This is the course review or the TEMPE location. Let me first of state that I have attended a community college EMT course in Flagstaff about 6 years ago. That was a fantastic course. I found EMSU and Uniteck. I chose EMSU because they were cheaper, offered just the course and seemed to be straight forward 4 week intensive course. Day 1, everyone in the class begins instructor comes in, goes through the slide shows, doesn't really "teach" just reads the slides. Day 2, same teacher same things for the slides except he says well we are done early with the slides. Says well since we are done you all can leave and get the online work done yourselves at home. day 3, we find out that the teachers was asked to not come back. This was just the beginning of multiple inconstancies and issues that would come about. During the course of the next two months. Fast forward to the end of the course. We finish the class Feb 4, it took over a month for my class to receive the ability to get cleared by the program director to take the NREMT. After emails calls, them telling us the program director had "family emergency" that was told to us in the beginning of March. Many of us finished our ride times in the middle or end of February. Long story short, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. DONT GO THROUGH THE HEAD ACHE OF THIS PLACE. HORIBBLE lost out on two jobs so far because I assumed I would finish the course when I got told it would end. Go to a community college and get the course done there or spend the extra money and go to UNITECK Please please ignore this place and don't come. Let me start by saying, this place is a SCAM. After beginning my first day of class of the Fast Track program ( Class of October - Nov. 7th, 2021), I quickly began to see how unorganized this "university" is. The first day of registry, we were told by the lady at the front that there was no online portion of the class. Which was contradictory to what their website said and what we paid for. Later that day, after payment was submitted and we began orientation with Craig, we were told that the next two days following the first day were online. Craig then told us he would have our schedules sent out for the remainder of the class that same day. It wasn't until a few days later (keep in mind that this class is only about a month long), that our schedules were sent. After attending the class for three weeks. I told that I was dropped from the class for failing three tests. According to Craig, three test scores below 80% are failing and require to drop. But their information online (screenshot attached) and orientation page for the class I am enrolled in states specifically that failing grades are below 75% and requires FOUR tests to be dropped. If this was the case, this would make the difference of myself and a few other students still being enrolled in the class and being able to take the final. After presenting Craig with this information, he informed me that the website is outdated, and that because he verbally stated otherwise, his word sticks, rather than what is written in the orientation for the class. I asked him to provide documentation of the class expectation change, but of course, there is none. Craigs attitude the entire time I knew him seem to reflect him wanting to fail students, and have them re-pay for the class, which is exactly what I think he is doing to me. If he took accountability for the inaccurate information, or led me up a higher up I could speak to, to get this resolved would be one thing, but instead told me no-one, including him and the 1-800 service were permitted to provide me assistance. Regardless, I contacted 1-800 to discuss my situation, and they informed me that what Craig says, goes. They were very unhelpful as well, and seemed to steer me in this endless loop to avoid allowing me to speak to the CEO or any of the higher-ups. I am currently doing the weekend accelerated classes -Not really classes, more of "complete all of the assignments on your own and listen to people read off slideshows" -Instructors are nice, but hit or miss on how much they actually care to teach you -equipment is outdated and disgusting Now all of this would be fine if they DIDN'T CANCEL CLASS EVERY OTHER WEEK. You are REQUIRED to get your mandatory hours, and this money grabbing company can't even find instructors to just sit there and help you fulfill them. I am a full time student, I cannot come in during the week to make up these hours. I am currently missing 20 mandatory classroom hours because of cancelled classes, and I still have two weeks left. Oh you want a refund? Even if they somehow, by the grace of god, get back to you, you're out 500 dollars for the horrible stethoscope and bp cuff they give you. This company is a joke. Most emt classes are pretty self taught from what I've heard, but find one that at least cares enough to find teachers for your classes. Instructors are okay, one of their best instructors quit recently. Don't go here if you want to get your EMT license quickly and efficiently. The administrators at this school are unresponsive and are unwilling to do their jobs for you. Overpriced class for what you are getting. I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

I am really frustrated with your company!! I registered for a class on August 18 and then had to cancel. Called and canceled on August 28 Was told by Salvador it would take 30 days to issue a refund to my card. Called on September 28 Was told by Salvador we are going to issue a check and mail it. Then he ask for the address. So leads me to believe that there was nothing being processed and that even though he said it would take 30 days from August 28 I called today November 7 Was told I need to call back on Monday and she wouldn't even look up my account to check the status. What kind of shit show is being run over there? What kind of customer service program is being run over there? This is 100% ridiculous!!! I have called my credit card to dispute the charge. This is bad customer service. I have done credit card processing for a friends business on their website. Guess what it only took 3-5 business days every time to process returns, not 60 plus. Do not come here. Poorly ran. They do not have enough instructors and cancel classes all the time. And expect you to adjust to their schedule when they have make up classes. And they will give you a hard time if you ask for a refund back. read more

This place is a complete joke. Registered for the class a week prior to the date. Arrived on the scheduled class date and time and was told by other students that the doors were still locked. The other students called the 800 number and were told that doors open promptly at the scheduled 10:00 start, which later we found to be a lie as they told others when registering for the class to arrive 10 min early because they shut the doors at 10:00. After waiting 15 minutes we started contacting them via phone and live chat and "Victoria" was dealing with most of us. She said they do not have instructors phone numbers, only email addresses. Sounds like another lie to me! Had us go to another suite number even though I had already told her it was locked. Basically she was just trying to distract us until she could get a hold of whichever instructor through email (eye roll). Those that were on the phone with her were told to hold and she was working with others to try to find out where the instructor was, but "accidentally" disconnected. Whoops! I'm sure that wasn't intentional (major eye roll). Anyways, we stuck around for 45 minutes, some said they'd wait an hour. I was out after 45 because I felt like I was done with being jerked around by this unprofessional organization. Basically we all wasted part of our day and holiday weekend because this place doesn't know how to operate. Don't waste your time and money with this place. They advertise fully in class learning, but more than half the classwork is only online. They do not teach you the online portion either. They do not do any hands on learning. When you withdraw from the program they keep $500 of your money saying it is for their extremely cheap equipment kit. Not one person from this school has recognized my daughter has withdrawn from the school. We will probably have to fight to receive any refund. Stay away from this school! read more

I have had to recertify my EMT certification , including skills verification, and I am very glad I came across EMS University. The skills verification is hard to find and they have it all in one package. All of my interactions with them, particularly Sam, have been positive, they are very accommodating, and solve issues quickly. I highly recommend them, and I am VERY fussy. read more

I have been an EMT for five years, and I recently took the EMT/NREMT refresher in Hayward, CA: http://www.sanfranciscoemtrefresher.com The Good: * The class was easy to sign up for online * Very, very reasonably priced. This class is by far the most reasonably priced class I've experienced for EMT refreshers * Customer service was excellent help. The live chat system works great, and responses were quick and informative. They were also great about answering customer calls * The class was held over 3 days, 2 of which were on the weekend, which made things easier * Lunch was served, which was a nice touch The Bad: * I am very, very doubtful that this class adequately prepared the students in the class to be EMTs. Many of the students had never had experience as an EMT and had forgotten the majority of their initial course. The class itself was a series of activities in which the students taught themselves. We were told to "Spend some time googling contraindications to the drugs you can give" * We received no feedback on our care. When we would simulate a patient, we would describe what we would do, and the instructor would sit there and nod, and then proceed to the next group of students * Some of the information told to us was outright incorrect, including many of the quiz/final exam questions online * The instructor was not, and had never been, an EMT or Paramedic. This meant that the context for the course was entirely lost, and the instructor had no understanding of EMT protocols, and could thus not advise us on the correct protocols and standards of care. Relatedly, it seems that the instructor did not have much experience in healthcare, as there were some knowledge gaps with common medical terms and physiology concepts * While the program was very cheap, this was reflected in the lack of course materials. We had one epinephrine trainer to split amongst 15 students, a very small cheap AED trainer, no naloxone/narcan trainer, one glucometer, etc. We also did not take vital signs at any point during the course * The exam was incredibly easy. Some may view this as a good thing, but when the majority of the evaluations consist of "talking about what you could do for this patient" and, in some cases, trusting that we knew how to do certain stations without evaluating us, it gets me very nervous for the EMTs that are being certified * A small thing - the course was called "The San Francisco EMT Refresher" but had no relationship whatsoever to San Francisco. Hayward is almost 2 hours southeast of San Francisco, which felt misleading. If you are looking for a quick, easy, and relaxing way to get your EMT card, this program is great. However, if you want to refresh on your abilities as an EMT or become prepared for the NREMT exam, I would advise going elsewhere. read more

In September, I paid $1445 for a class. My son, the student, almost immediately changed his mind and canceled his class following the school's refund policy. After numerous attempts over eight months, we have not received a refund. Do NOT trust them. Looks like a trip to small claims court is in the near future. read more

Completely unreliable. I was scheduled and paid for a class in early November and took off of work to attent. Two days before the class, I got a text message saying the class was cancelled due to "low enrollment". I was then told I had to reschedule for December 10th. On Dec 8th, I was told yet again that the class was cancelled and to reschedule for Jan 28th... I called several times and spoke to administrators who are not even in the US. They refused to help me and refused to honor their course schedule. This company has gone back on their word twice already, delaying my EMT recertification by MONTHS. This university is the biggest joke. From day one my entire class felt like this class was a scam, within the first week we were down to 12 of the original 16 students and I only wish I was apart of those that dropped when I could've still gotten a refund, though according to the other reviews that doesn't seem like it would've happened anyways. About a month into the class the website crashed and all of our online progress was lost (for some of us we were back online in about a week and for others they struggled to get their account back for another month) when we told the lead instructor about it he told us to just redo it. Which meant we had to redo a months worth of quizzes and exams and keep on top of what was currently being assigned. From speaking to students who had previously taken the class, this is a reoccurring problem. Around two months into the class I wrote an email to the owner of the university disclosing inappropriate comments that had been made by the lead instructor (everything from him bragging about his fail rate, or belittling students who get answers wrong, to him telling us that he'd be bringing a BB gun to our clinicals and that one of us might just end up getting shot in the ass) my email got no response and nothing was done about the complaints made by me or other students. Any attempts at communication with Craig, the lead instructor, were always met with rude replies, subtle insults or insane amounts of back and forth runarounds. My biggest take away from this class is that if you're totally okay with having your education hindered by a lead instructor who's a completely incompetent asshole, go for it. Just be warned that if he isn't your instructor, he'll make sure to regularly interrupt your class to take away from your learning hours and then jump in for the last month to tell your whole class that everything they've been doing to this point is wrong in order to try to confuse you right before your tests. Hear me when I say that Craig wants you to fail. There's a couple good instructors here, but the university itself has too many flaws for that to matter. The fact that they allow Craig to do and say whatever he wants, makes it impossible to have a functioning learning environment. The schedule is janky and unless you luck out having an instructor like Phillip the entire duration of your class, you'll spend most of your time trying to teach yourself or using outside study sources to pass your quizzes and exams. I got to the last two weeks before I decided that I needed to switch to a different ems course to ensure that the education I'm paying to be provided with is actually going to be beneficial in a career field where people's lives will literally be in my hands. When I notified the lead instructor about my decision I was told that I was going to be dropped anyways, even though there were absolutely no grounds for that considering all of my test scores were solid. Wow. Where to begin. I found this business on Yelp and I saw the ratings. I decided to give them a shot but ended up having to cancel my refresher due to unforeseen events. The registration process was quick and simple but the real issues started when it came to requesting a refund. I contacted Victoria via email to let her know I needed to cancel my class and request a refund 5 days prior to the class which was May 10th. I never received any communication back from her. A few days passed so I decided to call the contact number two days before the class was scheduled. I spoke with Sam and let him know what the situation and that I needed to get a refund. He told me everything would be taken care of. Two weeks went by with no communication on their part letting me know what was happening with the refund. I reached out again only to find out their "refund policy" is 30 days. After I found that out I gave them 30 days from when I requested my class to be cancelled and for me to be refunded. We are now past the 30 day refund period and still nothing. I've contacted Victoria again still no luck with speaking to her (although she did call while I was at work leaving me a voicemail unsure of why she needed to speak with me). I reached out again and spoke with Sam this morning. He told me Victoria was out of the office and she would contact me by the end of today.....4pm came and passed still nothing. I contacted them once more and spoke with different person ensuring me that Victoria spoke with them and my refund will be "processed" tonight after 6pm. They also mentioned there would be a 10% fee to process it. She then stated once it is processed it will take another 3 business days to reflect in my account. Overall, I can't speak to the classes themselves but what I can say is, it has been a nightmare trying to get money back from this business. I wouldn't of cared so much if there was more communication. It feels like they are doing everything they can to hold onto my money and to not refund me. This was a great CE course that helped refresh materials and knowledge of the profession. It included great discussions that took place between the instructors and students about different treatment methods and protocols. I would recommend this course as it covers all the requirements necessary to re-certify national registry certification. read more

This company is NOT reliable! I scheduled a class for June for 6 of my childcare staff for CPR/AED training, to be held at our facility. The class was to be on a Sunday afternoon. I received a call the FRIDAY before that Sunday to say the class was cancelled, no instructor available. So I rescheduled a class for Sunday, July 18. On a hunch I called today (July 13) to inquire about the class and scheduled time, only to be told the class was cancelled, no instructor available. They didn't have the courtesy of calling me to let me know this. Something is up with their administration department. I highly suggest NOT scheduling training with EMS University. I went through the accelerated EMT course and I can not say enough terrible things about this place, the teaching was substandard, the customer service was substandard, the professional etiquette of the staff was substandard, the grading procedures were substandard. The only good thing I can say with positive light is they are a "real" EMS certified location and if you are able to self teach you will make it through. However, the accelerated course is a rip off because they do not have clinical rotations you can take right away. You have to wait up to a month after your class is over to begin clinical rotations. Realistically, if you pass all exams on the first try the accelerated course could have you certified 3 months after the beginning of the course. read more

Do not attend this school for your EMT certification. I just finished a 10 week accelerated class. It was nothing but an epic cluster from start to finish. We had 6 different instructors, nobody could ever give us a straight answer on what was going on. Our schedule changed weekly. Because of the lack of continuity of instruction, we hardly ever practiced hands on skills. We were not prepared for our clinical rotations either. on We were charged a website fee for online learning. 80% of time the website was non functional, or the material was outdated and not from our current text. We were charged fees for shirts that we never got as well. Half of the instructors we had just came in and bad mouthed the other instructors. It was like we were in junior high school. By the last week of our class, there were only like 2 instructors left teaching, and one admin that was also possibly on the way out. The administration, specifically the owner, Ruben Major as been less than helpful. I have jumped through his hoops to get a refund for the fees we paid that we didn't get services or goods for. He is just playing games with me, and I am very upset. Most of my classmates have also sought refunds. I ended up having to buy a study prep guide to help me prepare for the NREMT exam. Took the 40 hour NREMT refresher, was not very professional or rigorous. Kind of expensive for the bare minimum material provided. Difficult to get ahold of admin if you have account problems and the website and online course content was difficult to navigate. Could have been a lot better but it was convenient being able to do the class entirely online, signing up was easy and theres many sessions available. Wish there was an easy way to communicate with others taking the class but after the zoom lecture portion theres not any class hub or anything to even contact your instructor. Skills verification was not included either. All in all wish I could've taken a different refresher class in person but due to the whole covid situation I had to settle for this. Served its purpose of getting the CE credits but aside from that it was nothing to write home about. read more

Vicki told me the refund process would take 30 days, two months later I'm having to contact them because I'm left with no update from them. She proceeds to tell me that she will send me a email for the refund status and keeps bullshiting. I'm stuck with contacting my bank and disputing the charges. Don't go here, they have different professors every week telling you different things about due dates and it's very confusing. Save your $$ and go else where. read more

UPDATE: The CEO answered my email I sent this morning promptly and said the issue is resolved and that they would use my experience to help customer service in the future. I was registered with them for a class and had to call repeatedly to confirm my registration, then call back to get the online registration information since it was never sent to me and apparently mandatory. During a total of three phone calls I was told two different costs, two different start dates and at one point the woman just hung up on me, later it was claimed that the phone lines when down. I was respectful and forgiving of the issues and kept trying to get the proper info and figure out what I was supposed to do as every person I talked to told me something different. Then when I thought I had it all figured out they canceled the course on Friday, that started Monday. The cancellation was over a text message, I called and asked for a refund and was repeatedly told that they were just going to put me in a another EMT course that did not meet my needs. The operator put me on hold approximately 3 times during that conversation and kept offering me "better deals". Each time I asked for a refund nothing more. I asked to speak to manager and she stated she was the manager, finally she agreed to a refund. Except there is a catch, 30 days minimum wait for my refund. So they held my $2800 with no services rendered. Finally the notification came and said within a five day range I will receive a refund. As of today five days later... I still have no refund, upon calling in about it respectfully, I once again was told management would get back to me sometime today, hasn't happened. My suggestion don't trust this company unless you want to give them an indefinite $3,000 loan and not receive any training. If your in Arizona and needing a boot camp go to UnitekEMT (suggested by friends). If you want to save money and get awesome instruction go to Pelham Training in Bloomfield Indiana. Interactions with the staff yielded concerns, regarding medical professional standards. For further information, please review the following paragraph. During a 24-hour Arizona Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Refresher course, two practical skills proctors considerably modified and guided candidates through practical skills examinations by providing candidates prompts for items that candidates were normally expected to recall and demonstrate, without aid. One proctor appeared to fail to reset one station, and interventions appeared to have been already completed for incoming candidates. Another station did not include any of the proper materials necessary for the candidate to present themselves as a competent EMT. The written examination content consisted of approximately 10 short questions and answers involving patients' having snoring respirations and requiring their airway to be opened via head-tilt chin-lift or manual jaw thrust maneuvers; the examination was 150 questions long; this complaint was initiated in a 2016 course and remained unchanged. Staff presented anecdotes of when they and their medical response teams facilitated "courtesy codes." A particular story was shared by staff in which an older adult was described as not having a DNR order, yet a team member of the staff could apparently sense that the patient no longer wanted to live, so resuscitative efforts were discontinued, during transportation. Even throughout formal presentations, staff appeared to often rely on their own understanding of niche emergency medical technical knowledge, as opposed to focusing on more basic material that might be considered more suitable for an EMT refresher course. For example, staff would speak about interventions that were typically only authorized to be conducted by a paramedic, as opposed to an EMT, and stated confidently that youth were inducing an altered state of mind by smoking bed bugs, when such was demonstrated by other reliable sources as being simply an April Fools joke. Staff verbally presented material as if all of the students present had functioned as prehospital professionals; such was not the case. Most of the instruction time was designated by staff for the students to rehearse practical skills, at their own pace. Students appeared to cease practicing after approximately two hours. During the periods of inactivity, staff did not initiate instruction or actively encourage continued practice. Staff would interrupt students of whom were practicing their skills to speak about matters unrelated to the course. At times, staff arrived and began instruction later than scheduled. Staff allowed students to leave early. Formal CPR recertification consisted of approximately five minutes of instruction and did not involve any written or practical examinations. The organization's slogan is, "We don't follow the standards... We set them!" Interactions with the staff yielded concerns, regarding working in accordance with guidelines for civil rights. For further information, please review the following paragraph. The word "elderly," as opposed to, "older adults," was utilized in the written examination; this complaint was initiated in a 2016 course and remained unchanged. Staff also appeared to demonstrate a lack of tolerance towards masculine types of whom would wear their hair in a bun. Intent has been established, regarding the notification of the Better Business Bureau, the Arizona Department of Health Services, and the press, respectively. read more

It's a scam; a very shady business at the least. Don't give them a cent. Please report to the Federal Trade Commission. Most positive reviews are either fake or anomalies from people who may have been through a course (unless they're all fake). From what I've read and heard, most people's courses get cancelled and they never get their money back. I signed up for a course and their refund policy said I would get my money back in full. I have not. If you're looking to get an EMT cert, go through a real hospital or organization, this one is fake. read more

The only decent thing about this place is some of the instructors. They make the death by PowerPoint somewhat manageable. That being said, the PowerPoints are literally useless. Typically, we would spend most of the day going over them just to be told to read the chapter in our book, which is fine but everything we need for the quizzes and exams is in the book, not the power point. The very first day was a shit show, seemed like nobody knew what they were doing. Spend 6 out of 8.5 hours just sitting around until they could register the 8 people in class. Completely skipped the first day presentation and review. I did my own research into these, in the presentation it states 75% or higher on an exam is passing, and that you have a total of 4 exam fails before you're dropped.... however my classmates and I found out this is false. On the day of the midterm is was verbally expressed that we need an 80% on all exams and after 3 fails we would be dropped. This is my issue, I had 2 exams between the 75% and 80% that now count as me failing. They offer retakes, which are completely pointless because the highest you can receive is an 80%. Throughout the class, a certain instructor would threaten the class with being dropped for the most minor things. For instance, he threaten a student who was literally a minute late, even though he showed up multiple times late. While leaving class one day I was in a car accident, I missed a day and came back to the instructor threatening to drop me. Every day I showed up to class wondering how much of an asshole this guy is going to be today. This place wants your money and looks for any reason to drop you. I reached out to this instructor about the class and he told me to call the 1-800 number, upon doing this, they lady on the phone told me tough shit and whatever the instructor said goes. I asked about reattempting the class since their info is wrong and was told I needed to pay for 1/2 the tuition again.. Money Hungry. This place is garage, if you're considering it, I would recommend GCC's program. They are much more understanding. I loved the instruction and the experience of the instructors.

"WORST 3 HOURS EVER" AND I PAID UPFRONT I found this CPR class on Google I paid up front and scheduled my class which was from 10-12, well first off I'm not too quick to judge I lived in AZ my whole life I get judged enough like any of us, well the instructor was an EMT he says Everytime he went to explaining a subject he always made a reference towards an ethnicity or gender rudely I was so uncomfortable the entire class because it kept happening as if this is who is. He spoke of women's body parts disrespectfully referred to some of the elder women as little old ladies(no one was laughing), he did instruct on the importance of what we need to know but I think he used so much time degrading and talking bad about people and categorizing people based on their color or looks we ran into overtime in the class and were done after 12 not at 12 because the instructor was unfortunately unprofessional!!
