I so badly wish I could give Endodontic Associates Dental Group more than five (5) years here because they deserve so much more. Similar to the various levels of play in basketball (NBA compared to the G league), there's levels to endodontics. These folks are the NBA hall of famers. Melissa and Adora - the Scottie Pippen of their respective field - calmed my nerves, answered my many questions, and took care of me like one of their own. Dr. Savani - the Michael Jordan of her profession - made what's usually a daunting and nerve-racking procedure a pleasant experience. She was surgical with her actions; she was tactical with her decisions; and she was efficient with everything she did. She did the entire procedure with humor for how awful my teeth are; empathy for how much was teeth was hurting prior to her treatment; and simply put, she's the best. My husband was referred to this endodontist from a dentist two weeks ago. The dentist he seen had found he had an abscess/infection and sent all necessary info to this office. Of course we did not receive a call from this office so my husband reached out and to his surprise, didn't know anything. My husband had to explain everything he needed over the phone. He was then booked out two weeks and suppose to have an appt today, meanwhile I mentioned he has an infection right? Clearly not that important to care for patients. Day before appt, my husband is so happy to get things rolling after being in pain for weeks to receive a call the day before that his insurance does not cover this and it will be $330 just for the consultation................. If you knew he was on the books, knew his insurance information and the severity of the situation, why did you wait the day before to do all of this? Now we are back to square one with an infection because this place lacks customer care. Sure hope nothing turns for the worse with my husband's health. read more

When my dentist referred me to Endodontic Associates Dental Group for an urgent root canal, my anxiety went through the roof. Honestly, I didn't even realize there was a separate specialist for root canals -- I always thought they were done right at the dentist's office. I was in so much pain and incredibly nervous about the procedure. From the moment I walked into the office, the front staff was warm, welcoming, and helped ease my nerves a little. Fast forward to the procedure: Dr. Yu was simply amazing. I work in healthcare, so I know how important bedside manner is -- and while I wasn't in a hospital bed, Dr. Yu's "dental chair manner" was outstanding. She was gentle, thorough, and explained everything she was going to do before she did it. She even gave me a heads-up on the noises I'd hear during the procedure, which was a huge help in keeping my anxiety under control. I kept waiting to feel pain at some point, but to my surprise, I never felt any pain or discomfort -- I actually almost fell asleep! Referred by Aspen Dental's Dr. Rogland for a Root Canal around May 15th, went in on June 2nd. Originally I was booked to do the root canal 2 weeks after the initial exam, but Dr. Shi happened to have a cancellation. Dr. Shi and the staff were nice enough but had trouble with the dental dam clamp. They requested some help from a senior dentist who happened to be in the office. After several painful attempts with the second dentist, the clamp was on. The root canal itself was relatively not as bad, but still took longer than expected, done by Dr. Shi. After returning to Aspen Dental for the permanent crown( which they ended up half-finishing) I realized the referral was not actually Dr. Rogland but a junior dentist. read more

Today I had a root canal procedure done with Dr. Kolber. I was referred to him by Dr. Townsend, who is my Dentist. Backstory. I found Dr. Townsend online through fantastic Yelp reviews and decided I wanted to check him out. He is exactly what they say in the reviews and so is his office staff. Professionals!! Courteous!! And super friendly! He performed filling in cavities I have had and a crown replacement. Was fantastic! But I started to have a sensitivity problem soon after. Everything I drank that was room temperature or colder just bothered me a lot. He tried everything he could to fix the problem and just couldn't see in X-rays why one tooth was giving me so much sensitivity. I was referred to Dr. Kolber by Dr. Townsend. Laura, who is the Receptionist at Dr. Townsend's Office at Laguna View Family Dental, I told her I was afraid to even think about getting a root canal and was overwhelming myself. I wasn't sure what to make of it because of the experience I had with two root canal procedures before, in San Jose, where I felt all the pain and drilling and was basically tearful when it was all done. I guess you can say I had PTSD from getting root canals. Laura assured me not to worry too much. That Dr. Kolber is a true Professional and he's really really good! She told me about the story of her visiting and how she didn't feel anything. No pain. And there's a reason why it's that Doctor they're choosing for me to go to. She calmed my nerves and told me to trust her. I gave in a made the appointment. I first saw Dr. Kolber back in November after the referral from Dr. Townsend. He did a couple of test and was able to pin point where the sensitivity was coming from. But he gave me two options. He didn't pressure me or push me in any direction and I think thats what I love most about him! He let me choose what my next steps were and what direction I wanted to go. In X-rays, he could not see the problem but explained it could be a microscopic issue that we do not see on the X-rays. He advised me I could do a root canal OR prescribe me a dental toothpaste which helps with sensitivity. We both agreed to try the toothpaste and see if that helps after a month of using. A month later I called and told them the toothpaste didn't change anything to the sensitivity I was having. It was still bugging me and still was a problem. I waited till January to make an appointment to see him again. We went over the same issue and he did his little test and X-rays to pin point the problem. I believe we were both confident on which tooth it was that was causing the problem. He again gave me two options. I told him let's just go for the root canal. Its been bugging me for months and I dislike the feeling I get when I drink anything. Let alone not eating on that side at all since November. Again, Dr. Kolber was a Professional and so nice!! Today was my procedure for my root canal. Walked in all nervous because I didn't know what to expect. The stigma of the pain from a root canal is already imbedded into me and I just couldn't believe that I will have to live through this pain again. By my surprise, Dr. Kolber has very light hands! He didn't rest his hands on my face, thank God! Not only that, he talked to me through the procedure on the next steps. In my mind, I wasn't sure how long this was going to take. But for him to talk to me through the procedure rested my nerves. They place this rubber guard which has a piece of metal opening in the middle. This piece goes onto the tooth and the rubber guard goes over the mouth. Wasn't sure how to feel about it but it wasn't that bad. He numbed me and I didn't feel a thing! On my end it felt gentle lol but then again I was numbed! Through the whole procedure I was very impressed! Blown away on how the procedure went by. From the moment walking into his office to the moment I left I'm just in a WOW! The staff there too!! They carry the same qualities that Dr. Kolber carries. Professional, courteous, friendly, and overall welcoming! I have spoken to maybe about 6-7 staff members since my visits and all of them have changed my mind about getting root canals. There was two women who assisted Dr. Kolber that I want to highlight as well. Both Razia and Toby. Razia was super friendly and a true professional. We spoke about the Bay Area and how she use to be from the Alameda. So we related on that subject. Also Toby, who was also friendly and a true professional who talked to me about a client just recently who was also from the Bay Area. She also calmed me down a little and told me I was in good hands that I didn't need to worry. And she was 100% correct. I builded getting a root canal to something I've experienced before and in the end, it wasn't even close. Truthfully, I would not recommend this place. While the dentists seem nice with strong credentials, it doesn't always reflect in their quality of work. I had a root canal that went pretty badly with Kolber. It ultimately ended up in an extraction and implant. On the opposing side of my mouth, I sought another Endodontist who did a much better, more detailed job. I didn't feel as though Kolber cared, I was just another number and $$$$ to him. read more

I had to visit an other dentists and found out I needed a root canal... ugh! I was referred here from the dentist and was scared and nervous. I recently discovered that a 20 year old crown had developed a fissure and now I had a deep root/gum infection and needed a root canal. I am so glad my dentist referred me to Endodontic Associates in Elk Grove. I saw Dr. Javaheri today. He was the kindest, gentlest and caring dental specialist I've been to in years. He kept asking how I was doing, if I was in any pain or discomfort. He was professional, but not in the usual cold professional way. He had a great sense of humor and just over all made me feel so comfortable. His assistant, Razsa, was also just as kind and caring. I told them right from the start that I have chocking issues and can't handle saliva/water pooling in the back of my throat. Razsa made sure I was well suctioned back there and Dr. Javaheri also asked. Dr. Javaheri also explained each tool he was going to use next like "this is going to vibrate and is rather loud" etc. I couldn't have asked for a better team. Who knew a root canal would be pleasant? I was dealing with a jaw infection and a lot of pain. Endodontics Associates got me in the very next day after my dentist referred me. Dr. David Keating was very nice, highly aware of my pain level, and wasn't in a rush to push me out the door. He made sure I was nice and numb before he proceeded. It didn't take long at all. They followed up, saw me again when I still felt like something wasn't right. They really made sure I was well taken care of. Extremely unusual for an Endodontist. This is a tough one. When I finally had a chance to see Dr. Opp, it was a good (albeit painful) experience. She took her time in making sure that I understood the complicated next steps that were available to me. While I was still overwhelmed, I was also reassured by her knowledgeable breakdown of my treatment plan options. However. I ended up waiting a long time to see her after my initial intake, with an intercom beeping regularly next to me. Whatever, it's livable. The problem came when I contacted my regular dentist. They hadn't seen my records from Dr. Opp 3 days later, despite her assurances that they would be complete and sent off in the next day. The fantastic staff at my dentists office let me know it's because, after some phone calls, they discovered that Endodontic Associates sent them to the wrong office. When I called Endodontic Associates to express my frustration, I was treated to a litany of excuses as to why they failed to send my records to where they supposed to end up. Despite having a business card of where my dentist worked, they didn't bother to double check that, but sent the records to his previous practice, who let them know he wasn't there anymore. Instead of contacting me, or using the business card that I have given them (along with the referral), they just used the information they had in the computer. Go for the dental practitioners, but be very careful to ensure that the clerical staff handles your information with care, and don't expect them to own their mistakes, or apologize for them. read more

It's hard to find a good dentist from browsing these review sites. That's because nearly all dentists use paid "review farms" that write fake reviews. You can identify these dentists because they have 100 percent five-star reviews, which is just impossible for any type of business. But I'm an actual patient, and this is an actual review of my experience with EA in Elk Grove. Overall, I had a positive experience. I needed an evaluation of a couple areas of my mouth that possibly needed root canals. After x-rays, doctor Savani came in to do her evaluation. I can't really explain those procedures since I'm not too knowledgeable in that area. It involved a visual inspection, some prodding, tapping, and cold application to test sensitivity. It seemed thorough. After the exam, we discussed options and decided that root canals were not needed, and extraction followed by implants were a better treatment for the long term. My insurance, Delta Premier, covered most of the cost. There was minimal insurance paperwork, which is always a positive. Overall, I recommend this dental practice for Endo work, but keep in mind it is based on only one experience. read more

I was refer to Dr Bal for a root canal. Where they would drilling through my existing crown and possibly saving my crown. Which means money saved. Had a good experience except that my crown popped off during the procedure so he had to finish the root canal normally, which could have been done at my dentist office. Dr Bal and his assistance did a great job numbing me up that I barely felt anything during the root canal. I truly enjoy the fact that Dr Bal walk me through every step as he went through the root canal. The only part he didn't mention until after the procedure was that the crown popped off and he wouldn't be able to cement it back in because my tooth was too small. The follow up was great. What an incredible office. My dentists sent me here, likely because he's still trying to find the time to sit down with me, tell me what is wrong with my teeth, and troubleshoot an issue we're having with a cavity he filled. Thinking the best solution was for me to have a root canal- he sent me here. I was far from pleased. BUT THEY WERE GREAT! Everyone in the office from the front desk staff, to the dental assistant, the dentist, and the person who checked me out took the time to introduce themselves to me. Some even shook my hand. They chit chatted with me and were really friendly and seemed like they actually cared. The office was immaculate. The reception and dentists rooms were very clean and calming. The standard background music was Christmas to reflect the season but was not overly loud. The dentist who saw me ended up taking care to clarify my responses and tried various tests to see if I needed a root canal. Turns out I only needed a crown (NOT! See update below!) . He spent more time talking to me about my problem than my general dentist. He was really funny too. I imagine if I did need a root canal, the humor would have cheered me up just a tad. (And it did when I ended up getting one) They only do root canals here but do consultations first and make recommendations to your dentist. There is plenty of parking and they're located near city hall behind the BJ's restaurant on Laguna. UPDATE: I actually needed a root canal. I took off one star because I went in for an additional consultation appointment and waited in the chair for over an hour (I timed it!) before the dentist came in. When I came back for my actual root canal- they were very pleasant. Believe it or not the procedure hurt LESS than the previous cavity filling/ crown procedures I had at my general dentist. This location followed up with pain management options and a general check in. (Though they failed to call me back about a rx they called in to my pharmacy). All in all, even though no one wants to go get a root canal- I HIGHLY recommend that if you need one and you get to choose where you go- you go here! read more

Absolute panic. That's what I felt when I learned I needed a root canal. I attempted to prepare myself by reading about the procedure and watching videos. I had very little familiarity with the procedure, and I didn't have much dental experience besides routine cleanings. So, I couldn't have been referred to a better place for the procedure! The ENDODONTIC ASSOCIATES DENTAL GROUP is amazing! The office staff did a fantastic job with the scheduling, check-in process, coordination with insurance, and the after care follow-up check. The dental assistant Razia was assuring and accommodating. The dentist, ANEET S.BAL, DDS, was knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, and thorough. My comfort was of utmost importance, and Dr. Bal ensured the procedure was painless by using only the amount of relief necessary. I was referred to Endodontic Associates last week and was seen the next day for my first ever root canal. I received a call the day before where I was told about my insurance coverage and copay. Rasza took me to get an x ray from what appeared to be a vertical MRI machine. Then we went to do the root canal and I met Dr. Bal, he was very nice and explained everything so I could understand and I let him know I never had a root canal before and I had been in a lot of pain and was looking forward to getting it over with. He worked on me so gently I think I fell to sleep a few times. He and Rasza work so well together there is now much conversation, just handing told back and forth and working. They were done in less than an hour and later when the Novocaine wore off I was very happy to be pain free. I would very much recommend their services to anyone in need of a root canal. read more

I had a root canal here about 4 years ago and everything went great. This review has to do with my wife's experience just a couple months ago. She was referred here by our dentist for a root canal and the tooth was infected. This place saw her as an "emergency" visit. The dr decided she needed a root canal and told her to schedule another appointment to have the root canal performed. She made the appointment and paid a $60 co-pay for the initial visit. So a couple days go by for her next appointment. She goes in and about 10 minutes in the dr decides her tooth isn't worth "saving" as he put it and told her to go back to her dentist to have the tooth extracted. The dr left and my wife had to pay a $45 co-pay for this visit and she left to go back to our dentist. Of course our dentist disagreed but pulled the tooth. About 3 weeks later we get a bill in the mail from them for $300 dollars for the visits! They are billing us for the full root canal among other things that were not completed. We called to ask about the bill and they said, well it was an emergency and the dentist "started" work on the tooth. They already billed my insurance and got payments from them for this not completed work and now they want me to pay in total about $400 for a root canal that was not performed and we had our dentist extract. This place is a scam and are ripping people off. I was fine paying the almost $100 I've paid already in co-pays for the visits, but another $300 for them doing nothing is ridiculous. Might look into BBB or call my insurance to report this. Go somewhere else if you can. read more

I had a root canal on Friday, March 9. I'll admit when I walked in the door I was absolutely terrified but my endodontist Dr David Keating was awesome! Made sure I was comfortable and didn't downplay my fears but kept me reassured. I personally asked for nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and it soothed my nerves. I was so comfortable that I could actually feel myself almost falling asleep. I was shopping later and couldn't stop bragging how great he was! Thanks Dr David Keating!!! You rock! Came in through a recommendation from my dentist for a infection that was building up close to my sinus canal on the tooth that has a pre-existing crown. The procedure was pleasant and Dr. Bal was informative and gentle but what threw me off was when I was turned down when I asked for antibiotics. After the procedure was done, Liz came in and informed me the tissue scraped from my tooth was "abnormal" and will be sent for a biopsy if I coughed up $300 that was not covered by my insurance. The tissue scraped had a infection for who knows how long and I don't get antibiotics but if I need something for pain, norco would be called into the pharmacy of my choice. But but just in case it's not at the pharmacy, please come into our office to pick up a paper prescription because sometimes a paper prescription is easier. Lol. Wow!! Came in with soo much tooth pain almost in tears and so nervous for the root canal that i clenched to the patient chair. Dr Keating was patient, understanding and listened to all my questions. He explained and checked in with me every 10 minutes and made sure to numb me very well that i didn't feel a thing. You hear the equipment noise but don't feel anything so might as well nap :-) His bedside manner is amazing, and i cant Emphasize more on the NO Pain thing while work is done! Highly recommended, you can trust he knows what he is doing! The reception staff are very friendly always smiling and fitting me in on short notice! Hopefully now my teeth pain gets better. read more
