympic Silver Medalist, numerous National Team Members, Collegiate Team Members, and Junior Team Members. The school is well established and holds waaaaaay to many competitive records. My husband and I couldn't be happier to have found such a great taekwondo training center for our son. We registered our son about a year ago, and it's amazing to see how much he's learned and progressed under Master Daniels great teaching. Not only has our son gained so much more self-confidence; he's also learned more about being a great leader/team player, be a better listener, how to use taekwondo as a self-defense tool, and be more courageous. We've seen such a huge improvement in his attitude and he's always so eager to go to classes and see Master Danielle who is not only sweet, but also a very patient, dedicated and loving teacher. She's also very honest and teaches her students about discipline and to be respectful towards others. I could go on and on about how great of a teacher and person Master Danielle is but I don't want to take over the whole Yelp page. My 6 year old son has been doing after school care and tae kwon do martial arts classes for almost a year and I've been so pleased with the experience! Empowered Martial Arts has everything I wanted in after care: safe pick up and drop off close to my son's school, a diverse and inclusive environment, and flexibility (they pick up kids on early release and teacher work days). Their Spring and Summer camps are reasonably priced and have hours that work with my husband's and my work schedules (which can be difficult to find in this area without paying more for "extended care"). Master Danielle, a 5th degree black belt herself, is knowledgeable, kind, and has great communication; she sends updates and pictures regularly, which I really appreciate. You can just do before and/or after care, but my son does both after care and takes tae kwon do classes 2x week and has learned life and interpersonal skills and respect. Most of the time when I pick him up, he doesn't want to leave! I love supporting this woman-owned business, especially because it's been such a great experience for our family. read more

My kids have been going to the summer camp at Empowered and taking Taekwondo classes there since we moved to the area in 2020. Master Danielle, Master Lee, and Ms. Pyne have become like family to us. Empowered is much more than just a taekwondo after-care place (which they have before school and after school, including transportation) but also a second home and place where my kids are being taught social skills, manners and socio-emotional development. Moving here during covid was very lonely, especially for my young kids. Empowered helped them during that tough time and is still here for them now. Not only are they great people who are teaching my children how to be better humans, but my kids are also really enjoying, and getting good at, taekwondo. Dynamis has been a lifesaver during the pandemic. After struggling through virtual schooling with our three kids at home in the spring and arranging summer camp as best we could, one of our friends told us about Dynamis. We signed our kids up in August of 2020 and haven't looked back. Ms. Danielle and her staff have helped them complete their virtual schooling (better than we could have while working full time from home!) and has also kept them active. The children all love the Tae Kwon Do lessons in the afternoon, and always want us to come to their belt tests to see what they've mastered. Dynamis has been a great mix of schooling, exercise, and friendship for our children, and I can't imagine how we would have gotten through this past year without it. read more

My son has taken classes at Dynamis Academy (formerly Remarck Taekwondo) for 1 month and attends up to 3 times a week. He is still just as excited to put on his uniform and go to class as he was the first day - which is saying a lot for an 8 year old. Ms. Danielle is a truly wonderful teacher; her approach to the students is to always nurture and educate them in every situation - whether it's the moves she's teaching or the situations that come up in class that she turns into life lessons. While the name of the program hasn't always been Dynamis, the folks who run it haven't changed! Their long experience speaks for itself! My son is now 13 and has been attending both the Olympic taekwondo and the After-school programs for the past 8 years. The combination of intense sports training and skilled academic support has helped him tremendously with his behavior challenges. He maintains straight As at school and is working towards his second degree black belt. That kind of success speaks for itself. Dynamis Academy is fantastic for children! My daughter loves the after school program - she enjoys learning Taekwondo and has made some great new friends in the process. The children also have time for homework and there is even someone available to help them with it! As a teacher, I especially love that as children advance, they can assist in the previous levels which really helps them solidify their skills. They are always reliable on pickup, and it is so convenient that they have all day programs when school is out. Great place to learn some new skills. I'm a military veteran and throughly enjoy the learning environment and material. Definitely recommending to fellows friends. Taking more classes here soon. After a crazy year of virtual schooling my 6 year old son was driving me crazy. He is a super active kid that never slows down. He needed a place where he can learn self control and self esteem ( my son has problems with his speech). This is the place. Master Danielle is so patient with the Little Dragons (ages 3-6) in her care. She keeps the kids engaged, helps them with their forms, and they all have a great time. My son asks me everyday when is his next class. He loves it and I am so thankful that I found this awesome school. We searched Alexandria for a great martial arts program for our daughter, and Dynamis Academy came out on top - even though there are a number of closer options to us. We are not disappointed. Master Danielle balances her many years of experience with fun and engagement for our 4 year-old. Not many things hold the attention of pre-kindergartner, but Dynamis keeps even the young ones fully engaged. The Distance Learning Pod program they've established has been a life-saver! We would not be able to function in these trying times without their wonderful program. Temperature checks and masks are in place to ensure everyone's safety. If you're wondering how you'll live if this drags on much longer, give Dynamis a call! We started at Dynamis at the end of this summer, and I honestly can't imagine how we would be getting without their support. Their Distance Learning Pod program has been amazing, and they've also been open on school holidays. Our children are so much happier to be able to have a safe place to have in-person interaction, and the fact that Master Danielle offers Tae Kwon Do lessons when virtual classes are over is the icing on the cake, and gives our kids a chance to burn off all the extra energy. read more

Dynamis Academy is a wonderful program with very friendly and efficient staff. It has surely been a God sent program for my 14 year old daughter who has attended for over 2 years. A partial solution to kids learning from home? During COVID where kids are using their computers to log in to their teacher's classroom, Dynamis Academy offers a place for them to hook in. Virtual learning pods allow them to log in to their classes along with peers, have someone to talk and play with during breaks, and staff to help with lessons.
