This is a warning to anyone who ventures to Enjoy Holistic Healing. At first, the massage pace seemed ok, but it progressed to almost a kind of sadistic torture treatment . The pace got faster & without any warning, she proceeded to take my leg and bend like you would fold a table leg. Before I could say STOP, I heard a crack at my knee joint. To this day, my right knee is not like it used to be. I don't think she has had any professional training in massage technique at all -- she doesn't seem to have any real knowledge of the human muscle/skeletal system at all. Instead of wanting to hear valid complaints & wanting to improve, she will try to make it appear that the review is fake, that the reviewer could of simply asked for the room to be warmer, cleaner, massage less focused on knee-caps, less slurping of her tea, less damp towels, etc. I would rethink this Groupon offer. The bad reviews are kind of laughable on here from people that likely only go to chain spas. I ignored those and I'm glad I did. And any of the Groupon reviews I take with a grain of salt. I found Enjoy Holistic Healing through Groupon and feel bad someone had a negative experience because I actually had a great massage. I went for the Reflexology with head massage and feel totally relaxed. Joy was really nice and comfortable to be around. The exterior of the building is eh, but the room you receive your massage in provides calming vibes and the sounds of the city just disappeared while I was being worked on. This business states that masks are worn. My massage therapist did not wear a mask and became indignant when I asked about it. She stated she had a medical condition that made it difficult for her to wear a mask. When dealing with the public a consumer should know this in advance. Received a Groupon for a gift for the lavender and tea tree oil head and foot massage. Joy was attentive, calming, and asked for my input so that my experience would be what i hoped for. I enjoyed both the foot massage and the shoulders/neck/scalp massage. She did a great job. The location was easy to find and park. The room was clean, including carpeting and linens. The music was peaceful and the aromatherapy was just enough. I would definitely book another massage and recommend Joy! read more

So I booked my appointment over a month ago and was very excited to get a massage after it had been a very stressful month. I show up at 470 park ave at 9:50am to find no signs or directions to where I should be going to enter. I walked up and down the street about 6 times. I decided to call and ask where I should go, no answer so I left a message. 10 minutes go by no call back so I call back again, no answer. 5 minutes later I call again, no answer. 5 more minutes call again, no answer again. GROUPON LIES ABOUT THEIR REVIEWS. I wouldn't say this was a massage. I was suppose to get a head massage and foot reflexology for an hour. I've had reflexology before and this wasn't it. My "head massage" was her pulling pieces of my hair. If I knew that's what it was, I would have just let my one year old keep pulling my hair. Same thing, except I didn't pay money for my 1 year old. Reflexology was patting the bottom of my foot and my calf's. I felt so rushed like I was interrupting something. The atmosphere was very musty and had a mildew smell. The sheets and carpet had a grimy feeling to them. Needless to say I will not ever be going back. read more

I bought 2 massages on Groupon. The reviews on Groupon were very positive. I had my massage on 10/13/16 and my experience was not so positive. When I entered the room I was immediately hit with the smell of bad BO and it came from the masseuse. I could hear all the commotion outside the windows because she had the windows open, that doesn't create a very relaxing atmosphere. She doused my body in coconut oil, I had to use the sheet at the end to the "massage" to wipe it off. She barely used any pressure at all, I was under the impression that it was a deep tissue massage, it felt like she was just rubbing oil on me to make it look like she was doing something. She didn't massage my head, she just pulled on my hair. While she was reaching over me I kept getting hit with her BO. It was supposed to be an hour, which it wasn't, thankfully. I am going to contact Groupon to try and get my money back because this was just terrible and they shouldn't even be selling her Groupon, or at the very least show all the reviews, not just the good ones. I started getting massages from Joy about 1.5 years ago. I go almost monthly. I greatly enjoy her techniques, which are holistic and, I feel, different than bigger chain massage places. She is attuned to my body and accomodating of specific needs (i.e. pregnancy). I recently asked her about sound healing and she gladly incorporated it into the end of my massage, which was very relaxing and meditative. First I need to start off by saying I NEVER write reviews. I typically just use word of mouth to share my experiences with people good or bad. However, I think it's important for people to know how bad this place is and what to expect from the masseuse that runs this place. I agree 100% with Mimi S. reported in her review of this place, my experience was very similar. The masseuse gives horrible messages. Her presentation was concerning and should of been a sign from the very beginning. She had very poor hygiene and reeked of foul body odor. The room she massages in was cold. She had a space heater in the room that she "didn't know how to use because a friend gave it to her". She also talked about not wanting to turn the heat on because she may not be able to afford her heat bill. The massage table that I laid on had used linen on it and she used an old beach towel to cover me with. Everything about this place was completely unprofessional. In regards to the massage, I feel like she didn't actually give me a massage, it was more like a rub down with a lot of oil. Her humming and singing (Yes she did it to me as well Mimi) didn't bother me much but it definitely wasn't soothing lol. if you do get a massage from her you should be prepared to have a similar experience. I bought this hour long massage off of Groupon a while ago and so when I went to my appointment, it was the strangest most unprofessional experience. I was in this apartment where I meet joy. We walk into this small room with a massage table in it, sheets are not clean, smell is bad. Joy tells me that she's going to use coconut oil on me and also asks if I want my breast massaged. Also notifies me that she's not wearing a bra. She doesn't smell the greatest and she did a horrible job at massaging me. Honestly, the worst massage ever. All she did was rub me, drench my hair and body in oil. Pulled my hair as well. I felt bad in the end so I even tipped her, which is ridiculous when I think about it now. I've had massages with Joy Clarkson at Enjoy Holistic Healing for about 2 years. Also the waiting room area is spacious and she has never kept me waiting. Her massage center is neat and clean. I feel more relaxed as soon as I enter the massage room and hear the spiritual music playing and see the clean linens on her massage table. The table is comfortable, large and heated. Joy loves to talk about her spiritual journey and all the positive aspects of it that she has integrated into her life.. She is also funny and light hearted. Her words are soothing. She uses a variety of massage techniques including Reiki and a Swiss technique. She has a light and gentle touch but is not afraid to dig in and go after the larger tighter muscles. She always gives me a full session and offers me water to stop any dehydration I may experience from the session. Even exiting the her massage room is peaceful and she does not talk a lot at the end so I can experience the compete relaxed state that I'm in. I also feel much more centered and grounded after leaving a session. I'm awake and alert but profoundly relaxed. I go to Joy twice per month to stay relaxed and centered. Her prices are extremely fair and less expensive than competitors. I highly recommend Joy's services to anyone who needs to relax, center and rejuvenate. My experience with Joy at Enjoy Holistic Healing was very positive and refreshing. Although she does not do what some people term as traditional deep tissue massage, her massage practice (a blend of Swedish and other) was soothing and relaxing, and loosened me up considerable. The music and the low lights were perfect for the method she used, and she was gentle with the sound healing phase, which felt as though it really resonated through my body. (I believe the sound healing is upon request). I believe there was a choice of oils, although the choice didn't matter to me. Some of you may prefer to cover your hair, but I was fine with the treatment the way it was. I truly felt like a new person when I got off of Joy's massage table. When you schedule with Joy, check and make sure you have her new location, as sometimes if you Google her business it may show the old address. It's worth giving her a try, in order to experience her unique and effective methods.I am glad I saw her. read more

Joy provides massages from her home (although I would never call what she does a massage), an old basement apartment under an abandoned hair salon. There is no sign for her business Anywhere, and no directions about where to park. You have to go down a very steep and narrow set of ancient wooden stairs, then go behind and around the building to her apartment (which has very low ceilings and feels claustrophobic). 3/4 of the stairs were broken and moved under your feet. Incredibly unsafe. I was a few minutes early at her request. She wasted nearly 10 minutes trying to get the scanner to work on her cell phone so that she could scan my Groupon. I said that she could keep the Groupon and do it later. She said no. I have had back and neck problems for 30 years, and have had 100's of massages. This was the worst, hands down. Instead of a sheet on the massage table to slip under, she had an old beach towel that didn't cover my body at all. The bottom sheet and cloth on the face rest smelled musty. There was a yellow stain on the face cloth. Before lying down, I explained in detail what areas I wanted her to focus on. She replied, so I'll massage your whole body. I said no that wasn't what I asked for, and she ignored me. She asked if she could do a breast massage on me and I declined. She mentioned twice that I didn't want a breast massage, in a very disappointed tone of voice. She had music on, which was not only too loud, but was words in another language. Which I normally don't mind, but she sang along the entire time. There were no candles burning, no scented massage oil/lotion, nothing soothing. She used plain unscented oil - not even real massage oil. She poured it all over my body and hair. The table was drenched. I had to wash my hair 3 times to get the oil out. My skin literally dripped as I was putting my clothes back on. I woke up with several pimples on my face, which I don't normally get. All she did was run her hands up and down my body softly the Entire time. She never did a single thing to my muscles, and then just ran her hands over my bones, which kind of hurt. No exaggeration. Then she had me flip over. I had asked her to pay special attention to my neck and shoulders. She literally whipped my neck to one side and then the other. This was fast and painful, and could have caused acute damage. Then she just ran her hands over my shoulders, arms, legs and feet. I asked her to massage deeper on my neck/shoulder area, and she said that she doesn't do deep tissue massage, and that her hands aren't strong enough. After that fiasco, she asked if she could do "sound work". I said that I'd try it. She proceeded to say breathe, relax, get deeper, etc. Then she scared the crap out of me by hitting a series of 4 gongs. Very unsettling and loud. Then the experience was finally over. I looked at the time when I got off the table. I had been on it less than 45 minutes (Thank goodness!), but it certainly wasn't an hour massage. I have a 2nd massage on this Groupon, but will absolutely not ever go to this crazy woman again. read more

I like to give feedback, good or bad, when deserved and I am disgusted and creeped out beyond belief at the massage I got last night from a groupon I bought at Enjoy Holistic Healing at 465 Park Ave in Worcester. This was a run down 3 decker, when I walked in the front door the front room was set up as what looked like a therapy room with about 10 chairs in a circle and then walking down a creepy hall with a bunch of bedrooms on each side was one bedroom with a massage table. The woman Joy was nice but looked like she hadn't showered in days, smelled like it too, and hadn't been to the dentist in decades. The sheet I laid on was damp and musty smelling. She covered me, I mean covered me in some unscented oil and drenched my hair in it. She spent more than half the time "massaging" my hair and pulling it ... Mind you this is a deep tissue massage that I bought. If she wasn't pulling my hair she was "massaging" my bones and not the muscles, which was really painful. At one point she put her hands on my shoulders and didn't move them at all for at least 5 minutes which I just kept thinking did she fall asleep? I've never wanted an hour to fly by as much as that hour. Thankfully groupon refunded me my money, but I learned to read the reviews and research places before I go there. read more
