Quite possibly one of the cutest hotels I've ever been in. There is SO much to look at and see through the halls and lobby. We spent time just walking around looking at everything. This place is really awesome. From the moment you walk in the door you feel like you're home. The people at the front counter were super nice, very chatty, and just overall great at making me feel like I had just come home from a long trip. They have a great breakfast area. Put plenty of seating, they have 24-hour coffee machines, they have a gym, and a a free... Free... Yes I said free... Guest laundromat. The rooms are neat, tidy and comfortable, and really a pleasure to stay in. I was in one of the extended stay suites, and found it to be absolutely perfect. It felt like a nice studio apartment and that worked out fine for my stay as I had work to do while I was here. They have a great breakfast in the mornings, and super nice people working those breakfasts. In fact, I can say with much authority that everybody here has been almost over the top nice. Again, one of the reasons I love Canada. Bottom line? I will absolutely stay here again next year, this is perfectly located and absolutely comfortable after a long day of working. The hotel is a revamp of the Wheels Inn, which was directed to families with its pool, games, etc. The hotel is undergoing major renovations. There's a lot of construction on the hotel property ... buildings are getting knocked down. The hotel and room were standard, nothing fancy. I thought $130 a night was a lot. I've stay in a lot of hotels and here's something I've never encountered before. The bathrooms in hotel rooms always have shampoo, condition, soap, etc. Here there's just a cheap crappy soap and a shower cap. I would have expected more from this world-wide chain. Just behind the hotel are tracks complete with smelly trains that aren't moving but are running (my room looked out at them). The staff at Reception were friendly. Self-serve breakfast is included ... cereals, bagels, yogurt, scrambled eggs, etc. No other meals are served so you have to go elsewhere ... the closest restaurants are about a five minute walk away. I had a couple hours between seminars to kill. I was able to work in the deserted lobby restaurant which has WIFI.

I had never taken a car ferry before (and especially not one over an international border) so this…read morewas quite the experience. Googlwle maps directed me here because apparently the border crossings in Detroit and Port Huron were backed up Friday afternoon. I thought there was a bridge here. Imagine my surprise when I saw it was a ferry. I just missed the boat as it was just pulling away from the dock. The US border agent thought that the ferry captain might actually turn around to pick me up. Alas that didn't happen. I asked the US border agent when it would be coming back. He said it comes back as soon as they load up on the other side. So I decided to wait (I was first in line after all.). I grabbed a seat in one of the numerous Adirondack chairs along the river and just enjoyed the cool breeze and took in the view of the river. It was about 45 minutes 1 before the ferry came back, unloaded, and reloaded with vehicles on the us side. You never get out of your car the whole time. You pay the ferry an when he comes up to your car window whole bat sea. $12 cash or charge. On the Canadian side, you drive off the boat and are greeted by one of the 6 or so Canadian border agents. You present your passport (or passport card in my case), they ask you a few questions and you're on your way. The whole experience is quite pleasant. Unlike crossing in Detroit, you're not stick in bumper-to-bumper traffic for an hour idling and inhaling fumes. You can scrotal get up and walk around before boarding the ferry. The trip itself only takes about 10 minutes. The only downside is that you have to pay and there is no duty-free shop. Totally worth it.

Be aware that if you are an American going to Canada- they will not allow you on the ferry after…read more9:00 pm despite the last ferry boat leaving at 10:00 pm. We waited in line about 30 minutes only to be told that when we were about to drive in the ferry. To say this was frustrating is an understatement. We wasted HOURS of our night when we could have just driven to Port Huron and crossed there. They need to make this policy known- and not make it a surprise.

Quiet little ferry, the next one south of the Blue Water ferry between Marine City, MI and Sombra,…read moreON. Very similar ship, but a little less going on in Walpole versus Sombra. The ferry holds ~6-9 cars, and welcomes motorcycles, bikes, small-to-midsize campers, and the like. Figure ~6 minutes to cross, with ferries leaving every ~30 minutes. Much calmer than the Ambassador Bridge, but not a great place to be in a hurry. The Michigan terminus is on a fairly built-up part of the shore; there was a classic car show when I arrived, with people parking at the strip malls across the road. The Walpole Island side (aka "Walpole Island Indian Reserve No. 46") is much quieter, with a pretty basic convenience store, a few discount tobacco shops, and not much else. Kids and dogs seemed pretty happy playing in the street, and were unconcerned by my presence.

There have been considerable improvements to the lobby and rooms if you have not stayed here in over 2 years. Nice bright lobby and the breakfast area has been refreshed with new tables and chairs and more windows which makes it seem more light and airy. There is an area by the front desk to buy snacks etc as well. Staff are friendly. Rooms have been refreshed and now have nice wood desks, wardrobes etc. Beds and linens are quite comfy, and they have a nice wood vanity with more modern counter and fixtures. There is a flat panel tv with cable, plus a small fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. One beef however, I asked for a quiet room and they put me 2 down from the main lobby and ice machine. My keys also did not work first time around and I had to go back to the main desk. Re my room location, I was hopeful it would not be a problem, but thanks to my neighbours - no such luck. The room doors when they close are still very noisy and they were in and out of their room repeatedly at 4am and using the ice machine. So much for a good nights sleep. :( Not sure I will be back -- because people just let the doors close as they will and they don't have a "soft close" feature. They serve a continental plus breakfast in the lobby. There were scrambled eggs and sausage, plus the usual (toast, cereal, bagels, yogurt, english muffins), juice and coffee/tea. Parking is on site around the building. Easy access to Hwy 2 and the 401.

Recently had a stay here in Chatham for about 3 nights and 4 days. My mom had hip replacement…read moresurgery done at the hospital, and we needed a place to stay for a few nights while she was healing post op. The staff at the hospital recommended here, and I'm glad they did, this place was wonderful, warm, welcoming and clean. I would recommend anyone to stay here. We checked in on Thursday afternoon and the wonderful staff member checked us in, joked with us, and told us where to go, where everything was and we headed on to our room. Our room was located on the second floor and the only way to the second floor was via the stairs. They had a grand staircase going up, which if you weren't able to use, you would have to stay on the first floor. The whole place was warm when coming in, and every time we were greeted by the front desk with a smile or hello. Our room was clean, when we walked in, proceeded to settle in, and use the washroom, which was also clean. The rooms inside come with a closet, a mini fridge, which they keep off to conserve energy, a microwave, tv, drawers, a desk and chair, and free wifi, which was the best part, because I had also brought my laptop to use in the meantime. The parking is also free, and there is a Tim Horton's in close proximity, but also in the mornings between 6:30am to 9:30am they had a continental breakfast, and an array of choices, such as scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea and array of juices and fruits. I didn't spend too much time in the hotel during the day, but the cleaning staff do come around to clean the room. I had requested for the pullout sofa to be made, because my dad had come to spend the last night with me before my mom was discharged so he could bring her home. They went over and above expectations and brought us extra towels as well as blankets. The staff were wonderful. The greetings from the front attendant, every time you went in or out, the cleaning staff, the continental breakfast staff, all wonderful. I would stay here again if I stayed overnight in Chatham.
