Encinta has brought us a great alternative. We feel healthier, and well taken care.

I went here on May 3rd after struggling with symptoms for several months and not finding much…read morerelief elsewhere. The process was definitely different from a regular doctor visit, but honestly, it was a really interesting experience. Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. If you use the prescription and 2nd time you only pay for the tea of $85. They take credit cards but there is a $6 transaction fee.

The line was out the door & it took about an hour to be seen by the doctor. It is $20 CASH for the…read moreconsultation & he asks to check your wrist pulse & your tongue. He then writes a prescription on a piece of paper & uses his phone to translate the diagnosis. It took less than 5 minutes. Then you go the herbalist staff at the front counters & they give you the pricing for the treatment & you can decide if you want to do it or not. The treatment was $100 for mines & $90 for my moms. They take about 30 mins to prep the herbs & roots then explain the procedure & the process of how to make the teas. Cool experience! Tbh I did not drink the teas and my mom did, she said she felt like it gave her some energy.

Big thanks to the ladies working at the Torrance location. I walked in today for the first time…read more One asked if I needed help, I said I didn't, it was my first time. She then gave me a quick tour of the store that I didn't ask for--but actually probably needed, I found the meat rubs right away. Then I was browsing spices, around my third smelling of Tsardust I heard a voice over my shoulder "It's really good in stews"--I had been wondering if it would be good in something rich like a pasta. Advice that I didn't ask for--but actually probably needed. She then gave me some additional advice about some other mixes I had been interested in. Even though I'm not the type to normally ask for help, both people minding the store were really helpful and pleasant. I'll definitely come back for chili and soup bases in the fall. The spices and the staff were both great.

I decided to make my own homemade Italian & Breakfast Sausage using Ground Chicken & Ground Turkey. Penzeys was the place to go to make this dream come true. I can't wait. The store is always spotless and the customer service is awesome. I was greeted with a smile before I completely entered the building. The staff was very attentive and helped me find my spices and also updated my email so I could get their current promotions. I can't wait to use my "Free" Vanilla Extract. I was also able to get their seasoning spice and paprika for only two dollars each. If you are someone that loves trying new recipes and using spices, try Penzeys. I highly recommend it.

Never knew such a respected herbalist store was so close to our home. My wife and I stopped in on…read morethe first day of H2 2026, and found a lot of interesting things, some of which we bought and others we will save for later. Kelly helped us to gather and purchase three things: small dried chinese ginseng root ($9), Herbal Tea Blend ($6) to hopefully remediate canker sore symptoms, and a custom made herbal oil ($20) for natural pain management. She spent quite a bit of time with us, since the last two things needed the backroom to custom formulate. Square is their payment processor, with credit cards and Venmo being accepted. Types of product: -- a large collection of herbs, available as single ($10 per oz) or combined ($15 per oz). -- donated herbs and dry goods section: visitors can place or take shelf-stable products. Would have thought -- collective: various donation based sponsored clinics/classes. one example is 'Intro to Herbalism', taught once a month (first Saturday of every month). -- chocolates from Endorfin foods -- custom made essential oils, with testers -- incense sticks and sets -- loose teas at $3 - $4 per oz -- books and literature -- apothecary supplies -- gemstones and tarot cards The inside is super organized, promoting a sense of calm to explore. Kinda reminded me of some of the shops in Sedona, AZ. Their website is also very good, neatly organized to help you find what you need. Parking is limited (one driveway spot for customers), but street parking in the area during the day is not so bad. I think the best description about their business is what they wrote about themselves: "Green Wisdom provides highest quality bulk herbs, ethically sourced, and apothecary ingredients and supplies. We have a skilled herbalist on staff at all times to answer questions, create personalized formulas, and offer assistance. We are also one of the most respected herb schools in California, offering apprenticeships, workshops, and individual classes. In 2020 we will be providing donation-based herb clinics staffed by our advanced apprentices and overseen by trained herbalists."

This is the only herbal apothecary in the area that I'm aware of and it's also one of the few affordable apothecaries in Long Beach. You can tell their mission is really to make herbal remedies and medicine from the earth accessible to everyone. All of the women I've encountered who work at and run this door are deeply knowledgeable. My favorite activity is to go here with some type of issue or ailment and to ask them to make me a custom tea blend to help support my body's healing capacity. But this place is so much more than tea and herbs! It's a lovely little marketplace which features crystals locally made honey and handmade trinkets of all kinds! Every visit feels like a unique, tiny adventure and I look forward to coming every single time.

Today…read moreI was doing my monthly Rosie Bunny Bean run, hadn't had my morning kombucha and decided to stop in. I was promptly greeted by Marcy - she's amazing btw! I asked her how things worked and she explained it all. The kefir/kombucha bottles are $4 for 16 oz and they have 3 of each on tap. I asked Marcy about one before realizing everything had a QR code and you can easily pull up the ingredients and descriptions/directions for each item. I'm getting away from plastics and this place scratches me right where I itch! They sell just about anything you can imagine! I was so impressed w the selection! They even have produce and fresh sourdough bread! The day old is 50% off and I'm so mad I was in a pinch and had to buy store bought bread, otherwise I would've tried it today. I can't say enough. Even the music was fire and I was shazaming and jamming. Shower gels, body care, non seed oils, baking mixes, laundry pods and things you see in bulk at like Sprouts, but the quality and sourcing seems to be better. Some items don't need jars and they sell paper bags for .10 each. I did a kombucha/kefir tasting. Marcy brought these steel bowls over. No waste at all! If you drink the POG kefir soda at Erewhon and love it, try it here! It's made w fruit and is noticeably better! And POG there is my fave. Just try it at Re_!!! So when I was checking out I asked Marcy about being more prepared and bringing my own glasses next time. They've thought of everything!!!! There's iPads and scales in the front of the store. They weigh your empty containers and give you a sticker with the tare weight and then subtract it from the weight at the end! Revolutionary! They add 3% for the employees. I should've added more. Marcy was amazing and worth it. I'm honestly not big on tipping everyone for just breathing but if all the employees are like Marcy, they are worth way more than 3%! If you sign up you get 100 points instantly, $1 = 1 pt, and at 200 pts you get $10! It's not hard to spend in places like this but it's beyond worth it. I keep seeing things about the harms of plastic and don't get me started on all the other crap in our food. I foresee this as a new staple in my diet and home. They even have cleaning products! I'm getting my spices here from now on too! I'm a fan and I'll be back! Thank you Marcy and to the owners that had this amazing idea!
