I have been frustrated with the local Shell car wash at Leucadia and el Camino, as the man who takes cars in always pushes HARD and repeatedly to upsell me on more than I want. It was a pleasure to instead return to this nearby one today! They were polite, took my order for the lowest price wash with NO Upsell or argument ! And did a quick and fabulous job - on cleaning ! Lousy work. I bought the "full car wash", which includes full vacuuming and car wash. After the wash, the car still showed stains, including soap stripes ALL OVER THE CAR! I had to send the car back for the vacuuming and after that, it was presented to me like NOTHING WAS DONE. I was unable to watch the vacuuming as my car was brought around the corner. I've been coming here for 5 years and I trust them to do a good job inside and out. The last thing anyone wants is damage to their car after going through the conveyor and having hand towel service that causes scratches. They have a very efficient system in a very busy area. Love the little cafe inside! It's come a long way from where they started! Awesome coffees and smoothies. Highly recommend. You may wait a bit mid day, but it's worth it. This place is TERRIBLE!!! I got the "GOLD" wash. My car is literally cleaner after running it thru the wash at a gas station. The interior was actually dirtier after the "wash" because they stood in the inside the door to dry the roof even tho it was too late and it was all water spotted. I came home and spent about a half hour cleaning and vacuuming my car after paying $18.99 (they charged $1 extra so they could NOT clean my very small suv). I feel stupid for tipping them. This place is horrible! I should have done it myself, waste of money and time! They did a horrible job on vacuuming the car out and wiping it down. When I opened back doors to see how the back looked the mats had water on them and I had to shake them out and ask for a rag! The guy then dried it for me and threw them back in the car. Quick, convenient, and professional. I have been coming to this place for over a decade. You can trust my review. This isn't a 5 star resort. So of course they won't hold your towel while you're in the bathroom. But as a car wash business, you will not be disappointed. The car washes generally range from $13 upwards to expensive custom washes. The basic wash is consistent. They begin by vacuuming your car. Then your car will be brought through an automatic car wash machine, similar to a gas station's, but a lot longer and more intricate. Then they hand dry the exterior, personally and individually wash each of your windows and the scrub the interior with cleaner. Your tires and wheels/rims will be washed, cleaned, scrubbed, and dried for that new car finish. Car scents are available upon request for a fee. Card and cash are both accepted. Make sure to leave a tip since these people work hard and fast and try to get you your as soon as possible so you can continue on with your day. For the price, this place is definitely worth it. If you only knew how filthy dirty my car was you'd be screaming "thorough" too! I've got kids.... two small children... and my partner is a bit of a pig... So after 2 mos of "just throw it on the floor and we'll deal with it later" I finally said "ENOUGH!" Well I didn't actually say it.. I thought it really loud! :-\ So at lunchtime I head over to Encinitas Car Wash on El Camino Real and pulled into the driveway.... Immediately this mexican dude was flagging me to move forward.. "I'm not ready yet." (I kept saying out loud... with my windows rolled up. duh.) "I'M NOT READY YET!" And STILL with the flagging.. (hard sell) do I look like an airplane to you? I reluctantly gave in. The choices on their price board were so unnerving and confusing.. you have 6 prices available and if you do this today you get $5.00 off, but since your an SUV you get $1.50 added, or you can get a hand job for $149.. and we have to do your butt.. (my butt?) I think he meant my "back" or "trunk".... And yet I didn't want my butt done! I was good--thankyouverymuch. then it dawns on me.... "oh, you mean do the inside of my back hatch?!" "okay.... cool.... but how much?" "You can have any of those things on the board.... and the extra's to the right...." (I'm thinking to myself) "No... I don't want the regular (approx $10.99).... I don't want the silver (approx $15.99).... or the gold plan (approx $19.99)... I don't want them with the extra focus... $34.99, $44.99, $54.99 respectively... Can I just get the $24.00 job? and please, please, vacuum and wipe the interior? And you don't have to touch my... uhem.. "butt." (nervous chuckle) He said "good..." then scrawled something illegible on my ticket and handed it over... When I got to the gal inside, she swiped my card and wrang me up at $14.00. "OH shit..." (I'm thinking) I wanted the $24.00 job.. too late now.... just take it.... and don't expect it to be clean.... :-( Well, about 10-15 minutes later my car comes through the machine wash and then fussed over by 3 hand washers... (again, I'm thinking) "WOW.. they're spending a great deal of time on my car.. Perhaps they misunderstood what I paid for?" (sneaky smile appears on my face.) Another guy comes over and moves my car to a parking space and wipes it over again!? WTF? Its shiny, its windows are clear.... the muck inside from 2 months worth of coffee, milk, milkshakes and fries are all gone.... And I don't smell ASS! (It wasn't "Johnny ass" immaculate... but it was muuuuuuuuuuch cleaner :-) All I could say was "wow." I'm impressed.. They THOROUGHLY cleaned my car and did a good wiped down as well all for $14.00! These guys are usually pretty awesome but here's what I've learned: Monday - Thursday, they're awesome. You can try to squeeze in before 10am on a Friday before they get busy / lazy with their weekend rush but you NEVER want to come during the weekend. These guys work hard, I know - but when you spend $20+ on a car wash, you do not expect to pick up to your car with a bunch of water marks and areas that still need wiping down. And don't get upset if I ask that you wipe those areas down again. I usually tip well but for the attitude I was given, they were not deserving of the extra tip I'm usually very happy to hand over. 5 stars always for the very friendly cashiers! read more

I pulled up and was instructed to go inside to pay my fee to have the car washed. I was greeted by a young woman behind the counter. "How you doing?" "Average." "Average? Really? What's that about?" "I'm stuck in this building. No air circulation. And all of those chemicals. It's giving me a headache. I need to go home. But I can't." I paid my bill and went outside to wait for my car. Outside, there were a number of people--young men sitting alone, a grandmother with her young granddaughter, eating lunch like they were at a picnic location. It all felt very festive in a strange sort of way. I thought about the woman inside and the fact that she was miserable and I had not really done anything about it except pay and wish her a good day. I was at this carwash far from home because I had not had much luck in La Jolla. I bought a car here, and other than one incredibly unsatisfying car wash experience in La Jolla I have chosen not to wash my car because I haven't found that place that really cleans your car. I had bird-poop on the inside of my car where some bastard rat with wings had managed to drop a turd in my car when I had the windows open, so it was time to venture back in to the car washing experience. Then I found Encinitas Car Wash. It's the classic full-service car wash, right out of the movie by the same name. Pull up, pay up, and wait for the car to come out of the wash and then be scrubbed and dried clean by a group of hard-working young men. I gave them $5 for the extra work cleaning the door. As an aside, the UN agency that tracks this stuff said the global death toll from work-related incidents and disease was an estimated 2.2 million a year. I wonder if the woman I met might one day fall in to that category. In the US, homicide was the #2 cause of death--big surprise--but all of those chemicals . . . My car was very clean. I would highly recommend Encinitas Car Wash. And if you see the young lady behind the counter, take the time to actually ask her how she is doing. . . read more

My favorite car wash! You cant beat the price, for 12 dollars my car is super clean. I even forgive them for speaking Spanish about me not realizing i understood every bad thing they said. Two faced service but good, fast and efficient people here. In case you are wondering, i tip very well. The employees thought i walked away with my car keys not realizing i placed them on the roof for them and i heard a girl and a guy saying to each other "where did that dumb lady go, she is so lame she didn't give us her keys" (in Spanish) --lol. I have been a loyal customer for years, but they really did me a disservice the other day. Before reading this post, I want to inform you that I gave the manager an opportunity to rectify this situation, and instead he had this ridiculous smirk on his face and refused to hold himself accountable for the damage that THE CAR WASH did to my car. I brought my car for a wash, and when it was returned to me, the passenger side mirror was completely gone. The individuals who cleaned my car were all smiling and laughing and in a hurry to get rid of me, AFTER accepting the tip I handed them, KNOWING that they damaged my car. Before leaving the premises, I asked the employees what happened to my mirror. They played dumb and said "oh, was it there before?" knowing very well that it was their car wash that caused my mirror to fall off and shatter, resulting in a replacement I had to get that cost well over $150. They left and after five minutes came back with my mirror in hand, completely cracked. They told me that they are not responsible for "loose" car parts, as their sign indicated. I understood that completely, as I read all the signs before coming in. What I don't understand is how my mirror came off, as my car, INCLUDING THE MIRRORS, was in excellent condition when I brought it to get a wash. They taped the now shattered mirror back in place, and basically told me it wasn't their fault. All the manager did was gave me a measly certificate for a free wash the next visit, which is completely useless because I'm not coming back. When questioning the manager, SERGIO, about how my mirror got blown off, he said it happens all the time. Ok, if it happens all the time, don't you think there's a problem with your machine? And now it is my responsibility to get it fixed, and you're not going to be a good businessman and compensate me for the damage that YOU caused? I called the manager a day later, and he ADMITTED that he saw the mirror fly off while the car was getting washed, YET he tried to get away with it when him and his staff returned my car to me with a mirror completely missing. Terrible service, I do not recommend going there unless you want to be frustrated and have your car returned to you in a different condition than you brought it. What's more frustrating is that I have been a loyal customer for years, and their farce of a staff tried to take advantage of a small, young woman, damaged my car, and then didn't even hold themselves accountable. As a law student, I read about cases like this all the time, but usually the business owners are not as ignorant as they were at this establishment. Please do yourselves a favor and avoid this at all costs, and make sure you tell everyone you know to avoid this establishment, as it is merely but a joke. read more

Came with her my buddy while he was running errands yesterday. He came here to get his car washed, what an experience. When you first pull in, the guys in the vacuum area are very friendly. Then you go inside to pay for your wash and the woman at the cash register is also very kind. Then you wait for your car to be finish, get in, and go. Or so it seemed. We got in the car to leave after the wash and dry were done, and the first thing we noticed is a long deep wavy scratch on the inside of the passenger side window. The "manager" comes over as he notices us looking at the newly found gash in the window. All he could do is keep reassuring us it was there already. No, sir, it was not. Wasn't offered a refund, a coupon, a free wash, nothing. Now my friend was a nice deep slash in his window and nothing to help the bitter taste of the lies we received from the workers here. Well, it's a car wash... Lol. Sometimes I stop by here to get a gold wash early on the weekends because it's conveniently located across the street from The Naked Cafe. This place gets the job done, but don't expect to be "wow'd" by their service or quality of work. Everytime I get my car back, there are always several spots missed and tons of dust still on the interior. Well, it is what it is and I don't think you can expect all that much from a car wash like this. A gold wash is about $20, but you can often find coupons on the back of receipts from places like Vons etc... That will usually yield you about $2 off of your wash. read more

I really like this spot. I was going to Coast Car Wash in Oside for the longest time. Only reason being is bc id get coupons that would cut $2.00 off a... Ummmm... I think $12.99 wash. Nothing against the folks there but I can def tell the difference between Coast And Encinitas. First off Encinitas car wash is not expensive. The wash I'd get there was $12.99 and here it's $15.99. Never again, I went to this car wash for the last time this week. After I gave the guy my receipt and tip I got in my car and noticed the following: - they missed things while vacuuming -they didn't wipe down the dash or center gear shift area -they didn't wipe down the area in between the doors and the seat -some of the exterior windows were spotty I pulled back over to the vacuum area and told he Manager of the issues I found.
