Updating my review from 10 years ago. New staff but same attention to customer satisfaction. Seems like they are even better at having cars available and getting customers out quickly. Cars are clean and reliable. Never had a problem with one. Even though I live close by, I'm always offered to get picked up or a ride back. I mean WTF. I'm driving eastbound on Foster Avenue on Tuesday 06/25/19. She's driving a car that belongs to her employer runs a stop sign & T Bones my car. Neither car is drivable so I have to have my car towed in and I need a rental. This is where Enterprise comes in The first car I received had a check engine light in so I called Enterprise and tried to switch out the car to one that doesn't require maintenance. Highly disappointed with the service in my local Enterprise offices. I called the Portage Park location, recommended by my loca body shop after dropping my car. As with most insurance claims my rental car was $30 per day. They told me they deal mostly in large vehicles and there would surely be an overage charge of around $10 per day. This was not acceptable since I had car shopped before calling them. So, since Allstate prefers Enterprise I called the location on Elston. They were rude and unprofessional to a point that they said if I didn't hurry and get there, they may not be able to honor my reservation because they were running out of cars. WHAT!?! I rent cars often and never came across this type of business ethic. I went online and reserved a car with Hertz in Lincoln Square and they were polite and gave me a 2022 Tesla 3 for less than $30 per day. When my repair shop took a day longer to release my car, I extended my rental, at the same price with no problems. Enterprise, better step up your game... you're losing out. read more

I rented a car for same-day pick-up, actually within an hour from the reservation. As I was on my way there, they called me that they didn't have a car in the category I had requested, but offered me a bigger car (same price) which I was fine with. The car was ready, the process easy and fast. The staff I dealt with was professional and I appreciated the courtesy call to let me know about the difference in size. Overall I couldn't have have been happier with the service and will certainly be back if I need another rental. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I drive a large SUV and was in a car accident. I decided to get my rental from State Farm and called to make my reservation. I need to have a large SUV because I have a daughter with special needs who has a customized wheelchair. They told me they had a Hyundai Palisade that they would hold for me, which is comparable in size to my current vehicle and would cost me $6/day more. I told them I was happy to pay the extra cost, and they told me to come by a few hours later to pick it up. I came by at the time that they asked, and I was told they had they had already given it to someone else. They offered me an alternative, but it was way too small to accommodate my daughter and her customized wheelchair. They did not offer to try to resolve it further, and I had to leave with no car and had to have my wife pick me up from the location. I called other nearby locations and they don't have what I need available. What a complete mess! I still don't have this resolved! read more

If you're having work done at the neighboring body shop Cosmetic Auto do not under any circumstance listen to this Enterprise branch and leave your rental there for them to pickup as a gesture of great customer service and perk of their relationship with said body shop. I fell for this scam and they called me the next day claiming over one thousand dollars in damage. Because I didn't do a walkthrough at time of drop-off this was my responsibility. I've rented a car a few times from this location...not by choice, only because they're affiliated with the body shop I take my car to when it's been in an accident. I've never had a bad experience with them... I've always had good reliable cars and the service is good. What's nice is they'll pick you up from your location, or have a car at the body shop already waiting for you. It's a hell-ish experience having a car accident regardless who is at fault, but having them makes things easier. I'll describe my last experience last week - winter...Monday morning, and a sheet of ice covered the City of Chicago and the burbs. I brought my car in early Monday morning to the body shop, Enterprise brought me back to get a car. To add to the stress, there was a wait when we got there...and a lack of cars. State Farm would only cover $25 a day and the only cars available for me were small SUVs...I didn't have it in me to argue with them so I took my Ford Escape and was on my way. I did clear things up with State Farm that anything over the $25 was being taken care of by the other party involved as they were at fault... very good. And, apparently Hertz (who has some kind of deal with State Farm) thought I was renting through them. I got a call from them later the same day asking if I was coming to pick up a car, I told them I already went through Enterprise who works with my body shop and the customer service rep said "Thank you for not choosing Hertz" Huh?!?!? Par for the course....I had an issue with them when I rented a car on vacation in LA. NEVER AGAIN. Btw...I have another upcoming vacation in LA and I'm going with Enterprise all the way.... So I received a car from this location because my car was rear ended and getting work done. I picked up the rental 6/30/18 so I can go on vacation. The gentleman had me look over the car for any damages on there already. What he didn't have me check was the plate stickers were expired on this vehicle. I was going on vacation up in WI and in Gurnee. Needless to say I had 2 cops tell me about the plate sticker and were nice enough to understand my dilemma which I don't think I should have been put in the first place. Enterprise...with all the money you charge for the rentals I would think you would keep plate stickers updated...very disappointed! read more

I couldn't ask for better, such a great experience from my online reservation to I make first phone call to check my reservation, whole customer service experience was 100% everyone in office very polite and helpful. I was wondering after reading bad reviews but everything went opposite, my c.card decline they offer me their computer to print out my bill. Even after few hours i realize i have my laptops left in trunk which saved by very professional pplzs in office and return it back to, i will highly recommend this place if you you wants rent a car with piece of mind. It is worth the extra few minutes to head over to the Enterprise in Park Ridge...where the GENTLEMEN there are friendly, are intelligent and helpful. I attempted to rent a car yesterday thru hotwire put the pick up time as 12:00 approved ... look online only to find out the company closes at 12 rush over there to pick up the car but because we have a debit card we need a bill, we live literally 4 minutes away. Ask the customer service rep if he could give us 10 minute's to run and get the bill ?! He proceeds to tell us how he has things to do and he should have been outta here already. You might as well call hotwire and cancel it . He was very rude, ignorant and did not service his customer at all. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! SCAM!!! I usually do not write reviews but I had the most atrocious experience from them. My car was in repair because someone had pulled out of a parking spot without looking while I was standing at a light. I have never had an accident or a traffic ticket. (This is just to prove that I am a responsible driver). The person who was liable for the damage had State Farm and they initially referred me to Hertz, but my repair shop convinced me to pick up a rental from this Enterprise location. Since it was closer and they did pickups, I called State Farm and changed my rental to this place. Upon arriving everything went smoothly and employees were friendly. I picked up a red Volkswagan Beetle since they only had two choices that were available. They did a very quick inspection and off I went. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE! I had the car for about three weeks, and during this time I only drove it a couple of times since I was home from break and mostly used my mom's car because the Beetle was just too tiny. When I heard that my car was finished, I went to return the Beetle. Upon parking, an employee (I believe his name was Adam) came to inspect the car. I stood there waiting somewhat tediously as I had nothing to fear, I had only used the car a couple of times to run errands and there was no problem to report. ****So he quickly scanned the car walking around and just as I thought he was finished, BAM! he pin pointed to a spot saying that there is a damage. I was so furious when I looked at what he called a damage. Indeed there was a hairline scratch just under the left headlight. It was hidden under the big eye shaped light where honestly unless someone intentionally took a sharp object and made the scratch, wouldn't be possible. And the scratch was exactly 4-5 inches, which means that I would be liable for it. (Any scratch over 4 inches according to their policy). The fact that the scratch was so thin and in a very odd spot as well as the fact that the employee did such a quick inspection on the car almost taking a glimpse of it, then pin pointing to the exact spot of the truly unnoticeable scratch made me certain that this has to be a scam. But it only gets worse from here, I told him that I really can't believe that I made the scratch and he completely just ignored me! Furious, I called my parents and the body shop. The body shop told me that I should have come to them first because such a scratch can be rubbed off with a compound wax. Well, I never damaged the car, and didn't even know the scratch existed, that's why I confidently went to return the rental! The body shop actually offered to do the repair, so I called Enterprise back about the damage and they (Adam) said I'm just going to have to wait to see if the company decides to repair it. I asked them to contact me before if they decide to have the repair made. He completely assured me that they would. Then, almost two months later, I receive an "UNKNOWN" call from Ashley this time requesting the reimbursement for the repair. I told her that you guys were supposed to call me before the repair or contact my body shop, and she said they've already made the repair on their own, and the cost is $275. She was simply asking my method of payment over the phone. THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST RIDICULOUS SCAM EVER!!!!! I cannot assume, but maybe the fact that I was a 23 year old nice girl renting a red Beetle made me seem more vulnerable. This is not a way to run a legitimate business!!! read more

I'm saddened that my very first Yelp review is negative. Unfortunately, I'm at wits end with this company. A few friends and I did a relay race and needed two vans. All 12 of us on the team have had good experiences with other Enterprise locations in the past, so we decided to get the vans from there. We were quoted a reasonable price, so we booked and were on our way. When it was time to return the vans, we found out that our quote was wrong and we were going to be charged 3x the amount what we had originally been quoted. 3 TIMES THE QUOTED AMOUNT! I understand a quote can change, but by that much? Let's be realistic. Tried to figure out how the original quote was so off and Morgan, the manager on hand, said it must have been a misquote and there was nothing he could do. We contacted the regional office, and were told that Adam would be contacting us. STILL NO RESPONSE. Not only has Enterprise lost my business and respect, it's also lost the business of my 11 teammates. I hope this review can help save others from the same frustration we are facing. Used this rental agency while my car was in the shop. The employees here are indifferent to customers, to say the least. Body shop had made reservations for me for Monday morning. Dropped my car off at body shop around 8am. Enterprise picked me up within a reasonable amount of time and drove me to their location, maybe 6 blocks away. Downhill from there. Had to be 6 people milling around waiting. If I heard "we're waiting for cars" once, I heard it a dozen times. No cars ready. An employee saw me, but proceeded to answer the phone. All the other employees, maybe 3 or 4 proceeded to ignore me and the other customers. Finally she finished her phone call. Then had difficulty finding my reservation. Then finally gave me what I think was their last car. Terrible customer service. Totally inefficient. read more

I love going here to pick up my rentals. I actually live farther than other places, but this is the best place for me. When I am usually there, I deal with Adam or Steve. They always make sure they take great car of me. If you are loyal, they will upgrade you from time to time. I am shocked at them not having five stars. I find everyone there very friendly and nice. Yes, sometimes they are busy. That goes for any business that is busy. Sometimes, and not most times because I usually rent on Fridays, they are busy, but the guys always do their best to get everyone out as soon as they can. read more

I picked up a rental and when my husband dropped it off they had him get out of the car and walk home short of our house! Manager I spoke with today was indifferent this happened I will happily take my regular rental car business to Avis in Skokie. I guess $1000 plus of future rentals is not a big deal to this location. My husband rented a car here a few days ago. There was clear damage by a previous user (small dent and scratch) on the rear bumper of the vehicle rented to us. The Enterprise employee walked around the car, noted the damage verbally (no written documentation, which was our fault for not demanding it) and we drove off. We returned the car in the same condition it was rented to us in. Two days later, we received a damage claim for damage we did not cause. When we called DRU, the story provided by the Enterprise agent was completely untruthful, and we are appalled. We have officially disputed the claim and will be reporting this Enterprise location to the Illinois Attorney General and Better Business Bureau if the fraudulent claim is pursued. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND renting from here, and if you do, please make sure that you take time-stamped photos of the car's interior and exterior as well as ensuring the agent documents preexisting damage for you and provides you with a copy of the document for your records. I wish I could give zero stars, as this was just a terrible experience. I reserved my car through CarRentals.com to get a good deal. I've done this before and had no issues. I selected enterprise as I'm familiar with them so I could rent a car and take a trip to Wisconsin for a business meeting while we were on vacation in Chicago for the holidays. I arrived at Enterprise to pick up my car only to find out that they would not take my debit card. Yes, I am well aware their site says, "may". If they won't take a debit card, it should be "will not". I could have brought one if I had known, but I prefer to not carry as I only use my credit card in emergencies. Enterprise lied TWICE about trying to contact me about not accepting debit cards for people who live out of state, first saying they tried to call me and left a message, but then admitted they did not have my full phone number (even though I gave it) and then admitted they really did not. Then they lied about emailing me about the credit card issue. So now I have to wait for an hour while my wife bundles up our two kids and drives back to bring my card. And I'm late... Thanks. This was all avoidable. If they could not contact me - admit it. If there was an issue, so some empathy. They did neither. I'll use enterprise again, but not this location. You shouldn't either. Oh, and two other people had their reservation lost while I was stuck waiting. Update: Two new guys arrived and were more empathetic than the first. I'm still late and angry, but that least it got done. read more

I have dealt with this location twice in the past two weeks. I had never been to this one before, but since my car was in the shop close by, this location was recommended to me. Of course they were friendly at first when I picked up the rental. However, when I called to state that the rental was dropped off at the shop that's when the problems, attitudes and unprofessional comments started. I spoke to the manager, Ryan and when I asked how much were the charges I was told I am being charged for 3 day's. I disputed that because I dropped the car off before the shop even opened in the morning. He had the nerve to supposedly teach a math class to me by asking me "if u have it on this day..how many days is that". Come on dude you are not talking to a kid here. First off I was not told what time I needed to drop off the car off so I don't get charged for the next day anyway. That is something that should be explained to customers upfront. Secondly, regardless of how the conversation goes, as a manager you do not tell a customer "I don't have time to argue and deal with you right now as I have to deal with other customers". Now, that was very professional. Needless to say I was upset and stated that was not professional to say to a customer. I had to give him a crash course on how that comment should have been said. Now who's teaching who here. Lol! Needless to say I will NEVER go to this enterprise again. I would rather take an Uber to another location far away then go here. It seems from reading other reviews that the staff attitudes and unprofessionalism is common here. You would think that the manager would see this and try to resolve it. Then again if the manager is the same way why expect anything different. Next time Mr. Ryan learn how to talk to your customers in a more professional manner and maybe you will get better reviews and not get an attitude from your customers. read more

My neighbor has been renting his vehicles here for years and I decided to give them a try also. They are very close to my home so getting a car from them is very convenient. This is probably the 6th or 7th time I have rented from them in the past year. I must say, employees go above and beyond to satisfy. They are all so courteous and really care about there customers. This is like the 4th time I've rented a car with them over the last 10 years or so. I don't remember any negative experiences with them. Quite the opposite, once they gave me a free convertible upgrade because that's all they had on hand when I needed a car (I ended up switching to a different car after a day or so because it was too flashy and I didn't like the attention, but that's another story:p) Most recently, this past week, I needed a car once again to get repairs done on our vehicle after a hit and run. So they again gave me a free upgrade to a bigger, better, 2015 vehicle because they didn't have any in my desired price range at the time. AND the guy that helped me (I won't name him in case he can get in trouble for it) hooked me up by marking that the car he gave me had half a tank of gas, not the actual full tank that it had. So I could bring it back with half a tank vs the full one. I didn't ask for that, but I appreciated the nice gesture. The guys that work there are also always, above and beyond. read more
