Our guide Josh is a SF native and simply the best guy giving 200% to help visitors share his pride in this magnificent city. You visit the various barrios (e.g., Mission, Haight, Castro, civic center, golden gate park, etc.) learning about their history & challenges due to gentrification. This is what I really appreciated from Josh...his native viewpoint on what's happening to hs city with all the tech worker riches. 2) On the next day we returned for their Golden Gate bridge & Sausalito bike ride....this time Staci led us across the most famous bridge in the world (??). Again, WONDERFUL....her detour past the Palace of Fine Arts was really appreciated too. But the ride isn't all you get, his shop had available sunscreen (NO charge....where will you find that) and spare wind breakers for tourists like me who underdress for the chill SF winds). And once your ride end there are the local restaurant & bar guides for free to plan the rest of your stay ---and avoid tourist trap rip-offs. So, instead of our usual family trip to another country or state this summer, we decided to become tourists in our own backyard and booked an eight-hour San Francisco Alcatraz + City Tour, including Muir Woods and Sausalito. The tour cost $179 per adult (nine of us) and $169 for one child, and we even booked a hotel nearby the night before to make sure we'd be on time for our 9am start. We all met beneath the iconic Fisherman's Wharf sign, where Patrick was our guy! Patrick was knowledgeable, witty, and engaging--he kept us entertained with fascinating facts about San Francisco, fun trivia questions, and even handed out Ghirardelli chocolate as prizes. My man and I answered so many questions that we ended up with almost half the bag! Even though we were a bit hungover from pub crawling the night before, Patrick's energy kept us awake and involved. He thoughtfully included the three kids in our group, telling them to count Priuses on the street and quizzing them with their own set of trivia. Along the way, he pointed out some quirky facts, like there being more dogs than babies in San Francisco, and made sure everyone felt part of the experience. Patrick pointed out several billionaires' homes, as well as highlights like Chinatown and Japantown. We made a memorable stop at the Presidio and Fort Point for stunning views and photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Patrick even volunteered to take group pictures for us and made sure we had time for restroom breaks. After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, we made our way to Muir Woods. Though we only had an hour and a half--just enough time for my older siblings--my man and I left wanting more, wishing we could explore beyond the designated paths. The towering redwoods, some between 400 and 800 years old, were awe-inspiring. I'm sure there were even more breathtaking sights we didn't have a chance to see. Next, Patrick took us on a drive through Sausalito, pointing out popular restaurants and an old recording studio once frequented by celebrities. After dropping off a few tourists, he guided us to the starting point for our Alcatraz Tour and left us at Fisherman's Wharf for lunch. We felt a little sad knowing it was the last time we'd see him--at that point, we were on our own for the rest of the adventure. Although I've visited San Francisco many times--unlike my siblings--I still learned so much from the tour. We all had a great time, even my man who lived in the city for several years. While I initially thought the price was steep, by the end of the day, it felt completely worth it!

All of the equipment seemed well maintained and I had no issues with it throughout my tour. Joey was the tour guide for me and the six others in our group. Joey was knowledgeable about San Francisco and it's history as he provided numerous bits of information at each stop along our route. The views were great although we got a foggy day so never had a full view of the bridge. The weather was great and I was comfortable in a sweatshirt although the drive across the bridge was way colder than I expected! I felt that this tour is well worth the price and it was nice to have a stress free experience being guided throughout the city and across the bridge. Sausalito is also a very cute town with tons of dining options. When the tour ends, you are left to explore on your own and just have to get your bike back before closing time. I prepaid for a ferry ticket (Sausalito back to San Fran) when I booked my reservation. Unfortunately, they forgot to give me the voucher when I left for the tour so I had to purchase my own ticket on the ferry and obtained a refund upon my return. It was $8.25 to buy my ticket for the ferry (includes your bike) but they charged $18.00 online. I consider it a win. I am super glad I rented an e-bike because there is no way I would have made the tour on a pedal bike. It was a pretty long distance with a few big hills. I would say you have to be an avid biker to be able to pull it off although the employees insist people do it all the time.

They are professional, very friendly, and do whatever in their power to make sure everyone in the group is safe. I can't recall the lady guides name, but she's originally from Ireland years ago. She was so kind with my fight with the bike and came up with the alternative to ride shotgun. There was a seat with a upside down U to hold on to. There were a few issues along the way with a bike or two, but they fixed it quickly. I highly recommend them and would give them a 10+ if I could!

My group opted for the all day electric bike rentals. It was a great choice for the hills and going across the super windy gold gate bridge. We were fitted with helmets and bikes quickly. Even given a quick practice to test out the e bikes. I didn't get fitted properly to my bike. I had a hard time practicing because the seat was so low my legs would bend up into my stomach. After adjustment, we were off on our own down the streets and hills into Sausalito. I think for the price, it's a good place to get rental bikes for the day.

It was very easy to book online on their website. We were a group of 12. It was $27.5 for each of us. If you have 14 people you would get a deal for $25 a person, and the whole bike would be yours. Our "driver," Travis was real nice and laid back. We didn't go too far, but it was more for the experience. It lasts about 2-2.5 hours. We biked to 3 different breweries, and hung out at each for about 30 mins. It was fun! I would definitely do it again!

There are seatbelts for each chair, but none of us really used them (oops). They also have an aux cord, so you can play your music while pedaling! We met our tour guide at Independent Brewing Company. He was very friendly and considerate that we were a little late. Before we got started, he asked what type of drinks we were interested in. He took us Seawolf first, then Slainte and we finished at Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon. All were great choices although Slainte was my favorite. Neat Irish tavern with people playing live music inside. Heinold's was a little small and claustrophobic, but they are known for their beer. When we returned to our vehicle after the second bar, our tour guide came in clutch and stocked our cup holders with pretzels and water. Please don't forget to tip your tour guides! The tour was about 2 hours long. No, drinks are not included in the fee. But this was a fun way to get around the neighborhood, drink, laugh, dance, sing, and overall just be together with friends. It was my first time and I thought it would be cheesy but it was engrossing and informative. + Restrooms were very clean and not crowded (at least not the guy's restroom). + There are some truly AMAZING views of the bay. Bring a travel-safe camera. Neutral: ~ There's restrictions on food and drink (only bottled water is allowed in the majority of the park). So plan ahead. ~ San Francisco traffic is real and kinda sucks. Plan ahead for delays. ~ A good portion of the park is outdoors (which isn't a negative but means that it's impacted by the weather). It gets super windy so plan ahead and dress appropriately. Cons: - The price is indeed a little high. I don't think I'd go here all the time. Once every couple years is probably fine. - A friend told me that there's a LOT of bird poop around and they were right. It's not enough to impact walking but does detract from the experience slightly.

Poor Service Experience with Alcatraz City Cruises…read more I'm writing this review to share my experience with the company's customer service, specifically around their cancellation policy. We were excited to book a trip through Alcatraz City Cruises on 6/16/26. Unfortunately, a family emergency forced me to cancel our trip to San Francisco, including this tour. I cancelled through the confirmation link in my email on 6/19 -- well within the 72-hour window required for a full refund, since the event itself wasn't until 6/26. The website showed my reservation as cancelled, so I stepped away to deal with the family emergency. In my rush, I never went back to check for a separate cancellation confirmation email, since the site had already shown the cancellation as complete. That was my mistake -- but it led to a frustrating outcome: I was charged for the tickets on the day of the event anyway. I didn't catch the charge until I reviewed my bank statement at the start of the following month. I called four times and couldn't reach a live person. When I finally got through to a representative, my request for a refund was denied. I asked again for the decision to be reviewed, but the agent refused, saying they would not look into it further. I understand that not confirming the cancellation via email was an oversight on my part. But the website clearly showed the reservation as cancelled, and we never used the tickets. Given that the cancellation was initiated well within the refund window, I would have expected more flexibility from customer service -- not an automatic denial. Dissapointed in this company and would not book through them again. Unfortantely, they did come up as one of the recommended companies to book through due to other scams and fake sites, but beware
