My last rental was a 2021 Toyota Sienna Limited Hybrid with low miles. I reserved the van months prior with them only having one or two in their fleet. The primary reason for a van was to use cargo space for my son's college move-in. Communication was strong from Victoria on a tight timeline of availability. Checkout out of the van encountered an issue with the rear seat that delayed my departure out of town 30 minutes. Ultimately it had to be taken in the garage and roughed up by Victoria who had to break it to fold. So I was told it would not be usable on our family 10 day trip. It was not a deal breaker and we still desired the vehicle. We later needed the rear pop up for friends we made it work. The van performed flawlessly and was extremely comfortable. The gas mileage was a staggering 33 mpg fully loaded. The round trip of over 2300 miles it averaged approximately 35 mpg. This van had all the bells and whistles on it, but ultimately it was the amazing comfort that won out. No soreness after up to 7 hour stretches. The check-in process was smooth by another employee with Victoria in a meeting. They told me an a large adjustment would take place with issues relating to the rear seat. Days later I saw the credit on my card and it was extremely generous and appreciated. I love that Toyota Rental Cars continue to be a 100% Toyota operation with newer low miles cars at a similar price you would pay any where else. If there is one drawback it's hours which have improved. Of course I will return and tell others this is where you go to rent quality automobiles and receive award winning service. I've always been happy with them but my recent sales experience is bad. I was flat out lied to and none of the the discounts or KBB values were honored. I was in a pickle and needed a vehicle so I signed a good deal but was lied to on additional discounts I was eligible for even when I showed them the discounts. 1. $1000 buyer down payment assistance not honored 2. I was charged $899 for the Banister Lifetime Warranty which is supposed to be no charge to customer 3. I showed an email and text showing $2500 over KBB for trade, they didn't honor it! None of this was honored, none. I didn't raise a stink because I thought I was getting a good deal yet I was actually told false information. Now, I know it was false and contacted them, to date no reply, nothing at all...crickets! I am highly disappointed in Banister. This is my fifth purchase from Banister, four from Chesapeake and one from Norfolk. This will be my last and will no longer recommend them.

    Terrible communication!…read more Called this location while at the airport because they had cars at their location. They told me over the phone a returning flight would dismiss the security deposit & explained how I could use my debit card if I didn't have a credit card. Either way, they told me one thing on the phone which led me to going to this location on Monticello. I get there and now I can't use a debit card and now they don't allow flights to cover deposits so now I really just wasted my time. I was hit and my car was being repaired, I was told I had a limit that insurance was paying for the rental, so I clarified with them that I do not want to go over that. The worker then stated $900 would cover me up to a month so I should not worry. I was told I would be notified if I went over and that insurance would likely extend if needed. I did not receive any kind of notification and when picking up my rental, the woman told me to disregard the return date stated on my agreement, and I could return the vehicle to Classic Collision when I had my car back. Three weeks go by, I receive a call informing me that my rental was supposed to be returned on the 5th, and I am responsible for paying the days after (2 days). I stated that's not what I was told while scheduling the rental and I do not have the money to pay for that. Then I was told I have to reach out to insurance or pay/return the car today at 12pm (it was 9am when I was called). I explained to them the adjuster was not responding and that I am being backed into a corner here and I need a vehicle. They stated they understand the situation I am in, but insisted the car still be returned today, I clarified again that I did not have the money to pay them. I am crying and frustrated on the phone and their only concern is the car being returned. The manager was speaking with me initially, and was busy with a customer when calling back, clearly not concerned with dealing with the situation. I am not shocked in reading past reviews. I AM shocked about the lack of communication. I don't understand why I was not notified on the 5th, and why I received a call requiring the car to be returned immediately. Respectfully, I was given misinformation by one of their workers and in the end was basically told to figure it out. Basic human decency is lacking.
