Great wines by the glass and free tasty breadsticks.

This cute little wine bar and shop is as local as it gets. There's not a bit of a touristy feel here, and English is minimally spoken (so if you can't speak some Italian, make sure you come with your translation dictionary). The bar is usually filled with locals but if you go around lunchtime it's nice and quiet. Try to grab one of the seats and soak up the atmosphere with a chilled glass of prosecco. The interior is cozy and gorgeous and is really perfect (make sure you look up at the pretty old ceiling). You can buy some limited bar snacks but you'll sometimes get lucky and be given a few crunchy breadsticks for free.

The goods news was Enoteca Il Goccetto was going to reopen this evening at 6PM according to employees when I stopped by today. I found out later there was some type of technical problem and the reopening had been postponed to 9/24/19. I guess I will have to Save the Date for another visit to Rome. This is a cozy wine bar with fully-stocked shelves. Previous to the remodel, if the bar was full you could grab a glass and join the locals outside. The bar offered small bites (such as apple salad, and salami and cheese with rustic bread)not meals prior to the remodel (Supplizio is a block away if you are hungry.) They previously had a 800 bottle selection. The daily list was written in a chalk board behind the bar. I look forward to visiting the newly remodeled shop when it is reopened. I just wish they where open all day!

With a minimum amount of tables able to be dined at inside, if you are able to grab a place, then, by all means, do it. My nephew and I enjoy finding these smaller, fine food establishments and this one did not disappoint. This was to be our last lunch in Roma so we joyfully consumed the very tasty mozzarella and ham and the Bruschetta appetizers and then I had my way with an incredible lasagna, where Il Piccolo did not skimp on the meat (as is done is some restaurants). Great meaty and cheesy flavor with a hint of spinach and some other subtle spices. Pure heaven. My nephew had ravioli which must have been great as he did not speak after receiving his plate. Highly recommended -- to one and all

The staff was friendly and, in the typical way of Rome, didn't rush us at all. We sat and read through our Rick Steves' guide book and just enjoyed a good hour of conversation and taking in the sights and sounds around us. You have to walk past a small gauntlet of eateries with waiters or hosts outside encouraging you to come to their restaurant, as is typical in areas where there are many tourists. When we came upon this Enoteca Piccolo no one was doing that here, and no one did during our entire stay. It was quaint and charming and quickly filled up with other Italian-speaking patrons. Since I've now read other reviews about their good wine selection, I'd like to go back to try that, too.

While it was delicious, it was ridiculously over priced. Probably the first time we experienced sticker shock in Rome. On top of that, the waiter was very pushy about the tip, which almost never happens. Take care.

Highly recommended!…read more We have stopped in here with friends on several occasions. It's right off of Campo de Fiori and it's a nice respite from the pushy restauranteurs and the sometimes loud musicians in the square. It's very low key and a great place to be able to sit and chat and actually hear the other people talk without having to yell. It's almost like you are sitting in a little wine cellar. Shelves of wine adorn the walls so it's very cozy. It would be a great place to bring a date for sure. On our most recent visit, the gentleman that served us was especially helpful and welcoming. We asked about the various food and wine offerings and after we settled on a cheese board, the gentleman proceeded to suggest some wine pairings and also walked us through the different cheeses on the board and how they were made and what made each of them unique. It was a very nice experience and we again made a mental note that on our next trip to Rome, we would definitely be visiting L'Angolo Divino again!
