This review is for the Enterprise location on Throckmorton Street, Freehold. I hit a deer in August, so through my insurance company (Allstate) they made all the arrangements for me to get a rental car from Enterprise. The day that I was dropping off my car at the collision center I called them and they picked me up from there and brought me back to the office. I filled out the paperwork with Jacqueline and it was seamless. They did take a major credit card to hold just in case there was any damage to the car when I brought it back. The car had a half a tank of gas and she told me that I had two options when returning it. Either fill it up myself to (in my case) the half way point, or I could prepay for the gas at $ 3.30 per gallon (which I took) and they would charge me the $ 3.30 a gallon from whatever point I was at to the the half way point. At the time of this review gas prices are $3.50, so that was a good deal. Check-in was very easy and took maybe 30 minutes, she walked around the car with me, etc I signed and she sent me on my way. Very easy. Nine days later I was back to return the rental. Very easy process, with no problems. I would definitely rent from there again if I have to. Btw, the Chevy Malibu which I rented was clean and well maintained, only a year old. When they brought me back to the collision center a staff member drove me in a Dodge pickup which had just been returned and again, very clean. Just as a heads up, they are located right by the Route 9 overpass, it could be easy enough to miss them. read more

The staff was doing outstanding job picking me up and dropping off at body shop.There was always message on my phone ahead of time. Car was in excellent condition even sanitized. I tried to rent a car last minute. Customer service confirmed the reservation At 11:45am. I Arrived at office at 11:57 ( they close at 12). Door was already locked. I knocked and lady came to the door to say they were closed and she had to drive home an hour and a half away. I told her that customer service confirmed me and told me to get there before 12. She then claimed all vehicles were sold out - even though I saw several in the lot. Not a good customer experience. read more

They put me on hold and apparently went on vacation. I guess they forgot I was there. Good thing it wasn't an emergency. When the time came to actually pick up the car they screwed that up too. The insurance company was supposed to pick up the bill but someone along the line screwed up and entered it wrong. Of course, they didn't tell me until I was there, at the desk, to pick up the car. Had they informed me on one of the 50 phone calls they made to me to verify the reservation that there was an issue, I would have been able to straighten out the mess. Not even mention did they put on hold $300 as a deposit. even though my insurance company is covering my rental, that never happened before. I don't recommend this place!!!!! I'd give this location one star with the service we received from a manager, but since they were in the wrong, they upgraded our car. In short, DON'T talk to their manager, Salma. She is completely misinformed , condescending and who knows if she's going to turn you away too. We were traveling from Hawaii and picking up the car early in the morning. The moment we arrived we provided the necessary info required: a driver's license and a valid credit card. One of the managers, Salma, was assisting us, informed us in a very condescending tone that we needed a passport to drive in New Jersey if we were visiting out-of-state. "It's state law," and told us to look at this framed info on the side of us if we didn't believe her. Naturally, we assumed she was right but this would change everything for our trip because we needed a car. If this was the law like she said, then we can't rent anywhere. We asked if possibly we came back with a photo of the passport because there's no way if we had it shipped it would make it there in time. She said no. We brought up the fact we've rented cars before at this location a few months ago and this law was never brought up. She gave us more excuses. We left the location and I looked into the "law." It had mentioned that those who travel INTERNATIONALLY needed to provide a passport with their ID. Our driver's licenses in Hawaii literally have USA in the corner and I questioned if she thought we weren't from a US state. We look all round at other rental locations and they had mentioned NOTHING about needing an additional government ID to rent a car in New Jersey. I contact customer service as if I was inquiring on making a new rental, just to see if what they said matched with Salma. Misty informed me that all I would need was my driver's license and a credit card. I told her that I was turned away for not having a passport as well. Misty was great and said that she contacted the location to push through an auto approval. She said the location would be in contact with us to pick up the car. Great, except Salma called us back. She said she didn't understand why the rep did that but she was willing to assist us if we brought in a PHOTO of the passport. NOW it's ok to show a photo of the passport when SHE told us that we couldn't. If this was such an important "law" then she can't be accepting pictures of IDs. So I told her "You do realize that Hawaii is a part of the US?" She told me she was well aware of that. I questioned her why we contacted THEIR customer service who told us we have all the necessary info and pushed for auto approval? She even questioned the name of the rep we spoke to! She continued to fight us to get a passport. I decided to contact customer service AGAIN to give feedback. If we were in the wrong, I get it. But if it was a law then why is a manager saying it's alright that a photo of my passport is an acceptable form of ID? If we had to get it, Hawaii is a 6 hour difference from Jersey, we'd have to inconvenience our family members to get into our home. If it's early morning in Jersey, it'd be way too early for our older family members. I'm not going to inconvenience them to find our passports ESPECIALLY if this is a made up law for out of state residents. Hours we paid for and getting nothing of it. We can't rent cars our entire trip! We thankfully end up getting a call from another manager, Brittany, who apologized on Salma's behalf and explained that they'd drop off the car for us. Even the man who dropped off the car said they were working long hours so they might not be all there. We dropped off the car and Salma apologized, but said that they have so many policies change over time. The example she used is that they have to ask those from Puerto Rico for passports. Well, YES because they are a TERRITORY of the US, not a STATE. Seriously Salma, please get your facts right because this was honestly the worst experience. Didn't even bother to check to see if she was right and she's a MANAGER. Don't know how many others she's turned away. The trouble we went through was completely unnecessary and a waste of time. Thankful for the upgrade but we are definitely not returning to this location. read more

I was fortunate to receive a car through Geico due to a car accident. Be prepared for a deposit on the car (regardless if the accident wasn't your fault). But they do credit it back after the return. I also received a pickup at R and A Auto Body, in Morganville. Enterprise was early which was great bc so was I. Billy checked me out at the desk and made sure I was comfortable with the car I received, which was very much appreciated. The rental was a 2019 Bmw X2. It was clean and it rode extremely quiet. This is more like 3.5 stars, but good nonetheless. Does its job, with renting cars. I'm from NYC, but of course like any other suburb in the United States of America, you need a car to get around a place like Freehold NJ. This place is good because it's right off the 139 bus line that leaves from Port Authority. Though when I called to see if there was a bus stop closer to this place than the Freehold Center (the main terminal and cross point in center of Freehold), they said they would come pick me up. That was pretty sweet (they did) but there is a stop closer - unless you are carrying a lot of stuff, you can easily walk there. it's the first stop off Rt 9 on Throckmorton St. You can see the office right from there. Cons: this place does NOT offer EZPass for their car rentals. This is the toll capital of the United States. I have an EZPass, but I don't exactly carry it around at all times. Like other rental agencies, they NEVER have economy cars. I didn't get charged for an upgrade, which was good. Lastly, Enterprise offers you to return the gas tank the way you found it. While it sounds good to not have to rush around to fill up the tank prior to returning it, when you start w/ a 1/4 tank, it's not exactly pleasant to have to rush around to fill it when you receive it. Not open past 6 or 7 most weeknights, definitely not open on weekends. Do suburbanites not need cars on the weekends? More flexibility please. Anyway, I would definitely rent a car from here again. Such a shame that management has changed. I was a frequent customer and noticed a decline in customer service over the past year. Even when there were problems, the old management team always did their best to right the wrong. I hadn't rented in a few months and had a discount from the last fiasco. I was warned by a friend who is also a frequent renter that it was getting worse and to be aware that they just had a situation with the new manager (Salma) who had promised to take care of an erroneous charge and then she did not. Salma was absolutely amazing! She helped me from the moment I called and made the entire transaction effortless. She reminded me to make sure that I received a confirmation from my car insurance company, and did everything in her power to help me. Her patience was never ending, as I asked a million questions and changed my mind about what car I was going to take a few times. She was so pleasant and sweet. I've been going to this rental place for a long time they've been through a lot of changes but recently had a wonderful experience here. For many years I had a corporate membership discount when my father was alive last year I had an incident and lost my terrific rate. It took time to be able to afford what I'm used to doing because the cost of car rentals in New York is sky high. There was a lovely manager who gave me a terrific weekend rate within my means Extended and kept help me through a difficult time during Labor Day. When there was an error made by accident he help me out in so many ways. They truly do customer service and they also offer a 24 hour garage drop off which no other location does. my experience was horrible,I was involved in a car accident that was not my fault, so I called enterprise to get a cat through the other party's Insurance so I had to wait 4 days to get the car I wanted so I did, I called back 3 times in those 4 days to make sure the car was going to be back in time for my rental, they said everything was good to go and even called me when the car I was going to rent got returned, then once I get to the enterprise the said that I was not old enough to rent the car they had me wait 4 days to be able to get. if I could give me the rating a 0 star I would read more

Excellent customers service within office but I was not at all pleased with vehicle assigned to me the 2nd week that I rented, after July 4th weekend. It was a Ford Focus, which I was infirmed was an upgrade from a compact. I do not believe so but...OK. Had a Altima the first rental week, and that was a nice car. I was a 5 star customer that was on a highway in North Carolina that allows trucks and tractor trailors to travel with tires untreading or in my case flying at me and almost killed 3 people in my family. I got back to NJ and worked out a deductible because that is all I could agree too. I have no capacity to be burdened with the expense this tractor trailor caused on a 2018 White Tucson. The branch still took my weekly payment and then took the keys from me! Since I had no notification at all I was left to be picked up from Freehold NJ. I put over 28, 000 out of pocket over 4 years and the 3800 worth of damage which I agreed to the first 1000 was not considered. They left me without a way home my son came and they still processed unathorized a payment. I had to close my account. Once they couldn't work with me and denied me services yet demanded that amount when their LOSS DEPT should investigate the location where their car was struck. I provided all info as I was also stranded 10 hours from home and waited 5 more hours in 92 degree weather with all our stuff to be switched into another car. The locations had no cars at all - I had to be burdened with a 15 passenger van from NC to SC then back to NJ not knowing if we had enough gas to get home safely! Once they told me the rentals were revoked since I couldn't pay on the spot - I decided to take my business elsewhere. No one has 3800 on the spot very suspicious and impossible. Note: I have used this location for the past 4 car rentals I've needed without issue, HOWEVER, Attempted to rent a car using my "club" membership. It enabled a weekend rate with limited mileage. I called to try to edit it since I needed unlimited mileage. They transferred me to booking and I was told it wasn't going to be a problem. Booking had me talk to a woman that I had trouble understanding and would interrupt when I spoke. After 20 minutes of her not understanding what I was requesting and me having her repeat almost everything I requested to be transferred. I was "disconnected". I called back the local office who apologized & worked me through the pricing. I was told to rebooked it online & call back the next day for the adjustment. When I called back with the confirmation I was told the price was going to be $70 more. We went back & forth and when I agreed to a price and told her when I planned on dropping it off (I couldn't pick the time I really needed because it was "after hours", the price suddenly increased another $40. I ended the conversation (now over 1/2 hour) and booked through another company. When I called to ask if they would honor a competitor's price they said no, corporate doesn't do that. The worst, most unprofessional company EVER!!!!! I would not even give a one star if I can do a review this way. I searched this location via Google yesterday and using the phone number provided under the address called to make reservations. I explained to them that I was involved in the accident and received a letter from Geico (other driver's company) that they take 100% liability on a claim. I explained the person on the phone that I am not familiar with the rules in this situation and please explain to me how it works. She asked me if I already had a reservation number from Geico, to which I explained that not yet as I am awaiting from someone at Geico to call me back and she went ahead and told me that its ok, I can just use a claim number and they'll deal with Geico directly. She than told me that there is a $50 refundable security deposit and said the car is going to be available the next day at 7:30AM. The next day we had to wake up extra early to get to the place and once we got there, they looked at us like we have three eyes. They told us that we need to pay on the spot for the whole rental and than deal directly with Geico to get reimbursed. On top they advised us that the deposit is not $50 but $250. When we called manager and I spoke with him, I asked him how is it possible that we were given completely different information day ago, he said that we called their central reservation line and they don't know what they are doing there. This is completely unprofessional and scary that the employees of one and the same company tell different information. When I asked manager to call Geico and straighten it out, he said they don't do that as well. Hmmm... It sounded like a complete set up and all they were hoping for that they'll get people to rent a car anyway since we are on the spot and so early in the morning. How can a location advertise their phone number and not have a local phone line for people to call about reservations???? I hope Enterprise goes out of business really soon.
