Not clue who is managing this company but is ridiculous how much stress they can put in customers, Truck driver here so my truck broke down and I ended at the shop and I ask shop personnel about Uber,lift or any other way to get around while in town because truck repair will take a few days but they said is none of Uber or similar so I ended doing a reservation on line and someone from the shop dropped me over the enterprise office, when I arrived door was lock with a sign in the door about they will be back, I ended waiting for a long time so I called the enterprise local number and the lady who answered the phone it said it was not vehicles available so how is I was able to booked on line to that point I didn't had I way to go anywhere so I ended walking almost 3 miles to a hotel near shop where my truck is,,, thanks enterprise for that horrible walk in the hot sun plus shady neighborhoods,,, I hope y'all have a great day!!! So I I suppose to talk to y'all when is not a good link in that response plus when I called the local number several times nobody answered and they answering box is full!!! I do not recommend this location. I had a family emergency occur Sunday night. My car is in the shop, so early Monday morning I went on the Enterprise website hoping to get a car Monday afternoon and was thrilled that my reservation went through and I received a confirmation number. I started packing after notifying family that I would be on my way that afternoon. Mid morning I received a phone call telling me that they did not have any cars available and might have one tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. I called first thing Tuesday morning and was told that they "might" have a car by Wednesday afternoon, but that they really need 2-3 days notice. He then transferred me to a reservation office who said I would have a car by 07:00 AM Wednesday morning. When I asked if they would guarantee a car would be there she waffled and said "well, they have cars due to come in, but no I can't guarantee that one will be there." I gave up in disgust And found another way. What kind of a system is this? The reservation system is not reliable or connected to the actual Rental place. I thought I had a car only to be told that my reservation confirmation was worthless. I do not recommend this rental place...they are not reliable and do not honor confirmed reservations. read more

I had an extremely friendly lady set me up with exactly what i needed. Then shortly later a gentleman named Amin called me and changed the plans that were made less than an hour before. My call was picked up and sent directly to hold, then he was very short with his answers, came across very rude. Total waste of time! The transmission in my husband's truck went out this morning leaving us needing a second vehicle until his was repaired. I went online and reserved a vehicle to be picked up in Effingham at 1 pm today. When we arrived at Enterprise we were informed by the sales clerk that they didn't have any rentals available until Tuesday of the next week (7 days). I asked how I was able to reserve a vehicle online if none were available and he stated that it was his responsibility to watch the computer and call and let me know that they didn't have a car for me but he was busy and hadn't gotten to it! (That still didn't explain how I was able to reserve a vehicle in the first place if there were none available!) I then called the number listed on the website for the Mattoon Enterprise. I explained to the CSR what had happened in Effingham and asked if there were any vehicles available in Mattoon. She assured me there were, took my reservation information, and we drove the 40 miles to Mattoon thinking we were going to pick up a rental. The same thing happened when we got to Mattoon!! No vehicle available and they wouldn't have any until the following week. When I asked why I was told on the phone that there was a vehicle reserved for me, the CSR stated that the person I had spoken to on the phone was just there to take reservations and she did not have any idea of what was actually available on the lot. I then asked why I was able to reserve a vehicle online when there weren't any available and he said he didn't know. Never, at any point, did either of these gentlemen so much as apologize for the inconvenience they had caused us! This was very unprofessional and caused a fruitless 80 mile roundtrip to a neighboring town that was a total waste of time!!!! Both the website and the customer service number should have been able to tell me that nothing was available currently. False advertising and very poor customer service, Enterprise!!!!!!! The enterprise moto "we'll pick you up" is false advertising when you have no cars available. Made a reservation May 15th for a rental to be picked up on June 10th. Literally, 2 hours before we have to pick the car up, we get a call stating they have no cars available. Super appreciative that he called and let us know rather than showing up shit out of luck. I called a few other enterprise facilities(mattoon, Champaign, Glen Carbon, Springfield, mt. Vernon and Decatur) with no availability because they had no vehicles. But, I was able to reserve a car to be picked up at each location. After making said reservations, I call to make sure the car is available, and there are none available at every single location I listed. I know there are a crap ton of shortages going on in the world today, but for a nationwide company to not have something that we booked damn near a month ago, is very unprofessional. Sad thing is, this is the first time we have dealt with enterprise, as we usually rent a vehicle from the airport when we fly into(first time not flying). We will never use your business ever again. My husband rented a car online, requested pick up. On the afternoon of the rental, he waited for his pick up but no one showed up. He called the office, the guy answered the phone and confirmed the reservation. When my husband told him he was waiting to be picked up, the guy said - we don't have anyone here to pick you up. So many things wrong with this situation. The inconvenience it caused was indescribable. Just received information that the store in Effingham, IL is closed and being routed to the Matoon branch. Found this out after confirming a schedule and paying to pick up a van that was never received. Don't use that branch's old number as someone is using it to scam people. read more

1st experience: Went to office on the day of my reservation and there was no one there. I waited; but eventually left, because no one showed-up. I got a call later that day, saying that they had no cars. 2nd experience: Calling the office on the day of my reservation to schedule a pick-up and the call goes straight to a fax machine and hangs-up. We were getting a car through Enterprise while our vehicle was having body work done. We transport my disabled Mother to and from doctor visits, etc. We were given an SUV that we could not get her into so we returned to Enterprise and there was a minivan similar to ours there but they would not let us have it because it was reserved. Another minivan was also there that they said they don't rent out??? I would not do business with the Effingham, IL rental staff if I were renting on my own, but ours was an insurance claim. We got a flat tire on our rental on a road trip through the state. Just happened to be at the exit of this enterprise. We called in that we were coming in and when we arrived he had us go straight over to the shop across the street (they didn't have another minivan to switch us into, being a holiday weekend). The shop took our car right in and had a new tire on the car in 10 min. It was so quick and easy. We really appreciated the help! First time ever using a rental car service and I thought they were great! They upgraded the SUV rental to a luxury SUV...and it was luxury. No problem checking it out or in. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Really the only con that I had was catching them on the phone for questions. I would definitely use Enterprise again. read more

Disappointing. I tried to rent a car from Thurs to Monday. Explained I was disabled and had to take my disabled grandson to Children's hospital in St. Louis, etc. My only choice was to get their weekend special with a specific amount of miles. Or pay full price. So I pay full price for just 2 days to get unlimited miles. I go to pick up the car and the bring me a 2 door vw bug. I could barely get out of it and quite impossible with my disabled grandson. I explained the situation AGAIN. They said fine, but I'd have to pay for an upgrade and wait for a car to be brought from another city. In the meantime I call my daughter and she explains that she looked up online prices for me, it was cheaper to book online! As well as I could have gotten unlimited miles for the entire weekend at an amazing rate around $20 a day.. I tell the guy this.. he says, yea.. but now that you've upgraded you can't. I asked why he hadn't told me this when I was trying to get the car unlimited miles before this!? I get a laugh, shrugs his shoulders and oh well you couldn't use that car anyways, right?
