It's the main production location where you can get bread that have been freshly baked, and, of course, Jamaican patties. I have been visiting Tastee's east Markham location regularly as of late. I've been enjoying its patties that I needed to restock. I came to this location after work yesterday, on a late Thursday afternoon. It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm day. I walked in with a t-shirt and joggers on with the temperature at 18°C. I backed into a parking spot a few steps away from the main entrance. I then walked in. I let my nose get me to the main counter. There was a display case full of hot patties. It smelled incredible. It was enjoyable browsing. I saw everything from Limacol after-shave lotion (a total eye-opening experience as someone who doesn't shave her face) to bags of salted cod bits. I kept thinking about ackee and saltfish after looking at the latter. I am a beverage person. I enjoyed looking at drinks with island flare. The Grace peanut punch still sticks in my head. I need to get a drink box and check it out. The large inviting fridge with what looked like endless boxes of frozen patties. made me so happy. Veggie. Chicken. Non-spicy beef. Regular spicy beef. Spicy beef. There is something for everyone. My favourite is the regular spicy beef. I find that it's cheaper to get a dozen patties here at $15. The McCowan location lists a box at $15.50. There isn't tax on top of the price. The difference in price is likely because the McCowan location allows you to pay with a credit card. It also has hot foods. It's cheaper getting a box of 24 patties for $24.25. If you get five cases or more of 24 patties, the price goes down to $22 per case. I love patties. I don't think that I can do a box of 24 patties unless I am having a party or I eat patties all day, every day. I learned when I got to the counter that you can only pay with cash or a debit card. I walked in with a credit card. I got the most understanding woman with blue hair at the payment counter. I let her know that I didn't have a debit card on me and had to head to my car to fetch it. She was great and nodded. I returned in less than a minute armed with my debit card. I thanked her for her patience. I tapped and was good. She asked if I needed the receipt. I took it. I was happy that the box of patties were mine. I wished her a wonderful day. She reciprocated. I left with a cheerful box of patties. Maybe I should get a 24-pack of patties next time. I've already had three. The regular spicy is perfect. It has a slight spicy kick with yummy, seasoned beef in each patty. I want to try the veggie and chicken ones next. I should broaden my horizons, but I love the regular spicy. It's difficult to break buying and consuming what you love. I have heard that this place used to offer hot food. I didn't see that offering when I was there. I suppose that the McCowan location handles it now. I want to get the oxtail. It looked incredible. I'm happy that I finally visited this location. I need to remember to bring a debit card whenever I'm here. I rarely have cash on me, so it's a debit card from now one. If you want yummy patties that don't break the bank, come here. It is a small cafe that serves coffee, snacks, and quick bites. The father-daughter duo who runs the store were always welcoming, friendly and personable. They also seem to know regular customers' orders by heart ;) I usually order a medium coffee which is $1.50 tax included. You can choose the regular coffee blend or roasted hazelnut blend. The hazelnut one is my favourite, and it smells so heavenly ^^ For lunch, I usually get a freshly made sandwich for $4 tax included. The portion is huge (for me!), you can add sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and other toppings at no additional cost. My coworker and I usually enjoy the egg salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, and chicken salad sandwich :) Secret menu item (well, not so secret anymore!) Beef patty ($1.50 tax in.) is not on the menu but you can certainly order it. I always have random beef patty craving moments lol. You can also have it stuffed apparently! My coworker was telling me how delicious a stuffed beef patty was lol. You can stuff it with the usual - sliced tomatoes, cucumber, plus other favourite toppings. They have great sandwiches and breakfast items made to order. My favourite thing was the bibimbop which is a Korean dish made with rice and a mix of vegetables served in a sizzling stone pot. Pretty nice stuff for a typical work week lunch. They owners are very nice and friendly, prices are super affordable making this a great work lunch spot!

Since the closure of But'n Ben Scottish bakery in Pickering, there hasn't been another bakery to get good meat pies from. This bakery replaced a Wimpy's diner and I was curious to see how they would manage such a large space for a bakery. The store is well laid out with fridges and freezers that line the store, jam packed with delicious oven ready meals and hard to find eats. There are also isles stocked with jams, coffee, tea, pot noodles, biscuits and snacks from the old country. And in-store baked breads are spread out on tables near the display cases. I picked up 6 assorted meat pies and some Queen Victoria's during this visit and shared them with my family. I don't often make meat pies anymore as the kid still has yet to develop the taste for it, but for the adults in the family, this was a lovely treat to pick up several different flavours to sample (chicken pot pie, steak and gravy, steak and mushroom). We enjoyed our selection of pies and the dessert and look forward to returning to try out more delicious eats!

Been to Reesor's farm to buy seasonally fresh produce before and was excited to see this market &…read morebakery that is a permanent store as I was driving by one day. I made an effort to come back in store to check out what they had to offer inside! It's filled with fresh pastries baked in house, lots of local goodies/ brands and a small selection of fresh produce. I came in the winter so could also attribute to the small selection of produce that day. You can even find local meats in their large fridge/ freezer section. I came to buy some local honey which I found at a reasonable price. Everyone that came into the store seemed like they were regulars around the area. I'd come back for more stuff in the future if I'm in the area. Love supporting local and love having local products in my grocery hauls.
