Nice large beach. Paid parking can be a problem if you arrive late morning. Lots of broken sea shells that can be painful on your feet, so wearing beach shoes would probably be best. We brought water and snacks to enjoy since there are no concessions around. Overall, we had a nice time and would definitely return while staying in the area. 4 Stars! read more

Wonderful beach to visit close to Englewood and West Rotonda. A good amount of parking, nice bathroom facilites, and even a playground shaped like a pirate ship, this place is the perfect way to spend an afternoon at the beach. A fair amount of bars, shops, and cafes are located just across the street so you can easily make this place a day trip for the whole family. The beach itself is pretty flat with gobs of white sand and a flat, smooth sandy bottom which is perfect for swimming and walking. This beach is also a good place to look for seashells, especially Florida Conchs. The fishing off the beach is also pretty lively. I was lucky enough to catch a Bonnethead shark! read more

My husband and I recently visited Englewood beach. We are thoroughly impressed! Weather was great, water was blue, sun was shining. What more could we ask for? For the water to be warm.. ahah! But FL had a chilly winter! We were there on a Saturday so they were a little busy and it was the first nice day the area had seen in awhile so everyone was out, I would love to go back on a week day! We simply loved this beach! We did not go by the busier main beach! We went to the beach closer to the vacation homes. It was stunning, chill, and relaxing! We met a nice lady who had been staying there, and since she is a dog lover, she saw we were too, and let us use her drive way to park. If you are not staying on Englewood Beach, beside the main parking, it is hard to find parking! This beach is heavenly in more ways than one. There's not many shops in this area, and there are some bar and grills around. It is nice simple relaxation here! read more

We arrived on a Saturday and the ocean was crystal blue. Three hours later the red tide hit the beaches in this area. Horrible smell and dead fish was terrible for our entire 4 day stay. How sad to see this beautiful beach look and smell like dumpter. This is NOT acceptable. What is the Governor doing about this! Our beaches are suffering and so will be its economy. read more

On a hot day in the Christmas season this beach was MOBBED with people. It's a good place to hunt for shells and was generally clean. Someone's chair and table were set up advertising rentals for assorted beach equipment, with a phone number to call...huh? (the booth was currently unmanned.) How long are you gonna wait? When in doubt, bring your own gear. There is a fee for parking but the machine you're supposed to pay had a tarp over it so....*whistles* Your feet will get a good exfoliating from the shells and scrubby grey sand. It's still a nice place to walk, pick shells and look at the waves (or swim if the weather permits). Enjoy! read more

Very busy beach on the weekends, lots of rowdy people. Weekdays are quiet and peaceful. Parking can be a problem on the weekends as well. I don't understand the parking I paid for an hour then decided to get another hour. It gave me 2 more minutes ⁉It's got a remote code for the park mobile app but you can't extend it using it. Visiting my boyfriends parents in Port Charlotte we had a little extra time and wanted to see what the area had to offer in terms of beaches. I really like the beach vibe on the west coast of Florida, as it's generally a little more laid back than what I am used to in the Fort Lauderdale area. The crowds are either leaning towards the senior citizen side, or families...less of a spring break feel, which is fine with me. This particular day was a little bit cloudy and threatening rain, but knowing the Florida sun, even if there is cloud cover you can still get some color. We arrived at the beach around 11:30 and found parking was pretty easy. This may have been because we were there before noon, but probably had more to do with the fact that the weather was a little bit iffy. We parked and noticed the pay stations, where you enter your space number. The spaces here aren't as clearly marked as one might hope when you need to be able to read the number to enter into the meter, but through math and process of elimination we were able to determine we were in space 297, the the number was pretty worn. The pay station takes cards and cash, but it took me a little while to figure it out, and I'm pretty sure they don't take Discover, as that card gave me problems, but Visa went through on the first try. We headed down a wooden beach access pathway to the sand. The beach here is beautiful. It isn't pristine and combed, but has lots of shells. Even though I'm almost thirty I still think it's fun to look for the perfect shells on the beach. When they comb, or when there are a ton of people, you just don't seem to find many shells. We set up our towels and chairs and people watched for a little while. There were quite a few people treasure hunting with metal detectors and sifting baskets...I hope that's just a hobby and not a relied upon source of income, but it looked kind of fun. The water here was gorgeous. This particular day it was very calm, clear, and had that aqua color than almost looked Carribean. This is a really great spot to relax, and there are a few bars and restaurants in the area if you want to make more of a day out of the trip...I'm excited to get back toe Englewood and spend more time. read more

Englewood beach is NOT a dog-friendly beach. I typed in "dog-friendly beaches" and this was one of the ones listed. I know this for a fact because I live in Englewood year round and I have seen people kicked off the beach with their dogs. There are also "no dogs allowed on beach" signs at every entrance of Englewood beach. I would hate to see someone who isn't from the area bring their dog(s) to Englewood beach and get fined or be told they have to leave. However, when I don't have my dogs with me, this is my favorite beach to go to because they have a bathroom, and there is also a convenience store right across the street if you need a cold drink. It also helps that it's only 5 minutes from my house. It does get a bit crowded and sometimes you have to circle the parking lot a few times before you find a spot but it's worth it. They also rent umbrellas and chairs right on the beach and a guy on a 4-wheeler will bring them right to your spot and put umbrella up for you, which is so convenient for those of us who don't feel like buying all that stuff and then packing it all in your car every time you go to the beach. read more

Located directly across from the Circle K, you will find Plenty of parking for a small fee (now has Mobile Now app). Several great restaurants also on the same side of Beach rd and the CircleK This beach has a large bathhouse with toilets, change areas and showers. And a boardwalk that can get you there from either end of the beach. There are picnic grounds, BBQ grills and basketball courts. Often there is beach chair rentals, but not guaranteed. This is a good beach for shelling and shark teeth hunting. It is not the powdery sand of Siesta Key beach. In the evening there is often some great bands at the nearby restaurant/bars. This beach is awesome. I went down to watch the sunset go down and it was so pretty. This beach is very good for building sand castles because the sand is so soft. Englewood Beach is very pretty at night to watch the Sun go down. I went down to Florida during February vacation because I heard the beaches down here are awesome. Awesome beach! The sand is really hot due to the sun. The water is blue and where it isn't, you can see through it. It is clear, but as you would probably expect, it gets darker the further you get in. It's great for finding shells and shark teeth. Ended up here after we couldn't find a parking spot at our intended beach. Beach was nice. Happened to be a pretty windy day in which I kind of like. Makes it seem less hot and humid on a 90 degree day. Beach was not too crowded but it did need a god cleanup/sweeping. A lot of dead sea grass laying around. You would think with the parking fee monies they would do a little clean up. Parking cost was minimal like 1pm to 715 cost was $5.00. Parking lot was only short walk from beach.
