I reserved a 15-passenger van, 6+ months in advance for a 70+ person family reunion over the July 4th weekend. I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Enterprise. I was quoted $182 for a standard rental, and before booking, I reviewed their policy, which clearly says: "The deposit amount will be stated in the reservation confirmation email." Well -- there was no deposit amount listed anywhere in my confirmation email. I assumed, based on their policy, that the $300 deposit only applied to luxury or sports vehicles. But when I arrived to pick up the car, I was told a $300 deposit was required for all vehicles, completely contradicting both their policy and the quote I was given. Their Deposit Amount policy first states it's a "potential" of incurring additional amounts. Therefore, it is not guaranteed but possible. Then their policy list the cars this "potential incurring additional amounts" is regarding to and the vehicle I reserved is not on that list which was a simple basic Compact SUV. This unexpected charge completely ruined my trip and left me scrambling. Enterprise failed to honor their own policy, and the lack of transparency is unacceptable. If the deposit had been clearly disclosed upfront -- like the policy claims -- I could have planned accordingly. Will never rent from this location again. Reserved a car after arriving in Missouri and showed up at 8:15am for the 8:00am reservation. When I arrive there were 2 customers ahead of me being assisted. One said he had been there 30 minutes and the other was being helped when I walked in. There was 1 lady behind the counter...she goes outside to show the other customer their car and takes forever. While waiting 4 more customers walk in. At 8:45 I finally get up to the counter and give them my reservation only for them to tell me they DO NOT have my car. And they claimed they tried to call me but didn't have my contact info. She proceeds to say well we can upgrade you into a different car and I said okay as I had an appt at 9:30 She proceeds to go out to the cleaning area...to talk to the other employees who never came out to assist the other 5 ppl waiting in the lobby. When she comes back she says, she actually cannot upgrade me and they are sold out. Do not rent from this location. This is the only time I have ever had a reserved car given away prior to my arriving to pick up my rental. I received a voicemail while I was on the plane on my way to Missouri so I did not receive it until after I landed at 1am. The employee, (whose name it was impossible to hear on the voicemail) let me know he may not have the type of car I reserved but would have something else. He also reminded me to bring a major credit card. There was no request for a call back. My pickup time was set for 9am. I was delayed and did not arrive until about 1pm. I received no calls from this office whatsoever on the day of my reservation. When I arrived at this location, I was casually informed that since I was late, they gave my car away. The employee that had called me the night prior was immediately defensive; "I called you yesterday!" I asked if I could reserve another car and was told the best they could do was a reservation two days later. Apparently there was a waiting list of 8 people ahead of me that I was not on despite having booked a reservation. I was certainly later than my pickup time, but I take issue with not being called even once prior to their giving my car away and cancelling my reservation. The attitude of both men present was also defiant and unapologetic--this was my fault for not calling back after the office was closed in response to a voicemail that did not ask for a call back. I will NEVER book another rental with this company ever again! I am so very frustrated. I had reserved a premium SUV many weeks in advance. I even called and verified that my reservation was good to go twice, including the week of. I was assured that everything was good to go. The morning that I was to pick up the vehicle, they called to say they don't have my vehicle available, and didn't know when they would. They were not helpful in finding a replacement. I was made to call around on my own... I have now spent more than 3 straight hours on the phone calling 11 different locations (some more than an hour drive from my location) with no avail. There is NO ONE available to help me with this matter. No manager or supervisor available whatsoever. I have called customer service twice and was told that they will "escalate my issue" and someone will call me back on Monday possibly (it's Friday)!!?? I was supposed to have already left for my trip and now my kids and I have been left stranded with absolutely NO HELP from anyone in this terrible company. Please tell me, what is the point of making a reservation if they have ZERO plans in place to make sure they can follow through on their end. Your mistakes should NOT be the customers responsibility! So far so good. I've rented from this Enterprise two different times and have been very satisfied on both occasions. I do like to call ahead to speak with them about getting a ride to the company as well as make sure the rental is available and something I want to drive. The only thing I do not like is pressure to add extra insurance which is $15 dollars a day. You cannot call to have it stopped but have to stop and take the car back in for inspection. I shouldn't have been mislead that it only takes a phone call to get it stopped.. other then that, I have been very pleased with the speed I have been checked in and out and the cars always run well. read more

We got stuck in Missouri after a hawk flew into our truck and made some damage. While our truck was going to be in the shop we decided to rent a car. Fred was awesome and got us all checked in and in a car within minutes. We thankfully got our car back the next day so we didn't need the car for much longer but even when returned it it was also super smooth and Fred was great help again! The reason I and many others use Enterprise is because they pick you up at your house and return the ride to your home after you return the car. This was a great service for many of us. I reserved a car today however, only to find out that they have stopped this service and have left me in the lurch. I will have to cancel my reservation because I cannot get to the office. I have rented twice now, the first was because I got in an accident and the other person's insurance paid for me to rent from here. They said they would pick me up from the repair shop and it took an HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE minutes for them to drive 0.6 miles down the road to get me. They then had no cars available because I "didn't get there sooner"?! So they had to scramble to find me something and I had to wait another 30 minutes for that car to get cleaned. There was something wrong with that car which I found out on my way to work (which I was then ridiculously late for) so I had to return it which they kindly replaced without issue. This is the ONLY reason I am leaving two stars is because they at least tried to make that right. Today, I had to bring my car back in because the repair place nicked the paint job and agreed to repair it and give me a rental in the meantime. This time Enterprise only took 15 minutes to arrive, but they did so in a rental for another person so I had to wait for them to do the walk around with that person which took 30 more minutes. When we get to the Enterprise shop, they are (again) out of cars in the size the repair shop agreed to reimburse so my option is to go down or to pay $2 a day for an upgrade. I agree to pay for the upgrade because, at this point, I just need a car because I have to get to work. She says they just need to clean it. That takes about 20 minutes and, as they drive it out to give me the keys, another customer remarks that there is something dragging under the bottom of it. The employees confirm that car is no longer available. So now I have to pay an extra $3 a day for another upgrade and wait another 20 minutes for that car to get cleaned. In the meantime, ELEVEN customers who arrived after me have come and gone with their cars. I understand that they probably had different car packages than mine which enabled them to get through sooner, but I can't chalk both of this incidents up to just bad luck. I think something more could have been done to expedite this process that I had an appointment for. Maybe, knowing I was coming, they could have not given away all the cars in the size I needed and made sure one was washed before I got there would have been a start. Comping the upgrade would have been another option. It's not about the money, but, I was AGAIN ridiculously late for work due to them not having anything together or organized and wasting my time waiting for a car to get cleaned that was damaged anyways. To be fair, she did offer me a 10% of coupon for a future rental there, which is worthless because I will never willingly be returning here. Update: Enterprise did reach back out to me and tried to make this right. the worst ever. called and made the reservation, same day. stood in line outside in 90 degree sunshine for 57 minutes. was skipped over the first time, girl said she thought i was waited on. finally took my information and went inside, came out 10 minutes later and said they had no cars. wtf??? not saying they are racist, but i was the only white guy there. there was an older black guy who had problems with the manager also, so...... if it wasnt for the fact i'm 100% disabled (no leg) I may have pushed the issue, but i didn't I went down the block to HERTZ, where i went inside (vs waiting outside) , was immediately taken care of by the manager and the reservationist. they were super friendly and helpful. This location is a cluster on Fridays and Saturdays. We had traditionally rented at the KCI airport or Liberty locations, but we thought we'd try this one because it was a little more convenient on the days we needed to pick up a rental. First time was on a Saturday around 2:00 pm, and was pure chaos - even though we arrived at our rental time and had confirmed the rental by phone the day before, the car wasn't ready. There's no organization to the waiting system other than the consideration of customers, they always have a radio playing loudly, and it seems like there is no communication between customer service or cleanup staff. The first time I rented from this location was on a Saturday in June '14. We had reserved the rental to be picked up at 2:00 pm, confirmed that time by phone the day before, yet when we arrived, it was not ready. I just wrote this off to it being a Saturday. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. When I returned it just before 2:00 pm on the following Monday, they were as disorganized and overwhelmed as they had been on Saturday. Should've seen the signs. I scheduled another rental for Friday, July 25, getting an el-cheapo economy car for a trip to save on gas - our van's gas mileage sucks, and the cost of the economy car rental and gas for it would be less than the cost of gas for the van. Yeah, like I said, it sucks. I confirmed the pickup time for 5:00 pm, and arrived a bit early, knowing that they might be a little busy. That would have been an understatement. The term that comes to mind starts with "cluster," but this is a family channel, so I shan't complete the phrase. They had six people working, nobody seemed to know was going on, and cars weren't ready. And my "economy car" rental turned out to be a Dodge Journey, instead of my desired car - last time we had a Toyota Yaris, which averaged around 38 mpg. The Journey will be lucky to get half that. I plan to take it up with the manager on Monday to see if there will be any adjustment in my rental price to make up for the gas mileage of the Journey. I returned the car today (7/27) and the manager gave me a refund to make up for the extra expense for gas, so I've upgraded the review from 2 stars to 3. It's OK, but in my opinion, it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Making up for it helps, but I'm still going to stick with my preferred location of Liberty, MO from now on. read more

We recently needed a rental car and with our insurance we could get one through enterprise. We went to the location at 3445 S Noland Rd indelendence, Mo. When i asked the associate or so called manager for verification of a request that i had, all he said was you have my word thats it. Was not offered any kind of paperwork varifying anything. This is unlawful and as far as i know illigal to not even be given a rental agreement upon request. I would not recommend going to this establishment for a rental. Seems really shady. Not to mention that the associate we were dealing with was upbeat and perkey about telling us we dont need to show them any information we did have and politely telling my significat other and i to shut up. read more

I completely understand why this location has a 2 star average. Please take a look at my 60+ Yelp reviews to see that I'm an incredibly fair customer. I made a reservation on my Expedia account to pick up a car on 9/7 and return on 9/11. When I walked in I wasn't kindly greeted with a "Hi, welcome to Enterprise." Or "Hello, how are you?" Instead a Caucasian male, about 6 feet tall, short light hair, late 20's to early 30's said, "What can we do for you?" He was not pleasant, he seemed annoyed that he had to get out of his chair. I told him that I had a reservation and he said he needed a credit card and drivers license - totally fine. I open my purse and see that my business debit card is laying outside my wallet and grab it to put it inside. I don't hand it to him, I don't even say anything because I'm still digging for my wallet and he begins a small speech about how he needs a credit card and that he cannot accept a debit card of any kind. While this may not sound rude, it was ALL in his tone - he was incredibly condescending. At which point I said, "I know the policy, I heard what you requested the first time, I was just getting the card out of my way. You shouldn't assume I'm giving it to you and explain this to me AGAIN as if I'm an infant who misunderstood." I then hand him my Chase Southwest card and let him know that literally every time I travel they decline my card at Enterprise, it has happened at this location even. The card declines and I let him know I'll call my husband and have him reach out to Chase as the account is in his name. At this point instead of being kind and reassuring as ANY retail or service worker should be when a card is declined he treats me as though I am absolutely beneath him, wasting his time, and have no money. He was said, "Well I've never heard of that happening, it's never happened here." Really? Sir, I worked in retail sales for 10 years, I own two small business and I have had people's cards declined more times than I can remember. You know what it means? Nothing. It doesn't mean that person doesn't have money, it doesn't mean they're a liar, it doesn't mean their beneath you. My Chase card has been declined at a freaking $0.50 parking meter, it means nothing. At this point he walks away without saying anything because apparently my husband was not contacting the card holder quickly enough. When I get the okay from my husband I let him know he can run it again, he does and it declines, again not a huge issue until he looks at me as if I am beneath him and wasting his time. At this point I ask if we could split the payment but then realize I didn't even bring my other credit cards because personally, I don't see the point in using credit when you've got more than enough cash and I prefer to avoid credit card fees that most places charge. He said that they can't split the payment today anyway but only when the car is returned but whatever, like I said I didn't have the cards on me. I then ask if my husband can use his card over the phone, "No we need to swipe it." Again, I've rented MANY cars from Enterprise over the years, I'm a business owner and I travel often, this is not my first visit and the last time this happened the Enterprise location was incredibly accommodating and took my husbands card over the phone. He then tells me that the airport Enterprise will allow me to use my business debit card with my CA ID but he cannot. I then say that I still have my MO ID, granted it has a hole punch but it's not expired, he says he cannot use that. Okay, sure I understand there are policies and procedures to follow. I then say, "So you're not willing to do anything to help me here, but you're telling me to go all the way to the airport where they will?" To which he says yes. I admit at this point my tone was not the kindest, but who would be after being treated like trash? At this point he has made me feel AWFUL and like I mentioned above, is not how retail/service workers are trained to treat people. I then say that "Clearly there is nothing you can do to help me and honestly you've been kind of a dick from the moment I walked in so I'll be taking my business elsewhere." Instead of apologizing for being an ass he tells me that he hasn't been rude and tells me I am rude and that I need to leave. You know what? I was kind of rude but it was only in response to his poor attitude from our initial interaction, but I was calm and really reasonable. I'm APPALLED by this lack of respect and customer service. I have never and would never treat a customer like he treated me. I honestly believe that part of his poor treatment came from my appearance which honestly makes me laugh, maybe in Independence, MO he can't appreciate vintage Levi's denim jeans, a Harvard alumni shirt, a make up free face, and a covered chest. I had a reservation for a vehicle, but when I called to see about coming to get picked up they told me that they would not have one till the following morning. I called later in the afternoon to make sure that I can pick up the vehicle the next morning, and they said it would be ready at 6:30. I asked them, in the morning? The guy said no 6:30 p.m. I told him that I couldn't miss another day of work and needed to have the car in the morning. He was going to see if I can pick it up in the morning from his manager. When he came back to the phone he said, "we are only open until 6 p.m." I said again, "no I need the car in the morning." He told me to hold while he talked to his manager again. When he came back this time he said, "the car wasn't available until the following day." I will not be doing any business with Enterprise ever again because of this incident. My car was hit by someone going 50MPH while I was at a dead stop. That was legitimately less painful and stressful than getting a car from these people, even though the insurance company called and made a reservation for me!! I called with a few questions before continuing with the process and nobody could give me a direct answer, or even the same answer as the previous person I had talked to. I asked to speak with the manager, was put on hold for over half an hour--only for someone to pick up and immediately hang up on me. Finally, I drove my totaled car down to their location because I was so fed up. The manager was in my face, disrespectful, could not answer the most basic questions, etc. When I finally DID get things sorted out with them, it was more than two hours after I had initially called them, and then I had to sit around waiting for them to wash my car that had been reserved for over five hours. Unfortunately my vehicle was hit by someone else whose insurance provided me with a rental car.After the rental was returned EnterPrise contacted me stating there was over due balance. Erin asked me to contact Allstate I said no problem beings as I was not responsible for any payment I told her we weren't to be charged. She said okay go ahead and contact Allstate and get back with her. She charged my card not only taking the deposit but trying to charge for 2 additional days. When I called to ask why I was charged after speaking with her a young lady Emily was helpful and apologetic however when she put me thru to Erin her complete lack of professionalism was disgusting. Not only did she lie when I had called her back about the additional days she charged me for them anyways. On the phone she began getting an attitude when I told her she lied to me. As I was explaining the problem to Her she hung up on me. I called back and irate now Asked her if she always hangs up on clients when she can't handle a complaint she tried to deny hanging up on me. I asked if she had an employee id number for the complaint I am filing with the company and the better business bureau and she tells me she doesn't have to let me speak to her that way. Since I was actually talking calm and she was the one talking over me which they will hear in their recorded call I hung up on her. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ENTERPRISE. They overcharge and screw people who shouldn't be paying. I'm not. The drunk driver who hit my car but they sure made me jump thru hoops. Of course I go to the most unorganized, unprofessional, and by far the most cluster filled tiny parking lot I rented a car while mine was in the shop for 3 days ( those 3 first days I had the 32$ a day insurance added I came back on the 3rd day to renew the car and take that 32$ insurance off guy goes out to "check or look it over " and I can see him through the glass and he never even walked all the way around nor do I recall him even opening the door to look inside he was literally back inside so fast it was unreal) also when pulling into the parking spot which was pretty difficult considering I'm in a Nissan Altima and they're wide and very low the the ground and yes I could have pulled in to far and hit the round concrete thing with the light poles on it or the concrete bumper in the parking spots and cracked the very bottom of the bumper because it's right there in between the parking spots but he didn't look all around the car like he was supposed to so now I'm being charged a 500$ deductible that they did without even talking to me I they didn't even wait an hr for me to atleast try and call them back cause at 10:30 is when I called and the gentleman called at 9:30 and He of course was already gone and so was the car that I wanted to come back and look at so I could see what damage it was that they were referring to because I was also told that none of the plastic really mattered is what the gentleman told me and how scratched are fine as long as it's not all the way through the paint and anything 6 inches and smaller didn't matter at all. (But I ended up getting it for a total of 10 days all together but really not sure that i should have been charged for that last day considering I picked it up at 4:10 the very first day so 24hrs would be the following day at 4:10 and it was early early am when it was dropped off ) I'm beyond frustrated iv gotten hung up on told that basically I was a liar and that it couldn't of already been there and the gentleman that renewed my rental didn't even do a full walk around those things need to be thoroughly looked over by both parties but I refuse to get charged for something that was explained to me as " oh anything on the plastic is no big deal" especially when I tried to point things out the very first day and the guy just shut me down and wanted to just rush through it I also let him know when he asked me if I'd be the only one driving it and I said either me or my husband and my paper work also states that there was no one added on or even notes where it says I said husband. MIS-INFORMATION; I recently had to take my vehicle in for repairs, the employee there told me that State Farm Insurance ( my carrier ) would reimburse ( 80-20 ) me for my rental, of the last ten days. I took the receipt out to the insurance company this a.m. and was told by the receptionist there that they would NOT reimburse my rental expenses UNLESS I HAD FILED A CLAIM, because I was in an accident. This is the place my insurance set up for me cause they pick you up and my car was broke in Evansville Indiana. Over the phone they said I need id, proof of insurance and 25 deposit. I get there after they have picked me up and because my card says debt and my car isnt in a "confirmed" repair shop they need my check stubs, a current utility bill.....really??? My insurance is paying for this, but even if it is your policy why not tell people before they get there? Or when they are there do more then say "We will drive you back home to get the info or just take you home. This place was a nightmare! I reserved my vehicle, called them to double check what all I needed to bring the day of pick up. .. I came at my scheduled time, they threw an extra 250 dollars on top of what I was quoted! !! Then would not take my proof of residence because the bill said past due. .. I was not told to bring a utility bill with a zero balance, I was told proof of residence! I've rented here 3-4 times. Every time has been awesome. Yes, they're a smaller location and get fairly busy, but I've always had excellent service. I've not waited more than 5-10 minutes. They're even on time picking me up when I need to be picked up. Very friendly folks. I will use this place every time I rent. It's convenience and closer/better than going to the airport. read more

I can't even give a star. THE WORST customer service, assistant manager Brian lying to tell me he was the only one there when he picked my call up from being on hold after I had been talking to a women and then to Anthony. When I asked the manager a question about a policy regarding pickup, he snapped at me and said "look lady, it's not policy that is the problem, we have other things going on".....so do I. Car crash out of town on a Sunday trying to get home! Aren't you a rental company? Isn't renting me a car on a Sunday the reason you were open? If not, do you "other things" and don't amdvertise that your open! read more
