I had no idea how the wiring worked, so I looked for a handyman nearby with experience working on these older models. I found Oleh through his website, he told me he has replaced the exact same model in the past and even told me what the wires were upfront so I decided to go with him to do the job. He said he could buy a replacement on his way to me and didn't charge me extra, even showed me the receipt for how much he paid for the new one. I paid 25$+tax for the new thermostat and 85$ for the replacement work. He knew exactly what he was doing. Because the new device was smaller he also applied some drywall filler to patch up the spot for free. The communication was great, pricing was very transparent, everything worked, so I'm very happy with the service.

I thought, well, I've already got the $88 credit, so may as well just get it done. Then the quote came back at more than double! Mind you, it works! Just the rubber top portion needs to replaced. Such a phenomenal waste of my time, energy and $88. If you're rich and don't have any ability to find a trusted local business, have no deadline, they're at least licensed insured and background checked.... and a big fancy company that does the scheduling. That would have demonstrated a level of professionalism and common courtesy that should be a cornerstone of your business. Instead, you decide to respond to this review three years later with a passive-aggressive reply that only serves to make you look incredibly unprofessional. No part of my review was unreasonable, and the resolution that I said I hoped for was completely fair. Sending a text message would not have endangered your life or your health, but it would have gone a long way to showing that you're a decent person who cares about doing right by people, even when you aren't going to take the job.
