I've been coming to Tastee for many years, all their locations. This one, on Denison is their main production facility where they bake fresh breads and Jamaican patties and also serve up some good Jamaican food. The curry mutton and oxtail are my favourites but they also have jerk chicken, jerk pork, burgers, sandwiches, poutine, and more. They're always busy at lunch time, from the surrounding businesses and I always seem to run into people that I know. It's a meeting place. On this visit, with a couple of friends, we shared some beef patties, oxtail poutine, and a combo of curry mutton and oxtail with rice and peas. The food, as usual, was enjoyable and plentiful. I don't think the oxtail poutine is a regular menu item but beg for it if you have to. It nice!

I was driving by through this industrial area and noticed this place was busy, so it got my attention I should stop here for lunch. Was at the tail end of the rush so no lines but the tables were mostly occupied. There are 2 different line ups and cashiers- one was the hot food for sandwiches and jerk food and the other is for the patties and bread/bakery. So I went to both to satisfy my stomach's curiosity. Got 6 pack of patties beef & veg with normal spice, and the special jerk chicken with extra sauce (as other Yelpers suggested). Please note: The dinner comes with either choice of slaw OR rice, REALLY?? This is where stars were lost, as the combo of slaw to cut the curry sauce is key with the essential rice & peas, you cannot pick just one but both need to be part of the meal. I did takeout and he did a great job filling the box until it managed to just close. Another star lost was for the filling of the patty. There's enough so when you bite, you don't lose any filling but lacking that your mouth is questioning this surprise. Normal was not spicy enough for me, I thought I was average spice level but I guess I should have asked for the next level up. The jerk was also a mild spice, but this extreme winter chill may be to blame for my taste buds. I was however very pleased with the service, not sure if they were the owners(3 ppl served me) but they were very friendly and polite and because of this I wouldn't hesitate to come back. There's also a loyalty stamp card, but 10 dinners get one free.

Man I've been on serious Caribbean food crawl recently as half my recent reviews have been from Caribbean joints! Why? Cause it tastes so good that's why! And how can one not talk about Caribbean food in Markham without talking about George's Tastee? This place is a local landmark that has been here forever and still going strong. Not only is this the central hub where their famous Tastee's Patties are made but they also serve solid Jamaican fare such as jerk and pork chicken, curry chicken and mutton and of course oxtail! The patties come in a variety of styles and heat tolerance such as beef, chicken and vegetables. I still prefer the likes of Patty Time and Randy's but they are still solid fare. They also have a large variety of baked goods such such as hardo bread and there is even a cash and carry area where you can buy patties in bulk. Over the years they have opened up satellite stores but this is where the original has been all these years as many of the people who come here for lunch are locals who work in the area. Solid 4/5 for some classic Jamaican food!

$1.50 per patty, $7.25 half a dozen, $12.25 for a dozen beef patties. Tastee's pretty much sells the standard beef patty, which in my experience had a more thin and crispy crust. I wish it had more beef filling, seemed a little on the light side. There is a "cash and carry" section of the restaurant / bakery and a cafeteria style section where you can order jerk chicken as well.

Either this place has improved since my last review in 2015, or it's really grown on me. Although, it's not as authentic and doesn't quite have the pungency of some of the other places in the hood, (their jerk gravy is more akin to an American beef gravy IMO), their portions are huge, the jerk pork, my favourite, is tender and the optional hot pepper paste is dynamite!

I went to business seminar this morning and beef patties were provided as snacks. It is sooo good that I bought a box on my way home. You can buy cooked patty $7.25 for 6 or a box of frozen patty. It comes with non-spicy, regular spicy, and extra spicy

Went to Tastee's for lunch with a pal. First of all, I had no idea how big it was in there. Lots of tables for patrons. I just assumed it was just a huge@$$ bakery factory with no seats. The jerk pork is quite delicious. If you order the medium it'd come w/ pilaf rice (actually i'm not sure what type of rice it was but it reminds me of pilaf lmao). It was about $5.99 or 6.99. My friend had to pack it for lunch the next day. I ordered a burger (approx $3.50) and it wasn't bad ! Almost like Harveys aka I know i'm probably not eating an odd part of a cow (at least i hope!)....it was good :) Next time I'll try the jerk chicken ! I found the jerk pork had a bit of fat on it...no biggie just cut it out. Service was alright & they were all very polite. I would def. come back for lunch again as it's semi close to my office. Parking - lots of space in the lot but I would suggest backing in so it won't be as difficult for you to leave afterwards. They take debit but only if you order over $10.

This location is terrible. Ordered 2 beef spicy patties and the patties were dry. Their other locations ( Donmills and also Mccowan) makes much better patties. Also, the old lady working there at the cashier was rude. If your unhappy with your job then you should quit. Won't be coming back to this location.

These guys have been around for so many years! Their patties are amazing... but their Jerk Pork dinners are an explosion of flavours! They are paired with their rice and beans a classic staple! The parking lot is always full and the staff is always friendly. Note... if you're on your phone while in line you won't be served! So stay off it to keep the line moving. Alot of hungry customers are waiting don't hold up the line

Tastee's patty (Mild even though there's a red dot)

So I'm addicted to Tastee's Patties but I wanted to leave this review because I noticed that they've messed up the batches somehow and when I bought a box of mild without the red dot, they were EXTREMELY spicy! Then I bought another box of the same thing and again, extremely spicy. So I told my mom and she was like "well mine have the dot and they're not spicy at all" so I googled to see if the red dot meant spicy or not spicy and of course, it means spicy. I'm eating one right now with the red dot and it's not extremely spicy, it's delicious btw. Anyway, someone at the factory has the meats messed up lol, I don't care either way but I wanted to share. I buy about two boxes every week and a half so I've gone through about 6-7 boxes in the last couple months and have had the same experience. For now I will buy red dot because I like the spice level and my babies love it too!

    Ingredients

I order 1 dozen of the regular spicy beef patty, after only 2 patties, it made me very thirsty. After taking a closer look, it list MSG as one of it's ingredients. They definitely added too much in it and I most likely would not be buying their patties anymore. But I am open to trying their other offerings. I'm pretty sure Patty King doesn't have MSG. Cash and debit only btw.

I grew up eating Tastee's delicious Jamaican beef patties throughout my whole life. It was really my first exposure to authentic Jamaican cuisine. I have always drove by this place thinking it was only the factory that produces the patties. So, when I actually walked by, I decided to finally check it out for lunch. I was amazed of how reasonably priced and how delicious the food is at this place. The jerk pork that everyone has been clamoring about has not disappointed. The meat is tender and juicy is very well complimented with the gravy. So, if you were looking for a quick lunch or snack , then swing by Tastee's, and you will not be disappointed.

I rarely have a need to visit it after fetching my bubble tea. I have always been curious about what it has to offer. Last night, I put my bubble tea in my car and decided to drop in. Its name boggles my mind. The only sign that you get when you're standing in front of the store is Convenience. I thought that was its name. I went on Google Maps when I got home and it's listed as D MK Convenience. Yep, it rolls off the tongue. So smooth... NOT! Yelp has coined it MK Convenience. Frankly, I don't know anymore. Isn't it ironic that its business name isn't making the life of a customer convenient? It's clear as mud. What does D MK stand for? Dinosaurs Miss Knowledge? Don't Mock Knives? Dismiss Muttering Knights? Anyway, it's worth dropping by. For a convenience store, it offers a decent assortment of merchandise. Do you need a gift, live in downtown Markham, and don't have a car? Come here. There are assorted gift bundles to wow your special gift recipient. Otherwise, hand over some exotic chips or shrimp-flavoured chips to a friend just because would make that person happy. My weakness is popsicles. I ended up getting a Swedish Berries one. I like the gummy version. I also love this popsicle. The beverage section is impressive. You can get peanut punch by Grace, an assortment of Milkis flavours, Budweiser zero beer, Coca-Cola pure coffee, and more. I was mesmerized by the assortment. Who knew? Need Tylenol? A screwdriver? A pen? Ice? A bong? This store has you covered. If you are wondering, the bongs are by the checkout. I headed over there to pay for my item and a woman sprung from the floor as if she was an aspiring frog. It was unexpected and different. The light above the cashout area flickers. A fellow customer behind me noted that. "It feels like a disco here," he said. "Yes, minus the music," I remarked. "It's easy getting a seizure looking at it," he noted. "I hope not!" I said. The woman behind the counter was nice, but obviously wasn't into our conversation like we were. Here's hoping that she does get the light bulb changed. I paid using my debit card. I tapped on a fancy tablet, entered my cell phone number to get a text receipt, and I was all set. I thanked the woman, said goodnight to the man, and left. I had my popsicle in my car as I drove home. Yummy! Not mushy. Not too hard to chip teeth. Perfect! I'll need to come back to gorge on Danish butter cookies, Canada Dry ginger ale (they come in bottles), and Uncle Rays chipotle and jack cheese chips. I'll save getting a bong until I know what the real name of this convenience store is. (424)

I did something ridiculous today. I brought my car in to get winter tires. Normally, I remember to detach my house keys from my car key fob. I forgot. I got a shuttle home and realized that I didn't have my house keys. I tried to get the attention of my shuttle driver, but he was too busy looking straight ahead in the opposite direction. It's -14°C outside. As tough as I am to stay out on my door stoop, I decided to walk five minutes over to the plaza in which this store resides until my boyfriend returns home, which is just an hour. I wasn't sure whether this store accepts debit cards. I asked the kind man at the counter. It does. Yay! I was thirsty and got a Diet Pepsi. I also noticed the numerous dark chocolate Bounty bars and got one. I then paid. This store has a table in front of the lottery section. I asked him if it was okay to sit there for a bit. He was fine. I liked how understanding he was. The seats are padded. I can't complain. There are also bongs and vapes. It's amazing what I discover! The interior isn't the most attractive. However, it does have everything you expect from a corner store. To support my recollection that this store used to be a Becker's, there is still a sticker with its logo where the trash area is. I spent nearly an hour at the store. I am thankful that I passed the brief time in a warm store. (255)

A couple of days ago, the entire Amazon locker had no power. My guess is that the thunderstorms and power outages affected this Amazon locker. I couldn't fetch my package. I had made another order. I couldn't select my usual locker. It was obviously out of service so the option was removed. Instead, I chose to pick up my order at New Gen Superstore. It's in a small plaza on the southeast corner of Brimley Road and 14th Avenue. It's also closer to my home. There was plenty of parking when I came here after I was done working from home. I backed into a spot and walked in. This place is a large convenience store. I looked and didn't see any lockers. I had the nicest man behind the counter interact with me. I asked him if this place was an Amazon location. He said yes. I said that I had an order. He asked for my name. I provided it and he went over to the other side of the room to fetch it. I also got a barcode in my inbox from Amazon. He scanned it from his phone. He then scanned the barcode on the package to indicate that it was picked up. We had a nice chat. His store is also a full-service FedEx. Nice! This store had a lot of snacks and cold drinks. What stood out was a lot of space devoted to lottery tickets. You could sit down with your scratch-and-hopefully-win tickets and play until you are rich or poor. This store is cool in my books. When I saw the peanut M&M's guy with a bunch of candy, I knew that I would love this store. I had a great experience here. I'd return to check out the drinks and more. It will likely be my new Amazon location for order pickups. (275)
