A great little coffee shop and nerd haven. As a comic shop, I'd give them three stars; their selection is smaller than most comic shops. As a gamer haven, I'd give them four stars; they carry most of what's moving now, although they're slowing down on Games Workshop stuff in favor of MTG, Fantasy Flight, and other games. They carry most of what you'd want for RPG gaming; their only real flaw is their small selection. It's not a big shop. But they DO have the essentials you'd be looking for if you want to get started. Great selection of boardgames! Five stars for the coffee and the service. They're open earlier AND later than most shops of this sort. read more

My wife and I have been in about 10 or so times and generally it's been a fine experience. They have a decent selection and I've bought a few board games and RPG supplies. Up to this point, I would have said it was a 3 or 4 star experience, until yesterday when I had the misfortune of meeting the owner. I had looked up the hours of the store and seen they were going to be open until midnight. Unfortunately when my wife and I got there it was posted on the door that they were closing early for New Year's Eve at 4pm (This is fine), I still had about 20 minutes to find what I needed. I proceeded to their D&D supplies and started to pick up a few items I needed and was then approach by the owner. He asked if there was something he could help us with, so my wife asked a few questions, at which point the owner seemed to be annoyed (I assume because he wanted us to leave). My wife then walked off to look at another item while I finished getting my supplies. As I went to get my wife I passed by the owner again, and he asked, quite forcefully "Are you READY to check out?" At which point I said, "Not Quite Yet." My wife and I then went to the counter to get checked out. While waiting the owner was being rude to a customer in front of us and giving inaccurate information. Generally he seemed completely frustrated that his customers wouldn't just leave the store. While checking me out, he then was frustrated because he had to check my license because I don't sign my credit cards. By this point it was perhaps 5 minutes after 4, but the way he acted it was like we had been squatting for hours. I don't think I'm going to go back, I've spent a few hundred dollars here over the last couple of years and though I'm not a regular, I feel like customers in general should be treated better. If I'm going to be treated like that I might as well save money and buy my supplies online. read more

I have been going to enchanted grounds for 2 years off and on. Since day one, I've never liked the service. Recently I had a very negative customer service encounter (the last of many) with the manager Jeff (bald guy). On several occasions he has been somewhat rude and after several experiences enchanted grounds has lost a customer. I have spent hundreds of dollars here and each experience with any staff member has been increasingly unpleasant due to untimeliness, lack of management and overall care for the business. The atmosphere is unwelcoming and elitist. The coffee is mediocre and the selection is the same. If you're a gamer, or a coffee lover, there are many better game shops and much better coffee and friendly staff to be found elsewhere. read more

What a horrible experience. I've been here 3 or 4 times, and I have had ups and downs to this place. I'm a Pathfinder Society person; a board game fan, and a few friends and I have only just gotten back into Magic the Gathering. Whenever we go in, the experience is dependent upon whether or not the owner is also there. The general staff is really nice and helpful whenever I go in, and I really like the idea of a game/coffee shop. However, the owner (some bald guy named Jeff I think, I see his picture below) has made it a point to be as short/unhelpful as possible whenever we enter. We went for a tournament one night - my first ever tournament, mind you - and all he did was yell and put down everyone involved. The next time I came in, 2 friends came along. One of my friends had never been in before and was carrying a Vitamin Water. The owner swiftly came to the table to inform him that he had to leave because of some restaurant licensing issue. On top of this, he was happy to inform us that what we were doing was incredibly rude. My friend had never entered the store before and was being told he was rude. At that point, my friends and I left and will ne'er return. It's a shame. Such great potential and such awful service. In my opinion, I encourage you to visit the shop because it is a nice place and a nice idea, but don't go if it's a Monday/Friday (when the owner is in) because the owner makes the entire experience disappointing. If you're south of Denver, I would seek other options (Collectormania, etc) because there are just much better experiences out there. read more

Board games! Card games! RPG! Puzzles! Comics! Coffee! Cookies! Pastries! Did you ever walk into a place and feel completely at home? As a part-time gamer and full-time coffee drinker, I am enchanted over Enchanted Grounds, indeed. What do I love? -- Friendly staff. -- Bright and well-lit environment -- A good number of electrical outlets so that you can sit and work on your laptop for a bit. -- Good selection of games and puzzles (the comic slection is a little more limited, but still pretty good) -- Smooth coffee -- Sandwiches from Udi's -- Cookies n' stuff from various sources -- "Bottomless" soda refills -- "Lite" coffee flavors That last one needs a bit of explaining. Regular flavored syrups have about 100 calories per serving. The Lite variety that they carry here have only 20 calories per serving. They aren't sugar-free (because they have those flavors, too). Their flavor list is extensive, and I've already tried an Irish Cream and Tiramisu flavored latte. (Both fabulous). Too bad that this place is a bit of a drive for my husband and me. Otherwise, we'd be camped out here all the damn time. read more

I came here to kill some time while waiting to meet up with friends at a nearby restaurant. I didn't want real food, but ordered a strawberry Italian steamer which was just fantastic. I'm normally not one to rave about steamers, but it was truly delicious. Enchanted Grounds caters to gamers, especially D &D and other games. I saw people gathered in groups playing different games. In addition to games, the coffee house also has game paraphernalia for sale. It's a large space inside and they also sell books, possibly comics, geared towards gaming as well. They also offer sandwiches, pastries, chips and other food items and of course, coffee. There's free Wi-Fi too, so I was able to hang out and read for an hour or so uninterrupted. It's an interesting place and if I am ever in the neighborhood (which I am since I have friends who live in the adjacent neighborhood), I will stop by again without hesitation. read more

My family and I are avid board game enthusiasts visiting from out of town. We visited on Sunday morning around 10:30 and found a number of games that we wanted to add to our collection. Just one of the games was 80.00. That doesn't include the My Little Ponies DD book and the several sets of dice that we were going to buy as well. After a long wait because of a coffee rush, my husband waited for the line to go down and then asked for assistance at the game counter. Instead of getting in kind of positive feedback we were told the employee was a little busy and would just get to us when he could. It didn't matter that there were two employees doing the coffee and no line. They were too busy to help us spend over 100.00 at there store. The 7.00 dollar cup of coffee was far more important. The owners may want to revisit their business model and if coffees what's important then stick to that and leave board game sells to the stores that actually have passion for this hobby and community. I'm happy to be going home to Grand Junction and my game store, Board Fox Games. They sell coffee too, but their games take priority! read more

Their coffee drinks are well made and have a nice rich flavor. It's more of a gaming store with a coffee shop attached than the other way around. They have all kinds of table games for sale, as well as community tables for groups to play. Very nice environment overall. read more

I have been going to EG since it opened. I'm not a gamer, but whenever I have gone in to buy coffee, games or chai, I have been helped very efficiently, and greeted by friendly staff 100% of the time. Their drinks are excellent, and they have fabulous pastries too... I highly recommend the chocolate chip scone, or orange cranberry muffin cookie! YUM! They have late hours compared to other coffee shops (probably because they cater to the gaming crowd), and interesting games and puzzles. I'm considering buying Dixit, which is a French-designed story-telling game, but haven't decided yet. I have gone in around the holidays to purchase gifts, and was helped one on one by Jeff, the owner, who was very patient and helpful to me in explaining the different games. We ventured into Enchanted Grounds on New Year's Eve to purchase a fair amount of D&D materials in preparation for an upcoming campaign (my first!) As we walked in I noticed a sign on the front door explaining that they'd be closing at 4p. I mentioned this to my husband because it was 3:45p when we entered. He was confused, since he'd read online (he *thought* on their web site, that the store was open until midnight on NYE but closed early on Christmas Eve). Regardless, the store was full of gamers, some still playing, so we headed to the D&D section to find what we needed. The owner, the bald guy, approached and asked if we needed help. I asked a question about a certain item, which he politely answered, and then returned to the counter. I wandered off to check out the rest of the store. On my way back to my husband, he passed near the counter and the owner asked pointedly "Are you ready to check out?" It was a few minutes before 4p and while I understand that the business was closing, the store was still full of people loitering, it was obvious that my husband wanted to look at the single miniatures, and he had $75 worth of merchandise in his arms. I like the concept and the ambiance of this unique brick and mortar too much to drop my rating down a star, but I would really appreciate consideration of customer service in the future. I managed a comic book and gaming store; I know the ropes, and I know that a $75 sale is more than a drop in the bucket for most of these places. With so many others loitering, a few extra minutes to browse and courtesy towards our patronage would have been much appreciated. read more

This place is a rare gem among the sifted rubble of big-name chain coffee shops littering the south Denver suburbs. Comprised of a full-service coffee shop, a comic book store, a better-than-most board game shop carrying hard to find games and classics alike, a trading post and tournament site for M:TG players old and new, and a gathering spot for social gaming, club gatherings, and a book exchange. I love the chai here, and I can appreciate the gameporium atmosphere that genuinely reverbs on weekends and game nights. The management and staff are always friendly and engaging, they know their customer base well and they take care to cater to that base in both retail and service. Can't think of a better place for a cup of coffee and a game or two. read more

What a fun place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea! Every time I have been the staff is so friendly and welcoming. There are large tables for big groups to come and play board/card games together, smaller tables for coffee dates, and cozy chairs for people there just to enjoy the atmosphere or get some work done. I LOVE THIS PLACE. While studying for my CPA exam, I came here initially because of the free wifi. I stayed for the comfortable uncrowded atmosphere, plentiful tables, and absolutely incredible iced coffee. Seriously. Do NOT miss their iced coffee. I have no words for this stuff. I've never tried anything else as good. Just sayin. Also, I'm not into gaming at all, but still loved the vibe in this place, and kind of appreciated that I wasn't distracted by conversations at other tables, since I had zero idea what they were talking about. I could hang out here all damn day. Great coffee with special attention paid to foam creaminess that I miss at most coffee places these days. Plus, board games for sale, and store associates who are all about finding you the perfect figurine for your only slightly shameless unicorn-themed D&D campaign. Unleash your inner geek! I finally tried this place out after I found out it was more for gamers than for comic book fans. So glad I finally did! The tables are filled with people playing every sort of new, funky board game out there. Want to give one a try? Ask an employee for one from the list, or they will bring a pile out for you so you can look at them and decide. Or bring your own games! We can hang out here for hours just playing. Old folks, young ones -- it doesn't matter. AND they are open late on the weekend so that you can do this instead of going bar hopping. There are special events, like Heroclix night, Star Wars X-Wing night, etc -- so you can learn one of those games or participate in a tournament (I believe there is a buy-in to do so). And they are a good coffee shop, too -- so we can enjoy treats. If you get there early enough on a Saturday, you can try one of the special donuts (I've never gotten there early enough) and I like the unlimited tea cup (the Red Rocks tea is yummers). In the same strip mall, there is a sushi place and a Mexican place, so you can grab lunch or dinner, then wander into Enchanted Grounds for an afternoon/evening of gaming. Go try something new! The only downside is that they need more tables and chairs on some nights. :) The games aren't discounted, so a lot of the newer ones are really expensive. But the fact that you can try them first is a bonus, and they carry a lot of unusual ones. read more

So what reviews do you give to a local place that is a nice space but where the employees are absolutely arrogant rude jerks? We have literally been drinking coffee here every Saturday for a year, buy gifts here, bring friends. The service was always "fine" but hardly friendly. Today we had a big party and apparently we triggered some one. We used too many chairs, we moved tables (gasp) we were generally treated like our orders were inconvenient and interrupted them. After today we (8 of us) will not bother them again. I like local businesses but being insulted is a step too far. Bye. read more

I love a good coffee shop and am pretty picky about what constitutes a good one. Enchanted Grounds is by all means one of the best out there! The vibe/atmosphere is what makes Enchanted Grounds so great. This coffee shop doubles as a gaming shop. You can purchase pretty much any game imaginable here (and we have done so when looking for an out of the ordinary game) and they provide large tables for you to set up games and play with your fellow friends! Awesome. I also work from home in the summers so often take my computer here and it is quiet enough to get work done while being entertaining enough with all the gamers about to make life enjoyable. Coffee is good too (not the greatest...but honestly the reason to go here is the atmosphere). Thank you enchanted grounds for providing such an awesome concept in a coffee shop. Loved it. Before I go on too much, let me preface this with the statement that I went to this store's predecessor (also named Enchanted Grounds) in Aurora a lot when I was in high school. This store is under new ownership (they bought the name) but has a similar theme (coffee shop + gaming store). Let me get back to the review now. First, it's a nice coffee shop. The coffee was really tasty - very smooth & mellow - and the food looked good too. I just say looked because I wasn't hungry at the time. The service was great too. There's quite a few tables in the coffee shop area that are separate from the gaming store section (which has separate large tables) but I imagine the tables are used for gaming too on busy nights. Now, as far as the game section goes, it's very well stocked. I'd say it's about 1/4 traditional family games & puzzles, 1/4 comic books, 1/4 tabletop role-playing books, and 1/4 enthusiast board games. (Enthusiast board games are games that have more detailed rules and less reliance on luck than "normal" family board games; they're usually targeted at adults & teens.) Actually, they also have a lot of collectible card game stuff too, which would be another 1/4... but that makes 5/4. Hmm. At any rate, they have a lot of stuff. They also host game tournaments and such if you like that sort of thing. As you can tell by my rating, I really liked this place. Will definitely be back. Many times. read more

I had the same experience that Neil had. I have been to enchanted grounds over 5 times. Every time I go-as long as the manager not working it's a decent experience. Unfortunately every time I go he seems to be working- he talks to people with extreme disrespect. At one Magic The Gathering event he told a large group of Magic players to STFU. That being said, I would never recommend this place to anyone who doesn't like to be disrespected or insulted on a regular basis. read more

Coffee and games, what a cool concept! EG is a fun and unusual hybrid, combining a coffee shop with gaming and collectables. The coffee is pretty good. My first, and thus far only, selection (Tiramisu Mocha) proved tasty. I'd rank it above average. Perhaps it just wasn't my flavor for coffee drink but it sounded so intriguing. On the gaming side of things, they had a very solid array of card games, RPGs, dice, miniatures and board games. In all forthrightness, there may be a few categories I've overlooked. Their inventory is a lot to take in while waiting for a drink. Suffice it to say, if any non-video gaming is in your wheelhouse, this is probably a (if not THE) place to go. The employees are friendly and the space ample for spreading out a few textbooks to research a paper or sit across from an opponent with a deck of MTG cards for a rousing game. I really dig the concept of this enterprise. Though the coffee didn't wow me, it was good enough that I want to give them another go to support this neat niche business. read more

This place seems like it shouldn't exist - an independent store in Highlands Ranch? A coffee shop? A coffee shop/game emporium? It all just seems improbable. But it works. It serves the function of the coffee shop as community gathering place. Lots of seating, most of it comfy. Lots of table space for gaming or chatting. Great coffee and drinks, and food to keep you going. While this is Geek Central, there's other kinds of groups who gather here - bridge clubs, writers' groups, book clubs. You'll also see telecommuters coming in for a bit of company (and, unfortunately, yapping on their cell phones). It's a surprising oasis in Highlands Ranch. Check it out. read more

Enchanted Grounds is not just a coffee shop that sells games, it's a great place to have community meetings or just plain work. I enjoy the atmosphere when I want to get out and away from my normal surroundings. It's a rather large place where the community comes and goes all day long. I'm not a coffee drinker, but do enjoy their Chai. They also serve juice and energy drinks so one isn't obliged to drinking coffee. Been here more times than I can count now. their coffee is Great, no question about that. They have a ton of organized game play, D&D, Pathfinder, Warmachine, Warhammer, Magic the Gathering and more. The have enough stuff to support those games and more. As for it being a game store, it's great. It doesn't have that dusty looking gym sock smell that most Game/RPG stores have, and the bathrooms are clean too! This is my favorite game store in the Denver area, and probably Colorado. I never had a problem with any of the staff there they are all friendly. read more
